Sara, I've recently rediscovered your videos. I've never commented before but you're one of the UA-camrs that hardcore influenced me to be vegan. Missed you 😊
thank you for editing out the "hey google" part when you asked whats the weather hahaha drives me nuts when my google home goes off because of youtube videos saying hey google
Vegan RN here, interested in holistic approach/natural & herbal remedies: In regards to the antidepressant history, I have listened to multiple videos & podcasts from "experts" in the field explaining the correlation between depression & the gut microbiome & exercise. There have been many studies where people were actually able to get off of their medications simply by starting an exercise program (which I know you're already doing) & a good quality probiotic, digestive enzymes, & high raw/fresh fruits/veggies to "re-build" the good bacteria. Just wanted to share. ☺️ PS: my tree is still up too & I love the lit mandala behind your couch! ✨ ☮️ & 💖
Typically St. John’s wort actually takes months to build up in your system to feel proper effects Honestly I prefer Lavender and Lemon Balm, which have effects on the mood more quickly Also Nature’s Way is a very cost effective brand but not the best in terms of quality I’d try the Sprouts private label HERBS specifically 🌿 great manufacturer and still great prices.
i love adriene’s 30 day “challenges,” this will be my 3rd year in a row, and this journey HOME is really really juicy! enjoy it, and don’t take it too seriously 😌
I did the first day and that’s it... I had to fast forward through the first fifteen minutes because it was pretty much just meditation which isn’t really my thing. Idk I’m new to her channel so I’ve never done her yoga videos before. Maybe I’ll give them a second chance.
@@ccap3211 i would suggest looking into the other days, they're all different! the beauty of it is YOU get to find what feels good; if you don't want to meditate, don't. it might even help to just search up what you need that day, like if you're dealing with sore hips, search "yoga with adriene sore hips," and so on for any issue in your body or mind! and sometimes, people just don't click, if her guidance isn't vibing with you then maybe someone else can give you what you need/want!
I was diagnosed with moderate clinical depression and an anxiety disorder. I tried a bunch of the chemical stuff, which i didn't like. In the end my doctor wanted me to try St Johns Worth and i have been taking 1000mg to 1500mg doses since then. I much prefer it to the proper chemical stuff... and it fortunately works for me. I know there have been trials in which they used up to 1800mg with some effect (meaning it had better results than the placebo test group).. and i can only strongly suggest people that suffer from depression to try it. You can buy it over the shelf in most countries and if the 300mg dose they usually sell it in supermarket doesn't work for you, then just take more than one pill. I actually am buying the supermarket stuff and take 3 of those pills to get to my dosage compared to the pharama stuff that gives me 1000mg in one dose. It doesn't seem to make a difference for me, even though i realize this might be just the placebo effect covering the difference between the supermarket stuff and the pharamaceutical, but hey.. its only costs 1/10th the price... and as long as it works.. i won't complain. My doctor has no complaints with it either, as long as it works.
@@SarahsVeganKitchen Your welcome. I probably should add it takes about 3-5 days for the hyperforin to accumulate in the body, so the first 1-2 days there is probably little to no effect from taking the pill. But you also can't overdose on the stuff, so there is no danger in testing a little stronger dose if its not working or not working enough. As a nature product, if you buy the over the counter stuff and not the pharmaceutical stuff its potency can vary. But i tend to just take another pill in that case.. anyway, best of luck, i hope it wil help you. I did help me tremendously.
Interesting, I started also this weekend to take a natural supplement to boost my serotonin level. It's a natural 5-htp source from the plant "Griffonia". AND I feel it really works with controlling my mood and thought, almost no anxiety either, which is cool. This is something that apparently is good to take in periods for like 2-6 weeks in a row, and then make a pause. Sounds a bit the same that St. John's wort, I have not tried that.
In high school, I used to drink gas station "coffee" religiously and would always grab a pastry to go with it. I felt like I was so cool and had my life together 🤣 Edit: Omg I started yoga with Adriene as well!
I'm doing the exact same thing with Yoga with Adrien! I started late and I just know I'm going to be behind a few days and not beat myself up for missing a few days or anything 🙂❤️
I’ve been obsessed with miso too lately. I’m on antibiotics permanently for the next 2 or 3 years and my gut needs some probiotics. I add dried bean curd a lot of the times.
Hey Sarah, I wanted to recommend another herbal antidepressant product to you. It’s the Mood Support from NOW vitamins (a really great company whose products I use almost exclusively, and no I don’t work for them, haha!) Anyway, both me and my son have used this supplement for awhile and really feel it helps- it’s St. John’s Wort, Holy Basil, Valerian and 5-Htp plus some vitamins and minerals. Thanks for another great video, you seem really peaceful and your skin is looking great :)
Hi Sarah. I noticed in the brief shot of Eric in this video that his beard had been shaved off, or just growing back out. I'm 65, long time viewer of your vids, and so I've followed your struggle with your skin. Long story short (hopefully!), I'm married to my high school sweetheart. Met him at 15, and he grew a strong beard at 18. Suddenly my face was always broken out from the nose down! He was in another college then, and I'd go visit and had to insist he use Cuticura Antibacterial soap on his beard when I got there. Anyway, breakouts stopped completely. Just thought I'd offer that up as a possibility. Beards can harbor a lot of bacteria apparently, and some of us are more sensitive to it than others. Hope that helps. Oh, and I've been loving your "What Is Life, Dude" podcast, too.
Hey Sarah, I have a question that is not related to this video in particular. You mentioned that your coffee was decaf; do you always avoid caffeine? If so, do you find that cutting it out has helped with anxiety. I struggle with anxiety as well and I am an avid coffee drinker but I have been toying with the idea of switching to decaf. Sorry if you already mentioned this, I am a new subscriber and I love your content/transparency!
As someone who doesn´t struggle with depression but with phases in my life where I am very low, everythings harder and I cry an awful lot, St. John´s Wort has helped me a lot. You do have to take it over a few weeks to show its full effects as much as I know. I hope it helps you too!
I'm pretty sure this is the first time I've ever seen someone say they use T'J's Soy Creamer! I try and keep no less than two in my fridge at all times and right now I have three! So good and so much better than any other plant creamer I've tried. I'm having some in my tea as I type.
Love St Johns Wort. In Sweden we have a an old fashioned herbal snaps with it. Love the taste and the subtle flavour! Over here it's a part of the pagan health care system. My Grand mother never had a pantry without herbal snaps. Probably not placebo if you like it :)
I dealt with a lot of anxiety and depression my senior year of college. St. John’s Wort was one of the only things that helped reduce my symptoms enough so I could get through that last year. I hope it works out for you!
I've been looking into derma rolling for scars and collagen production for loose skin after weight loss and there seems to be some evidence that it works. Seems scary, I know, but maybe do some research into it and see if it might help? I've known a few people who had great results with their scars from cystic acne. And derma rolling also helps when using skin care ingredients that might not normally penetrate the skin enough if applied regularly. For example, if you use vitamin c serums, it can be very unstable and can turn brown on your skin and also have issues penetrating, but after derma rolling, you apply the serum and it sinks into the needle pricks on the skin. Of course, consult a professional, but I thought you might be interested in another option. If you are deathly afraid of needles, maybe meditate on it a bit before actually pursuing it, and good luck in your general health journey, mental and physical.
I do have a derma-roller but I have only used it a handful of times because of my acne. I might do some more research about it now that I'm breaking out less!
Hey Sarah, could you do a video about youf experience coming off birth control pills? How did your skin react? How did it affect your weight, libido, mood?
St. John’s wort is pretty great Others are ashwaganda and valerian root but the valerian could make u sleepy; but have you ever heard of pranayama? It’s a breathing exercise that helps to clear out and regulate your internal channels. Could help your seasonal depression if you willing to check it out
Eric wraps 'em right! Mmmm, now I want miso soup. St. John's Wort is great. My x-husband used to take it for depression and it seemed to work well, but when a doctor finally prescribed him medication, he told him he couldn't take the SJW too. Oh yeah, and you reminded me that I need to practice the piano! What are you playing these days? I got a Fleetwood Mac song book for xmas, so I'm havin fun with that!
I kind of stopped formally practicing reading music and started learning more chords and pop songs. Easier for me to stay motivated when I can play things I can sing along to!
Hey Sarah, if you find that down the line St. Johns Wort isn't working for you, another natural supplement that can help with depression is SAM-e or S-adenosylmethionine. Thanks for sharing your vegan journey!
Lithium 5mg works great for mental health. Lithium is a mineral we need that's actually in food already. The 5mg is not the same as 500mg or whatever the dose bipolar patients take. Look at reviews! I take Swanson brand around $5 a bottle on Amazon!
Love you! when you show what you eat can you show the packaging more, like the spring roll wrappers... I never know what to buy so I don't! Also chocolate chips definitely belong in banana bread, and you didn't look greasy you looked glowy and beautiful

I know you make them all the time but I wasn’t sure how to get all the veggies cut up for spring rolls. Thank you! I’m going to try to make some:) do you have a peanut sauce recipe please?

My wife has a chemical imbalance ( depression) and I found a psycho pharmacologist ( he's a psychiatrist who specializes in brain chemicals) for her to see as I felt her zoloft wasn't quite working the same for her. He prescribed another drug( not an anti-depressant) that has worked wonders. It might be worth it to seek out that particular type of doctor.
Hi Sarah. Just wanted to say that you look amazing. You look happy and radiating positive energy. Love to watch your videos and you seem such a nice an sweet person. Abigail definitely! I asked my doctors about it and because of the meds I’m already taking they told me not to.

She said pitaya meaning dragon fruit not a diff pronunciation of acaii. I thought she did at firs too :)

Can’t process folate.
Does that pull interact weirdly with a hormonal IUD?
no it wouldnt
Please do some research, because it may. When in doubt please ask your doctor
I love açaí bowls! I make them just about every week! Delish and nutritious! 🥰🌱
I still have my tree up too lol.
Ah that smoothie bowl looked so delicious!
love your personality! i feel like im just chilling with a friend - thanks for being so real! & that acai bowl looked so bomb, gotta try!

Read about it before you try.
I've read a little bit about that and am curious. I will look further into it! Glad to know it helped you.
Try Tempeh,Tempeh is Made out soybean, healthy and delicious, the best food for vegetarian 👍,search Tempeh on Google!
Hi people in the comments! I make what I eat in a day videos! If you want even more to watch you should go check them out. Thanks!
sweet sarah!!! thank you for another great video. much love to you 💓
my mom suffers from depression I believe that does help the St Johns Wort
Yay!!!!!! Sarah have you tried the wildbrine probiotic Sriracha kimchi hotsauce??! It's available at whole foods I think you would like it 😬
I saw that at wholefoods and wander was it any good. I have to try it
That sounds delicious, 2 of my favorite things in 1! I need to pick that up also.. Always looking for new hot sauces🖒☺
I've been curious about that! I love the other WildBrine stuff so I might have to pick it up one day.
omg this is def discussion worthy. was the party a not vegan friendly place? or it was, but you still felt like keeping the food brought to yourself?
The other guests ended up eating the non-vegan dessert (mochi ice cream ha) so we just kept the banana bread.
@@SarahsVeganKitchen Love your content :) yet to ever try miso soup. I know I am a bad vegetarian :)) looked so simple. I made spring rolls for my family in India recently!! my brother was not very impressed lol. Indians like COOKED STEAMING HOT food so i figured. your tempeh looked on point!
Aren't there any unhealthy vegan breakfasts in the US? Why just fruits and nuts?
You must not watch very many vegan American youtubers. I literally just watched one of them make pancakes with caramel sauce.
Doesn't that supplement contain gelatine?
If you're taking St. John's wort, I'm assuming you're not taking a prescription anti-depressant.
Nope; I'm not on anything prescription.
Apparently rice flour masks will help clear your facial scars and hyperpigmentation
The wild rice soup looks perfect for winter, thank you!
Every one is trying to stay thin, but I can't seem to gain any frickin weight!!!
I still have my tree up too, I always get a little depressed every time I take it down.
Do you think becoming vegan helped your depression or anxiety at all?
💖💖💖
I just noticed the name change!
I love your channel! You make the most delicious food I can't wait to make and try the spring rolls and Miso soup! Thanks for the recipes💞😊
Hi!, I wanted to invite you to my group if your interested.. It's on Facebook, & it's called vegan and Christian.. I love your recipes, & you can share with the group on how you became a vegan, & recipes. I hope it's ok to advertise, but all vegans need to stick together. Hope you make more recipes
Here me out..you should cut your hair into a long bob( start abovevthe shoulder and end right at collar bone) and color your hair like a brown to blonde ombre. I feel it would really brighten up your features
I've considered chopping it haha.
of course the vegan has to drink coffee and include smoothie bowls in every meal to stay awake
Looking forward to your ex-vegan story/video!
Wee first
....nobody sees her hair loss in the front? ok.
Too much talking
