In my opinion, before a fast you need something high in nutrition and vitamins before the fast like liver and milk. But you need to drink water during the fast, also drinking water is a good way to decrease your hunger. Drinking water helps your body breaking down body fat into energy..
❤❤❤❤
I just purchased one. Thank you Dr. Ekberg
Won't ingesting electrolytes break your fast? Kick you out of autophagy and/or ketosis?
@@MsCaterific electrolyte water is just a scam to make you spend more money on stuff you dont need. All it is, is just water with a tiny bit of salt in it. Just get eat like 2 grams of salt everyday and your body will make all the electrolytes you need.
Dear Dr. Sten. I watch you religiously. I have been diabetic2 for forty-odd years. Now…82. Received my lab work yesterday with comments from my endocrinologist. The stats were so good , I stood dumbfounded in the foyer. I am blessed.
Great news 🎉
You put in the work. 🎉🎉🎉
❤️This is truly wonderful, at any age💪 for those of us who are lucky enough to discover it! And at the same time horribly discouraging to recognize how our corporate system is trying to make us all so profitably sickly😢
Thrilled that you have had this lucky chance and made it work so well.
Are you on diabetic oral meds? Is so, do you cut back/stop during fasting?
@@caroldenbow2124 my four diabetic meds all act differently … only 18 units of insulin daily. Also preemptive meds for BP…which hovers around 125/65
I've been fasting 20:4 for more than 3 years and not only did I lose 103 pounds...and keep it off, I've helped two other people reverse type 2 diabetes. I appreciate that it is meant to be impossible to reverse type 2, but the blood results of these two individuals are comparable to a healthy person now.
Technically , diabetes is chronic, IF you return to bad habits your symptoms return. Eat right!

Great job!
Diabetes can be reversed by restricting calories to 700 calories per day for 12 weeks, the main cause of diabetes too much visceral fat, this could happen even if you don't look overweight,. Visceral fat blocks signals
Just finished a 5 and a half day fast. Broke the fast gently with fat and avocado. Then some plain Greek yogurt and sauerkraut. Then some steamed broccoli with evoo. Then finally for dinner had some raw veggies and sausage and sauerkraut. Feel great today.
Have been doingOMAD for a month. Lost 65 lbs in 4 months. Following Dr Stens advice. Feel so energetic and healthy now.
Thanks for the great information Dr.
I did something similar after a 72h fast. Broke it witH MCT Decaf, then 45 min later ACV and sauerkraut, then 45 min later avocado, then 45 min later some turkey. Felt great
Congrats. Just started my 5 day fast today. How much weight did u drop over the 5 days?
@@JoeyMo973 hello I dropped 10 lbs of water weight or whatever. Obviously a lot came back. Lost after all said in done probably 4 lbs and kept it off.
@@Soidog23did a week…the body get used …like everything!😉
@@Soidog23yes sorta. The first 3 days was a breeze as I had already did a couple 3 day fast before. Day 4 I was over it. I no longer felt great but felt over it. Day five was also not so great. I really felt like everything past the 3 day mark was for nothing. For now on, I’ll only fast 3 days. My goal was 7 day’s fasting but I never made it.
Sometimes I have a feeling that Dr. Ekberg and Dr. Berg is one person
Since I discovered keto and IF prior to doing my first proper prolonged fast I would have worried about this. However after doing a few longer fasts and my longest "2-day-fast one-meal then 3-day-fast" I've found my body can just push through a 3 day prolonged fast with no food craving, just water a vitamin-pill and some salt, maybe a black coffee, with no other prior preparation. Thank you Dr Ekberg.
You are welcome @SpamMouse. Thank you for watching. 😄
@@drekberg With respect Sten your videos are not watched, they are studied. Have a great weekend.
@@SpamMouse Yes, and if internalized, like a good Ketogenic meal, they produce life-saving results! I've done the same thing with Dr. Sten's messages. I started IF with OMAD and then my first attempt going beyond 24 hours failed at 26 hours, but after that, when I internalized one of his favorite phrases, "It's just hunger," I easily sailed through a 3-day and then a 4-day fast (which I only broke because we were going out to dinner the next day and I didn't want to "kill myself" with a big meal after a 5-day fast). It's SO EASY. And, get this, I had the imaginary "disease" of "hypoglycemia" before I started. At 51 I'm finally FREE of being in BONDAGE to food. *Thank you, Dr. Sten!!!! Many blessings be returned to you!!!*
@@allhimwithme5115 good stuff , I just finished a 3 day fast . I feel much better after fasting . I have discovered that 3 days fasting ( for me ) does not have the re- feeding issues , though if a do a longer fast ( 8 days was my record , but usually 4 or 5 days ) I have messed up with re- feeding and had very uncomfortable stomach aches . Now if more than 3 days ,I will break the fast with a thin broth ,then a light carb reduced meal in the evening .
I’m my 3 day fasts I still train with weights , but if more than 3 day fast I will not train after day 3 - some say they do , but I have tried it and did not feel to comfortable with it .
In August I’m going to do a 10 day fast with zero gym work only walking .
Keep healthy .
Found your site by chance about two months ago. Divine providence if you ask me. I WAS type 2 diabetic, hight blood pressure, suffered anxiety and a number of other ailments. Since I started IF on 12 hours and now doing 18 hours with a six hour window with one meal. Diabetes normal and meds reduced, ood pressure normal and feeling young internally. Family have noticed weight reduction in 7 weeks 99kg now 82 and moving forward. No longer hungry, food smells no longer tempting and so much good happening for me at 73 and feeling healthy and younger and happy. Thank you Doctor, your videos are phenomenal and I'm your no one fan. You are truly a blessing by divine intervention
15:40 when I was addicted to carbs and frequent eating, I'd pass out if I had my lunch delayed and some stress on top of that. My doc told me to always carry some sugar in my pocket, just in case. So basically he was pushing me even harder towards diabetes. Luckily, I've found Dr. Ekberg and his videos and now I can fast as much as I like, I am in control, not the food.
How you gain control over it ? I mean i am in the same situation. I can’t fast at all. If i skip a meal, i feel the same as you mentioned above.
@@uzairahmed558 Check out Eckberg's other videos on the topic, but essentially:
-take it easy: start with two weeks where, in two or three separate days, you delay breakfast and anticipate dinner, for one or two hours. Then other two weeks, same days, increase the delay/anticipation. At a certain point you'll see that hunger does not increase linearly but will regress, after some time. This is the moment where you can fully skip breakfast or dinner, depending on your preference. 16:8 is thus achieved, you can then extend that regimen to other days of the week
-to make things easier, eat satiating foods, i.e. low on carbs, not too sweet, not ultra processed.
-keep yourself busy during the last hours of fasting. Work, workout, do laundry, whatever, just keep your mind so busy it can't think of food.
-mindfulness meditation can also help to dominate cravings.
You have to lower your carbs first. This will force your body to be fat adapted. Then your body will burn fat instead of carbs.
Free simplified education right here guys, thank you so much.
💯
Thank you @hustlamaan for letting me know. I really appreciate the feedback. Thanks for watching.😄
I recently did my first lengthy fast (for me) - which was 61 hours. I took an electrolyte water and took Irish sea moss. I had moments of feeling very slightly hungry and a slight headache but otherwise really easy. It's been the best experience of my life and I'm really seeing the benefits now. I can't wait to find a window of time to do another.
Your window is the next 4 days! It feels great to feel proud of these accomplishments and a longer life to LIVE!
*Why do ALL WooKers, use DeMonicUserNames???*
May I ask when did your headaches and hungry kick in bad(24-30 hrs?) and when did you stop having the headaches? I really want to try 24,48, and 72 hours but want to build up.
@@robertbrown1021 around the 48 hour mark. Honestly I just went to bed and it was fine the next day but like I said - it was only mild anyways
@@robertbrown1021usually the headaches during an extended fast is from low electrolytes. Add them to your water, they will not break your fast. Works for me every time. God Bless you
I found that i kind of naturally started fasting after eating very low carb, high fat to reverse t2d. Found that without the carbs...processed foods and sugar, i just was not hungry all the time. Gradually was down to OMAD bc it was just easier..lol. Now 2 yrs later, healthiest ive been in over 20 yrs at age 64. Excellent labs, down 88 lbd, reversed t2d , no hbp, off ALL meds , except very low dose levothyroxine . Even that med has been lowered significantly from 2 yrs ago. Feel amazing!!!

I love the fact that there are no edits (certainly not noticeable anyway) in your videos. Which says a lot about your knowledge and the information you are providing 👍🏻
Small framed I have gone from 15% to 11% body fat by intermittent fasting 20/4 that I started about 6 months ago. It works well , Im seldom hungry . Using Euvexia electrolyte in the morning helps alot with feeling vital and ready to work. Age 70 , 5'10" , 144 pounds I have,
better energy and increased natural walking pace. I walk 3 miles or more daily. My only regret is that I didn't know about this remarkable diet earlier in life . At one time in my poor eating past, I had weighed nearly 200 pounds @ 25% body fat. I could have had alot more lean and vitality years if I had only understood what I needed to do. But at least I'll live out these last years feeling and looking far better . Thank you dearly Sten.
Thanks Doc, this video has cleared up some confusion for me. Your presentations have been quite valuable in my quest as a senior to become fit and improve my golf game! Been on a Keto diet for 3 years now, 65 years young, 6ft, went from a portly 220 to a stable 160lb currently. Breakfast usually 5am, lunch around 10am-11am, depending on when I get home from the golf course. 6.2 mile hike around my home course, generally play fast, borderline speed golf & under 3 hours, averaging well over 100 miles walking per month, year round. IES diagnosis: YOU ARE HUNGRY!!
My wife isn't into fasting, even though she needs to lose weight as much as I do, but that's another story. Because I can't get her to participate, I chose to do the cold
turkey method and simply stopped eating worthless carbs. I started off with 16 hour fasting (no food after 8:00 pm and didn't eat anything until 12:00 pm the following
day).
It worked fairly well, but I wanted to turbo charge my results so I migrated to 20 to 22 hour fasting. I've got a long way to go, but the weight is really coming off.
I was even been able to take 4-5 days off fasting (summer vacation to the beach), but didn't go wild with carbs even though they were everywhere. I was able to get right
back into the fasting routine and have been able to drop another 5 pounds since then.
Once you get into the routine, and remember to stay hydrated, your body rapidly adapts to burning fat and the nagging hunger pangs go away fairly quickly.
Honestly, it’s amazing how people around you start to follow after they see your results. Just keep it up either way
Fantastiskt!

That confusion is exactly what gave me my all my health problems, and since I’ve followed Dr Eckbergs health advice that I’m in remission from the carb doomsday. Thank you Sten Eckberg for assisting lay people in proper nutrition.
Hi Dr Ekberg, I’m from Iran and by watching your wonderful videos on UA-cam started doing keto diet & IF. and the result was great and in these 81 days lost weight specially in my belly.
The type that you explain and teach is so good that even someone like me who is far away and didn’t t know anything about keto diet&IF was convinced to do it.
So Thank u thank u very much Dr.🥰
Please, if possible, can you give us more information about doing long fasting for women’s during their menstruation?

Still doing 16/8 fast and so much energy. Love you videos and teaching.
I have an analytical mind, and I struggled for nearly 30 years to reconcile the inconsistencies in the nutritional guidelines of the "experts". Regardless of the diet or suggestions, there were always holes in their reasoning that didn't align with my experiences and/or the fundamentals of true science. After watching many of Dr. Ekberg's videos explaining how the body works, all the pieces have fallen into place for me. I've done the research, and he makes perfect sense! Thank you, Doc!
Thank you for explaining the science of this. It helps me envision what is actually going on in my body and for the way I'm wired, that helps me want to stay on track! 💪🏼
Hi Dr. Ekberg.......I was pleased to see you addressed my question about people who get physically ill when they go without food for maybe 4 or 5 hours. I was talking about 2 people in particular my wife being one of them. She has actually gotten dizzy and nauseous if she goes too long. She has been diagnosed as pre-diabetic. The other person is full blown type 2 diabetic. I am pushing higher fat and less carbs encouraging less bread and more avocados. It has been working for me and I have tried both omad and 3 day fasts. Thank you for your videos!.....
You are welcome @pyralux01. 😄
I started listening to your IF videos in December of '22 after I found my A1C @ 7.9. As I learned and followed the recommendations my belt started becoming too large. That was @ 36". I kept listening and learning and making mistakesas my A1C dropped to 7.2. I had to then make a new hole in my belt then A1C of 7.0 then another hole to tighten the belt, then another hole and a Dr. Visit with an A1C of 6.0 w fasting glucose of only 39.😮 The call from my Doctor proclaiming a 25# weight loss and stop all Diabetes meds. Bought a new belt continuing to learn and OMAD. Then in 3 months, another visit, 148 weight, 5.0 A1C and a total weight loss of 60#. Now off BP and diabetic meds. Sporting that new belt in the last hole to the inside, 28" waist. I regularly follow OMAD or an 18/6 when a social function like Father's day necessitates such. Thank you, I keep watching as now lots is ingrained so I consider it practice. I did a couple of two day fast which really disturbed my adult daughter who works in Elderly care, cause @ 69 she thinks I am "one of them". When I shared my plan with her last month to do a 5 day fast she begged me to "don't do that Dad, Please?". I of course relented to her and promised not to go past 2 days. Being who I am I did the 2 day, then a 1 day followed by another 2 day. No breaks (of course) I finished that off feeling great, clear and "like a champion". Now I understand eating to live. This is going to be my lifestyle for as long as I Live. Thank you for throwing me the bouy!
the mind is powerful. if someone is convinced they cannot go without food, they'll never accept IF. and since high carb eating gives short term satiety, a craving to eat is just 3 hours away. add in the emotional need to eat something sugary or bread or fried, it's gonna be hard to get a high carb eater to change.
Cinnamon can be good for regulating blood sugar, but I think it needs to be Ceylon Cinnamon not Cassia Cinnamon. might be worth trying to get her to consume some as part of a drink or in some food then seeing how long she can go without food.
Also dizzy and nauseous are probably signs of insulin resistance and it is mimicing hypoglycemia...use a blood A1c monitor to see if her sugars actually dip or if this is stable while the dizziness and nauseousness occur.
Does she consume any fat like butter or cream to give her body something else to work with other than sugar?
@@mettamorph4523 this also applies to learned behaviours and being stalwart believers in the 3 meals a day or the 3-6 small meals a day being the best way to eat to have energy all through the day because their doctor scared them about hypoglycemia.

My wife and I have been doing IF and Keto for some time now. For the past month, we’ve gone OMAD (One Meal A Day, one hour eating window). It’s unbelievable how much energy I have during the day. I’m down 4” in pant size, back to a weight I was in my mid twenties and no longer a T2D. You really have to train your body like Dr. E says, but the results speak for themselves. Your body will adapt. I’m going to try the Euvexia and see how Thant works for me.
Do you miss food though?
I love preparing meals for my family. Just to do it once a day would break my heart 😂
@natashanugent7819 yes, it is definitely a love affair with food, and the thought of limiting that in any way will break your heart. But that lover can also give you a black eye. It can destroy your life if you're unwilling to try anything else.
Just wanted to say thank-you for all you do. I've been viewing your videos frequently over the last year, and they have been so helpful in getting back on the right track for a healthy lifestyle. I was very athletic for most of my life, but started to let myself go when work began taking up much of my time. Now, at 36 years old, I'm in better physical shape than when I was in college, and feel healthier than I ever have! And I must say, your ability to write backwards is truly impressive :-)
Are you kidding about the writing, right? You make laugh a lot! You make my day
I love the way and depth with which You explains. You really are a doctor, not only in the academic and professional sense but more importantly in the philosophical sense; Doctor etymology from Latin doctoris 'teacher, the one who teaches', derived from docere 'to teach'; The scientifically objective parameter of what is correct is health. Thank you for teaching us so much, I aspire to do it too.

Way to go.... keep it up!
Last week I did a 36 hour fast for the first time. I actually found it to be much easier than I expected. It was interesting that at the end of the fast my blood glucose was slightly higher than at the 24 hour mark (105 vs 95.) People around me can't believe I could go that long. They said they'd "end up being taken to the hospital in an ambulance." They're probably correct - your body has to be trained for it.
That's very natural, you first tap your glucose reserves, those last for one day or more, than there is a proteolysis phases, in which your body looks for older cells and "eats" them, converting them to glucose, the real ketosis only starts around the 3rd or 4th day, and that's when you have a lower glucose in your blood. The real benefits or fasting appear during the second week, the deep detoxification, and the deep cleaning of damaged cells.
I’m 76 have 36 hr fast at least weekly - then 6 hour eating window rest of the time 😀
My stepson fasted for 17 days, pretty sure he didn’t prepare, said after day 2 it was quite a bit easier
I do IF 18:6 my intention is to reverse my T2D and lower down IR.
Thank you for sharing another fantastic video. God blessed 🙏
Over months you can gently go to 24 and 48 and 72 hour fasts like once every month in addition to intermittent fasting. The last can break stubborn insulin resistance and reduce visceral fat as long as no vigorous exercises are done during the fast. It does require blood glucose monitoring done often and proper medical and dietary advice before you undertake these. If you're fat adapted, prolonged fasting is pretty easy.
@@Shiv1971 I reverse my insulin level to 3.4ulu/mL. Since I'm under weight I adopt a low carb diet along with IF 18:6 daily walk 6 to 7km.

Great video Dr. Ekberg. I'm so happy you address the "getting physically ill" issue. @@evolveyourself9518 done properly, it should not raise your cortisol. I teach Zumba gold, and Zumba gold toning. My background is in dance and power lifting. If any aerobic activity like dancing is taught improperly, it can be more damaging. Unfortunately many people don't know the difference.

I love all the information but I was hoping for a list of meals that you would recommend to eat before a prolonged fast.
I appreciate your videos and how detailed you are. Your sense of humor is the "icing on the cake." :)
Yes i notice the joke😂 he has a unique sense of humor 😅
HAAAA…. I am literally watching this video as I am completing a seven day fast today😂😂😂. I will remember this on the next one. I absolutely love your content!
Keep up the awesome content
Thank you @snoopanoop7705. Will Do. 😄
Great reinforcement of key central concepts!
Thanks Doctor, have a lovely weekend.
Thank you @siuterufumi1234. Same to you.😄
Dear Dr Sten, Thank you for your videos. I have learned more about food in one week from your videos than I have known my whole life. God Bless you!
This is great stuff! Go Doc! Go!
My first 3day fast wasn't easy. My second 3day almost failed. A year later a 5 day fast was 'easy' and i am doing a 4day now. My plan: Always starting Tuesday evening a fast, first week 5days, second week 4days, third week 3days, and so on... feels easy as the first 5 days totally reseted my feeling for hunger and after eating the feel of no hunger. (i always was eating until i was full cause i did not have a feeling of "that's enough food" anymore for years, the fasting for 5 days was a reset for this) Thank you doc for all those life changing tips and knowledge not presented in school in any way!!
The subtle humour in these video’s is the icing on the cake. 😂👍🏼
Thanks Dr Sten. I'm still clipping away at my healthy eating since February. Feeling better and looking better. Sadly I'm quite annoying to my family and friends😢
Hey I watch your channel! Nice to see you here. Usually signed in from my other channel though. Keep going! I’ve lost 16lbs since May 1st and do OMAD with a 1 to 2 hr eating window. I feel lots better. My entire family ignore all of it and pretty much think it is unhealthy and disagree with intermittent fasting and say it will make me sick but they eat very poorly and can’t be convinced otherwise and continue to count calories and eat processed foods off and on so I just do my own thing and am happy about it. If I slip up and eat what they are then I feel sick and get back to it. Good luck to you, Char😊👍
Thanks Doc. Great as usual. Am routine keto and IF and started euLyte last week. Great safety net for assuring electrolytes. TY.
thank you for all your videos dr.Ekberg. I use to have canker sores that doest heal for weeks and because I watch your videos on fasting (1 meal a day) I dont get sores anymore.elbow pain gone.
Good stuff Doc.
great video. thank you.
Dr Sten is the Holy Grail of health.
I'm loving the eulyte! I've used it throughout the day and more importantly before, during and after playing tennis, and I can testify that I've had better outcome from previous electrolytes ... i.e. minimal to no cramping after 2.5 hour singles match at 100% humidity
i trust and follow you doc Sten. you're credible because your advice is well researched and sensible. i now buzzcut my noggin to pay my respects to your site.
You are the best teacher! I love you! Thank you very much
When i subscribed to Dr. Ekberg, followed carefully his lectures here in this YT channel, I lost 10kg in 6 weeks like a magic. Thank you Dr. Ekberg, you are a real health champion 🏆
Thank you Doctor. Can you please highlight the precautions that people diagnosed with Peptic Ulcers should take if they want to fast? Thank you
You are so good
You explain complex things in such a simple way to understand
Thank you
Great info. Thanks!
I've been waiting for a video like this...
Thank you @esiks2166. Glad to hear that. 😄
love your videos, thanks!!!
Thank you Dr Ekberg 🙏🏽🙏🏽❤️
First of all, I wanna thank you Dr. Ekberg for your educational and very informative videos. It has been proven to me time and again that the best way to achieve something, or to deal with any issue is by learning more about it.
Forgive me please for this very long comment, but I believe it's very important. So I really appreciate your patience.
I have quite a journey with weight loss, and I had some really huge successes in the past, even though I'm not really sure it's a success if I gained the weight back! So I hope this time, it will be a real one.
After watching your videos, and learning more about keto, and being already aware of the great benefits of IF, since it was the reason for my last huge success, I started again to do intermittent fasting, but also now I'm lowering my daily carbs intake as much as possible, I only have 2 meals a day, I don't snack, and if I wanna eat fruits, I eat the ones which are lowest in carbs and only a few, also it would be part of my meal, either the first or second. I also started to fast for more hours, mostly 22 hours and sometimes 23 hours a day. Also, after watching your video about walking and running, and which is better depending on the state of fitness (I really encourage everyone who's reading my comment to watch that video), I started to exercise the way you described it should be for an overweight person "actually obese according to my BMI".
The results are amazing!!! Today marks a month since I started, I lost 22 pounds, from 235 pounds to 213. What makes things even better is that it was really easy and enjoyable! I don't feel tired at all, I don't crave food that is harmful. I stopped snacking, even though I don't need to go the store to get snacks, since they're already available in the kitchen closet. And I saved the best ones to last, I don't hate my life while exercising because You changed the wrong concept I had about exercise, and also, I feel full and really enjoy my meals! with having amazing results, it couldn't get better!
I weigh myself 5-6 times a week, and I do that after I exercise, before I've eaten anything. I believe it's a great motivation, because 1st, I can track my progress, and 2nd, I feel I'm rewarded every time I step on the scale, and I find that I lost weight since the day before!
Now to my question, which is a concern. in the last week, the weight loss has been much slower than before, and it happened twice, that I find I gained weight, not more than 1 pound. I understand that if I weigh more, my basal metabolic rate will be higher. What I'm concerned about is that maybe the very fast weight loss that my body has been through, activated a response, that "We're losing weight, we must resist".
Keeping in mind that I don't expect myself to lose 22 pounds every month, and even losing half a pound is a victory for me and I feel that I'm on the right track!
So, is it possible that my body is trying to counteract the fast weight loss? and in that case, what do You suggest I should do?
Again, thank you so much for everything, I'm so glad that UA-cam algorithm suggested a video of yours.
THANK YOU, Dr. Sten🙏🙋♀️🎶💖
Makes sense. Thank you!
Thanks so much Dr Ekberg. Can you please make a video explaining how long and often people in different age groups should do fasting to lose fat? 🙏
very good work
Thanks a lot. Will be a great relief
Thank you Doctor. You are a great source of wellness for many people.
Re "Idiopathic (Whatchmacallit) Syndrome" "And then they add 'Syndrome' to make it sound interesting." LOVE your sense of humour! 🥴
I am fasting till Friday. Good information 👍🏽
Thank you @MiekaFastingWeightLoss. Good luck. 😄
Thank you Dr. I have been watching your videos for a very long time now. At least 3 years, and you always deliver some very informative pieces that struck even me. And I've been skimming the literature for a very long time. I'm currently a carnivore dieter of 4 years xD Also I was wondering if your electrolyte product has any sweetener to it? I'm looking for non sweetened electrolytes
Hi Dr. Ekberg!!! I credit discovering your channel to the complete turnaround of my mindset when it comes to the concept of “true health” and ultimately helping me feel the best Ive ever felt. I’m wanting to try your electrolytes but was wondering if this product will break a fast? Is it possible to take electrolytes without breaking the autophagy state within a prolonged fast? I experience mild headaches during my 2 or 3 day fasts so I always take sea salt periodically but hesitate to take electrolytes because I don’t want to be kicked out of autophagy and lose all that hard work. Thank you!!!🙏
Thank you!
I watched a few of your videos and am impressed. I especially liked the discussion of autophagy. I would love to see a video about the use of methylene blue as it pertains to metabolism, autophagy and keto dieting.
My 2nd time this year doing a prolonged fast (above 32+ hours).
1st time this year I started by eating steak with butter before my fast. I lost weight and the fasting was great after 48 hours hit. ✅
And
2nd time I started by having beer and popcorn. I can tell this time around on hour 48, I am not feeling the happiest. ❌ Lol 😫
You were funny in this. Loved this content with the humor 👍
I started intermittent fasting 2 months ago and i lost 20kg. I went from 94kg to 74kg with an height of 180cm. I ate 1-2 meals a day. Mainly fat, protein, no sugar and no carbs. I also walked 30-60min a day every day for one month.
How many calories did you consume throughout the 2 months?
@@itacool6457 didn't count calories, but i guess it was maybe around 1000-1500 calories a day. I moved alot too, like walking and sometimes i did some weightlifting at home. But i did many 48h fasts and once i did a 66h water fast. I ate 1 or 2 meals in a 2-4h time window and then fasted for over 20h every day.
I lost 20kg in 3 months (94kg to 74kg) with no long fasting and no exercise, by eating the following: Bulgarian yogurt with walnuts for breakfast, chicken shish and salad for lunch, and some veggies or some nuts (like sunflower seeds etc.) for dinner.
Dr. Ekberg can you please make next video about "What you MUST eat before DONATING BLOOD"... well also what we must eat after donating blood for the best recovery.
Don't do it. Blood is holy.
Draw near to Jehovah and do his righteousness ❤
I did 36/12 for a few years and it was really good. From 85 kg to 77kg, but the even nicer effect was, that you don't need to think for 1 whole day about food preparation and stuff. And on the day you eat, you can eat anything (at least in my case it worked).
But in the end it was socially to exhausting, to switch around the days when you meet friends. 16/8 is easier to manage, but not as effective as 36/12.
Thanks Dr Sten Ekberg
amazing ! Thank you !
Thank you for the info very helpful. I am about six months into my low carb journey.
I'm on day 3 of a fast today and i concluded yesterday i need to do a few days of keto before i start fasting, and maybe go for a run a few days prior to clear out stored glucose.
I tend to struggle right about day 2-3 as my body transitions and i want that transition to be quicker.
In 2019, I went through a medically supervised 10-day water fast. After day 2, I had rather severe back pain, which made it hard to sit or sleep. No one seemed able to explain it, although the nurses and doctors said it was reasonably common. Looking back on this experience, I think the discomfort was likely a result of no electrolyte replacement! I was drinking water only - no one suggested or offered salt or any other minerals. Eventually, they gave me some mostly-flavorless vegetable broth, and the issue resolved within a couple more days. What do you think, Dr. Ekberg?
Very interesting….. I think it was electrolytes. Your kidneys were in stress mode. I have done a 5 day without electrolytes as well. I felt terrible. At the end. Same issue as you I believe. I’m on a 36 hour right now. Plan to go 17 hours more. Feeling good.
Very interesting video
After doing a water fast with nothing else like vitamin pills or whatever, i felt moderately hungry between hours 40-48, but then after that it went away. I have a bit if a physical job and been able to perform alright. Never got dizzy or exhausted. Planning to stop around hour 60 in the morning tomorrow.
Thank you for your videos, Dr. Sten. Do you have any guidance for people on medication who are diabetic and hypertensive? Are these people able to fast? If so, should they continue taking medications during the fasting period? How should medications be managed during the fast?
Ah man its like you are in my brain. Was just thinking about I need to change up what I eat before a fast. I have done OMEOD for the past week and I want to push it further now. So this should help
@drekberg you are my go-to guru. I love how you greet us as health champions! I have a question: I recently purchased euLyte, and I’m concerned about the stevia content. I’ve read/learned that stevia is damaging to the gut microbiome, perhaps as much as sugar, even just one serving. Can you allay my fears regarding the stevia content in euLyte? Thank you!
