I’ve had my Philips 9050’s for just over two weeks now and they are hands down the best hearing aids I’ve ever worn. My last two pairs were both Widex and while I don’t think music sounds as good on the 9050 hearing aids, I am hearing and understanding speech (even in noise) like never before. I even heard and understood my three year old grandson as he whispered to me. I didn’t think that was even possible with hearing aids. I’m just so happy and recommend them to everyone.
Wow, that’s really great. Thanks for the update and feedback. I’ve heard this same sentiment from several patients too, people are doing REALLY well with them. What a great set of aids
I've been following you for quite some time and value your opinion and like previous comments, have stopped listening to another individual. I would like to know if you have tested the 9050 Phillips, and if so what is your opinion of their upgrades. I will be a first time user and have been tested. My loss is moderate to extreme high frequency in both ears. Thank you for any information. Rob
@@robertboyle7418I am not an experienced reviewer but to reply I still would recommend the Phillips 8050 hearing aids to everyone. I just love that they allow me to hear speech so much better than my previous aids. I love that when I’m in a noisy place I can turn down the volume and the noise decreases but the speech stays up and I can still hear speech.
just got my 9050s from Costco today,,,,,amazing....they are the best aids I have ever had.... Driving at 50 mph w windows down....no wind noise......and I can hear everyone around me in the grocery store......really quality service from Costo and from Philips 9050.....
Can't wait for your video about what Dr. Cliff says about Costco hearing department and products! I found Costco to be an excellent experience! Hope you do this video next!
When I first started my journey with hearing aids, to try to help with tinnitus, I first went to an Audiologist. I had 3 Sessions with that Audiologist, and while he was really nice and did what I thought was an okay job with my testing and fitting of some Phonack hearing aids I used as trial for 4 months with follow-ups and adjustments. At the end of my trial for the Phonack hearing aids before full purchase, I decided to go to Costco due to price. I will tell you now that the Costco audiograms, and fitment, and programming were by far way better than what I got from the Audiologist. Costco did way more types of fitmit exam and testing. The Audiologist didn't even do. In my personal experience Costco did a full and proper job, where as the Audiologist (associated with a large hospital and clinic system) did not do a proper or complete job at all. So don't let people talk bad about Costco hearing centers. My Costco I used is in Lubbock TX. Kudos to them.
That's been my experience too. I've been to audiologists with their advanced degrees using so called "best practice" and they were totally incompetent. I was going back weekly because they could not get it right. I've purchased two sets of HA's at Costco and they are second to none. Both times there was a follow-up visit to confirm everything was okay and there was never an issue.
I am 84 and over many years no local provider compared with Costco the only down side for me is the 180 mile round trip getting to the nearest Costco. Still worth it hands down..
The 9050s just arrived in Ottawa Canada, in fact, I'm driving to Ottawa tomorrow to buy them, my first hearing aids. No surprise since I just turned 80.
Cliff saying he doesn't recommend Costco anymore is why I stopped watching him and found you and I think you are honest and caring be cause you try to give us the best knowledge you have, Thank you.
Cliff notes that Costco does not have a test machine to see if the HA are working as they are supposed to and not defective. That is part of Best Practices. He says a good percentage do not work perfectly.
@thehearingclub I have severe to profound hearing loss. I tried the Philips 9040 and had a feedback noise similar to how it sounds when you are talking into a fan. It occurred several times a day. They replaced them and it still happened with the new set. The hearing specialist called Phillips and they said the never heard of anything like that before and where unable to help. After several follow up for close to six months Costco never got rid of the problem so I returned them and they never offered me to try another brand like Jabra . Any feedback as on this as to what might of fixed the problem would be appreciated. I am using my old hearing aids from Sam’s but know I will need a new hearing aids soon. Sam’s hearing aids are ok but want better options in an app that Sam’s doesn’t provide.
I purchased Rexton bicore from Costco if Ft Myers Florida and I will say that my audiologist did a way better job than several adjustments by a private hearing Aid fitter for my previous hearing aids.
Thanks for all you do in providing us with this great information!!!!!! Great video! Would like to hear more about the remote and how it works. You talk about adjustability, do these adjust automatically to your environment? If yes does it make adjustability less of an issue? Would you choose these over Jabra and Rexton? Lastly, is the noise reduction on the Jabra significantly better than the 9050?
Just swapped my Phillips 9040s for the 9050. These hearing aids are absolutely amazing. Driving down the road with the radio on and the widows down -- I hear minimal wind noise. The devices works perfectly with my Pixel 6. Android has several new options under hearing aids in the setup screens now too. I'm so happy I caught this video before my 6 months expired. I had 3 days left to make a swap. Thanks!
I'm thrilled to see you mention your experience with the Pixel 6 and the 9050's. I just ordered the 9050's today and I was worried about hands-free (etc) ability with my Pixel 7. Everything I read said that newer Samsung phones were the only proven phones to work (well) with Philips. I was not about to get rid of my Google phone. I'm a huge Google fan so that was a deal breaker for me. Fingers crossed my 7 works as well as your 6 with the Philips 9050.
Nice to hear that you had a significant improvement going from the 9040 to 9050. The 9050s were available when I swapped my trial Jabre's in (didn't quite work out for me). They still had 9040s in stock and gave me them vs the new 9050s; not sure why and am now thinking I may swap the trial 9040s in for the 9050s. If you have any other differences you noticed between them I'd like to hear about them. Glad you are happy with the 9050s.
I understand the 9050 has 7 programs of operation. I am confused whether the user can change programs on his/her own or it requires the “fitter” at Costco to change programming involving a Costco visit by appointment. With only one button, I presume it will have one function set up by the fitter. How do you use the 9050 to answer smart phone calls if the buttons control volume? Love your presentations.
you can change the modes using the app or... when you get a phone call, pressing the button will answer the call. If there is no incoming call, pressing the button will change volume or programs depending on how they are setup.
Just got my 9050s. So fare good. I hear a lot better than I do. I like I do not need a smart phone to work it. I know I still have time to try it out. I hope it all works out.
Would you be able to share insight on when the Phillips 9050 will be available in a custom in the ear for Costcos members? Enjoyed your videos. I have 9030 now and ready for an up grade. Appreciate Costco’s because of you guys everybody is paying less for hearing aids and for that I am very grateful
Enjoyed the information you shared in this video! My wife currently uses ME brand and has had some challenges with them. My question to you is: as a director of the A/V department at my local house of worship, how can I provide or who can I contact to provide what is necessary for the Auracast system please?
Any problems with Costco HA's can only be serviced thru costco, stay close! My Phillips HA's failed after 3 mos, Phillips says there is a second battery in the HA that can only be services thru costco.
Couldn't agree with you more about the need for an adjustable app. Get a simple view when you want but give me an option to get into the settings like a great equalizer, noise reduction, sound direction, etc.
I appreciate Costco at least making an effort to bring more options to people to be able to afford hearing aids in the first place. Many are out of reach for many people. Thank you for all the information. I wish they would have some option to finance them at a reasonable rate. Credit card rates are just ridiculous!
I've had the Kirkland 10's for three years and have been very pleased with them. One issue that is happening now is connectivity. I'm having to return to Costco which is 2 miles away and have the front man that does cleaning and software updates takes care of it in a few minutes. I'll milk these for a few more months and probably replace them with the Phillips 9050's. I do wish as we all do that they were smaller . The counterman did mention that Phonak will be releasing a new aid but it's hush hush and he doesn't know when it will be released.
Which is the best Costco aid of the three for answering the phone without using the phone? Do any of them have an iWatch app to allow answering the phone to the aids from the iWatch? Do any of the three aids use wireless charging of the aids? Can I get the Rexon charger+ instead of the travel charger and if or if not, how much more is the Charger+?
They all work great answering the phone using the aids as long as it’s an iPhone. Not sure about the watch, I don’t have one but I’m planning on getting one. No wireless charging that I’m aware of. Yes, you can get whatever charger you want as long as it is the correct brand. Rexton for Rexton, Philips for Philips etc…
I just watched your video on the Rexton Reach hearing aids yesterday and how impressed you were with the technology. How would you compare the Philips 9050 aids? I am going to be deciding on hearing aids soon and have been leaning towards the Rexton
Loved your 9050 presentation. Since the 9050 has AI features, do you know if their AI can be updated via internet or their cell phone programs with improved features over time or is the AI a fixed technology at the point of purchase without the possibility of AI updates? Since my eCars allow AI updates, why not make hearing aids' AI updatable as technology improves over the warrantied 3 year period? Appreciate your knowledge. thank you.
@@HearingClub I am very interested in seeing this review once you get it done. As I've mentioned I now have the 9040s and trying to decide if I should go with the 9050s. The more I think about it, and have read a few good comments about them here, I will most likely do the swap. Although, newer isn't always better and why I'm having trouble deciding. The 9040s are doing fine for me and I'd hate to try the 9050s and find they might be worse (most likely not, but still wonder) because I would have to return my 9040s and was told I cannot go back and get a pair that I've already tried during the 180 day trial; and that would include the Jabras that I returned.
I am a Costco member in the UK. I have had the Jabra Enhance Pro 20 for under 6 months and they just do not work with my Google Pixel 8. The latest Google software update just meant they would not connect. Costco (Watford) have been brilliant. They have today taken back my Jabra's, given me a full refund and then ordered the Phillips 9050 for me, which they think will work better with Android. I get these the beginning of October, but hopefully they will work
I’m going to have to make a video about which phones work with what hearing aids. We have so many issues with google pixels, they are terrible with all 3 brands. You should have kept your Jabra’s, that was a big mistake. All 3 brands of hearing aids are made for iPhone, not android
@@HearingClub I basically have the same story as paulmisner except I have a Pixel 7. Your statement that these hearing aides are made for I phone and not android is a bit different than my understanding. It would be great if you could do a video explaining the differences in how i phone and android work with various hearing aide brands. It's a real waste of time to purchase hearing aides assuming they will work with my phone when in fact they are not compatible. Thanks and keep up the good work!
I have the 9050's and will be returning them. They don't work with Android phones per Phillips customer service to Bluetooth a phone conversation via the hearing aids. In addition, the only way to stream music, UA-cam, etc. is to purchase a $300 clip. Customer service said they really are made for iPhones and not android, and they wished Costco would tell folks upfront, as they get a lot of calls about them not working properly with Android.
I went to Costco and returned my Jabra's for the Philips. They just didn't work for 'me'. The 9050's were available when I exchanged the Jabras, but the fitter told me the 9040's are just as good. I was told they both have Auracast; although I thought only the newer 9050's have it.?.? Otherwise, I was told the 9040 HA's are actually a bit smaller vs the new 9050s and would fit better for me as I wear glasses. And was told the 9040's charger, although a bit larger, is non-contact inductive charging. Whereas the 9050s charger went back a notch and now has contacts that mate with the HA's to charge. Given the above, I was told the HA's are basically the same, have the same amount of tuning bands, etc., etc,. I'm certainly not the expert when it comes to knowing about the differences between the 9040 and 9050 HA's. My question - is all of what I was told true and/or should I exchange my 9040s to the newer 9050s to gain newer improvements? I plan on keeping whatever I go with for 5-10 years.
well the 9040's certainly DONT have auracast capabilities. There are several pretty significant upgrades from the 9040's to the 9050's. I would watch my review of the 9050's. Why did you return the jabras, specifics please.
@@HearingClub The Jabras simply could not be 'tuned' so I could hear the birds (high frequencies) outside my window; like I could with my previous Phonak HA's that only lasted 3 years and cost 3-4x as much as Costco's. I remember putting the Phonaks in my hears and sometimes I would hear a high pitch 'feedback', that I now also hear similarly with the Philips, when I first put them in my ears; not a bad thing, but good as I know the gain is nice and high. Once in my ears and on, I don't hear that feedback. The second reason was I was having difficulty hearing my wife talk to me in the evening when watching TV; she sits 2 chair widths away and on the left of me. I went back 3 times to the same fitter to try to get the Jabra's working correctly. After no 'luck' she said that I should try Philips and that may/should work better based on what I'm telling her. When I went to pick the Philips up, my original fitter was no longer there. My first fitter, said my 2nd fitter, also recommended to my 2nd fitter that they give me a 'try' and maybe they can get better results. My 2nd fitter also seemed quite knowledgeable and got the Philips working fine, although I did have to go back a 2nd time to get the initial out of the box each day gain increased a bit; I now can hear the birds (well at least in the spring) pretty good. In the end ... was it the fitter or the Jabras.?.? I'm no one to judge. Oh, almost forgot and important to add ... my 2nd fitter prescribed the next level up receiver so am thinking that was a big reason why the Philips may work better. I believe I did see your review some time ago on the 9050s. My believe the store was just trying to clear stock of the older 9040s, if that makes sense.?.? I wasn't sure what to do when I 1st received them because I knew the 9050 were available at the store. I am thinking now the 9050s probably can do more than the 9040s, but don't know for sure mainly talking about better hearing capabilities - as that's what really counts IMO. I think it will be quite a while before Auracast becomes useful (let me know otherwise). I did watch your video above and thought it was your review of them 9050s (only because it was the latest).?.? If I'm wrong, please provide a link to it. I did watch the earlier 'review' (linked in the video above) of the 9050s you did and stated they are pretty much the same as the Oticon Intent 1. And please let me know (of course your opinion) if you think it best for me to exchange the 9040 for the 9050s.?.? Thanks very much for all you do. I just became a member today to show my appreciation!
@@HearingClub I should clarify some. The technician said the 9040s and 9050s have the same LE codec. I thought the latest LE codec also allowed Aurocast work.?.? I thought the latest LE codec used much less power and is why it's LE (low energy) and didn't think the 9040s had it. Additionally, I also thought the latest LE codec that the 9050s have also provide more 'clarity' over the codec the 9040s have, due to higher bandwidth, etc. I think that alone would justify swapping the 9040s in for the 9050s. After all, to me what counts the most about a HA is its ability to provide good 'hearing' over the entire frequency range a person is able to hear. I hate trading in a 2nd pair, due to all the work that's been done, but really feel I should have been given the choice 9040 vs 9050 when I returned my Jabres and got the Philips.?. I'm not quite sure why I was simply provided a pair of 9040s with reasons why they are just as good as the 9050s and some reasons why they're better; 9040s smaller size, 2 buttons on each HA, same LE codec, wireless charging, same ability to fit and tune in the software the technician is using, same amount of 'tuning channels'. So at the time, I didn't think much about just saying no to the 9040s and went ahead and got fit. I thought, well, I've got 180 days to try them and could always swap them in figuring more data, reviews, opinions, etc. would become available within that time. BTW - thanks very much for all your work and information you provide.about the Costco experience and HAs they offer. It's all very helpful.
My 6 month trial is up. I have the Jabra 10’s, can I upgrade to 20’s? I’ve had my 10’s for a year and I keep getting a cracking sound on and off. Is it true everyone should be retesting hearing and adjusting volume at least once a year?
You can upgrade to the 20’s but there is no buy back or trade in option so you would be paying the full cost. Question 2, I would come in every 2 years. If you you have a history of drastically changing hearing in short periods of time or maybe Ménière’s disease, then once a year is a good idea.
I jst got the Rexton Reach 5 days ago and disapointed with them .I have had the KS-9 for 5 years and can hear better with them. I have a profoung hearing loss. Costco 2024 Reading: AS: 56% AD:26% au 74%. I have an appointment on deecmber 18 for a follow up- adjustment. Thinling of trying out the Phiips 9050. What are your thoughs on that?
Does the 9050 have tap control like the KS10? I use it frequently to answer/end phone calls and to pause music streaming . Also, is android phone calls hands free using the hearing aid's microphone? Thank you
i was kind of joking when i said that but the reason is the latest samsung models allow you to connect to and broadcast an auracast stream or audio transmission.
First timer here. I have asymetric hearing determined by my Costco fitter. The fitter wanting to do a complete and thorough fitting sent me to an ENT. The ENT also wanting to do a thorough job sent me to get an MRI. With the results of the MRI the ENT detrmined i am a candidate for aids. I'm headed to Costco in 3 days to get fitted finally. I'm glad the 9050''s are finally available. So far I am 100% satisfied with Costco and their professionall assement of my hearing loss. Stay tuned. I'm not sure if in my particular situation they will recommend the 9050's but I trust they will fit me with the most appropriate brand.
sometimes they will make a recommendation depending on the fitter and some fitters will say, try them all and go with what sounds best for you. It all depends on the person that is doing the fitting. I normally recommend something based on the questions you answer and go from there.
GREAT VIDEO!!!! I went to an audiologist today who carries only Oticon. I was telling her that Costco offers the 9050 now which is the equivalent to the Intent. She said it can't be the Intent it's has to be the Real. Is that true? And is there a big difference between the Intent and Real? THANKS!!!
Demant (danish company) makes oticon and Philips hearing aids. I’ve made a lot of videos about this, watch the other Philips videos and I explain it in detail. Oticon More 1 = Philips 9030 Oticon Real 1 = Philips 9040 Oticon Intent 1 = Philips 9050 You have to understand, that oticon intent may be the 1,2 or 3. The 1 is premium, the 3 is basic. The Costco Philips are the premium, the 1
I tried to “return and buy” my 9040’s. My 6 months is up January 6. I’m told I need a new hearing test since my last was in April. They have no spots open until end of January. What now! Apparently I’m outta luck. Seems like they should make an exception if they don’t have room in time!
returning a product to try to get in on the promotion is not a good thing to do. We go through SO MUCH to fit you a pair of hearing aids. To have to undo all that work just to get a promotional offer is a huge waste of time and effort for the fitter doing all the work. We spend so much time on the testing, the REM verification and all of the follow ups, i would probably make the same decision as your fitter.
Over last 12 years I have always purchased my hearing aids from Costco. Now have Phillips 9040 and mostly satisfied. But the iOS version of App is for me marginal at best. It randomly disconnects becomes a nightmare to reconnect. Which means among other things sometimes it talks to my phone. A call to Phillips Tech Support resolved nothing. Fitter at Costco that I have worked with for at least 7-8 years can immediately reconnect them and phone, but it takes a 42 mile round trip to see him. Battery for me has not been an issue. I wear the 9040's for 11-12 hours a day without battery failure. Thanks for heads up on the 9050.
it comes with a battery pack in the charger itself that i believe will give you another day of power without needing AC power. and if the charger is USB connected, I believe you can power the charger with USB battery banks so in theory you can go days without AC power. Charge time is only 2 hours and you can get a decent charge in 30 minutes.
I have a ks10s now and I really do have hands-free listening on the phone with Bluetooth. I'm looking at the Philips that Costco has but I've discovered that with my Android phone at least I can't do it the same way. I have to have some type of audio microphone to listen on the phone. I just don't hear on the phone as well. Unless it's Bluetooth. My husband will be having his first pair of hearing aids and he's going to try the Phillips so I think what I'll do is find out how it works for him before I stop using these ks10s. Is the connecting different with an iPhone as far as hands-free Bluetooth with the hearing aids? Thanks for your help.
I had a problem with Dr. Cliff too. I told him that most retired folks could not afford what he was selling as "Best Practices". Cliff answered back and said that he would put my comment "back in the trash, where it belongs." Money has taken over with him.
I had Jabra Enhance from Costco and the hearing aids were lousy. Constant issues and Costco wouldn't take the initiative to get it repaired. All I heard was Jabra was working on a fix (7 mos.) While going through this, Costco neglected to tell me during the back and forth trips I could get new ones. Made no sense. I confronted her about this and she shrugged. Costco wouldn't work with me so I got in touch with Jabra... what did they say... Costco's problem. No one wanted to deal with it. I demanded and got a full refund. Thus, I am nervous about dealing with Costco (in MD). I live in PA, so perhaps I'll give them a try.
my dad has ks-10 I’d like to upgrade them for him. would u do a review to compare the 3 latest, philips, rexton, and jabra? The biggest pain point I heard about is connecting to multiple apple devices (iphone, ipad, macbook) back and forth. which one works best with bluetooth multipoint? thank you! ❤
Just watched another video on these and they are the same as Oticon Intent and the other reviewer said they have issues including bluetooth issues etc. Do you have these and other issues with these?
I've been trying to make an appointment for about three days. There's no longer anyone to take phone calls. The hearing aid techs are supposed to answer or return calls in their spare time. The experience is awful. I've called once, early, and left a message. Then I'll call back about every 20-30 minutes or so to try to get a person to make an appointment. I'm in Florida; so the tourest season hasn't started yet. When it does it will become impossible to speak with someone. I'm told that the decision to decimate service was made by corporate: if the receptionist wasn't amenable to more training to be a tech, they'd lose their job. One solution might be for a single receptionist to handle 2 or 3 stores. That way customers could still get an appointment.
this was due to a TERRIBLE change in the hearing aid centers. Costco got the bright idea of getting rid of our front desk attendant position. Now, all the fitters have to perform their normal duties, testing, fitting, etc... and answer all the phone calls. Its just not possible. So take it easy on the staff, they are doing what they can. This was a terrible idea.
The only thing available at Costco (in the Raliegh, NC area) is the charger for the 9050s. The hearing aids themselves are NOT available yet. Why is Costco not making these available nation-wide???? Even tried using my VPN to appear to be logged in from Florida, Illinois and California. Still only seeing the charger available. WTF Costco!
I have the Jabras ( about 6 weeks) and my hearing in noise is great. But the Bluetooth for listening to podcasts is useless. It jumps from stereo to one ear, then the other, and also gone. Can not listen to even one podcast. For that reason, these new Philips sound like something I should switch to. Thank you for this video and now I will watch the details video.
I have the same issues with my Jabra’s. I just kind of deal with it because the main purpose is hearing and they are just the best for that, and noise. The streaming definitely could be better but ya, I hear you.
Same thing here. Also, the sound quality, on podcasts as well as music, is terrible. Voices on podcasts sound like a cheap transistor radio. MY KS10s sound quite good.
Thank you for the information!! I have the 9040’s that I purchased on 5/26. I just checked our Costco on the Central Coast of California online and they’re still showing the 9040’s. I also have the TV adapter. Do you know if that will work with the 9050’s or would that need to be replaced as well? I’m sure hoping the 9050’s come out here in the next couple of months. If not I’ll consider just getting a refund and wait. As far as the App 👎🏼 It really could use a significant upgrade! Once again, Thank you for your videos!!
My pleasure! Sometimes it takes a while for them to update the website. I would call and ask, I’m sure they are available there. And yes, your current tv adapter will be compatible with the 9050’s. Just like Jabra, the hearing aids should be backwards compatible with the older tv streamers 😊
I called our Costco. The 9050’s are due in today. I have an appointment for 9/20 :) I told her I would be returning my 9040’s for an upgrade 😊 Thank you!!
Do you know if the branded Oticon MiniRite Smart Chargers C-2A or C-1B2 will work with these Philip 9050? Looking to pickup a backup and save a few bucks. Thanks
yes they are, the audiologist just doesn't want to or they cant find the software. They CAN be programmed anywhere as long as they have the software. i actually have a video on this explaining step by step how to do it.
So I am about 5 weeks into a pair of 9040's from Costco. How do I go about swapping for the 9050's when my local Costco has them? What does that do to my 6 month trial?
@@nobrien1 Costco has a 180 day return policy. I got my 9040s in January. I returned them in June knowing that the 9050s were coming out. I've since changed my requirements to Custom In-the-Ear so I would have had to return them anyway.
I am thinking of returning my Jabras because when I returned to the classroom last week, I found that the aids keep losing connection with the app. I rely on the programs to make classroom noise manageable. Do you think the Phillips would have better reliability on this front? ( I have an iPhone )
Absolutely not, the Philips have the least amount of customization with the microphones. There are a couple of noise programs and you can try them but you have no real control of them. When this happens, shut the phone off and back on and that should really help. If they do this excessively, send them out for a warranty repair.
Haven’t gotten my aids yet, I was thinking Jabra, now not sure any more. Do you believe Jabra to be the best even over the 9050? Please help me out here, thank you for your channel.
well, im going to be doing some comparison videos that i'm sure will help you out but I honestly think all 3 are great. My suggestion is to try them all and see what you do best with. Whatever you choose, you should be successful.
What do you prefer jabra or Philip. I had Philip first the phone calls were horrible reception. I need to get work hand free at work. Having the same problem with jabra.
i would say try out the elehear first and see what you think, its definitely going to save you money IF they work for you and they sure can work. However, you will never get the same quality sound as a real prescription aid like the 9050's. But it's going to cost ya. See how you do with the elehear beyond and if it doesn't work out, return it and try the 9050's. You will definitely do well with the 9050's, they are the best you can get.
Unfortunately they do not and I really wish I could have notified you all when they were coming so you would be better informed but I have to play by their rules :(
I just noticed that you have a fee to join the hearing club. Do I have to join your hearing club to get answers to my post and or emails? Is that why I haven't got a response from my emails and post?
No no not at all, the fee is just to support the channel. Some folks like to help me out for all the information I provide. The reason I don’t respond right away is because the channel is growing and everyday, there’s 100 new comments and 10 emails a day. I try but with a full time job, it’s hard to keep up
I have Phillips 9030 and android S22 (Samsung). Hand free option does not work in this combination.Which android phone supports hand free calling so that I can speak through Hearing Aids microphone. My plan is to buy 9050 very soon. I would like to buy either newer Samsung or Google phone. Thanks
I have a Philips 9050 hearing aid Bluetoothed to my Samsung Galaxy G21 Android phone. I am told by my Costco hearing tech that the 9050 can not answer or close phone calls by tap or button push with Android cellphones. In addition the 9050 microphone also is not active with Android phones. However these features are operational with iPhones. Apparently the iPhone patent for these features has expired, so Android cellphones could program these features in their smartphones to allow hands free operation and communication with the 9050 Philips units. Could you inquire of Samsung & Hearlink & lobby Samsung to create an updated app or phone to parallel the use of the 9050 Philips hearing aids in a manner similar to the iPhone? Please let us know when there is an Android update to permit these features as they function in the iPhone: double tap to answer and end mobile phone calls, and an active hearing aid Mike to allow voice communication with cellphone not in one's hand near one's mouth. Thank you.
I am curious about the new Bluetooth technology as related to venues like cruise ships. Specifically, the range of the signal. If they run Auracast in the main theater, will the HA, headphones etc. pick up that audio stream in other entertainment venues, or even just outside the theater? I think it will be wonderful to have Auracast in every entertainment venue on a cruise ship, but only if there is a way to confine the signal to each venue. I don't want to hear bingo numbers during a trivia game in the adjacent room.
ya, i used to respect him but not anymore, hes absolutely ridiculous but remember, he uses his youtube channel to promote his business. I dont have a business to promote, i just try to save people money.
I wrote to Philips and the wrote back denying that the Philips 9050 have Auracast, and that was the main reason I bought them. To future proof my investment. Very disappointed.
I'm happy to see the 9050s finally arrive at Costco. I had decided to upgrade to the Oticon Intent I or 9050. But I have been thrown off guard by the sudden introduction of the new Phonak Audéo Sphere Infinio 90, which, according to reports, has superior noise reduction for listening in noisy crowds and restaurants. I wish Costco would carry a comparable Phonak hearing aid, but I understand they no longer carry Phonak products based on Sonova's decision.
They may go back to phonak at costco. In my heart of hearts, I think Costco is gonna sell phonak again. They were the best selling hearing aid and now that phonak is releasing their new model, I’d bet money that Costco will give them another chance
It’s basically another KS10, I still need to do some research on it but it’s just another sonova/phonak hearing aid. After all the problems we had with our last sonova hearing aid… I had to edit my reply so I don’t get in trouble for saying too much but ya, I’m not a fan, not yet anyway.
The Philips are all ready for Auracast? The Oticon Intents are'nt yet. I have Jabra Pro 20's that I am going to return because the Bluetooth is so glitchy and sounds terrible on my S23. Your voice sounds like you are speaking through a tin can streaming through my Jabras. I hope Philips and Rexton have it figured out. Do have a friend with an S23 or S24 who can help you test them and how they work with the FlooGoo120? My Jabras didn't work with it.😢
@@HearingClub Too bad we don't live near each other. BTW, I trialed the FlooGoo and their service was great. GN updated the software on the Nexia to get them working together, but the update hasn't reached Jabra 20s yet.
My fitter at Costco told me that Costco's policy doesn't allow them to install the tinnitus program. I'm updating to Phillips 9050 from my 8 yr old Phonak Ventures. My question: Can the tinnitus program be installed on Costco purchased Phillips 9050's from an independant provider, OR, are they proprietized for Costco to the extent that the tinnitus program cannot be installed ? I'm very impressed with our local Costco hearing aid dept, BUT, having severe tinnitus and not being able to get the tinnitus program installed may be a non-starter for me, but I'll wait and try them out for a while. Thanks for any information you may have as my local Costco couldn't answer this question.
I just got a pair of Philips 9050s on Monday, 11/18/24. The technician performing the hearing test and the fitting went above and beyond in my opinion. I had previously been tested by the audiologist at my ENT office and there was no difference to me. The one big difference was the cost of the device. The audiologist had recommended the Oticon Real 1 for $6K. But, there was no trial period. Once you had them, that was it. I still need to become accustomed to using aids. I think I need to have the ambient sound suppression fine tuned for focusing on speech. However, in general I have experienced greatly improved speech recognition.
thats amazing! thank you so much for sharing, people need to see these comments so they know they dont need to spend $6,000. I sold hearing aids for $10,400 at beltone. They are EXACTLY the same as the costco aids.
@@HearingClub So, I've had some time with my 9050s now. BTW, I'm in Pennsylvania. I don't think I mentioned that in my original post. Anyway, I'm pretty accustomed to using these things now even though I am a first time hearing aid user. Some thoughts: I'd love to have more control over the "color" of the sound. There needs to be additional channels on the graphic equalizer in the app. I still feel like the high frequency sounds have an edge or sharpness to them sometimes. I'm also still figuring out which modes I like best for different situations. The voice in noise mode isn't always that great. Sometimes it's better to just use "noise". Anyway, still working at learning to wear these guys!! Now, in your opinion. How does the sound for hearing speech with iPods compare to the 9050s?
@charliejg This was pretty much my experience also with a so called 'Audioligist's Office'. I was actually telling the audiologist things that they were not aware of. I believe she was pretty new out of school. This was my first experience with getting HAs and found it hard to believe they couldn't get the 'tuning' correct the 1st time. I wound up going back 3 times and eventually they were OK. AND I only had 3 visits that were included with the HA price. Anymore and I'd have to pay for an office visit!! The HAs that I got were Phonaks. They were quite good, BUT they cost near 6K (with insurance it was about $1500 per HA - so $3k out of my pocket) + the initial hearing test cost. AND one Phonak started getting 'static' about 2 years later (still under warranty). Then the other side developed the same problem (was then past the 3 year warranty. I asked about simply using another family member's Phonak (was one level down from mine) and was told $900 to get another hearing test and programming of the Phonak HA that I provided! I thought heck, I can get a brand new pair of whatever Costco had for $1400-$1500 and unlimited visits. That's what I did and am extremely happy with my Philips 9040s, although will most likely trade them in for the 9050s, since I'm still in the 180 day trial period, as well as the experience with the hearing test and fittings. I would without a doubt recommend Costco as the place to get HAs.
Will you be able to answer a phone call on an Android by tapping the hearing aid while wearing it without having to reach in your pocket/purse for the phone?
@@HearingClub Yes, I'm happy with my 9030s. I don't know that there would be enough benefit to upgrade to the 9050s just yet, but definitely when the auracast infrastructure gets built out.
I got my glasses at Costco and can’t say I was happy with the service. When I picked up my glasses, no one set them up for me, they just threw them at me and go…..will never get glasses there again. This is the reason why I am leery of getting the hearing aid there too.
i totally get the reluctance. And I'll tell you what, the people that work at costco are humans, some are cool, some aren't. I can't say you will have an amazing experience at the hearing aid center, you may or may not, it depends on the people there. What i CAN say is they have amazing hearing aids at an amazing price and I always try to go above and beyond for my patients.
According to literature on them at Costco, they are ready to go with your Samsung. The Oticon Intents were not ready a while back. I am hoping that one of the reasons for the delay in releasing the Philips version was getting the Bluetooth working correctly.
Do you have a review and comparison of the Philips MNR T R Hearlink 9050 compared to the Jabra Enhance Pro 20 or higher grade more recent unit? The appeal of AI truly is favored by me, but ultimately function, user friendliness and hearing must prevail. Reviews tend to favor Jabra but I've not seen a head to head comparison. If there is an opportunity to upgrade the Hearlink AI during the period of warranty, that might tip the scale. Thank you.
I purchased the 9040 in July and then heard about the 9050. No problem, right? Just buy the new 9050 and return the 9040 for a full refund. Called them today to set up an appointment and was told I can bring back the 9040 for full refund but would have to go to a different Costco to but the 9050! That is not what I understood when I made the purchase of the 9040. Has policy changed? He was very rude about it as well.
Each store can pretty much do whatever they want. They, “we” go through a ton of work to fit a pair of hearing aids, 3-4 appointments, programming, then verifying the proper fit with REM verification, it’s a lot. When you return hearing aids, all that work goes down the drain. So I can see why the feel reluctant to wanna do all that again just for you to possibly do it again. You can return any hearing aid within the return window but yes, you may have to go to a different costco location.
being on disability i bought a used pair of ks10.0t only too have charging issues ,,, anyone have a left for a decent price or sugestions ? i'm not a costco member nor is their one near me so update is dead!
What state are you in?? I can't get these in NC.
Can't wait for your video about what Dr. Cliff says about Costco hearing department and products! I found Costco to be an excellent experience! Hope you do this video next!
Ya man, I can’t wait to make it.
I have never been disappointed with COSTCO
I used to watch Dr. Cliff's videos but I lost interest when his bias became apparent.
@@MrCanadave Will be interested in what you think … I am heading to Costco next we to replace my K10s, my first HA …
Nice! Well good luck sir, please let us know how it goes and how they work for you.
Cliff saying he doesn't recommend Costco anymore is why I stopped watching him and found you and I think you are honest and caring be cause you try to give us the best knowledge you have, Thank you.
Thank you so much Louise! I really appreciate that. Thank you!
@@HearingClub I heading to Costco to use the info I learned from your video and will look at the 9050. I am read to replace my K10s thanks again!
Cliff notes that
Costco does not have a test machine to see if the HA are working as they are supposed to and not defective.
@joegermain5839
Got Philips hearing aids from Costco 2 years ago for a good price and haven’t had any problems with them. Will go back when I need too.
I purchased Rexton bicore from Costco if Ft Myers Florida and I will say that my audiologist did a way better job than several adjustments by a private hearing Aid fitter for my previous hearing aids.
That’s great
I just got hearing aids from Costco here in Florida and they do follow best practices - at least here at my local Costco.
Yes they do! Thank you for taking the time to reinforce the fact 😊
Placed my order yesterday. I’m excited that I just happened to get the latest. Thanks for all the info! 😊
my pleasure!
Nice! Keep the feedback coming, we all appreciate it.
Please let us know, I have nothing but trouble with all pixel and Motorola phones
It looks like you can switch programs from the phone app
you can change the modes using the app or... when you get a phone call, pressing the button will answer the call. If there is no incoming call, pressing the button will change volume or programs depending on how they are setup.
Just got my 9050s. So fare good. I hear a lot better than I do. I like I do not need a smart phone to work it. I know I still have time to try it out. I hope it all works out.
i hope so too and glad you are doing well!
I would probably my guess mid 2025 maybe, if they keep their usual schedule.
I ordered my 9050's today. I get them in one week.
Nice! Come back and update us on how everything goes.
Yup, I doubt Philips will ever do it, if you want more control, go with Jabra or rexton
What are these selling for in general, and how much at Costco? I can't find these online (for my local Costco in Raleigh, NC)
I appreciate Costco at least making an effort to bring more options to people to be able to afford hearing aids in the first place. Many are out of reach for many people. Thank you for all the information. I wish they would have some option to finance them at a reasonable rate. Credit card rates are just ridiculous!
Yes, I know, the cost of hearing aids is just out of control!
For the app should be fitting software.
I am going to be deciding on hearing aids soon and have been leaning towards the Rexton
get the rextons, they are amazing right now
Loved your 9050 presentation. Appreciate your knowledge. thank you.
Thank you for your video. It was mist enlightening. My question is, is the Philips 9050, or rather will it be available at Costcos in the UK.
I have been waiting for the new Phillips .Can’t wait till I hear ur thoughts!
I’ll do a full review once I start fitting a bunch I promise
I just got my Phillips 9050s yesterday and they work with Pixel 8 no problems. I'm a first time user so it's an adjustment.
It's all very helpful.
do the 9050 have a tinnitus masking feature?
My 6 month trial is up. I have the Jabra 10’s, can I upgrade to 20’s? I’ve had my 10’s for a year and I keep getting a cracking sound on and off. Is it true everyone should be retesting hearing and adjusting volume at least once a year?
You can upgrade to the 20’s but there is no buy back or trade in option so you would be paying the full cost. Question 2, I would come in every 2 years. If you you have a history of drastically changing hearing in short periods of time or maybe Ménière’s disease, then once a year is a good idea.
Any ETA on Philips next generation Custom In-the-Ear hearing aids?
I jst got the Rexton Reach 5 days ago and disapointed with them .I have had the KS-9 for 5 years and can hear better with them. I have a profoung hearing loss. Costco 2024 Reading: AS: 56% AD:26% au 74%. I have an appointment on deecmber 18 for a follow up- adjustment. Thinling of trying out the Phiips 9050. What are your thoughs on that?
I would need to see your audiogram. When you say "profound loss" im thinking you need high power BTE hearing aids.
@@HearingClub Yes that what I have BTE,. I cant seem to copy my audiogram on your site???
So in your cars driver seat, does the accelerometer assume to you are conversing with the passenger seat if you are frequently looking to the left?
Does the 9050 have tap control like the KS10? I use it frequently to answer/end phone calls and to pause music streaming . Also, is android phone calls hands free using the hearing aid's microphone? Thank you
no, they are entirely different. The 9050's handsfree only works on iphones
8:45 - you mixed Samsung phones in with Auracast? I didn't get the connection.
i was kind of joking when i said that but the reason is the latest samsung models allow you to connect to and broadcast an auracast stream or audio transmission.
@HearingClub ok. Gotcha.
You decide what brand you want.
When you say “aids” I thought oh no that’s awful
oh boy lol
sometimes they will make a recommendation depending on the fitter and some fitters will say, try them all and go with what sounds best for you.
Oticon More 1 = Philips 9030
Oticon Real 1 = Philips 9040
Oticon Intent 1 = Philips 9050
You have to understand, that oticon intent may be the 1,2 or 3.
Thx. They did offer me an appointment but I thought better of it. As you said it’s work to do this. I’m happy with the 9040’s so I’m good.
Does Philips 9050 come with disposal battery option? I am a frequent traveler, disposal works better rather than rechargeable.
No, that’s the one thing that kind of sucks, rechargeable only and I have no idea why they would do this
it comes with a battery pack in the charger itself that i believe will give you another day of power without needing AC power. and if the charger is USB connected, I believe you can power the charger with USB battery banks so in theory you can go days without AC power.
Would love to see a review of the Philips HearLink TV Adapter.
Yes, waiting to get mine. Wondering if I need any other cables.
it depends on your tv, it should come with a TOSlink or fiberoptic cable
I had a problem with Dr. Cliff too. I told him that most retired folks could not afford what he was selling as "Best Practices". Cliff answered back and said that he would put my comment "back in the trash, where it belongs." Money has taken over with him.
Are you serious? Do you have a screenshot of that?
@@HearingClub I'll try to get one...
What a lot of people are saying about is true he really is very greedy.
I watched what Cliff called best practices. Costco did everything he listed when I went in.
Wow that's crazy- talk about being disrespectful!
Ok thanks for sharing
my dad has ks-10 I’d like to upgrade them for him. would u do a review to compare the 3 latest, philips, rexton, and jabra? The biggest pain point I heard about is connecting to multiple apple devices (iphone, ipad, macbook) back and forth. which one works best with bluetooth multipoint? thank you! ❤
If he has an iPhone, they should all work very well. If he has an android, stick with the ks10.
@@HearingClub Thank you!
Just watched another video on these and they are the same as Oticon Intent and the other reviewer said they have issues including bluetooth issues etc. Do you have these and other issues with these?
I haven’t experienced any other issues than the normal Bluetooth issues that pretty much all hearing aids have.
I have 9030s 3 yrs old and what I need to know is if the 9050 materially enhance sound clarity or if they are only marginally better
id say marginally better
@@HearingClub I'm lucky. My Costco in San Diego has a front man. He's a whiz. I just show up and he fixes my connectivity on the spot.
WTF Costco!
Will the 9050 aid really have Auracast implemented? Jabra has auracast but not implemented in the Iphone app.
@@HearingClub THANK YOU 😊
I called our Costco.
Thanks
im not sure, the shape is slightly different i think.
I subbed. Thanks for your help. Is there a way to unlock programming? The 3 models at Costco are not programmable by my audiologist.
yes they are, the audiologist just doesn't want to or they cant find the software. They CAN be programmed anywhere as long as they have the software. i actually have a video on this explaining step by step how to do it.
Thanks ill look for the software and do I use a laptop? Tablet? Phone? I'm not tech savvy. I need to buy a laptop or tablet to do it
So I am about 5 weeks into a pair of 9040's from Costco.
@@ricjona1069 Yes, but what then are the options on the 9050's? Do you still have 6 months to adapt to them?
@@nobrien1 The return, is a return. You then purchase the new hearing aids and the clock starts over.
it will start a new 6 month trial for the new 9050's. They will honor the 6 month return window.
yes, you will still have a full 6 months with the 9050's
I am thinking of returning my Jabras because when I returned to the classroom last week, I found that the aids keep losing connection with the app. I rely on the programs to make classroom noise manageable. Do you think the Phillips would have better reliability on this front? ( I have an iPhone )
Absolutely not, the Philips have the least amount of customization with the microphones. There are a couple of noise programs and you can try them but you have no real control of them. When this happens, shut the phone off and back on and that should really help. If they do this excessively, send them out for a warranty repair.
Just purchased my Phillips 9050 HA. Do you know if they will work with the same tv box I use with my 9040’s?
They should yes
Haven’t gotten my aids yet, I was thinking Jabra, now not sure any more. Do you believe Jabra to be the best even over the 9050? Please help me out here, thank you for your channel.
well, im going to be doing some comparison videos that i'm sure will help you out but I honestly think all 3 are great. My suggestion is to try them all and see what you do best with. Whatever you choose, you should be successful.
What do you prefer jabra or Philip. I had Philip first the phone calls were horrible reception. I need to get work hand free at work.
Having the same problem with jabra.
I like both but personally for me, I prefer Jabra.
I am really trying to decide if I want the new Infinio Sphere or if the 9050 or even Elehear would be good for me.
i would say try out the elehear first and see what you think, its definitely going to save you money IF they work for you and they sure can work. However, you will never get the same quality sound as a real prescription aid like the 9050's. But it's going to cost ya. See how you do with the elehear beyond and if it doesn't work out, return it and try the 9050's. You will definitely do well with the 9050's, they are the best you can get.

I have Phillips 9030 and android S22 (Samsung). Hand free option does not work in this combination.Which android phone supports hand free calling so that I can speak through Hearing Aids microphone. My plan is to buy 9050 very soon. I would like to buy either newer Samsung or Google phone. Thanks
I still have not got a single Samsung to work (hands free) so please update us if you find one that works
@@HearingClubIs there any android based phone that will give hand free functionality?
Thank you.
Yes, as soon as I can, I’ll update everyone
I am curious about the new Bluetooth technology as related to venues like cruise ships. Specifically, the range of the signal. If they run Auracast in the main theater, will the HA, headphones etc. pick up that audio stream in other entertainment venues, or even just outside the theater? I think it will be wonderful to have Auracast in every entertainment venue on a cruise ship, but only if there is a way to confine the signal to each venue. I don't want to hear bingo numbers during a trivia game in the adjacent room.
You won’t, each audio source should have its own auracast channel and you will select which one you want to tap into
@@HearingClub Thanks. That is good news.
Is it Costco policy to provide the hearing aid customer with a paper copy of their audiograph after a hearing test?
Absolutely
Your have to ask for a copy they won’t give it to you unless you ask
Your water bill must be high taking those 40 minute showers. Lol

LAST thingI want is a friggin hearing aid REMOTE, jeeze. Just a good app. Pls compare side by side the 9050 v the Reach (both costco).

I have United healthcare and they give you a whopping $500 per pair every two years, however, that's only at one of the small clinics.

@@HearingClub They will be soon.
How about the Sennheiser sonite R from Costco?
It’s basically another KS10, I still need to do some research on it but it’s just another sonova/phonak hearing aid. After all the problems we had with our last sonova hearing aid… I had to edit my reply so I don’t get in trouble for saying too much but ya, I’m not a fan, not yet anyway.
Would these work for Microsoft Teams calls?
Absolutely, if you have teams on your phone.
@@HearingClub I use teams from my laptop. Can hearing aids connect to a computer over Bluetooth?
The Philips are all ready for Auracast? The Oticon Intents are'nt yet. I have Jabra Pro 20's that I am going to return because the Bluetooth is so glitchy and sounds terrible on my S23. Your voice sounds like you are speaking through a tin can streaming through my Jabras. I hope Philips and Rexton have it figured out.
Good review, looking forward to a Rexton Reach review.
Yes! I’m still gathering user feedback and so far, they are looking really good
Will you be able to answer a phone call on an Android by tapping the hearing aid while wearing it without having to reach in your pocket/purse for the phone?

Odd. My Costco eyeglass department is superb. They fit them flawlessly with a cheerful attitude.
9050 or Jabra? Can't decide...
Yes, very tough decision lol
Can you do hands free with the Samsung Galaxy S24 phone and the philips 9050?
Thanks for you awesome channel!
According to literature on them at Costco, they are ready to go with your Samsung. The Oticon Intents were not ready a while back. I am hoping that one of the reasons for the delay in releasing the Philips version was getting the Bluetooth working correctly.
you are supposed to be able to but nobody has got it to work yet.
