    Wow, have I got a story for you! I had a 21 premium. All wheel drive extended battery. Worked pretty good since the day I bought it July 2022. It had the recall on it so I sent it in and they tried to fix it with software one day I was tooling on the freeway Theythe dreaded "stop Car safely" came up on my screen. My only penalty was half power. I was still able to back it out of the driveway and drive it to the dealer. The car had the high-voltage junction box replace, but it still wasn't fixed. The car was there for no less than two months at the dealership. I had already started a buyback for the car and it was repurchased. I still don't know if they fixed the car. Last I heard they were waiting for battery modules. They did, however give me every penny I paid for the car, allowing me to purchase a brand new 2023 GT performance edition red. Really the car I wanted in the first place, but couldn't afford. I'm assuming since it's a 23 my issues are over with the HVBJB. Cheers.

      I hope your issues are over! Brave of you to purchase another of the same car after that experience. 23 GTPE has less HVBJB issues, but a percentage of them are still failing -- check the internet.

    Thank you for the clearest explanation I've seen on the HVJB problem, and how for some of us (including me and my made-in-December-2021 GTPE) it will always be a worry in the back of our minds. I've resolved to just drive normally and enjoy it, though I usually try to park it with the nose pointing out, just in case.

    Haven’t been in a Ford dealership that knew what good customer service was.

    Finally took delivery of my Premium 4X last night. It was built after the recall (August '22), so hopefully I've dodged this particular bullet. Sorry you had to go through this.

    Like a lot of pre-May built GTs, I'm just waiting for my HVBJB to fail. It really sucks that Ford is going with the strategy of letting customers suffer a failure rather than proactively scheduling replacements.

    I have a GT Performance that was started in late April and was not finished until just before Memorial Day so either it has this contactor or it has the new one. As I did not receive the car until August 10th I will assume they caught it in time and put a new one before the pack was installed. I did get a "service soon" light that only came on once at 4400 miles but I believe it was for the 5000 mile service. It has yet to return and I hope it does not as I have 400, 600 and a nearly 1100 mile trip coming between now and Junel. Not to mention a near 1900 mile one this coming December (2023).

    Thanks for the info! People are making gas cars for over 100 years and they still break down all the time, so even though I would be just as pissed if it happened to me, I can't be any more upset at this car, than a gas car.

    • @ev_kimchi

      Oh no doubt cars aren't perfect. However, here Ford clearly didn't test the vehicle adequately before releasing it -- the failure rate is quite high. Moreover, Ford is interested in its short-term bottom line by not replacing all of these defective parts, instead of standing behind early adopters, 70% of whom were new to the brand. Moreover, the Ford dealer network is generally horrible and stuck in the 1980s, and isn't equipped to replace these parts on an emergency basis, leaving many owners with their cars down for a long time. Finally, and not covered in this video, Ford's customer service isn't stellar, and it can be rough to get a rental car while your new $70,000 car is stuck somewhere for a month out of Ford and its dealers. So -- great car, but horrible customer experience that's not what I expect.

    • @chaachee
      @chaachee Рік тому +1

      @@ev_kimchi I think this is a major concern of rising car prices: luxury car prices from non-luxury brands. The dealer networks are used to dealing with "standard" car buyers with "standard" car buyer expectations, which usually translates to cost cutting where possible. Luxury brands, meanwhile, offer a much different experience.
      I fear this will only get worse as dealers get less return business from EV buyers due to less maintenance and service (assuming they can make a car that doesn't leave you stranded 🤨)

      @@ev_kimchi Yes, so far for me as well, its not the car that is bad, it is the people at the dealerships. They totally ruin the experience. They act like us not have to buy gas anymore is somehow will make them poorer...

      @ev_kimchi  Рік тому +1

      Sorry to hear this. You should go to the first link in my description. It's a thread on Mach-E Forums which gives you the procedure to use to make sure a case is open with Ford, and the part is ordered thru COPIS, which is the emergency system that will cause Ford to ship the part within 2-3 days to your dealer. If your dealer's parts department sucks (many seem to!) they will order it as a normal part, and it will take weeks to be delivered.

    Thanks for the info. My GTPE arrived in June 2022 (traded in a Premium RWD), but I have to confirm it was built in May. BTW, not sure what the first few minutes of the video was about, just saw a very long count-down.

      @@scoopmanHope not to ever see "Service Vehicle Soon". I have got 6000 miles on this one and have taken 4 round trips between Ventura and Palo Alto. No grape vine travel yet, just the 101 climb out of SLO going north and I usually punch it going up the hill. No recall notice yet. Unusually with flow of the traffic at 75-80. (Premium had 13000 when traded).

    • @ev_kimchi
      @ev_kimchi  Рік тому +1

      You want to make sure you have the recall software on your car, which adds a warning light if damage to the contactors is detected. If it is, this will let you drive it at reduced power until you get it fixed. With any long-distance driving, ensuring you have the warning light will make it less likely you are stranded on 101 somewhere.
