If this game is set after XY (which is what I think) then maybe "the one" she talked about could be the protagonist of this game.
I think the 3-D stuff is just how the designer interprets Kalos in the future, with the game being set in the past. The 3D portions are book-ended by the parchment, and even when the title is shown you can hear a flame flickering or sound of old-school film. My guess is that Lumiose starts as a small village, with the five sections essentially being wild. As we progress, the land is filled with buildings and is more developed. I wouldn't look to closely into Lumiose's depiction in the trailer versus its image in the X and Y guidebook. The guidebook would only show what the player needs to know, and the map is really just an artistic interpretation of the city.
I agree but I also have a theory that it could be completely open world. I can see each of the sections having it's own biome/environment similar to the terrarium in the Indigo Disk
If I have to guess, we, as the player characters, will be working closely with the designer in this development, and since we are just kids, I find that utterly ridiculous 😅
I just hope We don't _have_ to keep returning to Lumiose just like in Jubilife to 'gain enough credit' to cross over into a new region. I mean as cool as the other elements would be, gating the game and so killing it's Open-world status would be a massive blow for me, (still most likely buy it cos I'm a fanboy lol.) Scarlet/Violet may be overall inferior games to PLA *but* for the Open world. There's a good reason it sold over *22 million, outselling Legends Arceus!*
@netweed09 I mean... the whole game is going to take place in just Lumiose City, so presumably, you won't ever leave it in the first place. That said, I hope they add wild areas that you can visit for "resources" and to catch pokemon as well

Seeing how Zygarde is based off the depictions of the serpent in drawings of the world tree, I believe, especially with the leaf like patterns on the "A", it will be a pokemon possibly based on the world tree itself
Bringing back Mega Evolutions for the Legends game is actually a great idea.
The first legends game was about living and coexistence with Pokemon. Mega Evolutions are a strengthening of the bonds between Pokemon and Trainer with the stone acting as the catalyst for that bond being reflected in their new form.
Seems to fall in line with how legends is conveying the growing norm of pokemon being a part of our every day lives
I think Lumiose City will likely be larger in terms of what we can explore but not geographic size. Remember, most cities in Pokémon games have been 6 buildings and 8 people lol
I do like the idea of finally being able to explore an actual truer-to-size city in a Pokemon game, like, a city city… a get lost in and call a taxi to rescue you city, instead of a glorified collection of three to five houses and a bunch of decorative buildings with real fake doors.
@@AbeM. Hm, I dunno I remain sceptical as it's highly unlikely We'll get to explore outside Lumiose City. I mean, you do want Cities in games to carry a bit more detail but this is going a bit _too_ far lol. I don't think I'll be buying the game if it confines Us to just 1 place as there's no good reason to exclude the rest of Kalos from the game in this day and age. But here's hoping - let's see how good the Quality and other aspects of the game are.

One thing I noticed is that the legends arceus protagonist wears a shirt that comes from kalos in the beginning of the game. So perhaps Legends ZA is perhaps a direct sequel to Legends Arceus

- The title is just pronounced "zee ay" (or "zed ay"), not "Z-to-A". The Japanese Nintendo site transcribes the Z-A as "zetto ē" (ゼットエー)
- It's worth mentioning that the building sketch in the trailer is highly reminiscent of Haussmann style Parisian architecture, which originated during the Paris renovation in the mid-late 19th century; this seems like it would be the IRL inspiration for this Lumiose urban redevelopment concept.
- Some have speculated that the public works group may be called "Quasar" due to the logo and the text in its wordmark
The thing I'm worried about now is that "Legends" as a sub category of pokemon game might actually refer to the broad concept of "expanding lore about the region" rather than meaning itll be the same gameplay loop like Arceus was. Perhaps Z-A is gonna be like a town building game and not be anything like Arceus.
Change is nice, but shaking it up that much seems like a huge shift. Staying cautiously optimistic about what Z-A will offer.
a gta like pokemon game will be epic ,you go underground ,do side missions in city build your home,battle ,catch hidden wild pokemon seems like yakuza x pokemon to me
I get this worry, because i have the same worry, but i dont think pokemon would be that dumb, they would make an app for that before they made a hugely desired game into a city builder yk. I mesn they never changed the og pokemon format so why would they for this?
And even if they would go in a different direction after all, what would wrong about that? At least they'd try something new with the Pokémon franchise again. Plus, Legends Arceus got boring real quick, so this new game is going for a different approach, it might actually end up being fun.

The Paris Redevelopment Plan which this new one is clearly based on involved taking on a lot of wilderness surrounding the city to build it up into something new, so I could see it being that you're going through wilderness to help clear out danger for the construction
So, about the theory where the Ultimate Weapon created the Great Creater of Paldea: Pokémon Scarlet & Violet actually deconfirms this, it's said that the Creater in millions of years old, so it can't be true, since the Ultimate Weapon is only 3000 years old

I actually think that Lumiose City might not be as advertised in the trailer, and may look more like something out of 1984 or RoboCop.
My favorite theory that my friend came up with was that urban redevelopment could mean post war redevelopment, exploring how the people of kalos were effected by this war. But seeing how A-Z is like thousands of years old maybe not 🤷♂️
Any reference to Hausmann? He redeveloped Paris in the mid 1800s, around the Belle Epoque

If the whole game takes place in one city perhaps we'll get to travel through different points in history and explore Lumiose City at different points in time so even if the game takes place in one city exploring that city throughout different time periods would make it feel bigger. I'm hoping that's the case at least.

Personally, I hope they incorporate the Paris Catacombs somehow. Would be a cool place to catch some ghost types, and they could add some ruins to give some lore about the Great War.

I think the game taking place entirely in Lumiose City is overall meant to be a showcase that the Legends games are meant to be more experimental compared to the regular games, in that each game will be something different and stand out on its own, instead of just being the same thing.
But anyways Mega Evolution is back baby, if we also have regional forms in the mix, this could be the best Legends game so far!
We know that the size of Lumiose city felt relatively small in X&Y but that was because of the 3DS's hardware at the time. Other renditions of Lumiose City in artwork, anime and other games (smash bros stage) shows that the actual city itself, much like it's IRL Paris counterpart, is huge! So perhaps this Urban Redevelopment Plan will allow us to expand and reshape the entire city to our liking but also have us be able to explore multi-tiered environments of the city where Pokemon have been given free reign to inhabit - a bit like Ryme City from the live action Detective Pikachu movie.
A is definitely most likely a new legendary, also its the past the document and camera has that old timing sound, i think Lumiose will be expanded majorly i think at the start of the game it wont be built and slowly it will start
Few ideas:
You start after the war. The weapon made some Pokemon go "crazy" and mega evolve. You must go to the different regions and capture them, kinda like the nobles in PLA. Each time you find a Zygarde cell.
Another could be, you start in modern times. Each circle in the town is kinda like a portal. You have to go into each portal to find Zygarde cells.
Or something with team flare, Zygarde, and the ultimate weapon.
The architectural drawings at the begining show classic / old buildings because that's how architecture is in Paris in real life. Doesn't mean this is set in the past. Also the type of paper used is just craft paper commonly used for confidential stuff and thus not linked to the past as well.

The scrapped AZ Floette event Pokemon might finally be used! And maybe Ash-Greninja! AZ’s Floette has been fully functional in the game files for year and was even fully functional in Pokémon Home since launch!

Actually the color of "Pokémon Legends" in Arceus is green and Zygarde is green.
In ZA it is colored grey, Kyurem is grey.
Z-A: Look at the letters, Z has some modern/human/artifical hexagons on it, while A has something that looks like trees on it. I think, it might tie into time travel. Explore the city how it is now (or in the future X...Y...and now Z) and travel back in time and explore how it started with A. This would also explain how it is connected to Legends Arceus, why its even a Legends game and how it can be set just in a city (in the past its mostly nature)
Gnoggin pondered the game taking place in the past in a similar time to when the Eiffel Tower was built in our own world which is the same time frame of when Japan expanded into Hokkaido which is what Legebds Arceus' events were based on.
I might have a kinda-theory. Lumios city is based on Paris who had a huge urban plan that transformed the city into its hausamnnian style. And the first images of the trailer look very similar. Also the city of Paris is currently working on a green plan to have a more plants. Maybe that a connection too. Zygard and the A in the logo does remind me of an ecological theme. And there is clearly a confrontation between technology, light, vegetation, human and Pokemon.

How do you actually pronounce this game name anyway? No official media uploads have the definitive way to say Z-A.
Well, the official Japanese Pokémon website lists the title as:
「ポケモンレジェンズ・ゼットエー」
_("Pokémon Rejenzu Zetto Ei")_
..."Zett" _(zetto)_ being their way of saying "Z," so it's just the letters Z.A. The hyphen is not read aloud.

aha I love these analyses, takes me back a decade ago to watching gamexplain videos scrutinizing every single detail that could be gleaned from the trailers.
There was an actual big redevelopment of Paris in 1800s, around the same time Legends Arceus takes place. So I do still think that its a prequel
I also thought that the A stand for a new legendary pokemon and that the new pokemon would be the Chaos Pokemon, since Zygarde is the Order Pokemon.

I believe the “futuristic tron” display was to show the vision of what the city could potentially be. Not what the world will be when we play it. Kind of like the city developers vision coming through as he describes it to someone listening to his dream.
I'm starting to think more and more that the game may just be set both in the past and the future.
This could explain why Lumiose City is shown as a sort of blueprint in the trailer.

My first instinctual thought based off the trailer was that it looked more likely to take place after X and Y rather than before. But it is hard to say. How the people dress and stuff, like u mentioned I think is what got me thinking that.
Becareful of using how people are dressed as a tell. Remember in universe the tech is way more advanced than say comparing to irl technological advancement. For me looking at it from the in universe lens it will take place in the let's call it "modern past" the redevelopment of the city in what we see in x/y that's the finished product of the urban redevelopment. What we are more likely to see is the stages leading up to that construction.
Basically x/y is the completion of the redevelopment
Legends Z-A is the beginning stages of the redevelopment
@@koyutakota7137 you could very well be right. That was just my initial first thought upon seeing it. But either way, it is fun to speculate. No one knows for sure when it will take place yet.
Its urban development/section off because when you do something in the past, a new/close off area in the future opens up as a way of progress. Kinda like the last Legends game, you collect the quest in the town, you go to the area outside of town do those quest come back to town to turn them in and get new quest which in turn opens a new area outside of the town.
I also think we doing a past to future thing because they kept doing old to modern and back to old. The title card has the letter Z looking digital while the A looks forest like and its Z - A like its going backwards in the alphabet i.e. going backwards in time.
Based on the leaf-like veins on the A, I believe it may be referencing an alternate form of Xerneas, who is known to be able to take the form of a tree. Though, I suppose it's also possible for it to be a completely new legendary that expands the relationship between Xerneas, Yvaltal, and Zygarde. So many possibilities.

Imagine we have to defend the city like in AoT, but its just Zygarde in his Ultimate-Form trying to stop the city from growing somehow because its knowing that deep down the city there is something that should be awaken.

The fact the X and Y legendary were miss in Scarlet and Violet could have been the hint at a game base in Kalos region would be next.
Idont think, ZA is only in Lumiose City. In the original japanese post it says „begins in lumiose city“
I’ve seen no one mention this but I do believe we will get a new “A” legendary. The scales on the letter “Z” are hexagonal bc of course, Zygarde, but if you look at the scales on the letter “A,” they are smooth. If you look at Pokémon XY’s logos the X and Y both share design features with Xerneas and Yveltal. The “X” has horns reminiscent of Xerneas and the “Y” has Yveltal’s wings and tail, so the “Z” having Zygarde’s hexagonal scales makes sense, but then what does that mean about the “A” then? 👀 also not to mention the way the letter Z was animated vs. the letter “A.” The “Z” and “-“ were animated the same, but the “A” did not share this animation to show that it is indeed different as in a different pokemon perhaps.
Each one of the 5 circles could be areas in which certain pokemon thrive. ( like the blueberry academy terrarium)
The XYZ season of the anime deals with Zygarde a lot more than the games, and includes a big conflict in Lumiose city. I’d imagine most of this game’s plot will take from that.
This is a huge stretch and completely crazy, but what if the battle mechanic in this game was real time Pokémon battles?
I also agree with you that it is set after X/Y. Also I think like how Arceus ends up being both the reason for why the playable character is there but also the final boss (sort of). I think the same will happen with Zygarde. The player will have some sort of connection to Zygarde (maybe it rescued 15% Zygarde) and that is why it chose the player to be a part of the redevelopment plan. Also like with the Z in the name has a pattern like Zygard. I think the pattern of A is also mean to represent a Pokemon. So I think a new Legendary/Mythical Pokemon that is either Bug or Grass (pattern suggests both to me) will be revealed. One more thing since it's Z to A maybe the A actually represents a final Zygarde form. Although not certain what could exist beyond the 100% form. Oh wait is Zygard able to mega evolve? If no maybe the A is actually meant to be Alpha and it represents an Alpha version of Zygarde. Either way I'm looking forward to hearing more about this game
I hope we'll get to explore more than the city but that might not be happening after seeing this
If it's entirely in Lumiose, It's gotta be MASSIVE, even bigger than the BB terrarium.
We could very well be seeing the first Pokémon game with time travel if the title Z-A concerns past to future. The Z looks futuristic and the A looks somewhat natural/floral. If you ask me, the game’s theme could be the conflict between industry and nature. Wishful thinking but could make for an incredible game.

Is anyone wondering that this game could take place after the events of X and Y? I mean the logo that appeared in the presentation who most likely proposed the plan is too modern for it to take place in the past like the 1800s. The simplified design is widely used just around or after X & Y was released. Back then, the logos have that embossed look.
Desperately want us to be traveling back and forth between the present and past to build the city to our will
I have two ideas on what the enemy team can be. One is called team revolt, which aims to stop the reconstruction due to seeing it as destruction of history. The second is the mysterious company that shows the blueprints and aims only for profit, not caring for either pokemon or people. Either one will inevitably awaken zygarde to raise the stakes further.
I would love for there to be catacombs like a dungeon

I was thinking it would take place in the future. Somewhere between present and future in scarlet. And the main character would be from paldea considering how, in legends arceus, the main character is from galar. (You can tell because of the t-shirt)
Hisui was more old fashioned the other regions are likely more advanced in terms of connections with Pokémon so they likely wouldn’t be as dangerous
Maybe a zygarde cell will join us from the start like miraidon/koraidon did in SV but in stead of sandwiches we must collect the cells to power it up.
It's obvious this take place in the present or during the time of X & Y when Gen 6 and 7 had mega evolutions. Mega Evolution is an phenomenon that only occurs in the Kalos Region. We might even dig in to the past of Mega Evolution with Rayquaza being the first Pokémon to Mega Evolve.

maybe if the game is only in Lumiose City- then we will visit it during three time periods - the war, mid construction, and the future after X & Y
If we can meet ancestor of current-time NPC in PL: Arceus (the past), could we possibly meet the descendants of the current-time NPC in PL: Z-A (further future)? 🤔 I hope Lumiose City is just one part of the map, like starting point in Jubilee City in PL: Arceus, you get your starter in Lumiose then explore other places to complete the game….

Z-A future to past
The A looks similar to the Delta symbol which makes me think of the also green-coded Delta Episode.
I've come up with a theory, unlikely as it is, about the premise at the tail end of the Past or Future section. My theory is that the game takes place in both. You, the player character, work for an organization that wants to expand Lumiose City but can't due to the current infrastructure. So you are sent back in time to when Lumiose City is still be developed so that the infrastructure for expansion can be but in place before it's needed. Going back and forth through time as needed to help develop the city. It's a long shot though so take it with a grain of salt.
Given that Lumiose City is being "redeveloped" means its been finished once and is being expanded and if it truly wants to be a place shared by both people and pokemon meaning it would have a few sections of axtual wild mons like a mini wild area we have to consider it being in the future especially since the tower itself is already futuristic i just cant see them wanting to be in process of builidng the tower. Seriouspy though i do hope we can explore outside of lumiose city it would be lame to only explore a small tiny section of Kalos even if its absolutely massive

My theory is we get to play in past and present Lumiose with Celebi allowing us to travel in between.

A leak stated that a character in The Indigo Disc represented a hint towards a future game. That does technically lie outside the scope of this video, so does anybody know if this is a potential lead?
Ok so I have a theory so with the z-a concept what if there's a pun in the title zygard of course starts with z but what pokemon ends in A? Raquaza! Ok so where introduced to lumiose as out starting point so our z but we end on the mega symbol as our a and what legend doesn't need a mega stone to transform? Also note the green emerald like shine the A comes in while it could represent the ultimate weapon it could also represent the greek letter delta or the delta episode thus the protector or the green vs the sky dragon! Tldr; the a could be raquaza and that could mean a legends battle (also the leaf pattern on the a could be scales)
I wonder if this new upcoming Pokemon game might/could introduce a couple new Mega Evolutions 🤔. They have said before that they were going to make a Mega Flygon, but then scrapped that. This game would be a good opportunity to bring in the Mega Flygon they were going to originally make.

You know if we consider this a sequel and concept to Pokémon Legends Arceus, sense why they would want to redo the city. Introduced to the very awesome concept that pokeballs and capturing were new during Pokémon Legends Arceus and that Pokémon were seen as wild and dangerous creatures. Very few Pokémon were kept inside human establishments and were essentially banned to the outside wilderness. This sounds like a spiritual successor where enough understanding between humans and Pokémon have now happened that their prop were redoing luminous city from what was probably a fortified human city that prevented Pokémon from coming in to a city, where now humans in Pokémon coexist like how the current version of luminous city is as per every single town in city and modern Pokémon. Probably looking at the first major urban and human settlement development that directly integrity would offer some interesting social upheavals both good and bad. Especially imagine traditionalist and Pokémon skeptics hating this. Like imagine the covid anti-maskers but it's Pokémon instead arguing that Pokémon are mysterious dangerous creatures and should be left that way and should be kept out of human civilizations at all costs. Would make very interesting antagonist.
Regarding the title. There's a lot of questions on whether or not this game is going to be a Switch 2 game. If it's a cross gen game, that would also fit the name, since it would represent the end of the Switch (Z), the transition to new hardware (-), and the beginning of the Switch 2 (A). Additionally, I'm wondering if the A legendary might be an opposite/counterpart to Zygarde as well. Maybe since Zygarde represents balance and order, the A legendary represents chaos and change? Perhaps the Ultimate Weapon was created using the A legendary's power and it has the power to both kill and revive because those are both agents of change? It'd be especially juicy lore wise if it turned out that this A legendary actually instigated the war 3000 years ago somehow, not because it's evil, but it sees war as an instrument of change and growth.

Something I haven’t seen ppl talk about is how would we catch and encounter Pokémon in a city ? Idk they could just do biomes and stuff like ppl are saying but idk it just something that itches my brain on it how would work

I have a feeling that the city was left destroyed if not heavily damaged after the war, hence why it’s being rebuilt.

The original legend has Pokémon attacking you because people were scared of Pokémon and they was wild. Here they are not because it says Pokemon and people working and living together. So it presents and maybe future. So people need to stop comparing them when they only have the name that all.

Now We get HD Megas _plus_ an inevitable future gen 5 re-Make on almost certainly the new Switch hardware which by no means will be a Chibi-style and will just make sense as gen 5 lore and gameplay contained some pretty grand architecture, and a very beautiful Elite 4 building and set up.

Mewtwo was part of the original XY dex. If all pokemon in the XY dex return, then without Time Travel, it has to be set at least in the last 20 years.
I seriously can’t visualize an entire Pokémon game in a city where you capture around 250 pkmn including legendaries, this means no caves, no ruins, no mountains, no lakes, no forests, let alone have alpha Pokémon walking around or raw materials to craft.
The only theory I can make is that the city has been invaded and attacked by basically every Pokémon of the region and that’s why you come into a post apocalyptic city where Pokémon created their own ecosystem within the city using their elemental powers
