I liked how Arceus looked, some rough around the edges, but some shots look right out of a Japanese painting
I'm fully expecting this game to be a Q1 2025 release, so I'll be pleasantly surprised if they let it cook until November. And given how they're setting it in a denser, urban environment, I'm skeptical of how its final performance will turn out. Still, I loved PLA and I'm cautiously optimistic for this new one!
Fun fact: Pokemon red and blue had 6 years of development, making it the longest of the franchise
there is no way of knowing for sure how, long ideas are developed for, Like ZA will be 4 years dev time but XY had ideas not used and more ideas had to be made in the time since, also ZA likely will use PLA's game engine which would also have had years of dev possibly before the new team was officially making USUM.
It's so sad how far pokemon games have fallen.. During 3ds era pokemon games were praised for their incredible graphics.. Look at lumiose city itself. It was ahead of console.
It's quite naive to think Gamefreak is only developing Pokemon Legends ZA, I'm willing to bet that Gen 10 is also in active development, is well known that the Pokémon team within Gamefreak is divided into the main team, which always starts development of next-gen as soon as they deliver the previous gen...
Also, Game Freak is developing Project Bloom.
But yeah, I think the state will be better this time.
I just want a prettier, more stable and more complete Arceus. Legends is the best Pokémon series in my opinion. I will never buy another mainline. Scarlet, Shield and all the ones before were such disappointments.
Haven't played older games like bw 2 hgss aswell as ORAS and platinum have you?
@@indiradevi8136those games are 10 years old
@@Elpan7777 they r still some of the best in the series. Better than even legends arceus.
I think whats wild is how much better Arceus ran and looked than S/V. Arceus isnt perfect graphically by ANY stretch, but compared to S/V, its wild. And i love what S/V brought to the table
Ran better and had its moments, but SV looked much better most of the times.
That is definitely how art style can help make up for poor performance. Arceus had some very questionable design decisions and only decent performance and graphics.
I had no where near that amount of lag on the Kieran cut scene what the hell.
But anyway this could be right, but history tells me this game is gonna drop in January and then in February gen 10 will get announced for November of 2025. Even though it'd make sense to delay that game till 2026 for the 30th anniversary
Great video, very intelligent dive into the what and why just stating facts combined with realistic expectations and good faith
The Scarlet and Violet team probably aren't helping on Legends though, they're probably working on Gen 10
Pokémon Legends: Z-A is going to be Game Freak’s last chance.
I want 4-5 years of work for each game if they at least keep the two main games. GTA got like 10 years between the latest games. I'm not worried about remakes. I believe gen 10 will be a solid experience. Legends will be a great game also. SV were top 5 in my opinion
I played Pokemon from the very beginning. I played the game with poor back sprites and blotchy pixels. I still fell in love with the game. With way better graphics with PSV, you can believe I didn't count the glitches as a problem for me AT ALL. To each, his/her/they own though.
U guys see Pokémon as a game or any other series that’s either good or bad but it’s not that it’s more than that
It’s a culture and a lifestyle a living breathing world with a story and lore and characters
We form parasocial relationships with these fictional animals because we love them so much and they have so much personality and backstory
their dev time is 3-6 actually u just don’t feel it cuz they work on multiple projects simultaneously with the budget of a Disney channel movie around 15-20mil and they have to balance game release with the anime and the cards
Everyone can say pokemon should be like Zelda or xenoblade but those games don’t have an anime and a tcg they have to abide by it’s like jenga
And they may or may not share resources that part I’m unsure of
Hot take:
the point of Pokémon is to appeal to the widest audience possible and that there’s something for everyone from mainline to the anime to the spin offs
Well maybe if people got into the other avenues of the franchise rather than solely the games u wouldn’t be disappointed
Since the series was designed to be symbiotic with itself and to experience every avenue together for a complete experience
U guys need to reevaluate ur priorities Visuals, frame rate, art style are irrelevant
People are too focused on superficial nonsense
let’s be real u didn’t get into the original games for the graphics
And If u didn’t play games for the graphics as a kid then why would u play them for the graphics now
Sorry u forgot what the point of Pokémon was to begin with
Pokémon is always meant to be an entry level jrpg maybe the people trying to hate on pokemon maybe they just aren’t into jrpgs
If
The lore was good
The writing was good
The music was good
The vibes were good
The messages were good
The character designs were good
That’s all you really need
The series knows what it is and its niche(by niche I mean space) and what it wants to be and there’s nothing wrong with that and it doesn’t have to be anything else
The mainstream audience doesn’t care about graphics or bugs or anything they just like to vibe
People are just trying to make it something that is isn’t
And something that doesn’t fit its style
Maybe u don’t like Pokemon just aren’t into RPGs and that’s fine dont have to use that as an excuse to be toxic
If its not ur thing just move on imo
They’re gonna do their own thing and be their own thing in their own way

Calling pokemon “lazy” is lazy they got more to do than most devs they make two games and have to be symbiotic with the rest of the series and all this other stuff
They can’t delay the game they have a symbiotic release system
The games are leashed to the anime, tcg, etc and the anime, tcg etc is leashed to the games
Tpc is constantly playing a game of jenga trying to balance each of its branches
The games are in development for 3-6 years we just don’t feel it because a lot of times they work on multiple generations at the same time they have two teams the games have a 15-20 million dollar budget
They probably share resources
Maybe about the sharing idk
They have been working on Gen 10 for a few years now
Visuals,frame rate,art style are irrelevant
People are too focused on superficial nonsense

Can’t believe people still care about that frame stuff
I’m sorry people got so lost and brainwashed by the superficialities of the industry you forgot what Pokémon was originally about
And I know that the game isn’t perfect and that there’s issues
Pokémon is a franchise where the theme is friendship is magic and meeting cute and cool unique monsters
What the hell does graphics and performance have to do with those things?
Nothing if you wanna criticize a franchise criticize it on whether or not it delivered on the messages and themes it promised
Was friendship magic?
Did you meet cute and cool unique creatures?
Ok then it’s a good game
Those are what’s important to Pokémon
As the og theme said
Pokémon is about
Oh your my best friend in a world we must defend
I will travel across the land searching far and wide each pokemon to understand the power that’s inside
Our hearts so true our courage will pull us through
you teach me and I teach you”
That’s what it is about and that’s what it will always be about and if that’s what it continues to be about until the end
Then that’s a strong enough ending for me
Not sure what graphics and animation and performance has to do with that
Performance graphics those things never Mattered
You have to remember pokemon games have only been 3D since 2013 that’s pretty recent compared to other games like Zelda that have been 3D since the 90s and early 2000s so obviously they’re gonna be behind Mixed with the fact that They can’t delay the game because main console for only 5 years compared to Zelda since n64
The franchise was designed so that every aspect of it has a symbiotic relationship
The games can’t release without the anime the merch and the manga and the manga the merch and the anime can’t release without the games
And it’s about time you all understand that by now
They are doing their best trying to balance the games with the tcg and the anime
The Pokémon franchise is like a game of jenga
If you move one thing it all falls apart
They are doing the best they can sorry I’m the only one who appreciates that
Unless you want them to hypothetically release the Gen 10 anime and then wait till the anime gets to Gen 15 to release the Gen 10 games
they are still learning as they go so y’all gotta be patient and give them time to catch up
Their partnership with take two they’ll apply what they learn back into Pokémon so that’s good
You have to remember gamefreak are inexperienced with developing open world games so of course there will be some trial and error the more they work on and improve the game and do future games the better at it they’ll get
Rome wasn’t built in a day we need to be patient
Assuming we get more open world games
NOT TO MENTION ScarVi’s development was probably screwed up by the pandemic
Probably turned it upside down
And before u say just delay the game
They can’t delay the game
The franchise was designed so that every aspect of it has a symbiotic relationship

it’s not outdated it’s rebellious and nonconformist
They choose to live in their own bubble and be one of a kind and not imitate what everyone else does and they have my respect for that
the og games bugs are looked back on as charming
Give SV 20 years it’ll be the same
Running shmunning
1% mostly harmless isn’t a “technical disaster” it didn’t impede progress of the game u can get out of it think oh that’s weird and progress
Sure but the anime and TCG should be based around the schedule of the games, not the other way around. It's not a good excuse
the simple facts the old team made SV and the new team are making ZA who made arceus. Old team can't code nw team can.
I really don't care about the reasons why the games are trash. I stop preordering and buying at all.
Shame u had such a crappy time with sv. My first playthrough was great! Didnt have much bugs to note
honestly the last game I could officially play was sword and shield, being Visually Impaired, Pokemon and Nintendo seem to be pulling further away from E for everyone.
I would love a 2D/3D Pokémon game.
Eeh, i still feel it will be a technical disaster. Sales numbers speaks for itself. They dont need to put any effort into their games anymore.
so you just ignored all the evidence in the viedo lmao. its so clear its time and not that they dont put in effort cuz they do.
@@TheGamingTeam101Tgt101 you have way too much faith on GF..even when they continue to under deliver. The "evidence" means jack.
@@thatanonwholurksmoar7386this is the same guy who predicted how technical mess SV is gonna be... Before it's release..
2 hours of gameplay at most to the dlc ? you are such a liar. 😂
He said that to the epilogue that released this january, not the main DLC from november 2023.
@@ArgusLart hes wrong regardless neither are 2 hours.
@@gavinrhodes7645 The epilogue released in january is 2 hours tops, he is correct.
@@ArgusLart No.
@@gavinrhodes7645 Yes.
Modern Pokemon games play like trash. Sad to see the series go downhill when they had some amazing games like HeartGold/SoulSilver not too long ago.
7:57 you forget that Game Freak is divided up into sub-teams; they're not all working on just one game. Chances are there are like 3-4 games being worked on at the moment, so I doubt Legends Z-A will be as polished as it should be. Its saving grace is that it's coming in 2025, AKA it will have a Switch 2 version that will definitely look and play better just from the raw specs boost.
A technical disaster? That's overly hateful. I didn't have mant issues to say that. People online are overly negative.
@Blitz_BrightBurn It ran fine for me.
@Blitz_BrightBurn lol
Graphics Graphics blah blah. This is the reason game development is insanely expensive modern gamers care more about frame rates and ray tracing than game play and quality.
I care about the game being functional at the bare minimum. S/V was ugly, ran like garbage, and crashed several times before I saw the end credits. That's unacceptable for the most profitable media franchise on the planet.
It’s not so much 2k ultra hd retina melting graphics per say. I’d say it’s more execution on an art style. For example, 2d Pokémon still looks fantastic even though it’s on old hardware. 3d Pokémon doesn’t need to look like a ps5 release, but looking more along the lines of monster hunter stories 2 is more than enough. It doesn’t need to be high quality graphics, just a high quality execution is fine.
@@CronoEpsilon I definitely agree with both. I was more so arguing against the commenter insinuating that it’s unreasonable for Pokémon to look better by pointing at an issue in the industry that absolutely does not apply to Pokémon.
@CronoEpsilon I never experienced crash. I have the Physical copy. Digital version could be overheating the SD card and causing the crash.
@@timesplit--ter2742 Your anecdotes don't speak for everyone else. I also bought Scarlet physically and ran into too many issues.
I had since sold it for Tears of the Kingdom anyway and haven't looked back.
sorry but Scarlet and Violet wasn't a disaster and is far better than this bad game. Legends Z-A is the worst pokemon game in the franchise. It is worst than Legends Arceus. Bringing back Kalos and mega evolution was a mistake. This game needs to be cancelled.
We don't even have any solid info on them yet, not even an in game image. What is your rediculous opinion based on? 😂
@@GabrielBelzile not ridiculous. Legends Arceus was the worst game in the franchise and so will this game. Same lousy game play and mechanics. Fans need stop defending these Legends style games. The games are garbage.
@@JamieAlexander18 I heavily shit on game freak all the time so this has nothing to do with defending them. I genuinely think arceus was great and the best game in the switch era despite not having as much play time compared to SV.
I've played every single pokemon game (finishing each of them) since fire red so this isn't coming from a hater. SV feels like a big failure to me, I was very disappointed because of the terrible performance (to this day by the way, I was playing the DLC two days ago), but it's not just the performance, the gameplay is slow clunky, repetitive and not interactive enough among other things.
Don't get me wrong I still play these games because I love the pokemon franchise but a lot of the games since aplha & omega have felt really disappointing to me. What about Arceus don't you like? I think it's fantastic and the right direction for the games just needs more work.
@@GabrielBelzile Sword and Shield was the best pokemon Switch game. Legends Arceus being a stupid action RPG is not what pokemon games should be. The game play and mechanics don't work well. Battle system is terrible. The only things i liked about it was new pokemon, regional forms, distortions, changing time of day.
@@JamieAlexander18 While I did like Sword and shields new pokemon, the sporting event like gyms & art style. The story was boring and you were on rails 90‰ of the time and honestly it felt like a 3ds port. The only thing I could think of for people to really like it would be the competitive scene or the dlcs. Overall tho I expected way better.
Arceus wasn't perfect either, it was an experiment but the things it did right I believe are the future of the pokemon franchise. I like the catching machanic, it was interactive, made pokemon feel more real and interesting and kept the gameplay active. The fast and agile style needs work but the idea is to make battles more unpredictable and interactive, couldn't see it work in competitive tho. It gave us a reason to care about the pokedex, let you have all your pokemon out, gave us more mature and interesting dialog, gave you more reason to explore the world that felt satisfying.
I would like them to keep the legends mechanics and adapt them to the mainline games. The catching, pokedex mechanics, pokemon attacking you and resources and crafting from legends, the different riding pokemon and artstyle from let's go, the open world, competitive scene & grand adventure focus from SV, the expressive battle animations and narration from the stadium games, the special features of each creature from palworld (give us a reason to use unique pokemon, even if it's you need a pokemon of a certain types to do overworld stuff) and the interactive and immersive world of Tears of the kingdom. (the zonai items and physics kept me playing and trying new things or having unique experiences for hours on end. Pokemon could use new overworld pokemon abilites to achieve the same effect.) That is my ideal pokemon game.
Legends is the only games is giving me hope that we will see a truly amazing pokemon game in the future.
