Those stoppers are there to stop hood flutter while driving and exist on many other Ford models. I don't recommend going all the way down as a standard fix, rather they need to be adjusted to mitigate latch gap when closed. If the hood is difficult to close (latch) then they are too high etc. I had to adjust mine as well to be able to easily close the hood without having to slam it down.

I tested this out today on the highway for two hours with wind and a little rain, and my hood does not move whatsoever that I could see.

Wow, this video was super useful 👍I always felt the frunk was too hard to close and the frunk to body line was looking a little crooked. Turns out both stoppers were all the way up and now after I put them down, it aligns and closes perfectly. It also came that way from factory for me and had no idea they were adjustable Thanks again 🙏

Excellent video, I plan on investigating my stoppers soon… the effort to close the frunk has dissuaded me from using my it much, but I am now hopeful lowering the stoppers will make using the frunk less off-putting (and extend its life).
The 7/8 tip was great also.
One thing I have done to make closing the frunk easier is have a folded bath towel (folded into 1/4th size, 2 half folds, for padding) in the car, and when I close it, I can put it over the hood center front tip area then sit down against it. Less strain on the hands. But only when clean to reduce scratching potential.
I really hope you can catch a break for awhile, and can finally just enjoy this normally pretty awesome vehicle. I kind of dreaded watching this, but it turned out much better than I thought. I hope you don’t end up needing to dispense with this vehicle because your Mach-E content is typically really quite excellent. Thanks!

You know you have a problem with your frunk latch design when owners describe having to sit on the hood to close it!

@@ev_kimchi Yep this is one area that could definitely be improved, preferably it would be automated open and close.

I'm just waiting to have a tech see the car. Thanks for the tip about cutting the striker; I'll see if maybe the service dept can order those parts so they're ready when the tech can get to it.

waoo, thanks for this video. I didn't know about the stoppers. I dont use my frunk as much as I want to because I dont want to slam the hood every time I close it. I will definitely give it a try and lower the stoppers and use your technique to close the hood, that way looks much better than slamming it with force.

Thanks for this video (sorry for your troubles that led to making it) and I just want to say that I've never opened the frunk yet! I checked the stoppers and they were different heights. I made them the same (lower) and then had a hard time closing the hood. Then I remembered your tip of where to place my hands and how to push down. Nice! It worked. I appreciate the tips!

I've had my Mach-E since April of 2021 and have never had a warranty repair. But, then again, I've only opened the Frunk a handful of times in the 2+ years.

What about the metal fillings that come out when cutting that? I had something similar and I had to press down very hard to close it (car cpr). Then I never tried to open it again....

Didn't notice metal shavings! But I would think about adjusting the rubber stoppers and perhaps having a dealer look at it before it fails

Man Andy, if you didn't have bad luck, you'd have no luck at all! Glad your car's fixed (again). Which dealer did you go to? Sunnyvale?

Yup, Sunnyvale. Hey Ford just wants to make sure I have good content for my videos!

Ford pass app to open/close windows, open close fronk and rear gate are only allowed if you have PAAK is set up basic ford app only allows unlock lock and remote start. I believe.

Did the dealership test the stoppers for fingerprints, to see who had actually misadjusted them?
Well, did you get to eat your take out?

What happened to the takeaway food? and is another way of opening the frunk, putting power to the connecters hidden behind the front fender?

    • @ev_kimchi
      @ev_kimchi  Рік тому

The food was cold. Good question -- the contacts in the bumper will cause the motor to actuate to open the hood, but unfortunately this is the part that was broken, so this wouldn't help.

Wait! You left out the most important part. Did the mechanics enjoy their free lunch after they got it opened?

FYI you want some tension on the hood latch from those bumpers so the hood doesn't rattle going over bumps.

I drove the car on highways for 2 hours today, and my hood isn't rattling or lifting at all

Most Ford cars don't have electronic hood latches. Stuff like this is why I don't want everything to be automatic.
