  • A couple months back I decided it was definitely time to replace my old hearing aids so off to Costco for testing. The day I was tested Costco received the new JABRA 20 hearing aids to try and they were a good fit for my loss with power to spare for future adjustments. So I ordered a set. With severe hearing loss in both ears I also needed custom molds with encased high power receivers. Well after 2 months of using them I decided to make a quick video about them. For detailed specs check out your Costco hearing center. With no insurance Costco has been the most affordable option for current technology for me.

    Good for you upgrading to some new technology. The hearing aid technology surely must grow by leaps and bounds every single year. Glad you got a good deal and saved some serious money.

      Thanks. They definitely have come a long way the last couple years. I had been putting off new. ones because our senator Schumer promised he would get them covered by Medicare before the last election. Well, he didn’t even try. Never trust a politician up for election. Hope you are doing well and have some time for gardening this season. Next week I will be starting the tomatoes and peppers. Thanks for watching

    Thanks for this video. I'm 61yo & have severe hearing loss. I have been using OTC hearing aids ($500) but I think I'm ready to go with Jabra Pro 20 from Costco. I didn't know they make ear molds for customer's custom fitting. So this might be a good solution for me. $1600/pair won't be so bad.

    I’m a 32 year member of Costco, I have always been pleased with their offerings. In the rare occasion that you have an issue they stand behind you. I also believe there is a 180 day trial and they will refund your money.

      Yes they offer trial periods and even will replace them for 2 years if you loose them or a dog eats one. They constantly update to the highest levels of technology and recommend the proper aids for your hearing loss. Only problem is it now takes 3 months to get an appointment because of a shortage of licensed fitters. Thanks for watching.

    I have purchased 3 hearing aids from Costco in the last 10 years. Every 36 months, my insurance gives $1400.00 reimbursement for hearing aids. Costco is an outstanding option for hearing aids. An maintenance & adjustment are free. My has a $65. Copay to her hearing aid specialist.

    Ty so much for this! Been scouring the internet for a hands-on review and a good look at the device! I'll be a first time HA user, so this is helpful! I tried widex moment via my Healthcare. $5,800 for the top tier! $1,800 for their entry level model. My only concern is that the jabras seem so flat like they don't follow the natural curve of the ear and they may not be ideal for musicians wanting the most natural sound. Anyhow, I really appreciate your very thorough video!

      Best for you to get tested and have them recommend the best solution for your needs. I think you will probably be tied into higher end aids Costco doesn't offer with more features and adjustments if you're a musician. I have basically zero hi frequency hearing and them shifting those frequencies into my range has made a big difference to me and now everything has a more accurate natural sound in my mind but remember it's not the same as the real natural sound being amplified. Thanks for watching.

    Great video review. I wear hearing aids as well. Mine are Resound brand and were very expensive. The app I use is identical to the one I use just renamed to Resound. I hope we get a Costco here as I’ve heard nothing but good about the Jabra brand. I love the rechargeable type, as mine are still the 312 batteries. Mine work flawlessly with the iPhone like yours do

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  6 місяців тому +2

      These are actually Resound aids. I think the Nexia version minus some advanced functions. Jabra is the Costco name that allows the lower prices. With my severe hearing loss I am surprised these tiny aids can go 16 to 17 hours with 2 bars of batteries left. I need to switch to I phone to take advantage of tapping an aid to answer the phone and using the aid microphone instead of talking into the phone. Cannot wait for the auracast to be fully implemented. So far these have been amazing and the fitting software was dead on. Today we have 40 mph winds and the wind noise reduction is amazing when I go out to grab some firewood. Costco is the only store we use anymore because all other stores have tripled pricing lately. Definitely starting to encounter long lines at Costco now due to that. Thanks for watching.

  • @richdiorio3650

    Thanks for the video. I'm thinking of getting these from Costco. I'm in restaurants and bars a lot and the background noise really affects my ability to hear what the person is saying, even when they are pretty close to me. Would you say these might work in the environment to block out the background noise so I can actually hear what the person is saying? These environments are much loader than say a restaurant. Thanks!

    • @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023
      @unemployedredneckhillbilly2023  5 місяців тому +1

      I will say a lot of that will be controlled by the person doing the fitting and programming. Mine handle directional sound good but fast changes like everyone laughing around you can cause overcompensation of the background suppression. For situations like that I find the clip on mic to be best. You can turn up the level of that and reduce everything else to a point where it is really just background noise. I had the background noise suppression turned down at the follow up to get more natural sound that doesn't have fast muting of things like the fridge starting up. I think you should get tested and see what they recommend for your requirements. I think the Jabras would work but there could be other options available. Test them in the store walking around will give you a idea of how they work. I put on the front focus and could hear my wife 20 feet away even with all the crowd sounds and big blower noise. I was able to understand a woman 50 feet away in the checkout line talking to her child. Everyone has different losses and there is not a perfect for everyone aide yet. Thanks for watching.

      I don’t do bars anymore so have no idea. So far work good in crowds and if you want to focus on one person that mic works great. The app really helps fine tune them because each situation is different. I had them allow more background noise for more natural sound and use the app to focus and balance them. I really love the streaming sound quality. Thanks for watching.
