This whole series was dope and super inspiring! I dig the attention to detail on things no one will ever see. You asked " why am I like this?" And I laughed harder than I'd like to admit but some of us are like this because we appreciate the little details. Your dislike for all the rust work may be strong but your appreciation for doing the small things right and not half-assing them is stronger. And thank God for friends down to help us do sketchy things!
Thank you so much for your kind words and support! I learned so much during this project and hope to do more like it in the future to learn even more! Thanks again! 😃
My 11 year old daughter saw this. She's in love. I've had a truck with this body style since I was 16yo and now I'm 54. My daughter wants my 64 for her 16th birthday but since the old trucks are pretty unsafe by today's standards, giving her mine just wasnt going to happen. Your videos have inspired me to complete one of these to give to her for her 16th bd. Would really like to be able to communicate with you about this at some point. Beautiful truck man.... Truly
LOVE IT!!! Watched the play list over the last two days and think you did a great job. I own an 07 Tahoe so i guess thats why your channel was suggested, but I'm glad it was. I enjoyed everything about this series and plan to watch your other builds. Great work and Congrats! J
I really think the truck came out really good. I love the way you used the Gerry Can. I’m working on a 1955 Chevy 3100. I was going to do the oil on the truck but now that I seen you washing yours I think I might be doing what you did so it can be easier to wash!!
Thank you for the kind words! That is an awesome year! I love the 55s! The product is used is nice because its not oily and will protect the truck for many years and many washes to come! I definitely recommend it!
Can you do a burnout video or showing what kind of power you got!? Also every 2nd Saturday of the month Rock & Brews in Oviedo, FL has a car show… any chance you could come show it off!? You did so much work on it (great job) I’d love to see it in person!✌🏻❤️🇺🇸
Yeah i could definitely bring it down there sometime!! I need to get the transmission tuned before burn outs and stuff, kinda scared this ole 4l60 will explode 😆
I'm way late to your project but I have really enjoyed catching up. Great job both on the work you put in, but especially on your documentation. I'll be starting a 1963 GMC longbed and plan to drop on a early 2000's Denali and watching everything you've done here is extremely valuable. Thank you so much and great job.
Great series! Enjoyed every bit of it (here, restoring a 65 very rusty stepside, sbc and 350 trans, with close to zero experience working on cars) your videos were quite informative and encouraging thank you!! Also humor’s on point 🤙🏻
I love the color. I prefer the old barn mirrors. I saw that some of the areas where the rust had eaten through like the hood, and bottom of the door. You didn’t seal or weld. Why so? Will that affect it? Could you make a video showing the interior and dash a bit more? If money or time wasn’t the issue would you have kept the original frame or still swapped it? Just insane build the patina look is great. It’s exactly what I want. It’s incredible! I’d also appreciate an update video explaining some issues or concerns adjustments or fixes that you’ve made since finishing the restoration.
I think i may switch back to the other mirrors! I didnt repair the hood because it would have not matched the patina if i did so, it doesnt really affect anything at the moment, i am keeping my eye out for goods in better condition that would match the patina as well. As far as the bottom of the door, it was beyond my abilities to repair, a new door wouldn’t match the truck. Theres no electrical components in the door and the truck is stored in the garage and not driven when raining so i dont see an immediate issue there. I have a bunch more videos showing the interior process a bit more. If money wasnt an issue, i would like to do a complete restoration of another truck and keep it all original. But for this being my first project, it was easier and cheaper doing it this way and i like how it looks old but drives like a new truck. I have another video coming up fixing some issues i ran in to! Thanks so much for your comment and support!!
Great truck! Only way it could be better is if it were a Ford. Just kidding! I have a 55 F100 on a 78 4WD chassis. 351/400. It was a mid 80s resto mod, originally built for a daily driver. Still drive it daily. We've been together for 34 years now. From experience, there's always something to fix, upgrade or make better. Your adventure has only just begun. Have fun! Be safe!
Yes! Thats what i want! But when i was looking into the hub caps alone i think they were over $300, ill have to save up and get some nicer wheels in the future for sure. Thank you for your view and comment!
Love how the build turned out! Nice work on the bed and gas can. 🤘🏼 Go with Vintage air! I did on mine and it was very easy to install. It got super cold too and heater was great too! I would say it’s a weekend project. It’s more expensive for sure but you won’t regret it. Same with the steering column. I did the cheap one too but wished I did the Ididit instead. I think im going to try a square body Chevy on a Tahoe frame. I think that’s the next project for me.
There is two different Jerry cans one for water one for gasoline the water one has a bigger opening and gas cap fits neatly inside find the one with hinged handle on cap easy open close never loose cap
Looks great, i have my grandfathers 1970 ford ranger. My dad gave to me. I love the patina on the color on mine. What process did you use for body? Paint and what did you treat surface rust with ?
Awesome!! That sounds like a cool truck! I posted this info on the other comment on the other video as well, but will add here as well incase anyone has a similar question I used this product to treat any surface rust on the underside of any panels. It is basically black spray paint. So dont use it on any part that you want to keep patina amzn.to/3LffZaJ For surface rust on the patina, i scrubbed with these pads. amzn.to/3REu7gW Then for areas that were worse, i used 300 grit sandpaper. After the surface is prepped and cleaned, i sprayed it with 2-3 coats of poppys patina “glossed out”. poppyspatina.com/collections/glossed-out/products/glossed-out-spray-on-clear-coat Thank you for the view and comment!
I go over more detail with the patina paint in this video. VICE GRIP GARAGE CLEAR COAT AND CAB MOUNTED!- EP. 14- 1966 C10 TO 2001 TAHOE FRAME SWAP PROJECT ua-cam.com/video/ens5UeNHFoI/v-deo.html
Did the kit not come with provisions to mount the bed or is that only so you could mount the wood floor? Glad you’re finally done with the project and happy that you’re able to enjoy it, but still sad that you’re done. Lol Also, I don’t know in what conditions you plan on driving the truck, but it might be a good idea to treat the bottom side or put some kind of coating for water splashes or debris just so the wood won’t rot from underneath . 🤙🏽
The kit did come with provisions to mount the bed, but unfortunately all the steel cross members on my bed were rusted out beyond repair, i could have replaced with steel cross members, but since i knew i was doing a wood bed anyway, i figured the wood cross members would work just as well and be easier! Thank you for the kind words! More episodes will be coming sooner than later i think! Starting on the ac components this weekend!
Congratulations on your project. Looks good. The patina look is not my preference but you have saved a nice old truck from the crusher. Question for you. Did you ever repair those rust holes at the bottom of the door?
Thank you for your comment and support! I did not fix the holes in the bottom of the door as I do not have the skills to, in my opinion the doors would have to be replaced and that would ruin the patina look. Also they are $700 apiece!. I did get all the rust off, treated with rust treatment and painted. truck is stored indoors and is not driven in the rain so I don’t see it as an immediate issue, but I may address it in the future if I gained the skills to do so 😃
@@FLManGarageSounds like a plan. I’ve built several projects like this and they usually take several phases before they done. Perhaps you can buy a partial door skin and just weld in the bottom section.
Its stained, and sealed in epoxy, but also wont be driven in the rain 👍🏻. We will see how long it lasts and when it does rot, will swap it out with something else
I just finished my wife’s 66 and it to took me 8 months love the videos. I wanted to do a UA-cam channel but it wouldn’t be much content because I would need to bleep out all the cursing 🤬
Awesome build! Retro air makes good kits and if you still have the tahoe compressor you might get away with using that. Im going to have to DM you on instagram about a few shows coming up i live on the east coast but over in clearwater theres a show on july 4th im taking mine on if i get my engine issues figured out by then and hoping i get my ac going by then to!
Fell in love with this channel today!!
Thank you so much for your support!
My favorite part of your build was the bed and gas can idea as well. God speed!
Thank you so much for your support!!

Turned out great, love the jerry can awesome idea, happy Wife happy life 😂 can’t wait for the next project whatever it is, thanks for the videos.
Thanks man! Appreciate it! There will definitely be more to come on this one, and who knows what in the future!

Add a two-post lift to your garage make-over.
That would be a dream! Wish i could afford it, also the ceilings are only 9ft

Nice truck came out super cool.. I would get wheels with baby moon hub caps! I love them on my 58 truck

I don't have the chops to do something like this..
But maaaannnnn!!!!
Wow!!!!!!
Thank you so much for your comment and support! It was quite the undertaking!
I think you did a great job on this truck!
Thank you so much! 😃
Great content. I thoroughly enjoyed this series and you’re really talented. Love the build 👏🏻
Thank you for the kind words and support!!
Tack you! I'm looking forward to the AC install
Definitely! Needs to happen sooner rather than later ! 🥵
Nice job thank you for share all u ideas

Thanks!! Vintage air seems so nice but man, close to 2k is so much! Im sure its worth it though like you are saying
nice work. Lets see under the hood !!A slow walk around followed by a burnout A low bobber would be a cool build.
Kinda scared that this ole 4l60 will implode😂. Was definitely considering a bobber build as well!
Would be very interested in shop set up, organizing videos.
I can add some of that into my next videos!
Thank you for your comment and support! 😃
You need the old fashion underdash unit.
Yes definitely looking for something like that!
I've been wanting to try a 12v a/c kit
Ill let you know it goes!!
Love to see it man 👏👏👏
Yessir!!!

Thanks for that info! I did not know that
@@FLManGarage I did this exact thing with my 91 square body crew cab. Relocated the tank to the rear with 2x capacity.
Awesome! That is a cool year truck! 😃

Yes! This is definitely phase one! I will keep an eye out for door skins, that is a good idea! Thanks! 😃
Definitely needs different tires and wheels
I agree 100% I needed wheels quickly and found these on Facebook for only $200 with tires so in the future I would like to get something much nicer!
Awesome series. Great attention to minor details. Only have 1 question. When you tag/title it, is it titled off the 1966 vin or the Tahoe vin?
Thanks so much! It is titled as a 66 c10 since the vin numbers are on the body and not the frame 👍🏻
😎🤙🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you for your view and comment! 😃
Needs to be louder some good glass packs
It is much louder in person than it is in the video!
Question: what truck do you use to register it from?
I registered it as a 66 c10 since the vin is on the cab
Where did you get the frame swap kit?
Ez chassis swap
Unless you are never gonna drive that truck in the rain, you may want to do that wood bed in hardwoon. That pine is gonna rot in a year.
Its stained, and sealed in epoxy, but also wont be driven in the rain 👍🏻. We will see how long it lasts and when it does rot, will swap it out with something else
"...let the dog out?!"
😄 what part are you referring to?
I need help finishing my 65 stepside
Is there anyone local to you to help out?

I agree! But wheels and tires are expensive, will have to save up
