    I have to agree with you that it's an excellent touring bike. I just did a 2000 mile trip on mine, two-up, through Spain and France, on motorway, back lanes, mountain passes, dirt roads and it excelled. It certainly exceeded my expectations. Used no oil that I could see (fully synthetic), chain needed no adjustment (which surprised me) went from 25mm to 30mm free play. Looking forward to my next tour on the meteor. You've gotta ride them to understand them. I left the 1200 tourer at home for this one.

      Did you make any adjustments or changes to your suspensions?

    • @walt7518
      @walt7518 Рік тому

      @@danielbrown1434 Only adjustment available was to increase the rear suspension preload to max setting, which I did. Also made sure I stayed below the 184kg's max payload and pumped the rear tyre up to 36psi.

      Hi I am planning a UK to Italy return trip for next June about 2000 miles on my meteor. Hoping to do about 300 miles a day, My wife thinks Im a little over optimistic. What do you think??

    • @walt7518
      @walt7518 Рік тому +2

      @@davidragnoli5162 I did a couple of 300+ miles day but used mway's where available, just to get it done. One day was, leave ferry port at 15:15, arrive at B&B at 22:30, wet and cold!. I much preferred the 200~250mile days touring the back roads. Unless I have time constraints, I try to keep it around 250 max, but yes, I can do 300+ miles a day on the meteor as I find it very comfy. It's just not as much fun which is what hols are for.

    Ronin, the trip was great. You guys did an awesome job managing a wide range of riders over varying terrain, lots of intersections, and dealing with time limitations. There is joy in small bikes, especially RE. Best wishes!

    Just watching your last video on your long distance trip on the Meteor, great little video. Totally agree with you on how this little bike performs. Its silky smooth for a single cylinder. I rode my bike across the Highlands and Grampians this summer, a journey of 330 miles in one day, and my Meteor was a real beauty to ride.

    So glad I got a chance to join you folks on the first OLM group ride! It was quite a hoot and I truly enjoyed meeting everyone. A lot of fun was had swapping stories and experiencing good times, meals and drinks together. Met a lot of really great people on this ride! You get a well-deserved pat on the back Ronin for doing such a fantastic job organizing the trip. You can tell you put a lot of thought into it. The route was quite nicely planned, well-paced and there was always something interesting just around the corner. Oh, and whatever offering you must have made to appease the weather gods, it was worth it, sunny and warm all the way. Augusta was a great destination to select and the river ferry crossing at the end made for a novel experience. Thank you for making the ride a memorable experience for a guy that's approaching 70 years old and riding a 2020 Himalayan.

    Daaaang, so much good stuff, where to start?! Well, first, what a joy to join you guys for lunch and the distillery tour in Augusta, KY, on the inaugural OMR Ride! I'm a lucky dog! Second - and speaking as a retired marketing dude - your *debrief* in this video is fantastic: bam, bam, bam (in a good way!) on every conceivable question, with a clear, insightful point of view. That's why I subscribe! Third, the visual quality of your video on the road is frickin stunning! I was just up today with buds riding backroads to Lebanon, OH and points beyond, and your vid captures it beautifully (despite the GoPro battery problems you mentioned). Long and short: anybody *anywhere* wondering about the Meteor 350 for longer rides should watch this video. Masterful!

    G'day mate. I have only recently started to watch your video's,(last two days) and I am seriously impressed with your natural style and humour. Like yourself I am an older rider (wiser?), and recently under going significant back surgery, it has really made me think about my riding future. Bought my first road bike in '75 (Honda 750), and have never been without a bike since. Motorcycles are my passion, therapy and downright enjoyment that has never been surpassed by anything else during my life. So, my current machine is a 2017 Yamaha fjr1300. Comfortable, fast enough when it needs to be and a terrific touring bike. It is also heavy, but I absolutely love it and cannot part with it. I have been amazed at the admiration you have for this particular Enfield, not to mention the fact that us people that tend to be a little taller,6ft+, will actually fit on this little single. You have certainly prompted me to visit my local RE dealer and thoroughly check one out. I believe that this would make for a perfect town bike and also provide a little company for my other girl. Really appreciate the effort you put into these video's, and I certainly subscribed. A big G'day from Australia, and stay safe. Crikey, I've got a stack of video's to catchup with, that's for bloody sure mate.🦘🦘👍👍

    That was a great video, fine you had such a good time. And the Meteor seems to be a perfect touring motorcycle, I would add a extra point : you won't get much speeding tickets with it, and that is a real advantage. And you did 87 miles per gallon that is stunning and with the fuel prices nowadays it is very important. Thanks for sharing and ride safe.

It's 10 kg heavier than my Suzuki GT550 with 50 HP and 25 kg heavier than the 1973 four cylinder Honda CB350F with 34 Hp. I would call the Meteor a heavyweight 350 cc bike. Yesterday I went for a 5 hour ride, the bike is a pleasure to ride. My only gripe is the light at night, man is lacking, especially the high beam it doesn't cut it, with incoming traffic you get blinded for a sec because is so low compared to the cars on non illuminated back roads. I will look for a better bulb or not ride at night that much.

I did a trip on my 22 RE Meteor from Wisc. across Minn., N Dakota into Montana then down through Wyoming to Nebraska, Iowa and back to Wisc. A little less than 3,000 miles with about 90% being run at 65 to 70 mph. The difference in rpm's between 60 and 70mph isn't that much. Also the Tripper navigation worked surprisingly well.

    Great vid sir. I'm seriously thinking of getting one of these bikes. In regards to you Gopro battery issues, when I went from London to Vienna last year on my Honda CB500F, I had Gopro 4 on my helmet chin and yes ,kept needing to change the batteries regularly, however on my handlebars I had a Gopro 7 that I had connected to a USB power cable , so it kept running all the time with no issues. Obviously I would switch the camera on and off myself, but never had a problem with the battery dying. Guys, get a multi USB socket so you can run more than one cable from it. As on one for you camera and another for you phone/ satnav etc.

    Great video! I have the paid Calimoto version. I had no trouble with the map being out of state. That may be a limitation of the free version. What mine did was it failed to start navigation. Probably operator error since I hadn’t read the manual🤣. At our first stop I got it to work but it wanted to take me back to the starting point first. That meant I had a map going in both directions and instructions telling me to go back at every intersection 🤪. I also got about 87 mpg for the weekend. 978 miles round trip for me. My aftermarket sprung solo seat was probably on par with the stock seat but I don’t think the Classic seating position is quite as relaxed as the Meteor. I’m going to try some highway pegs on my crash bar, er engine guard. I agree with your assessment of the mini floorboards! Also a fan of the heel and toe shifter. But I had to get mine from India since the Classic doesn’t come with it in North America.
    Such a fun weekend!

The plan is the 125cc for 3-5 months, then once I pass my test the Meteor. I haven't decided on my first big bike yet. But Royal Enfield do seem to offer a lot of bang for your buck, so I may go for one of there 650's

    Great video. I was a big rider in my youth and college but since I got married I haven’t ridden a bike since 1995. I’ve been looking at this model and the only thing that concerns me is the heal toe shifter and the foot pegs in a turn. Sometimes in your videos the clearance of the pegs to the ground seems really tight to the ground. Any problems with you snagging the foot rests in a turn? The bike looks awesome and maybe a good “get back I to ridding” bike. My last bike was a Yamaha 400Xs Special. My dad had the 650. Love your videos. Very well done.

    I have the large screen and I have removed it because the turbulence off the top is so noisy. Despite wearing a helmet AND ear plugs, it's still noisy. The top edge of the screen needs to be either higher or lower but it offers no adjustment. So I've made some new stays out of 10mm galvanized round bar that are a bit longer so I can adjust the screen an inch or two (apologies for mixing units LOL) to see if I can get the turbulence off ear level. PS Chains don't "stretch", they wear.

They're down to the Classic 350 in the Halcion Green (which I think looks pretty good)and a few more colors like the Stealth Black, which I do not care for. Do you have any recommendations on which style and color you think looks the best. Thanks!

    I did Wales (black Hills) recently and was carrying a change of clothes a bike chain and gopro stuff. The bike has 14.5 bhp and really struggled with the hills.
    So for me the Meteor or classic 350 has only 5more bhp so I can see it being fine at 60 ish but when you hit the hills and twisties gonna struggle. I had to go into third a lot. I am hefty at 100 kg + or _.
    So for me maybe the Scram/Himi might be better. Ideally I want 30/40 bhp but I wont know till I test! (I'd love to have a Meteor or classic and maybe wait for the Himi 450). So two bikes😜
