- I had big plans to get a bunch of repair and touch up work done on Mom's Spaghetti. That all starts to go south, so what better way to recover than going four wheeling with friends. Follow along for some tips and tricks, as well as beautiful views of the inland northwest.

All your full-size content made me go out and buy another ram and started building a wheeler again! Thanks Dave keep up the content I think your way of filming and editing is super underrated. It’s what we all want to watch
I appreciate that. I’m enjoying making the videos
You couldn't have said it better. Forget the (every 3 second) split cuts and fancy editing. Your raw hand-filmed garage footage is 100% what youtube needs more of. 💯
Between you and Fred and re-watching DED y'all give me the motivation to keep working on my rigs. Keep up the great work!
I appreciate it
Using gloss grape spray paint is now a personal goal.
Follow your dreams
Love these videos. Fabricating videos are my favourite, but watching you wheel a rig we watched you build, even if it is some simple snow wheeling, is always enjoyable. Keep killing it Dave
Thanks! Glad I can keep people stoked on the simple ones too
Painter here... Try dropping the can in a sink of hot water. The heat ups the pressure so it sprays harder. There are other ways to heat the can but I'll leave that to the imagination. 😎
I’ve tried a few sketchy ways
That Nissan mini truck is just begging for that purple paint. It’ll be 1992 all over again. Great video as always. Thank you 😊
I do like a nice purple paint job
Those roads are very familiar to me, thanks for sharing
No problem 👍
Motor city pizza is my favorite also….good stuff!!!!!!!!
It is so good
The amount of choices in your spray paint cabinet is impressive! Really dig the way mom’s spaghetti’s suspension is set up, working 4 link with the trailing arms and bags, with a set of good used coil overs… dude that’s thinking outside the box. You should bring it out to Fullsize invasion in Sand Hollow in January! Going to be a great time!
I would like to. Not sure if it’s I. The cards
Lv10 killin the haters!!! Truck is awsome super reliable and getting tons of mileage good choice!!
Thanks. It’s a good rig!
Thanks for sharing your talents with us Dave! Your builds are always so impressive.
My pleasure!
Good seeing ya and getting to see Louie in person. Need to get some time and get the bobbed excursion out with Louie.
Good seeing you too. Maybe before ejs?
@@thedirtheadshed Sounds fun, haven't really ever been snow wheeling so let me know if you guys plan a trip!
Awesome dude! First time I heard you mention the Nissan I think. The need for content seems like we will see that eventually. Guess that will be some returning to roots I guess. Cool show, saw the things, did the stuff, improved the equiptment. Good times. Thanks!
The Nissan will get the spotlight eventually
I miss living in a place like that.
It’s not a bad spot
Really enjoy the vids showing the terrain and trails out there. So Much different than we get here in the Midwest. Thanks Dave!
You’ve got some good wheeling too. Just got to find the private parks
Mom's Spaghetti, Louis V10, the little Mustang II...do I remember an old Merc as well? I'm noticing a trend toward a specific brand here and I'm liking it. So sick of the all square body, all the time bandwagon folks. Even the Maz-Grande is largely Ranger isn't it? Whatever - keep it up! The world needs fewer cookie cutter builds!
Yeah. I like the FoMoCo stuff. The Mazda is all Mazda though.. this year range was not a partnership with ford
Love the shop vids. Need some more snow wheelin content
We’re running out of snow. Hopefully more in the new year!
Man, I used to have a 1993 W250 standard cab Cummins and I am kicking myself that I never built it like Louis Viten.
That would have been a fun one
Yer awesome dave dirt every day was with the best off road show motor trend had I was so pissed when I heard the news hope you and Fred are doing well 👍
All good here! I appreciate the support
I’m in Southern Louisiana, completely different. The views are amazing, beautiful!
It’s like a world apart
Hoo doo mountain's my backyard good wheeling up there.
I need to explore it more. Definitely cool
Merry Christmas Dave.
Merry Christmas to you too I
Dave I’m in eastern North Carolina and most years we don’t even get snow let alone the opportunity to do a cool scenic day trip in the snow like that. Thank you so much for all the awesome kinds of content on the channel, keep it up man!!!
I am blown away every time! Cheers to a great new year
When the rattle can clogged up on ya, and you turned it toward the camera, i totally thought you would push the button and blast the lens.
P.S. Dot's Pretzels are amazeballs!
That bag is long gone
The view was epic
Blows me away every time
Good seeing you at the toy drive Dave and it was fun to watch this and see my truck in the video. Are to miss that bright blue Ram.
Good talking with you too. Have a good new year. I’m sure I’ll see you around
Mom’s spaghetti with a coyote and 10spd would be the raddest truck ever.
That would be a baller setup
Definitely need more of mom's spaghetti. That truck is the coolest.
Coming soon
I love Mom's Spaghetti.. my first truck was an 81 F100 side step regular cab short bed, converted from 2 to 4wd, 351w swapped and SAS'd. Mismatched color body panels, but it drove everywhere. Not as badass as Spaghetti, but it's the truck that got me into wheeling.
That’s awesome. Hopefully it’s still around getting enjoyed
Merry Christmas to you , your Family and Dirtheads everyone & everywhere !
Thanks ! Merry Christmas to you too
I went outside and drove my truck to get fuel and check the mail, saw how dirty the windows are. I cleaned them five times each. Still not clean. I used to smoke and everything has it coating after a decade of driving it while smoking. I quit 12 years ago. LOL Winter time is when I can see just how dirty the windows are. So I clean them every few years...
Sounds like it’s time to clean a little more often
A really nice trail ride up to the top of that mountain. A lot of snow made it look really nice and a beautiful view . Can see a long ways.👍
It was a great day
Raise your hand if you too use Dave's paint organization technique
I try to organize. That lasts about a week
you guys have NO IDEA how lucky you are with your country and what you have, insanely jealous, but love watching what i cant have.
I try to appreciate it as much as I can!
Killer little run up to the top. Killer views. Thanks for the cool video
Thanks for watching
Living in cold climates run your paint cans under hot water before trying to use them and they will clog up less and spray smoother.
I don’t have water in the shop
Mom's Spaghetti is so worth it and deservers the love!
I agree
Life hack Dave, when you’re done using the spray can turn it upside down and give it a couple of sprays and it will clear out the tip so it’s ready to use the next time 👍🏻👍🏻
I know the trick. It’s never really worked for this paint
@@thedirtheadshed I always clean the tips with acetone before I put the can away. I use a little wash bottle.
Sick fleet!
Thank you
Sure looks like Priest Lake area. Could be wrong. One of my favorite places. You should do the trail from Coolin to the backside of Schweitzer.
I’ll check that out. Thanks.
Woot first. Merry Christmas Dave!
Good work Dave. Merry Christmas to you too
Amazing view, thank you for sharing that with us !!!
Thanks for coming along
Okay but those Costco deep dish dooooo be hitting 😂
So good
The 100k is within reach, and most certainly deserved! Awesome content!
We are close!!!
Best gear head/4 wd content on UA-cam!
Thanks!!
Love these full size rigs. Those snow wheelin views are amazing. I live in south Ga and have never really been in snow like that. One day perhaps. Great video!
Glad you dig it. Definitely worth a trip out west
Dave as a fellow hoarder or "collector" of many random flavors of rattle can paints/primers/epoxy paints/adhesives/etc. I can't say enough about how well the cheap Amazon/ebay drill powered spray can spinners or especially the shakers work for using/salvaging old or partially used cans... Especially for high build primers and epoxy style rattle can mixtures! The can spinners are always built with cheap hardware and require a grade 8 bolt and some thicker fender washers, but are super cheap, small, and portable. The drill powered can shakers definitely are superior, especially if you get the bench mount style instead of the grip handle type. Its amazing how quick and easy it mixes a perfect non clogging, faster drying can up, even brand new cans of cheap flat paint now spray better than I ever knew they could... I regret not buying one sooner, because I've definitely thrown away enough "bad" cans of paint after clogging the internal valve to buy several shakers and spinners🤦♂️ Plus pulling a drill trigger is much more pleasant than shaking cans until your hands go numb 🤣👍 Thanks for the content Dave!
I’ll look into those!
Great video, that landscape doesn’t even seem real, wild.
It’s beautiful up there
Thanks for the video. I personally have had good luck with denatured alcohol and a microfiber for cleaning metal surfaces. Ive given up the spray can for oil based paint and harbor freight disposable oil brushes for my truck. Easy touch ups, goes on thick, lays out pretty even, and no more clogged tips.
I have brushed oil based stuff a few times. Tried doing my cage in Louis Viten that way. Not smooth enough though
Always enjoy snow wheeling and working on mom's spaghetti's. Good stuff Dave and video watched in its entirety.
I appreciate it! Have a great new year
Missed you from DED. Found you again from ViceGrip and have watched for 3 days straight now…(while at work) !!
Great video Dave! Your camera work is underrated!!! Beautiful shots!
Thank you. I want to watch it on a tv. Haven’t seen on the big screen yet
Snow trails looked like a lot of fun….and easy for Louis. Hope you had a great Christmas!
It was a good quick trip. That will get more different with more snow if we get any this year
Can we have a “clunky” counter started😂😂
I overdid it…
@@thedirtheadshed all good! I do like the videos. Just having fun
I did subscribe
I used to live in Spokane, all those mountain views make me miss that place.
It’s a great place ! Just need to get out and explore
Great video, always good seeing a dirt headin the shed!. It gives me motivation to do my xjs lift kit today.
Do it!
I love Moms Spaghetti. Such a cool truck.
Thank you
I definitely recognized several places in this video. I used to work right down the street from Diesel Power Products at FedEx Freight. I live in Post Falls, so I really know Trent and the gas station at Star Rd. If I recognized your trip into N. Idaho correctly, you went north of Spirit Lake and up Mt Hoodoo. You can't quite see Canada or Washington from there, but Washington is just the other side of that Ridgeline across the foggy valley. There's actually a road that takes you from Blanchard over to Elk and Riverside area. Great video Dave!
All correct
Your full size rigs are awesome I'm more of a mini truck guy myself but definitely the wildest suspension setups I've seen
I like em all
First off, thank you for another great video.
95 suburban SAS, leafs or bars?
Yes, your opinion matters!
On that I would probably keep it simple and on leafs
@@thedirtheadshed
Absolutely! Now I'm going to toss a divorced 205 behind the existing transfer case and send the front shaft up the passenger side. Now I gotta get a Chevy, kingpin 60. Thanks Dave.
what a view, great video
Thanks ! It was amazing up there
Dave you’re awesome man! Keep up the content and merry Christmas
Thanks! Have a merry Christmas too
That was awesome wheelin Dave !
It was a good day
I've always loved using tractor paint on my trucks and jeeps it's cheap and if done right looks darn good.
It really does
This makes me miss WA bad! What a cool day out!
It’s only a flight away
Dude if we didn't live almost as far as we can get from each other and still be in the states . I would be the neighbor thats hanging out all the time . Keep up the good work from southeast Alabama
That’s a ways away! I almost ended up in Birmingham area
@@thedirtheadshed some nice rock wheelin in that area Morris mountain, Choccollocco mountain and the birthplace of rock bouncing Grey Rock ,Cable Hill.
Keep going brother, looking good!
I’m moving and shaking
“Let’s go put this in the spray booth “
Big dollar stuff over here
Dave you gotta be careful yelling at those Canadian Cobra Chickens.... They might come after you. Haha!
They have invaded
yeah mann ... land lovin gnobby hobby fun times...
It’s good to get out
The reason the undersides if desert race trucks was gray is because we used Steel-It weldable paint. The stuff is tough as hell and if we had to do a repair we didnt have to strip paint in the middle of nowhere. Its pretty standard in desert racing still today. Though some have gone to rhino lining Steel-It is still used by most small builders instead of powder coat etc.
I know all about steel it. That stuff stated getting popular about 12 years ago
great job brother. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Thank you. Merry Christmas to you too
Support
I appreciate it!
Merry Christmas to you and the family, New Orleans La.
Merry Christmas to you too. Another guy from your town just commented on one of my videos. He sounded bored. You guys should go work on cars or jeeps together.
🦅🇺🇸💪😎👍 Merry Christmas great video as always thank you
Thanks! Merry Christmas to you too
If that gold ram is a hemi I highly suggest swapping out the dod lifters or just turning off the cylinder deactivation.
It’s a Cummins truck
I can concur the Costco Pizza's are the bomb!
Also I really dig the Ford.
You have good taste
My wife was wandering if your wife and girls go wheeling with you and will they show up on the Dirthead Shed 😊Keep up motivating my husband Darrin. “Kate Ackerman”.
They use to go wheeling / camping a lot when we were desert camping. But not so much up here.
I love the area north of Spokane, we just took our Polaris up there last weekend, amazing views!
Nice to get out in the woods
Merry Christmas and keep up the great content. I've been using Napa commercial coating for decades. Tough paint that can be brushed on or reduced and sprayed. Rocks will still bang it up, but I still like it. Last vehicle that I painted was gallons on my M817 dump truck, that I used for my business. 😊
I’ll have to give it a look
@thedirtheadshed , if you reduce it and add hardener, it actually sprays well and makes a durable finish. Don't limit yourself to the few colors available. When I painted my dump truck, I mixed 4 parts John Deere Green with 1 part black and got a beautiful dark forest green. I found the color I liked by counting drops from a paint stick and mixing them together. Happy New Year!
Awesomeness
Good day in the woods
Merry Christmas Dave,,,,🇦🇺🍺
Cheers to a happy new year
You got it made out there bro. I live in bullcrap PA. If you drive in the woods with any motorized vehicle they want to fine you $1000. Great views!
You should look at rock run recreation park
Nice Boneyard hoodie, Reppin Bend 🤙
Any time I can! Great town
Moms spaghetti is one of my favorite builds more then Louise viton
It’s got more style
@@thedirtheadshed facts 🤘I mean it's a bullnose sas with a functional poor man's any level kit that puts in work.
I am so jealous, it’s beautiful there and we never get snow like that.
We need more !! It’s weak this winter
Do you think modifying your paint cabinet so the tops face outward would improve your ability to find what you're looking for? Just a thought!
Can't wait for more Mom's Spaghetti, it's gotta be my favorite build of yours.
That’s a good idea
Used to live in Washougal, Washington after a couple of beach trips on my trucks , Pressure washed wire brush wipe down with Acetone and used to use Rustolium hammer finish paint On the frame and suspension. 😁
That stuff looks great but doesn’t hold up in the sun too long
@@thedirtheadshedl had good luck with it
Held up to the dirt roads in Guilford national forest and running Sr 14 in the Portland daily just had to touch it up with for rock hips on the front end and rear end 😁
Cool as always! Happy holidays Dave. That’s a Toyota HiLux at 16:54.
Yep. Just not used to seeing them around here
Some people are running boots on their heims with good luck making them last longer in snow / mud / salt if that is something you’d like to try to make the upper link joint maybe last a little longer.
I have installed those boots on rigs before, but never on my own
I have a car with toe links that uses rod ends and boots. They work well. One joint developed some play and when I took it apart and inspected it the joint was surprising clean for a car run in rust belt winters.
I think the quality of the joints is important as well. Aurora, FK or NHBB are the good ones I've found. Three piece construction with hardened balls, bodies and races plus PTFE liners are the ones I try to use.
I was just going to say that, THIS IS WHY WE DON'T HAVE NICE THINGS!! HAHAHAHA
Never fails.
21:56 um they mak these things called windows that go down AND UP. Its the newest thing, you just have to push a button. Sime have a crank on them but thats for "the poors". Richy TV dudes have buttons for window operation. 😊
Yeah, but who’s gonna get the sweet video shots if my arm isn’t out the window
This year and snow wheeling. We may get nothing until January - but then some years we get our entire snowfall in late Jan through March. Bluewood (my local ski resort) is closed - they opened briefly but it may be January (or, in the case of one rotten year, not at all). Still, day in the hills beats any at work.
That is how it is around here too. It’s all melted off at lower elevations
I use a lot of semi gloss black spray paint. It’s not fancy but it prevents a lot of rust and it’s easy to touch up. Around here, we have a lot of gravel roads so it’s like a bead blaster on steroids
Certain satin blacks are really nice!
Nice bro.im doing that to mine
Right on
So jealous of the scenery. I’m sitting in New Orleans on the river and have very little worth looking at. Merry Christmas Dave!
Sounds like a great day to work on something so you can go cruising in the spring
@@thedirtheadshed If only I could. I live on a tow boat for a month at a time, then I go home for 2 weeks and try to catch up with what little I can do. Maybe one day.
I have a friend that does the same. But in the oil fields
The body lean in that dentside is pretty epic. I need to find some snow wheeling - most trails are closed here for sleds which makes it hard.
That is common around here too
I mix cheap grease with anti seize when I want corrosion resistance in threads.
I have old tubs of anti seize that were drying out. A little atf and mixed up good as new
Gloss Grape seems to the perfect colour for some suspension pieces on the Mustang!! 😂
It could spice it up
Marry Christmas!!
Cheers to a happy new year
