I recommend buying soy curls directy from Butler! They often include free samples in their shipments.
→ Cold brew
1 cup medium-coarse coffee grounds
4 cups filtered water
Soak for 12-18 hours then strain through a nut milk bag or paper filter.
→ Bircher recipe
1 cup oats
1 1/2 cups plant milk
1 tablespoon maple syrup or sweetener or choice
2-3 chopped medjool dates
1 tablespoon chia seeds
1/3 cup shredded unsweetened coconut
extras: vanilla extract, cinnamon, orange zest, chopped fruit
→Crispy Baked Chickpeas
3 cups chickpeas, rinsed (2 cans)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
Dry chickpeas thoroughly with a clean kitchen towel. Toss with olive oil, salt, pepper and any other spices you like. Bake in a 400°F oven on a lined tray for 30-40 minutes. Give the tray a shake every 10 minutes to cook them evenly.
→ Soy curls with carne asada marinade
1/2 cup orange juice
1/4 cup soy sauce
juice of 1 lime
2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon each ancho chili powder and chipotle chili powder
1 cup chopped cilantro
1 chopped jalapeño or serrano (remove seeds if you don't like spice)
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1 8 oz bag soy curls
Soak soy curls in just-boiled water for 10 minutes. Drain, allow to cool slightly and then wring out as much extra liquid as possible using a nut milk bag or clean towel.
Combine all marinade ingredients and pour over soy curls. Toss to coat and allow to marinade for 2 hours minimum, giving it a stir once or twice to ensure it's evenly coated.
Pan-fry marinated soy curls in a hot cast iron or nonstick skillet until slightly charred and enjoy.
Combine all and soak overnight or for at least 4 hours to thicken.

I LOVE soy curls! I bought them on a whim when COVID was still new and the grocery stores didn't even have tofu. What a find! I don't love tofu and I really don't like tempeh but tofu curls have a great texture and I use them for everything! I'll definitely be on the lookout for upcoming recipes :)

Look into a Bifuteki sauce, it’s a japanese steakhouse style sauce for Kobe beef. I think it would be amazing on the soy curls with some veggies and sushi rice for a dope bowl. Low on funds or I’d try it myself!

Do you find that the soy curls cause, ummmm, digestive issues? I used to eat a lot of TVP but had to stop for that reason! But this recipe looks amazing and I love that the curls are less expensive and less processed than all the meat alternatives.

Great video Sarah Simple and healthy are my favourite recipes. It's coming up for Veganuary in the UK so new vegan products (dominantly foods but there's also non food vegan products coming out) some thankfully remain as permanent products.
