    Great review. I made an appointment with them. I will be seeing them in a couple weeks and I am going to ask for the Jabra Enhance pro 20 because I have the same hearing problem as you. I have bad hearing, ringing in the ears all my life. My problem I am having with my present hearing aids is the sound is muffling, and when people talk the sound is not sharp. So thanks for the review, it was the best I found on youtube.

    Excellent review, thank you so much. 5 years ago I went to an audiologist who told me that my reduced ability to hear was a cognitive issue. I just went to Costco a few months ago and had a much more thorough exam than the one that I had 5 years ago. I qualify for hearing aids and got the Jabra ones. I have much better clarity when in small groups, but noisy environments (like loud music at Starbucks) are not great. Even on speech mode everything is amplified, including the music. Now that I watched your video I'll go back to Costco for an adjustment for this. However, overall I'm very pleased with the service I received at Costco and the aids themselves. BTW, my wife has had hearing aids for a number of years. Her original ones were almost $6,000! She lost one and got a new pair at Costco (I think the Phillips??) for $1500. What a difference in price!

      Hey @Drmikekuna, thanks for your feedback! Yes, as long as the hearing aids they offer match one's needs, then Costco is hard to beat. And, yes, noisy environments remain the toughest challenge for hearing manufactures.
      I'm about to review the Phonak Audéo Sphere Infinio. Very excited as these aids have dedicated chip just for noise control. But I've been known to get excited about new technology before that after all didn't deliver. 😁 Stay tune! We'll find out soon!

    Thanks for your review. I've had my Jabra Pro 20's for three months and I've been really impressed with them. One of the things you didn't mention is Costco only sells the top of the line models for the three brands they sell. Also, there is a 180 day period from the date of purchase in which you can return them for any reason and you will get a full refund.

    • @HearingCare-Channel
      @HearingCare-Channel  5 місяців тому +2

      You're very welcome, and thank you for these additions. I can't confirm the top model per brand, or at least we can say they sell the top model at a given time (as that changes when new models are released). Absolutely correct about the return policy. I thought I mentioned it. There are so many details to cover on aids like these ones. My bad for not including this detail. 🤦‍♂️

      You're very welcomed! To the best of my knowledge and last time I checked, getting the Pro 20 model requires physically visiting Costco. Only the non-Pro Enhance line is available online as OTC hearing aids. I know the naming is confusing. There's Enhance and separately Enhance Pro.

      These and the Rexton, but in my humble opinion, these are more advanced and offer premium features.

      Especially for speech clarity in noisy environments. The only thing with the Jabra is their bright, open sound that one might need to get used to, but you can adjust so much in the app itself, that this to me is a non-issue.

    I am going to Costco today for a hearing test. I think the Jabra Enhanced 20 sound good. How will they compare to Philips 9050, which are supposed to be released by 2025? Will Apple ever get into the hearing aid market? You can always use AirPods in Live Listen mode.

    • @HearingCare-Channel
      @HearingCare-Channel  5 місяців тому +1

      Hi @ArnoldWinters, it's really hard to comment on hearing aids that are not available on the market yet. They're *expected* to catch up Philips to the same level where Jabra Pro 20 and other manufactures are, but again, until they're out it's really hard to say. Also, not sure what's the delay with them. They were supposed to be available already, I believe.
      The Jabra do sound bright/open to enhance speech recognition. Give yourself some time to get used it, and use the advanced EQ settings to fine tune the aids to your liking.
      I personally think Apple will stay away from the professional-level hearing aids market for a few different reasons, but I have no internal information to base my assumption on. 😁

    I’m gonna be real here. These are terrible for mild to moderate loss. This actually goes for all hearing aids. The main issue we have generally is being able to navigate a conversation with noisy environments. That’s it. People who can hear in the normal range can do this, but once you lose your hearing just beyond that, you’re done. Your quality of life will never be the same.
    For severe loss, yeah, it’s an improvement. And it works.
    But nearly ALL hearing aids will not improve your ability to hear in loud environments, abled hearing people can do this. There’s something about being able to isolate sounds naturally vs synthetically and we just don’t have the technology yet. I’ve been perusing this since I was a kid. Nothing has ever worked.
    Only thing I can say is to try to control your environment, move around, don’t be afraid ask the same questions over and over again and be clear with people that you can’t hear to avoid them from being frustrated with you.
    You’re gonna miss out on things and that’s ok. It’s life, but I’m done looking for hearing aids until something better comes along.

      Hi @MikeHamMan,
      I hear you and I know your pain on a very personal level! But there are a few things:
      1. These hearing aids are aimed at people with severe hearing loss, not mild to moderate. They also come with the full audiologist experience and are not OTC aids.
      2. How much these aids or other premium hearing aids can help people like us hear in noisy environments actually depends on your own hearing profile and the aids ability to cater to your profile. If there's a match, between the aids ability and a person's hearing profile, then the aids will do a good job supporting you in a noisy environment. This also assumes, of course, that the aids were tuned to your specific needs. Will you ever hear exactly like someone with no hearing loss? Of course not. As you say, right now the technology doesn't exist despite all the sophisticated algorithms and AI that today's aids employ. This also assumes that the aids you're looking at support sophisticated noise reduction, and the Jabra Pro 20 definitely do.
      I completely agree with on controlling the environment as much as possible and asking people to repeat if you didn't hear them. I used to by shy and tried to avoid frustrating other people, but if the conversation is important (could be on different levels), then you should definitely clearly explain to people that you're suffering from hearing loss and can't/couldn't hear them.
      In fact, when I walk into social events/environments these days, I immediately communicate to people about my hearing loss and challenges. 98% of the time people are willing to make an effort and make sure you're included in the conversation. And for the 2%...? Who cares? 😁
      But, yes, it's no wonder that hearing in noisy environments is still the biggest challenge. If you're someone with severe hearing loss, it's part of the package. The difference in the recent years is that now you have some options on how to make that package a little better.

      @@HearingCare-Channel They don’t work. And countless people with my type of hearing loss have expressed the same grievances with these devices. I’ve had OTC, prescription and everything in between.
      As a person with mild to moderate loss, I still miss out on a lot of things. I would argue to say that it’s a lot worse for us because you KNOW how much you’re missing out. My dad has pretty profound hearing loss and he’s as happy as a clam because he doesn’t know any better.
      Any company that advertises aids for people with my level of hearing loss are lying, borderline fraudulent at this point. I’ve been doing this song and dance for 3 decades. I’ve also been working in marketing for quite a while and I will not let anyone or any entity try to skirt around hinting that they might be helpful for us for mild/moderates just to make a buck and capture us as potential consumers. They’re not. Full stop. I’m deep in this community. I know how people feel about this industry, and it has to stop.
      Also, any for-profit company that works in any type of medical field should be immediately bankrupt. We spend nearly a trillion dollars blowing people up rather than getting the care people need. We can do it, but we choose not to.
      Anyways, anyone reading this with mild to moderate hearing loss, do not get these expensive aids or any expensive prescription ones. Get some cheap OTC ones because they literally sound all the same with little improvement.
      Those with profound/severe loss, go for it. They’ll be better than what you’re experiencing now.

      @@MikeHamMan First, I'd like to ask something: I love to communicate and better understand where people are coming from, what are their challenges, and their opinions. But let's keep the conversation positive. Also, please don't assume that your experience is everyone's experience (it's not).
      I'm curious to understand your position better: If you suffer from tinnitus, how bothersome it's from 1-10 (1=not bothersome >> 10=debilitating)? From what you're writing, it sounds like you do recognize that hearing aids support your moderate hearing loss in non-noisy environments and situations, correct? Lastly, do you use Bluetooth to stream sounds into your hearing aids? This could be for pleasure (music, movies, etc.) or for work (phone calls, meetings, web conferences).

I'll be able to report soon!
