How great is the 'net! Making project bags and had the desire to make a patchwork one and found your tutorial - so easy to follow. Thank you. Hopefully over the next weeks I'll share my 1st finish with you.
Very clever, I'll try this for sure. Eleanor Burns has a technique of sewing steps together into a tube, then cutting them in the middle of one color. Each tube is sliced in a different fabric and when you last the steps out the fabrics are staggered. But, I think your technique is much quicker and there's no matching of seams for your points. Update, I tried your method and it is the most fun technique I've used in years. What a great way to use up all those 2.5 inch scraps I've been saving for years. Thank you so much for sharing this method, I'm telling all my quilting friends!
Hi Nicola, just call me stupid but I learnt this technique for a mosaic cushion at my quilting class and until I saw your video I hadn't even thought of using the technique for a project bag. Thank you so much, this is such a useful tutorial. Happy crafting, Teresa ❤️🧵❤️
Wow what a great way of sewing patch work up, this would be a good way as well if you was stitching a small cross stitch piece into a small pillow. Like the back or side panel.
You filmed this in February? We're just approaching a beautiful spring but I'm getting chilled just looking at your windows with all that snow on them!! LOLOL I absolutely LOVE this method of sewing these pieces together. I make donation quilts and some are patchwork like your bags. I can use this same method to make several panels, sew them together and will have a quilt top in no time. Thanks so much for sharing. Please take care and stay healthy. Hugs from Canada!!
What a great use of your Liberty fabrics. Mine are still in the pretty purple bag from my London shopping trip. I look at them often and think I really need to find a project. Maybe a bag is in my future. Thanks for the inspiration.
Thank you! This is a game changer for doing patchwork. I'm a long time cross stitcher but newer to quilting and matching the points can be frustrating. This was amazing, you made it look easy :) Can't wait to try it! Cheers.
Thank you so much for sharing this handy way of making a patchwork panel! I've done it the "old-fashioned" piecing way, but can't wait to try it with the interfacing. Such fun!
Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful quilted bag panel tip! I am a sewer but never quilted. Now I can go ahead and make one after seeing your time saving tip .
Oh my goodness Nicola that was absolutely mind blowing I have never ever seen a patchwork done like that totally awesome I’m definitely going to give that a try!
Thank you so much for this wonderful tutu Nicola. I am going to try this method rugby away. I can hardly wait. It will be fun to go through my stash and figure out what I want to use. I have not missed one of your videos and enjoy them much. I live in the very middle in the USA
Thank you so much for sharing this tutorial!! I have made a couple of project bags but have always used one piece of material. I haven’t tried the patchwork for the front of the bag. I appreciate the time you put into it!! 😍
What a clever girl!!! Thank you for the great instructions on the panel, I have scraps that are begging to be made into something useful/ Have a wonder week, stay well and safe. Stitch whatever you love.
Excellent how-to....I have used this method to make pixel blocks of Zelda and Mario characters for my adult son for a quilt. Haven’t put the quilt together yet, as we are still working on the individual blocks. I am going to use your method to make some project bags when we get back home in the spring. Thank you for sharing! Blessings and take care.
I’ve made a Mondo bag using this technique but the interfacing was gridded. I didn’t really think about trying the method without the grid. I can’t wait to give it a try.
