I bought my Royal Enfield Meteor 350 just after I passed my A2. It's my first bike I've ever owned and ridden. I adore it like genuinly it's my pride and joy. It's given me my confidence on the road, and I've always felt safe on it from the moment I rode it home from the dealer. The heal toe shifter is a great touch and is really easy. The bloke at the dealership explained it to me, and I was away. It's incredibly stable as well, which is great for new riders like myself. You couldn't make the bike unstable if you tried, I'm pretty certain. The speed is perfect for me. I've ridden it from Chester to Sheffield to visit my brother over snakes pass. it's about a 2 hour ride over some very steep roads and bends. The bike performed brilliantly, and I never felt like I was going to slow. The only small issue is motorways. It will sit at 70mph, but you're full flat on the throttle in 5th gear. All the motorway riding I do on the bike I ride at about 65mph in the slow lane the bike is happy and your not over stressing the engine.

RE has fitted a electronic speed limiter that equates to 72mph or 6,850rpm. Likely for engine longevity

It‘s a remarkable achievement from Royal Enfield, that all the reviewers on YT are stunned by the meteors simple and natural style of riding a motorcycle discribing it as the essence of riding and having fun on a bike.
Having so many independant voices coming to the same conclusion sais a lot about this bike.

Royal Enfield are knocking it out of the park when it comes to style and affordability. Stripping out the guff and leaving what's important to give a rider a "pure" riding experience. Well done Royal Enfield 👏

@@joecamel6835 Honda build quality is nothing to write home about on their modern bikes. Had loads of new ones over the last ten years or so and each with their own problems ranging from rust to full engine strip to replace a dodgy crankshaft that was the subject of a recall. Honda still only gives a 2 year warranty on their bikes yet RE gives 3, they obviously have faith and confidence in their bikes.👍

Nice review. When I started motorcycling in the 80s a 350 was a pretty big bike and everyone was satisfied with a Superdream. So agree you do not need a 1200 with more electronics than the Starship Enterprise.

This was a nice video. I have had an interest in the Meteor after seeing one at the local Royal Enfield dealership where I live. Interestingly, you are not the first UA-camr I have watched recently who has started to talk about whether we have "lost our way" with motorbiking and should look again at the smaller bikes that just let us enjoy riding. I found this out for myself when I did a tour of the highlands on Scotland on my BMW GS (in May 2022), only to get home with the feeling that I had not really enjoyed it. I took the decision to sell that bike and downgrade to a Rebel 500 (some of that based off your review, thanks) and have now done over 1k miles on it since July. I have rediscovered how much fun I can have riding a bike that is not so demanding.

Can’t decide if I prefer this or the classic both of them are brilliant in my book. And a perfect small ride for where I live. Pretty much I need to ride both for a few days to see which one is the most comfortable. Heel shifter I’m already used to from several bikes I’ve owned and one sportster I actually set up on purpose that way. Kept the can I borrow your bike numbers down that had a lot of work put into it and could get out from underneath you do it was best not ridden by inexperienced riders. Have to visit the dealer see if I can’t get a day on one of each.

This is what we should be able to ride with a CBT. A 125cc is under powered to the point of being dangerous imho, but just that fraction more means you can realistically ride a bike like this as a mode of transport, and this comes in cheaper than many brand new 125cc bikes. With our licensing laws in the UK I doubt they'll sell many, which is a shame.

@Yurii Mahas, have you seen what a Honda Monkey can do? Agreed it may be a little uncomfortable for long distances and take too long. I live on the west side of the UK where roads are steep up and down, with bends from normal to tight to hairpin and sadly a cruiser isn't practical but 125s can cope well.

Thank you for the very good review, Glad you took time to learn the heal toe shifter, they are very easy to use. Just watched a video where the young guy would not take the time to learn them, it was to hard for him and he wanted to get rid of them, I do not understand people like that. So glad Royal Enfield is staying with them and the range per tank of gas is great, for us who like to travel the back roads where gas stations are far and few. I do like the look of the Classic, but not the smaller gas tank and no heal toe shifter. We do not have a dealer hear on the island ( Prince Edward Island.) but still think about getting one. Again thanks for the very good video.

Great looking bike, and, oh the extravagance! 8 colours! I’d seriously consider one were it not for the pegs, not a fan of mid pegs and heel-toe shifter but I guess it’s part of the cruiser vibe. It may put some newer riders off though. Looks like just enough power for country lines and light touring. Excellent review.

Royal enfield, also, do a couple of other variations on this 350 bike, that don't have the forward pegs, and the heel/toe shifter. The 350 Classic and, now, the 350 Hunter. I don't think the Hunter is available in the UK yet, though, as it's only just been released. The Classic is a wonderful looking bike.

I suspect that the forward pegs allow the seat height to be lowered. 765 mm for the Meteor 350 versus 805 mm for the new Classic 350 according to the specs. That's a big difference, perhaps a deal breaker, for the 'vertically challenged'. The Interceptor, at 804 mm, was too tall for me.

The rear shocks are truly shocking, the cat box rust's on some bikes, the screen is rubbish, but I love my meteor, my other bikes are neglected unfortunately, oh and I love the toe heel changer and hate the confusing tripper.
Edit. Now that I have a few more miles on the clock (2k) the engine seems to have eased up, I'm getting good milage, I would guess over 100mpg. Great bike. Oh and I think that RE have updated the tripper so it's easier to understand

I like the bike but I wish
    1. Higher top speed (140km/h), maybe liquid cool could help.
    2. Better brake.
    3. TCS. I just want maximum safety.😅
    4. LED light all around.
    5. Lower seat height, 70mm, to have a more cruiser like.
    I like
    1. Shifter, keep my shoe clean
    2. The navigation, it is better than nothing
    3. Seat
    4. Fuel consumption
    5. Lower seat height
    6. Speedometer

But, it could always use a little bit more power, I think that at 25hp, this would be absolutely lovely.
However, India is RE's main market and manufacturers get a rebate on taxation (I think) if they produce motorcycles that go below a certain speed, I'm not too quite clear on this though so don't quote me on it.

No such taxation rebate. In India its all about what mpg your bike gives. And less horsepower means less stress to the engine which translate to a many many donkey years of engine life. But yes 25hp would have been more apt.

@@Englishbikerdan I actually test rode three Enfields today during a demo day, the 350, the Himalayan, and the 650.
The 350 and 650 both look+sound really good, but I feel that the 350 and the Himalayan are underpowered. In contrast the Enfield 650 is a very fun motorcycle.

Royal Enfield have 60+ years of selling basic motorcycles to the masses. They know what people want and with the VAST array of accessories available and the very well established spares specialists out there, it will be a winner for R.E. I do appreciate that other manufacturers offer "Better" welded frames for example, but Mr and Mrs Average won't care. They'll see the RRP and choose the R.E. over the costlier thing almost without exception. You can see this in the current sales figures for the Meteor. I've got the Benelli equivalent to the 350 Classic. It is a better made thing, but no accessories and a slow parts delivery network are really holding their sales back.
