  • I decided to take the Jeep to an actual mechanic! Never hurts to get a second opinion as well as have a few things done that I don't want to tackle myself in the parking lot. Hopefully one day soon we'll have somewhere to work but for now we have to do what we can.

    Throw in a colder thermostat and do a nice tune up on her. She’ll be alright. Keep a bottle radiator stop leak with you for out of the trails. It’ll seal the aluminum good enough to get home.

    When my coolant was boiling all I needed to do was replace the cap on the radiator. Sounded silly when I heard it but it worked. Now temp runs perfect instead of a touch high like before

      So far so good with the stuff I used so let’s hope it solved my problem for now. The cap is new from this summer so I don’t think it’s that. I have a spare and they’re both new

    Thats exactly how my old nissian acted when the head Gasket went, I was able to keep refilling it from the overflow for a while. There should be a test for the coolant to see if there's any exhaust gas in it.

      They tested it, and there was exhaust gas in the coolant

    Merry Christmas! That flat part you referred to as the 'selector' is the oil pump, with the oil pump having gernaded the bearings probably overheated and welded to the races

    • @stephenwest798
      @stephenwest798 6 місяців тому

      The shafts turned freely once he got the chain back in the teeth and there was no discoloration of the gears or shaft from overheating due to lack of lubrication. I would say that when the rear end locked up it broke the shaft which in turn broke the oil pump and allowed the chain to jump the teeth on the sprocket which locked up the transfer case. Look at it again, nothing was overheated or welded together.

    Like i told ya the last video , you have compression gases going into the cooling system , and ya meed a head gasket .. i think eventually you will find head gasket is in fact bad..

    • @SmokinMonkeyOG
      @SmokinMonkeyOG  6 місяців тому

      I’m not saying it’s not a bad gasket but after that stuff used it’s doing good. Took it off road already and no issues. So I’m not worried, it’s a trail rig not a daily driver. Full send

    I been a asc.master tech and engine builder also I am 63 years old best way to get air out of engine is drill a 1/16 hole in thermostat on your engine made sure hole on top it will bleed air better.

    • @SmokinMonkeyOG
      @SmokinMonkeyOG  6 місяців тому

      My rad is already the highest point, did a body lift so the rad is 3 inches higher than stock position and the engine is still in the stock position so it’s easy to bleed

    • @stephenwest798
      @stephenwest798 6 місяців тому

      Duh, when filling a cooling system that is completely dry you pull off a heater hose from the highest point on the engine and fill with fluid until it comes out the heater hose opening and then you replace the heater hose and finish filling the radiator. Your comment is just another reason why I always do my own work.

    • @SmokinMonkeyOG
      @SmokinMonkeyOG  6 місяців тому

      @josephraker9835 if you look inside the thermostat housing on this engine it has a small bypass built in so it does get past it just not fully circulated until it’s open.

      70 K is pretty good I’d say for a set of tires I got myself the Mickey Thompson Baja boss all-terrain; their three peaks snow rated so they’re great in the winter and then wet weather

    It is a good idea to get rid of that mechanical fan and put in an electric fan that you can turn off when entering deep water. Those mechanical fan blades tend to bend when they try to push water as water tends to be a little denser than air. And now that everyone has given you their advice get your ass back out on the trail and make another video!

      There’s not much protection underneath the engine bay on the jeep unless I start building my own skid plates, so unless I relocated inside the cabin, it’s going to get dirty and muddy
