  • Time to repair all the body mounts, by replacing all the rusted out metal and making sure we use only the best parts we can to have the repairs last as long as the factory body mounts did. This is the first step to getting the Jeep back to its full potential and allowing us to take it out on the trails once again!

    Floor boards and body mounts I’ll be doing as well weather sucks ….my rear gate did the same thing lift to open it. I did floors and body mounts on my old cheerokee. It was fun because it was with some Jeep guys now the jeep guys are not around so much life happens. My friend told me one good thing. Self tapping screws help be for you weld them in. Get the adhesive the black glue stuff. It helps. For water .

    Hi Mike, thank you for sharing all these videos about Big Bird adventures. I also own a TJ here in France. Can you tell us from which site did you buy the different boards such floor , rear corners, fenders or rear cross member ? Rockauto, Keyparts I haven't reach their site, and maybe Mopar you got from Jeep dealer official network ? Thanks. Hervé.

      @SmokinMonkeyOG okay. Now I'm really curious if the actual body after all the body and structure repairs are done, would the body be stronger on the original lower body mounts. Just curious if you new.

    • @SmokinMonkeyOG
      @SmokinMonkeyOG  5 місяців тому +1

      As long as you use the rubber bushings to create the cushion that it needs then I’m sure it’ll be fine. Of course, keeping everything stock is better and stronger but I don’t think that it will make much of a difference as long as it’s installed properly.

    Curious the amount of time it would take on average to do that body work and cost assosiated with it. I personally have a TJR 06 and I am wanting to replace the front fenders with new factory ones, where in ontario are you getting those?

    • @SmokinMonkeyOG
      @SmokinMonkeyOG  5 місяців тому +1

      If you want new fenders you can get them on Amazon and replace them yourself. That’s what I’m planning to do. As for the cost to get body work done it’s not cheap and it’s a lot of work usually. The fenders just bolt in. The floor and torque box however is welded in so took us 6 hours to remove one side today. I’m guessing it’s going to be close to 50hours between two guys to do all my body mounts. So let’s say $100 an hour which is cheap around here you’re looking at 2 men 50 hours each so 100 hours of labour at $100 an hour is 10k without parts or tax….

    I would put those exposed wires in wire looms to protect them, the last thing you need is an electrical fire, and I would, after washing the dirt out of your frame, get some of that oil coating and spray the inside of your frame to slow down the rust. If you can wash the dirt off every time, you're done wheeling it helps as well as that dirt holds moister. Now, get the jeep done and make more wheeling videos!

    • @SmokinMonkeyOG
      @SmokinMonkeyOG  5 місяців тому +2

      Not exactly the repairs I’m doing myself with a buddy so I’m not paying for any labor, but if I do the body then I have to do a lot of electrical work a lot of unbolting of different things moving things I would have to remove the entire front end with the fenders and the grill and the radiator it’s actually a lot of work to do a full body swap And then you have to remember. Now you have to find a body that has a good interior or you’re swapping your whole interior. You also need to make sure all the seals are good it’s a lot of crap to worry about.
