Even if I was working on a car that I was going to sell and I could get more money by leaving the surface rust and patina… I can’t do it! It bothers me a little bit that I am like this and I think it’s a quirky OC thing, or an old man thing, but I have given up on it and have realized that when I work on a car it is going to get beautiful new paint. Excellent work. You got me ready to restart my 78 GMC truck again. I ran out of funds for the repairs. Im at the paint, interiors, doors, pickup bed wood replacement. Its a 3/4 ton flat bed. I had found my truck buried in sand. My wife purchased it as a surprise from a family member. The running gear is done.
That is an awesome story. It adds up really fast. I thought I was gonna be into this project about $10,000 but ended up being almost double that lol Thank you for the comment and support !
Holy smokes man, this is outstanding. I had some doubt when I saw that 400K Tahoe, but this is really amazing. Thanks for creating this -- the truck and video! -- the effort to take/edit this video while also doing the truck must have been huge, and both are seriously high quality.
Thank you so much! This was my first big undertaking, mechanically speaking as well as video/editing so I am blessed to see how many people are enjoying it!
I was totally wrong about this restoration. He didn’t take all the dents out and restore it to brand new but I think what he did instead was outstanding. It runs great but looks like he wanted it to look.i applaud his work and his dedication. Nice job. I look forward to more of your videos.
Your work. Your dedication. The time spent. All the hours and unwavering dedication and firtetude. Man I totally respect what you have done man. Totally. Great job dude.
Great job! A testament to anyone that if you want something bad enough you will figure out how to do it!! All this done outside with no high dollar tools.
Man, great pacing on the edit. Not a single wasted minute. I normally fast forward through slow parts on other channels and that just wasn’t needed here. Well done 👊
This was probably one of the coolest builds on UA-cam, as a content creator myself I can only imagine the hours building and editing this video for us! Thanks so much
Thank you so much for your comment! Yes! It took so long to complete the editing on this one for sure. At least a few weeks, and its definitely not perfect! Thanks for your support!!
Thank you... That is how I like to watch my videos, all action less talk. I also like the concept that you clean as you go with your work. Awesome work! New subscriber.
I watched and enjoyed every minute of this! Outstanding video editing showing every step of the way with no dialogue necessary. Can’t wait for the next build!
Awesome job! I am also a fan of the no talking, and pace of the video. Some talking is fine, sometimes its easier and adds to it, but getting all of this into one video and not fluffing it with chatter is nice. I made a no talking walkaround video of my '58 mercury voyager wagon on my channel and thought it might be boring, and it probably is to some people, but I made it mostly for myself and I enjoy watching it and hearing the bugs in the background haha. Then stumbled across this and feel inspired to speed up my next walkaround or tinkering video. Good work!
Thank you so much for your feedback! I’m glad you enjoyed the video! This was my first video like this, and I definitely have some improvement to do on the editing and videography portion !
What a cool ride. Up here in Wyoming, we'd left the 4x4. Where you're at 2wd is perfectly fine. I didn't even know they made a kit to mount that up, that makes things nice.
Add a few “shorts“ to your selection and maybe do some videos that are around 45 minutes, and pretty soon you’ll have 200,000 subscribers. But no music and no talking is fantastic, though you can increase your close captioning for what you’re doing.
Thanks! Definitely want better wheels, just expensive. For the filler neck it was just a fun idea/project. I needed a fill neck in the rear for the tahoe tank and didnt want to cut a hole in the side of the bed Thanks for your view and comment!
Love your build , looks like a fun driver. I did a similar one a couple years ago- a Tahoe under a 49 3100 , I left the floor and firewall, body mounts on the Tahoe as the 49 floor was rotted out. The wheel base was 3/4” longer than the 3100, not hardly noticeable, had to raise the bed floor up 2” to clear the fuel tank and shock mounts, brought the fuel filler out between the rear bed stake and the fender. Your details on your project is awesome- your truck your way👍!
I like the concept of no talking. I watched it 2x speed and had to back it up to read the text. I did a 58 Chevy Apache 30 years ago with my Dad and it was a ton of work. I was second guessing your wood bed but love the epoxy and fill can. Hope it holds up. Find you some visors. The seat could be easily redone at an upholster shop if it bugs you. Great work. 6 months was fast!
Thank you so much! I would love to do a 50s chevy next! Visors are definitely on the list, upholstery shops around here are so booked out and expensive, it seems to be cheaper to buy a brand new seat eventually! Thanks again for your view and comment!
This is a great project!! I just found your channel, and I subbed!! This swap is most interesting! A great way to upgrade and save an old Chevy classic! I'm a 76 yr old V/N combat vet. After surviving in airborne infantry (101), ad a paratrooper. I bought a '58 Plymouth Fury with a blown 318. I bought a '58 Imperial with a 392 hemi. I swapped it into the Fury, ( after a refresh, big cam, etc, man did I have fun with it!!! I had a old classmate who was a hemisphere guru drag racer, he and I built the hemi. He knew lots of hot tricks to make her run! But he also showed me all the necessary suspension and brake mods needed. I loved that hot rod. Shocked the shit out of lots of cords and chevys. I've owned all of the tri five chevs over the years, the were plenty ful and cheap during my youth. They'll always be my favorite cars.I watched D&D build your '56!! Its a great ride!! I'm watching you build a ,'66 chef pickup now. Great video!! Like your channel!!!
First and foremost, thank you so much for your service! Sounds like you have had some awesome rides over the years! I hope to have many more fun and old projects in the future Thank you so much for your view and comment! God bless!
What an absolutely fascinating in depth rebuild of an old truck from start to finish. I wonder how many people start projects like this, and find they're out of their depth. I know I would be.
I really enjoyed watching this and hope that you and your family will be able to enjoy that truck for many years. I wish I had the knowledge and skills. You are blessed. Thank you for sharing the journey.
I Love it! I love it! No talking, love it! Too many UA-camRS post content that is over verbalized, Just tell us what your doing and get after it. Thanks for posting your project, great content.
Florida man Garage you are an Amazing Mechanic, you did a llell of job on that truck, Very Professional 💯 thanks for Sharing your Awesome Video, job well done 👍👍👍.
I removed all the surface rust, and then, yes sprayed over whatever rust/paint was left. This product is designed to bond to bare metal, rust, or paint
I admire your craftsmanship and your motivation to take on such a project. I am sure the edit work on the video was no small task. Well Done! Enjoy your ride.
You did an amazing job. I really like the no music and no talking. It felt like I was there with you. I have a 64 C10 and I'm doing the exact same thing. Watching this really helped.
Dude, I I gotta admit man that was a beautiful beautiful video. I have a 64 Chevy C 10 that I’m doing the same kind of stuff too except for a few little differences. Man, that was awesome dude I’ll be watching you day one today every day after this, just check you out that was crazy.
Thank you! These wheels are definitely temporary! Unfortunately, cant go much lower because the tahoe subframe hangs so low and air ride is too expensive 😄 Thanks again for your comment and support!
overall, well done build. really enjoyed the video and your craftsmanship. only things that had me scratching my head were the high gloss clear, interior color palette/chrome deletes, and mirrors. bonus points on painting the engine block. nice old school touch.
Thank you so much! These are mostly personal preference things, i will be replacing the mirrors soon though. What do you mean by chrome deletes? Thank you so much for your view and comment!!
@@FLManGarage of course, and as you should. with a build like this you would be insane to not do it how YOU want to do it. I"m just some guy on the internet. chrome deletes - was surprised at the window vent trim and instrument cluster bezels turning black. there's a lot of color going on in the interior. white, chrome, black, brown/beige and the original creme on the door panel. imo, three colors is top, four if there's an accent color that flows. again, bad ass job on this build.
The vent windows and cluster were in pretty rough shape and it was just easier/cheaper to black them out then re chrome. I agree on the many interior colors, i have actually since wrapped the door panels in the same color as the seat. I may change the chrome on the glove box door since it has blinded me more than once 😄 Thanks again!
The hours of R&D you invest have elevated my timberborne game. magic tiles, dwelling efficiencies, constuction supplies, shortest path designs, Just to name a few strategies.... More casual conversations with Picture please.
My comment was for a video game channel... I watched just before your video. I now realize how strange that comment is considering your lovely content format. Strong work BTW@@FLManGarage
Very nice job! I'm a hot rod builder and this is amazing. Everyone does it there way. You added that military box in the back... I got a name for the truck.. Rambo.
Wow so bizarre, as a kid my dad had this exact truck. We put a lot of miles on that truck. I remember driving down a rutted road with a full bed of oak firewood that truck was tough. Nice show dude
A big thumbs up to you for doing such a great undertaking. The naysayers can say what they want, I think this is some really good work and something to be proud of. I have a 57 3100 myself, and would love more than anything to do with it what you have done to this one.
Thank you so much! This was the biggest project ive ever done, so i am very proud of the outcome and how much i have learned along the way! That 57 would be such an awesome build!
Great job! One additional step to complete asap - spray interior of doors, hood, jambs, and body panels with Woolwax or Fluid Film. This will prevent further corrosion on surfaces that were previously rusted
Thanks! I will look into that, every panel was derusted, treated with rust converter, painted and then coated with under coating, but im sure that stuff wont hurt either 😃
I've had three of these old Chevy trucks. The first was dads old truck he had given to me for graduating high school. Dad had named the truck Sarge. It was a 68 Chevy long bed with around 400H.P. We built around 200ish small block Chevys throughout the years. It had a 4 speed Muncie rock crusher in the floor and those H.P. came from a DZ 302 Chevrolet. The 2nd was a 64 short bed step side with 275/60/15s, with a Eaton 3:90 posi and a super hard shifting 350 turbo automatic. The truck came factory with in dash air conditioning,(push/pull levers) factory 283 with a two speed powerglide. It had the big back window was baby blue with a white top and a chrome grill. Came with chrome front and rear bumpers, all original from the factory. My third old Chevy truck was a '66 short bed fleet side, with a stock 350 and stock 350 automatic but ran perfectly. I think you've done a heck of a job, I would trust that truck to California from Tennessee no problem, especially if you had it geared properly.
Yes! It has the tahoe gears so its great on the highway! That sounds like an awesome spec truck you had! Im jealous of the a/c, that will be my next project for this truck!
Congratulations! That was quite an impressive build. Way to focus and getting it done with your friends, family and mad skills. I thoroughly enjoyed your video. Your truck is amazing!
Thank you so much! It was quite and undertaking for me and i learned so much along the way, it was a fun project that i am happy others are enjoying to watch 😃
I've done plenty of motors, and done my motors too,it seems a little odd that he wouldn't do the head gaskets and pistons, and rings, especially with that many miles on it. As far as as somebody else on here said, that is a lot of work for one man. When me and my brother, did his old ranchero,66 by the way. We cut up a old Montego, it was somewhere in the seventies, don't remember exact date, we wanted the motor, because the motor in the car was a 351 Cleveland, With low MI we cut that car completely to the ground. And move the motor over to the ranchero, which turned out to be pretty bad a$$, but all the work that was involved was crazy, and I'll never do it again but kudos to this gentleman.very good job for doing it on your own. "congratulations" now that was a awesome job.
The main reason I didn’t do more to this motor is that i plan on building a 6.0 with a 4l80e from the ground up, so i didnt want to spend the time and money to rebuild this one. It ran good in the Tahoe and runs good now, good oil pressure and doesn’t smoke, so i am curious to see how much longer it will last! Thank you for your comment and support!
This was one of the best videos I have ever watched- and I have watched a lot. Great work and unless you have been there (I have) you cannot appreciate the amount of time and dedication it takes to see a build thru. Thank you so much for your kind words and support!! This was a huge undertaking for me and i am proud to have “finished “ it. (Always more to do!) It seems to only be windy out when i need to paint something 😄

I hope he paints it up real nice and shines but I fear he’s going to leave it sort of junky looking with a mix of blue and rust.

Just the fact that you're taking everything apart and putting it back together is already an improvement on what has been done from the factory
It definitely has its flaws! But its still running strong after 400k miles which is quite astonishing!

I had found my truck buried in sand. My wife purchased it as a surprise from a family member.
The running gear is done.
That is an awesome story. It adds up really fast. I thought I was gonna be into this project about $10,000 but ended up being almost double that lol
Thank you for the comment and support !
Derek from Vice Grip Garage channel would absolutely love this build.
I hope he would! I love watching his stuff!
Great job, great video. I watched start to finish. I liked how you had no voice or music, just process.
Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed this format!😃
I was totally wrong about this restoration. He didn’t take all the dents out and restore it to brand new but I think what he did instead was outstanding. It runs great but looks like he wanted it to look.i applaud his work and his dedication. Nice job. I look forward to more of your videos.
Thank you so much! 😃
Your work. Your dedication. The time spent. All the hours and unwavering dedication and firtetude. Man I totally respect what you have done man. Totally. Great job dude.
I appreciate your kind words and support!
Superb job very dedicated boy well done young man 😊🇬🇧 👏👏👏👍
Thank you so much for your support!
Great job! A testament to anyone that if you want something bad enough you will figure out how to do it!! All this done outside with no high dollar tools.
Thank you so much! Yes! I am proud to have finished this project with no major equipment/tools!
Thank you for your comment!
Very Good Job Bringing Them Old Ones Back To Life. 😊👍
Thank you so much! I appreciate your view and comment!
Man, great pacing on the edit. Not a single wasted minute. I normally fast forward through slow parts on other channels and that just wasn’t needed here. Well done 👊
Thanks! I appreciate you noticing! I try to keep it to the point and make sure each minute counts! I have more content coming up soon!
Brother you hit that out of the park beautiful truck
Thank you so much! 😃
That is an absolute work of art.
Thank you so much!! 😃
Outstanding job! Jack of all trades. Well done.
Thank you so much!!
Excellent build .... the patina on that truck is amazing.
Thank you! I was surprised how much blue was actually left under all the surface rust and grime!
Man I decided watching a movie then spend my time watching this masterpiece transformation. You are awesome....
Thank you so much for your comment and support!!
Just need the Sanford and Son door decals ! Sweet old school look.
Nicely done. Love the work and need to dive into more of the videos on this build. Great Job!
Thank you so much for your support!!
Excellent build, lots of hard work payed off.
Thank you so much for your support!!
That's a huge undertaking and a gutsy effort. You must have good neighbours.
Thank you! I learned a lot through the process! Yes, definitely good neighbors 😃
Thank you... That is how I like to watch my videos, all action less talk. I also like the concept that you clean as you go with your work. Awesome work! New subscriber.
Thank you so much for your support! 😃
I like the way it came out. Very cool truck. Now it it will have much more horse power to get down the road!
Thank you! Yes, this should be much more fun to drive now!
Looks beautiful awesome build ! Great looking truck 🛻🛻🛻👍
Thank you so much! 😃
No words! You are just a dedicated person, your work is better than must shops I know , excellent, it is a piece of art
Thank you so much! that is quite the compliment! I appreciate your support!
Amazing job! Crazy attention to detail
Thank you so much!
I watched and enjoyed every minute of this! Outstanding video editing showing every step of the way with no dialogue necessary. Can’t wait for the next build!
Thank you so much for your support! Im glad you enjoyed watching!

😃
What a cool ride. Up here in Wyoming, we'd left the 4x4. Where you're at 2wd is perfectly fine. I didn't even know they made a kit to mount that up, that makes things nice.
Yeah we really dont need 4wd down here unless off roading!
The kit makes it so easy!
Thank you for your view and comment! 😃
Stellar job. Meticulously executed.
Thank you! I appreciate the kind words and support! 😃
You are doing a great job with your seats that will never be recognized. 😊 looks good.
Thank you so much! 😃
Every time it said "plating parts no one will see" I was saying back to the screen "yes, but you will know and it will bring you peace"
Hundred percent! it gives me peace, knowing that mostly everything on the truck is protected! Thanks for the view and comment! 😃
Preventive maintenance is the life of your vehicle. An ounce of prevention is way more valuable than a pound of cure.
I couldn’t agree more! 😃
@@FLManGarage sorry, just saw this. Thanks for commenting back. Beautiful vehicle.
Thank you for your comment and support! 😃
Fantastic work, we need more people like you in this world. Salutations from St. Johns County freedom Florida!
Thank you so much for your comment and support!😃😃
Add a few “shorts“ to your selection and maybe do some videos that are around 45 minutes, and pretty soon you’ll have 200,000 subscribers. But no music and no talking is fantastic, though you can increase your close captioning for what you’re doing.
I hope so! That is the dream! Thank you for your support!
Very cool, great vid!!!!! 🤜🤛
Thank you for the kind words and support!
@@FLManGarage 👍
🙌🏻
Hey man, impressive job! I don´t understand filling petrol like this and think about better wheels. SINGLE MAN JOB, WOW - BRILLIANT!
Thanks! Definitely want better wheels, just expensive. For the filler neck it was just a fun idea/project. I needed a fill neck in the rear for the tahoe tank and didnt want to cut a hole in the side of the bed
Thanks for your view and comment!
How’s your algorithm working out with your content brother ?
It wasnt doing that great until this video, and it has taken off beyond my expectations and i am so grateful!
Thank you so much for your comment and support!
I would love to do a truck older than the 66 model that sounds like a really cool build that you had!
That was incredible man. Especially doing it solo.
Thank you so much! It was a challenge but i learned so much during the process!
I loved this video, you build one of a kind truck. From start to finish. Very exelent job.👍👍👌👌👌
Thank you so much for your view and support! 😃
I hope to have many more fun and old projects in the future
Thank you so much for your view and comment! God bless!
What an absolutely fascinating in depth rebuild of an old truck from start to finish. I wonder how many people start projects like this, and find they're out of their depth. I know I would be.
Thank you so much! There were plenty of times i thought i was in way over my head, but it was such a great learning experience!
Amazing transformation!! Enjoyed watching you build it from the ground up. Great job
Thank you for your view and comment! 😃
I really enjoyed watching this and hope that you and your family will be able to enjoy that truck for many years. I wish I had the knowledge and skills. You are blessed. Thank you for sharing the journey.
Thank you so much for your kind words and support!!
I Love it! I love it! No talking, love it! Too many UA-camRS post content that is over verbalized, Just tell us what your doing and get after it. Thanks for posting your project, great content.
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed it! More to come like this soon! 😃
Florida man Garage you are an Amazing Mechanic, you did a llell of job on that truck, Very Professional 💯 thanks for Sharing your Awesome Video, job well done 👍👍👍.
Thank you so much for your support!😃
I just watched the whole thing from start to finish. You now have a really cool truck you can drive anywhere and be very comfortable
Thank you so much! yes, it drives so nice now! i just need to get the a/c going! :D
Drive, determination, attention to detail to achieve the goal. Super !
Thank you so much for your kind words! 😃
@@FLManGarage You're welcome..... I was fascinated with the clearcoat sprayed over old paint. Was it sprayed over rust ?
I removed all the surface rust, and then, yes sprayed over whatever rust/paint was left. This product is designed to bond to bare metal, rust, or paint
I admire your craftsmanship and your motivation to take on such a project. I am sure the edit work on the video was no small task. Well Done! Enjoy your ride.
Thank you so much! Yes, the editing took a few weeks!!
nice job, you are the men, congratulations 💪💯💢
Thank you so much for your comment and support!!
You did an amazing job. I really like the no music and no talking. It felt like I was there with you. I have a 64 C10 and I'm doing the exact same thing. Watching this really helped.
Thank you so much! Im glad you enjoyed this format!
Wow, you did a great job! I can only imagine driving a truck this old that drives as smooth as a Chevy Tahoe.
Thank you! Yes it drives so smooth! 😃
Dude, I I gotta admit man that was a beautiful beautiful video. I have a 64 Chevy C 10 that I’m doing the same kind of stuff too except for a few little differences. Man, that was awesome dude I’ll be watching you day one today every day after this, just check you out that was crazy.
Thanks man! Glad you enjoyed it, and good luck with your build!
I love it. The gas can is brilliant. Personally I 'd like white wheels, lower and matte clearcoat. But don't let anyone tell 6what to do!
Thank you! These wheels are definitely temporary! Unfortunately, cant go much lower because the tahoe subframe hangs so low and air ride is too expensive 😄
Thanks again for your comment and support!
overall, well done build. really enjoyed the video and your craftsmanship. only things that had me scratching my head were the high gloss clear, interior color palette/chrome deletes, and mirrors. bonus points on painting the engine block. nice old school touch.
I may change the chrome on the glove box door since it has blinded me more than once 😄
Thanks again!
The hours of R&D you invest have elevated my timberborne game. magic tiles, dwelling efficiencies, constuction supplies, shortest path designs, Just to name a few strategies....
More casual conversations with Picture please.
Thank you for your view and comment! I dont quite understand the comment, but i appreciate your support!
My comment was for a video game channel... I watched just before your video. I now realize how strange that comment is considering your lovely content format. Strong work BTW@@FLManGarage
That makes sense! Thank you! 😃
Mad skills my man! Much respect for your work and dedication to your project.
Thank you so much!! 😃
I have no words..... Instant new sub. You sir are incredibly talented. Love from 🇬🇧
Thank you so much for your support!!
Very nice job! I'm a hot rod builder and this is amazing. Everyone does it there way. You added that military box in the back... I got a name for the truck.. Rambo.
Awesome i like it! Thank you for your comment and support!
Wow so bizarre, as a kid my dad had this exact truck. We put a lot of miles on that truck. I remember driving down a rutted road with a full bed of oak firewood that truck was tough. Nice show dude
That is awesome! I hope to put many miles down on this truck!
Thank you for your comment and support !
Absolutely amazing work, your attention to detail is insane, will definitely be subscribing to watch more of your awesome work man!
Thank you so much! I appreciate your support 😃
I think you done a wonderful job doing that yourself with no help.
Thank you so much! It was an incredible amount of work and i learned so much during the process!
This was an amazing project to watch! The truck turned out incredible!!
Thank you so much for your kind words and support! 😃
Just got to the gas can filler. What a great innovative idea 👍👍
Thank you! That was a fun little project towards the end of the build! 😃
That was amazing! watched every minute of it! You should do a video driving it with scenery and the sounds of the truck.
Thank you for your support!
That is a great idea! I will definitely do that! 😃
absolute beautiful sleeper build love the original patina look and wood in the bed amazing truck
Thank you very much! I appreciate your comment and support!
Call me weird but I actually like the fact that there wasnt any talking going on, just straight to the point
Im glad you enjoyed this format! There will be more to come 👍🏻
Thank you for your support!
@@FLManGarage no worries the ending result was beautiful by the way 👍
Thank you! There will be more to come with this truck and other projects in the future!
This was one of the best videos I have ever watched- and I have watched a lot. Great work and unless you have been there (I have) you cannot appreciate the amount of time and dedication it takes to see a build thru. Seeing the outside work and painting with a 30 mile an hour wind made me smile. Reminds me of me. Hope to see more vids in the future-I'm a subscriber now!
Thank you so much for your kind words and support!!
This was a huge undertaking for me and i am proud to have “finished “ it. (Always more to do!)
It seems to only be windy out when i need to paint something 😄
Fun to watch. I had a 66 Chevy short bed in my 20's. Put a small block 400 in it. Loved the frame off switch.
Awesome!! Thank you for your view and comment!
Beautiful pick up, I have a 1967, greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina, it looks great
Thank you so much! Enjoy your 67! 😃
