I have watching this video at least 20 times to make one bag. LOL! Please don’t ever take it down, I will need to watch it many more times to make more bags! Thank you!!!
And here I am almost 3 years later and soooo many bags later and I’m watching it again to make another one today!!! So yes, please don’t ever take this video down!!! It’s the best one out there!!!
This is HANDS DOWN the very best tutorial for a project bag on the internet. Your instructions are wonderful and easy to follow. Every time I make a bag I come right back here to refresh my memory. Every bag is perfect every time. Thank you!!!
I really like that you left the mistake in & showed how you fixed it!! Whenever I help someone learn to sew (or knit) I find that one of the biggest obstacles is getting them comfortable that mistakes can & will happen, but that they can (usually) be fixed! ps - also love the bag!
I have watched this tutorial over and over and used it over and over and referred back to it over and over!! Thank you SO much for making it!! After making about 12 bags - I guess I can stop now 😂😂 THANKS AGAIN!!
I followed your steps and I made a project bag of my own!! I simply CANNOT thank you enough for giving me the confidence to take this on. ❤❤❤ Thank you so much!!
Just wanted to thank you for the very good tutorial. Broke my ankle in March, needed something to do in rehab. Ordered everything from FQS for Flea Market Flowers. After I came home in May, I decided to work on my fabric stash. I, so far have made 9 project bags. Getting a little faster. Keep trying to make them a little stiffer. Peltek is not bad. Very difficult to work with when turning the bag. Thanks again and congrats on your wedding.
This is such a great tutorial Liz. I have watched it over and over and have finally made a few bags. I really appreciate the time you take to make these tutorials available.
GREAT VIDEO lovely actually seeing someone make something with a correct lining inside, where all seams are hidden. Thank you so much for this informative video - best one I have seen.
I'm actually glad to see the mistake AND the repair on your video. It helps viewers to know it's still all ok in the end. No big deal. Nice job on the bag!
Thank you for sharing. This was a great tutorial. I finally got around to making one. When I turned it, the lining was on the outside; thankfully I could unzip the zipper and get it turned right-side out. Thank you again!
I have used your tutorial SO many times and I just wanted to stop in here for a minute and thank you again, as I am making a couple more project bags today! Thank you, Liz!
Yes, please don’t take it down! Thank you for your recommendation on the Pellon 987F fusible fleece interfacing. I had been using a lightweight type that was giving me fits! I ordered a small piece from Amazon to try your suggestion and I love it! In fact I bought a whole bolt of it to use on my bags. I will also be making some project bags, following your tutorial. Thank you!
Pretty pretty and so brave to share a mistake, so trusting and comfortable with yourself, I admire that - always enjoy seeing what you are up to...... stay warm.
Thank you for sharing and I was happy you showed the mishap with the way the Fabric went. I thought it looked great and I would never have been able to tell. I want to start making my own project bags. I have an addiction for bags!!!!!!. I always watch your videos and truly enjoy them and get enabled a lot so thank you again. Kim
What a great tutorial for a simple project bag. I'm very much at a beginner level when it comes to sewing, but I was able to make this in just a few hours and my zipper (first one I've ever done) only came out slightly crooked! I'm calling it a win. Thank you for the step by step! I love my new project bag.
This is the best tutorial I've seen! I love that it's made from solid pieces. So many tutorials show them done with small pieces that have to be quilted together first. They're cute, and I love quilting, but don't want to have to do it for a project bag. Thank you!
oh thank you so much!! Yes I really just wanted to show the technique for putting it together and then people can customize it however they like with quilting or with trims or just as is!
I have just made my first ever project bag. Your directions are so easy to follow. I love that you don’t edit out your mistakes. That’s how we learn. ❤🎉
hi elizabethann - have watched a bazillion tutorials. i can sew handily and made not one! your tutorial makes so much more sense than others, and also makes me think i can actually complete one, before giving up. ty very much!
I just made 4 bags. 2 for me and 2 for my bestie who strong armed me into learning cross stitch last year. Zippers! What a pain! 1 bag I clipped the corner same as you 🤣. It took 2 tries to fix that darned corner. I’m quite proud of my 4 finished bags. Also, I love to cross stitch despite my reluctance to start. 😜 Thanks for the tutorial.
Tutorial was fantastic. As a very novice sewer (just got a sewing machine), this was very helpful. I’m glad you left the mistake in so we learned how to fix it. And, in spite of it all, you were still your beautiful, happy self! Thanks so much. See you Sunday!!
I don't know if I've ever commented on this video but I love it! I even Love your mistakes cuz they're the same ones I keep making and I like that you show how to fix them. Thank you so much for all your tutorials.
Great tutorial and a great bag for Christmas gifts. I'm glad you left the mistake because it really makes us concentrate when we trim. When we hear it from you to not trim to close and we see what happens when we trim to close, visual, with me at least, stays longer. Again thank you I have seen many how they sew the lining and the outside fabric. Yours is easier and it seems like it's a step less. Thank you so very much again have a wonderful day and I'm glad these videos stay on UA-cam
Love your tutorial. I just finished my second one. Thank you! Leaving the corner cutting mistake in there was so awesome. Well done for that and for keeping it real. xox
Wow, Liz, this was a great tutorial!! So well explained! And I'm glad you left your mistake in the video...that was actually really helpful to see. Zippers have always freaked me out, but now I think I'll give them a go...thank you!
Thank you so much Liz, I’m definitely going to be making a few of these lovely project bags, and thank you also for being humble in the bobos and walking us through it. Much love, Tina 💚
Thank you for this video - in the past week I've made 2 - 1 all the rough edges were left exposed (per the directions) and the other was supposed to be "easy" and used binding ummm I have never done binding and it will forever be my last choice for this type of project..This video was exactly what I needed. Thank you for this true Easy tutorial! ❤
I loved watching your tutorial today on how to make a project bag! I am going to the May Stitch North 2023 Retreat and am currently housing my projects in Zip Lock bags. 🙁. I have so much good quality fabric that I decided to spend the next few days making project bags to use instead! Thanks again for such a great video!! You are a very personable, down to earth and good teacher! 👏🏻Marilyn 🧑🏻🦰🇨🇦
💜💜💜 Very inspirational. I have made several quilted bags in this style using orphan quilt blocks as the front panel. They are various sizes and I love them all.
LIZ! Thank you for an awesome tutorial! I have seen so many zippy pouches with exposed seams, and I just really prefer a lined pouch without exposed seams! Mentally, I couldn't figure out how to make a bag like this, but seeing you do it was a total lightbulb moment for me. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!
Thank you. I love how mine came out! I am taking it on a 3 month trip for embroidery projects and love the zipper placement for inserting my hoops. I made a matching small zipper pouch for inside to hold thread, scissors, etc. I appreciate your teaching. Keep it up!
Great tutorial. I've made several bags using other methods. I really like that all your raw edges are contained so I'm going to give this one a try. Thank you for the tutorial.
Just finished one of these and it's lovely - even if I did put the zipper in backwards! My daughter will never know. Thanks for this, I can see a few more being made. Great tutorial.
I just followed your video and made my very first ever project bag! What a great tutorial, you explain everything, step-by-step, and very clear instructions! And the filming is awesome! Thank you so much for doing this!

Thank you!!! I know this is an older tutorial and I watched it when it was new and found it inspiring. So finally today I followed it. You make it so clear and now I have a project bag I made myself!!! Thank you for taking the time. I love everything you do.
I'm so glad I found you!!! I love your easy step by step process. I had to keep stopping and starting for each step, but both times my bags came out great. I already have supplies to made a few more! Thank you!!!
I love this tutorial. The bag turned out amazing and I like that you didn't edit the mistakes out, but showed us how to deal with them. I have some beautiful cotton fabrics and will use this video to make bags for some cross stitch projects that I'm working on. Thank you!
Just finished my first bag!! Super happy how it turned out. Your video was super helpful since I could go back and replay the tricky bits. Thank you for a great tutorial!
I'm new at sewing and I find this tutorial easy to follow. My bag turned out well. Thanks for all your tutorials and for leaving the mistake in. It's confidence building to us new at Sewing.
Stumbled across your channel as I was looking for a project bag for my cross stitch. Lo and behold.you not only cross stitch but quilt as well. So do I. I followed it step by step and it was perfect. Thank you so much for this tutorial. It was very easy to follow and I didn’t have to seam rip AT ALL! I managed to make a bag during 2 quarters of football. 🤣 Your explanations are great and I just needed to trust the process and it all worked out.
Just saw this video and I am hooked! As a quilter I have tons of fabric to make project bags with. Just need to get the zippers and interfacing and I'm off to the races! Thank you!
I have watching this video at least 20 times to make one bag. LOL! Please don’t ever take it down, I will need to watch it many more times to make more bags! Thank you!!!
Same here and still haven't gotten one made lol
You are SO not alone - I have made about 25 bags and I still watch this! NOT a natural on the sewing machine so appreciate this reference every time.

Me too and I still mess them up!
