I'm very bad at crocheting in the round, so I thought I would never make a hat, then I found this pattern and made my first hat!! It's a little wonky and crooked but I guess the only way forward is to practice with making more of those hats 🥰
I’ve watched so many tutorials in the last two years learning to crochet and your slow and clear directions is what I have needed all along! Please continue to make content, youre a natural teacher!
Hello! I am a self taught "hooker" when I find a pattern with a Magic circle start I substitute it with a Ch 3 slip stitch into first chain and then crocheting into the middle of the circle you just made. It is stronger than the magic circle and you can crochet over the tail yarn to sinch the whole shut if needed or to have it already weaved in. I hope this helps in your future projects.
This is true for some projects Shannon. The magic circle does make the hole very small and tight though so again for some patterns it is better. To make the magic circle stronger you can wrap the yarn in a circle around your fingers twice then start your work. Then you have two yarns instead of one.
I just learned to crochet a couple days ago and immediately made this - thank you so much for the clear and easy directions! Super beginner friendly and helpful!
Thank you sooo much. I’m making hat for the homeless. This pattern works up quickly and I’m excited to make many for to keep these precious ones warm. Again, thank you so much
I'm doing the same, I've only been crocheting since November 2019, last year and I've made dozens of hat for friends. This summer I was looking for just this type of hat, warm, cute quick to make, to offer to the homeless this winter. These are perfect. Just want to add my thanks.
This is the easiest and BEST tutorial I have come across for a beginners beanie! My mom and I made our beanies and are in LOVE with them! Thank you so much for a very detailed, thorough, and fun beanie pattern! I truly enjoyed making it. I also love how you get back to your subscribers with any questions they may have for you, it truly shows that you enjoy filming these for us and helping us through our crochet journey. Keep the tutorials coming!
i’ve made around 3 hats and i’ve been on the look out for a tutorial that had less of a “bump” at the top. this seems like it’s what i need!! the single stitches at one end are genius. i can’t wait to try this tomorrow on my fourth hat!
I have made a few of these for newborns at my hospital. Wonderful pattern. One had a crocheted rose on top instead of a pompom. Adorable and snuggly either way! I've also started a small baby's coverlet in the same fashion (hdc blo) and it is coming along nicely. Thank you muchly, Jonna!
I think we all have small heads in our family because its quite loose at the bottom of the forehead but my husband is a big man 6"2 ....lol.directions were very easy. Thank you.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I know have a much neater closure to the top of my hats, by using your single crochet method on one end of the work. Very easy to follow all your instructions. At present I have around 20 hats made and ready to donate to the nearest homeless shelter. Cheers from Nova Scotia.

Yours is the best video on hats. You give number of stitches, and best of all you give the ACTUAL SIZE when on last row. 19 and 11 inches. Thank you so much I could not have finished off without your video 💖💖💖
thank you for this. it was easier that what i thought. i had got a little more than half done and realized, the beginning was wider than the end part. took it all apart and started over, reviewed the video 2 or 3 more times. thank you.
That’s okay! If you have all the right stitches, sometimes it’s just tension (looser or tighter stitches) taking it out like you’ve done is great practice though. Thank you for watching and commenting!

I just found you today. You are a good teacher and I plan to watch a lot of your videos. I am moving from California to Illinois next week so it will be awhile before I can check out more. Thank you
Hi! new here - in the future, can you put timestamps to the new rows if we will be repeating them? It took me forever to find the start of row two after i finished row three!
This is my first time with this hat pattern, so far am loving it. I think where other's are maybe going wrong is by using theses measurements, they have to either measure their own heads, or the person they are making them for. I hope this helps others. You explain everything so clear it is really easy to follow. Thank you
Hello, thank you for the video. I can’t locate the drop down menu for additional hat sizes. How many cast on stitches and rows would I need for a toddler size hat? Thank you!
Okay! All that is in my written on my Etsy or Ravelry shop. On Etsy is JonnaMartinezCrochet. Thank you for watching! I’m so happy you liked this pattern.
I love love love this! I have made 2 so far. The only issue I am having and continue to have, when I do 38 rows, it does't measure 19 inches wide and it doesn't measure 11 inches high. What am I doing wrong. I have to measure it before I make it a hat. What could I be doing wrong?
Does the hat fit the person you want it to fit ? Don’t worry about the dimensions of so. And if it doesn’t fit, add some more rows. This hat is very easy to customize. Crochet hook size, yarn weight and tension makes a huge difference in crochet.
I am new here& I love your clearly explanation of your tutorial with no music in the background to distract and slowly explained so you know exactly what youre doing. Thank you so much.Ihve already subscribed

Hi! new here - in the future, can you put timestamps to the new rows if we will be repeating them? It took me forever to find the start of row two after i finished row three!
Omg this is one of the reasons I suck at crocheting
Thanks for sharing love your pattern. It’s very easy and simple. That’s what I like. Thank you.

I did 2 of these right away and I love the easiness of the pattern and how lovely they turned out. This will be my go to pattern. Thank you. 😊
Currently making a second one.. The tutorial was helpful
Same. I made a yellow one for me and now a white with black specks one for my brother.
Yet again, thank you!!!!
This is my first time with this hat pattern, so far am loving it. I think where other's are maybe going wrong is by using theses measurements, they have to either measure their own heads, or the person they are making them for. I hope this helps others. You explain everything so clear it is really easy to follow. Thank you
LOVE it love it! Just was thinking I needed this for some friends in cold weather and couldn't find a good pattern, this is perfect. Thank you!

Great to hear! Thank you for watching!

Your yarn is probably thinner or thicker than what she used. Crochet a small swatch to get an idea of the number of stitches per inch.
