I love it. Simple without too many bells and whistles.
You can get the s with s plus package that includes 16" alloy wheels, split rear seats, auto headlights and Android auto/apple car play. No key fob though unless you get sv or sr.
Hey GP, just imagine what other car makers would have to do to offer a car below $20k. "Singlr seater - only a driver's seat" (other seats at extra cost). "Glass package - want glass in the doors ya gotta check that box for the upgrade". "Interior comfort package" (also known as carpet). I don't know how Nissan can make the Versa at such an affordable price, but I'm sure glad the Versa is still around for people who need a car without selling the house.
Too bad New Jersey Nissan Dealers are putting the S at $18900 plus a $4000 rip off I mean up charge. My step daughter wound up paying $21000 out the door
A Maryland dealer has them listed at 19,900.00
In Richmond VA they tried to bs me with some $4k ‘market adjustment’ …$30k after all of their fees and garbage. I don’t mind exercise…I went on a long walk way the hell away from that dealership.
Looks like an affordable car that has the things I want and nothing I don't.
Like how it comes with a lot of the new saftey features. I love the emergency braking and blind spot monitoring. This is a good value for the money. I hate the round air vents. I just think they look ugly. I also hate the tablets jutting out of the dash. Glad Nissan didn't do that! I think I would look at the Corrola or Civic and spend more money. Or consider the Kia Forte for the waranty they offer.
I don't know if you noticed but your "Boom Mic" from your camera keeps on "Knocking" around while you are driving. I had to stop the video several times to make sure it wasn't my computer. I did see the mic moving around in your vid so I know it's the mic now. Probably want to secure it better for the next video. Loved your videos for years Gold Pony! Other than the knocking noise on this review, great job as always!
I love how you give us the differences between the standard and other versions of the cars.
Super helpful. Thanks!
Good value, they had to cut keyless entry on the S , at least it has a immobilizer , it has 8 airbags, LDW, Automatic emergency braking and rear emergency braking. Not bad for under 20k before taxes and license. If I were to buy one it be the SR version, too bad no more noise making alarm.
You have gotten better throughout the years Gold Pony! Keep up the great work and it's nice to see reviews of affordable cars! Thank you sexy man!
Hard to find those prices on a new vehicle in 2023! Even tho it’s (plain) it looks good overall, good MPG and warranty! Everything else nowadays is at least 20k unless you get a mirage.
This one is $19K at a minimum considering 99.5% of buyers want an automatic. Base S automatic is $17,500 +$ 1,095 destination fee + $400 in floors matts/mudguards, etc = $18,995. Kia Rio is about $750 cheaper. Mirage is about to disappear from the US Market. The Kia Rio is about to be re-designed for 2024 model year. So pretty much only 2 cars left at $18-20K in the US.
@@igotanimac1 sounds right! But at least “MSRP” is lower because the ones that start around 18-20 go up to 23-24k with the minimal amount of options.
Nissan dealer here charges mandatory add on of $1900 for nitrogen, oil changes for a year and car washes. A turn off from the moment you walk on the lot.
@@mattmcgriff5952 They do that because they know people will buy them. Honestly right now, dealers don't care if you walk off.
@@tenfourproductionsllc Your delusional they care very much
I picked mine up yesterday, a 5-speed in Gun Metallic, from a dealer 150 miles away (because the manuals are hard to find) so I had a good 3+ hour trip home. Surprisingly smooth ride very impressed. Sound system is certainly adequate. Only real complaint (so far) is lack of padding on door armrest (and that it didn't have the center console, which it was supposed to have), elbow got real sore after a while but a mouse pad wrist rest should fix that.
Congrats on the new ride
For me the manuals are all over it's finding an automatic that is hard. Lol.
There may be an issue with the manual transmission Versa. Have you had an issue with lack of acceleration/ code P2615 (camshaft position sensor)?
Dealers are not ordering in many Versa's. They are hard to get where I live, especially the SR version. I already have a Kicks, but had a Versa been around when I was shopping for a car, I might have purchased it.
Like the safety features.
Thank you for continuing to review vehicles that most people can afford 🫡
Now my car to buy!
Drive the SR for us, 16k allows for elbow room if everyone is expecting 20k at a minimum for anything
I like the front end styling update to the Versa. It toned down the road sniffer heavy look of the last generation.
SR is good enough for me ❤
If I bought this I would definitely try to find a manual.
Good luck, NISSAN only making small amount units in manual available for purchase. Believe it or not the newer (2020 to present) JATCO NISSAN CVTs are decent........
@@crow_2k11beatsbydre8 true; these CVTs are alright, but finding a manual tranny is hard.
If I needed a 2nd car, this would be it
I may consider this again as I have 2014 sv with 173k original cvt. Dang almost buying 2 of these vs one 2023 pruis. 😂
Good luck finding a 16k Versa S anywhere. We had to give up and get a Versa SR for like 21k before taxes and fees, and even that we had to move mountains to get a hold of one.
So let me get this straight…you can Bluetooth your podcasts on your commute, you get A/C and power windows all around. And you have a cvt and power steering. Uhh…..there is zero to complain about here. Best value in history?
I am thinking about buying a car like this as a long term investment. Something that is going to be cheap to drive and repair for about 20 or 30 years. This being one of the last simple sedans in the USA without any hybrid, turbo, digital dashboards, etc. I know Nissan's CVTs are unreliable garbage, so it would have to be the manual transmission for a long term purchase. Also, how is the overall build quality? Does it seem like it will fall apart after 10 years?
Good luck getting that price here in Florida is really 18000 for the cheapest s plus whatever dealers put on
Does the bass car come with Apple CarPlay and android auto?
If my fiat starts fucking up more, I might go lease one of these.
Did you notice the tach goes from 0 to 2? (no 1)
I think a 5 speed SR would be so cool
With some differences it's overall look appears similar to a KIA Rio S/LX
How does a car like this do on gravel and dirt roads? I know it's not meant for off road, but will it somewhat survive short drives on gravel/dirt off roads? Would manual trans do better for off roads?
I have 31k on a 2022 and it does fine on normal gravel roads. It will do well enough on minimum maintenance roads, too, if ruts aren't too deep.
Rental car is a Versa with fob, no key. Can’t figure out how to open trunk! Is there a way without a key?
Am I missing something?
As an owner of 2023 Versa SV, you are actually incorrect. The SV model comes with the new Nissan branded key fob. Same as the SR, just no remote start, otherwise I would not have purchased the sv. Also the sv opens the trunk remotely as well
Still a good vehicle for me to drive one bro.
So I’m curious… are you an actual salesman at this lot where the Versa S is available???. I’m wanting this Versa with the MANUAL transmission in this EXACT color!!!. If you do have any on your lot please message me and let me know please! Thanks!!!👍👍
Where I live this car has a 1,0L turbo 3cyl wonder why they don't offer this engine in the USA
I would get the S but get 17s. Cant handle anything less.
this car is good if you literally do not give a damn about the slightest bit of tech or luxury other than the fact it gets you from point A to point B
Weird they stopped including a remote key fob on the S. A key fob and standard Apple CarPlay/AA would make this trim perfect. No need for the package which isn’t even offered on the manual.
You wont'find one for under $23,000. Dealer markups and "increased market value". The only car you can posibly get for under 20k is the Mirage. And that's because they are pulling out of the market and even with the current market, it's used car value is tanked.
I just bought a new one today for eighteen thousand nine hundred.
You can get a manual for under 20k for sure. But...can you find one? Many dealerships will say NO they cannot lol. But that's just the manual. The automatic starts at around 18k which you would think "Oh good I can get a car somewhere around 21,000 then. Nope. No dealerships are receiving barebones Versa S's at that price. They are getting them with extras that will have the starting price at 19 or even 20 thousand. At that point you might as well just get a Versa SR starting around 21 or 22 with bigger tires, nice trim, LED headlights, nicer front end and side mirrors, and a better looking interior.
Back seat not enough knee room?
I bought a new 2015 base 4 speed - non CVT > Only Base came w/ 4 spd in 2015 - as I didn't want CVT. 78,000 miles so far no problem. I do mostly all maintenance myself. except trans oil change / brakes / new exhaust last yr. anyone looking for a basic no frill car, get the newer 2023 MANUAL TRANS which I wanted but wife need auto. my opinion is the less electronics/computer the better you have w/ any problems in the future. that's if you are keeping car for long run as long as possible. most people lease car every 3 yrs now so it wouldn't apply. I plan to buy a new Manual the moment I hear Nissan will discontinue / not make Versa no more or before all electric. you can't beat this price under $17,000
How many years will that rear defuser stay white sitting right above tail pipe? 😂
If I buy this car, I would want to keep it for a long time. Hence, I would get the manual transmission.
Smart move .
Same here. Now I have to convince Nissan Canada to sell me one. Two dealers I tried almost refused me and tried pushing Sentra. No,thx. I want Versa with MT.
I kept hearing a rattle noise the entire video, it almost sounded like a bottle shaking on a cup holder.
Yes. I've never heard that in any other reviews for the car.
@@Jan96106 I hear that noies too. Maybe it the reviewer could be silent for a seond, he could have fixed it. Nice and clear review but God this reviewer talks and talks and repeats. Blah blahblah.
You can actually see the mic wobbling and I’m pretty sure it’s the mic hitting it’s cage.
Since you are an experienced driver, I have a question for you. Is a used luxury vehicle that is in the 28,000 dollar range a good first car or not? I've never driven a car before and I like luxury cars but I don't want to stand out and buy a car that's too pricy. They are definitely safe cars, but that comes at a price. What is a good price range, in your opinion? 28,000 dollars is a bit expensive. Is that okay?
28k is fine in today's age but it of course it would depend on the car, mileage, condition, etc.
Definitely check out a Lexus, as your first car you want it to be as reliable as possible and Lexus cars are known for that, 28,000 dollars isn't that much if the cars is in great condition
@@goldpony I don't know why the web is saying it should be 5,000 to 10,000 bucks. I don't find it trustworthy. So buying a 28k-dollar car is a good deal for a new driver? Thanks!
@@sufyananigamer4345 Thank you for your advice! I appreciate it!
There is a 2020 GLA 250 in my area that costs that much without taxes, so I wanted to make sure the deal's good.
It is IMPOSSIBLE to buy a new Versa for anything less than $20k.
Currently seeing several on autotrader for $19-20,150..
@@igotanimac1 I'm sure that doesn't include delivery and all the other fees piled on top. It is not possible to get a Versa for the claimed price.
not true looking at one right now 18 with taxes right at 20k
@@minimalist_monk Exactly right, you can definitely get one now for $18-$19K before taxes.
Picked a bad place to go 60 in a 25. Cops sit there all the time.
AA/AC should be standard on every trim level.
Cute little economical car great on gas
The cameras mount is so noisy, too much for headphones.
Pretty nice just sucks that they don’t have android auto and Apple CarPlay
They do, on the S trim as an option and on the SV/SR standard.
@@igotanimac1 oh thanks I must've missed that
CVT still rubbish?
why get this when you can get the Sentra for $880. extra
It's an extra choice for sure, Kicks as well, which is a hatchback. Nissan has a good lineup of affordable cars.
Base Sentra is $21,145 and base CVT Versa is $18,595. Price difference is $2,550 not $880. Versa has a bigger cargo volume than Sentra. Only difference is that the Sentra provides more legroom and 3 inches wider. If you don't need the extra space, you get a Versa and save money.
Nissan definitely lets you know that you have the cheapest out of the three sedans.
A manual gearbox is a huge selling point for me. The CVT transmissions that Nissan uses are junk.
Honda and Toyota discontinued their manual transmissions. Nissan will be next. Better buy now before it’s too late.
I'm getting a Civic with manual. Won't be long that you won't be able to purchase a manual from any manufacturer. Good anti theft device. Lol.
@@edwardcheck8739 civic manual is expensive, I think you can only get them in the high trim level or performance civil not the regular trim. Nissan Versa sell them on the basic most affordable trim.
Made in Mexico would make me hesitate,
Plenty of vehicles even Toyotas and Mazdas are made in Mexico, stop listen to Scotty........
@@crow_2k11beatsbydre8 Plenty are made in Mexico , I agree. However, "assembled in Mexico and MADE in Mexico are tow different things in my opinion. I could be 100 wrong.
@@Lessontobe So the vehicle is assembled in Mexico, but the vehicle parts are imported from all different locations worldwide. Now the paint of a vehicle is done in Mexico, so thats one issue to keep an eye out for. These Mexico plants are mostly new and hi tech, but the workers are paid very low income.......
@@crow_2k11beatsbydre8 That makes sense.
I live in Ukraine. I bought my Nissan Tiida ( Versa) in 2007. Still drive it. 1.6 engine, mechanical transmission. This is really reliable car and even after 100k. miles(160k.km) runs perfect. This car was made in Mexico. Battery was made in Mexico too and died after 12 years!!! It's incredible!!!
lol good luck getting it new for under 16k.
I’m a bit disappointed by the lack of fog lights.
Another Nissan that needs an optional engine choice, and any other transmission than the CVT. Hard pass.
Engine choices just jack up the prices of all of the models plus they probably decrease reliability by making assembly processes more complicated. CVT problems are now mostly solved by maintenance. Change fluids regularly, 15K miles to 30K miles depending on version. No more ignore it until 100K plans.
@@davestvwatching2408 If only a single engine choice, better be a good one. A 1.6NA is mediocre at best.
@@davestvwatching2408 Agreed, change your tranny fluid as stated in owners manual and you should be alright. Newer JATCO CVTs since 2020 are improved.........
The one thing that I can't stand about little tiny cars like this is why do they get 40 or 50 miles to the gallon full size truck some of them gets 25 miles to the gallon and it's a hell of a lot better than that little piece of junk is very sad that our government hasn't never mandated that a small car like that should get 50 miles to the gallon you go to other countries cars get damn good gas mileage not like the United States they suck at that part
You know your life has gone to shit if you ever had to buy this car.
Why? Can u tell me the reason?
Bought one today, lol gonna be driving a go cart.. hahhaaaa so cheap and new…
How much did you pay after all fees and taxes out tge door if you don't mind me asking
