I'll second that. Same with Roxy Music Guitarist Phil Manzanera, though thank heavens he is most definitely alive and well!
Both David and Bryan Ferry always liked to work with different musicians to create different ambience and dynamics within their various stages of writing.
      Mmm 🤔.
Sometimes the grass ain't always greener, eh?
      R. I. P Mick Ronson. Jamming up there in heaven with the most awesome band ever!!!

Deserve more? He was great and everyone knows it, Bowie was the star and that's how it was.MR didn't have a bad career but just couldn't put his head above the parapet and so wasn't as famous.Guy worked with Dylan, Mott the Hoople, Ian Hunter, Morrissey. Pretty good to be fair

Indeed u are. From the start of rock until 1995 there were so many historical shows by amazing bands people had the opportunity to see. Since then i cant really think of anybody at such a level. Rock n roll died in 95. I was aware enough to see and feel it fade out and followed up by the worsed years in music history. Endless number of boy bands and girl pop groups inserted their superficial synthetic filth over everything for so many dark cold years. Those years were so hard to get through alot of people didnt make it as their very being and will to live was just callously drained crushing their spirit and hope things one day things might go back to normal. Its been almost 20 yrs since it ended and we are still dealing with the aftermath and bodies. So many lost

As I was the youngest of the litter of six children I found myself exposed to many flavors music, of which I am eternally grateful for. By and by they've crafted a beautifully unique tapestry of sublime colors interwoven with Rich memories and curious textures. Truly a thing exquisitely rare but I don't keep it hidden, then again seems a waste that I should display it to those who lack vision and understanding. But alas the Lord has indeed blessed me with two young men, whom find great delight in the aforementioned article of beauty. The symbiotic cycle is nearing an end and then I shall rest. This features Cyrinda Fox ( girl with short platinum hair), a girl who happened to be just hanging out at same hotel Bowie was at, in LA, I believe. This was the start of her modeling career, Bowie liked her look & featured her in what was a prelude to stylized & highly produced music videos that launched MTV into existence. 1972/1973 was the infancy of this sort of media. Cyrinda instantly became famous among the rock 'n roll community, going on to a modeling career, minor acting career. What she's really known for is her personal life. After the Bowie cameo, she arrived in NYC to continue modeling & began dating, then marrying David Johansson, lead singer of glam rock band, The New York Dolls (he always reminded me of what the son of Mick Jagger & Steven Tyler would look like), speaking of Aerosmith, Cyrinda had a notoriously wild affair with Steven Tyler, of Aerosmith, who apparently was a friend of Johansson. Cyrinda left her New York Doll for Steven Tyler, as soon as divorce was granted, she & Steven Tyler walked this way into the wedding chapel & were married. They had one child, daughter, Mia Tyler..

I walked into the NAVEX in Naples, Italy in the summer of 1977. My ship, the USS Nimitz was anchored in Naples Bay. Someone put this song on a turntable and cranked the sound through some Bose 901 speakers. I just froze in my tracks, purchased the speakers and dragged them around for 2 days (could not get back to the ship - rough waters). I still have those speakers to this day, and David Bowie's "Jean Genie" as well!!!

This is what started my it for me. My Bowie obsession. Picture the scene, a 13 /14 year old middle class laddie, first disco, local village hall, scrubbed up to the nine and a halves in new clothes, bought just for the occasion. Place packed, DJ plays The Jean Genie. Everyone to a man and woman up on the dance floor, singing and stamping their feet to the riff. Never seen or heard anything like it, thought the wooden floor was going to crash. Instead it was Bowie crash landing into my world and I never looked back. That sense of community, the energy and power of youth has always stayed with me. Thank you Mr David Bowie, you changed my life.

Good observation about the Blues. They “borrowed” the Blues riff. That da da da da riff is Black Blues music. They really should pay at least symbolically a tithe 10 percent of the royalties from this song to a Blues foundation or organization that helps Blues musicians because that Riff is as old as time and is in many Blues songs!
