You are probably my favorite diy person on UA-cam, especially for Honda. Keep up the good work!
Good video. Short and to the point. Very much appreciated not having to listen to a lot of extra babble like so many UA-cam videos. Great instructions, I am going to change some of the things I did in my minivan to make it less obvious, didnt know the weatherstripping was removable! Thanks.
Your vid was perfect for me. I had no idea how to do this and you showed every step, without a bunch of extra talk, and now I know I can do it myself. You have a new subscriber.
thanks for your help full instructions
Nice instructions.. The only part that makes me nervous is the removal of the weather stripping.
Same here
I just did it on my 2015 Honda Civic. Popped back in no problem. Was NOT held on by any glue.
I was nervous about accidentally deploying the air bag. Weather stripping is easy to pull off and put back on. A pillar removal is a bit more difficult.
@@shaggydawg5419 why would you set off the airbag?
@@steve00alt70 Theres an airbag in the A-pillar
Thanks for the vid. I just installed my dash cam after watching and it worked like charm. Weather stripping was a piece of cake to remove and re-install
Very straight forwards. Thanks mate!
This is what I like, straight to the point, great Vid, But as some suggest, best to remove the part where the airbag sits, ALWAYS disconnect your car battery first, then install and re connect your car battery once fully finished, btw, you might have to change some settings in the car back to how you like it, like stereo, seat memory etc.
Great instructions, super easy. Thanks man!
Great video, I am trying to run wires for a dash light to a plug in my Honda civic. This helped a bunch!
Wow this was so much easier than I thought! Thank you!
Thanks for your comment!
Same here
Very well explained and demonstrated. And excellent video angles, close-ups and editing too, which gives me all the info I need to know and the confidence to do it myself. Thank you.
Good video, you should tell your friend to wire to the fuse box with a fuse tap. Cigarette socket can shake loose or there is always a possibility that someone could unknowingly unplug it. Sometimes the roof lining isn't rigid enough to keep the wire falling out so you can take a couple of small 3m cable management clips hook the wire and push under the lining. You don't have to stick them down, the extra bulk of the clips is sufficient to prevent the wire from slipping out. The other danger that should be mentioned is that the side pillar has an air bag and the wire may get caught in the bag when deployed, depends on how the bag moves. Couple of suggested ways.. Remove trim and install behind air bag or down the outside door weatherstripping.. Not sure about the top part of the pillar where you just pushed behind the trim, might have been worthwhile to pop trim out to see the location of the bag.
Very good info. Thanks for sharing!
Never heard of cigarette socket shaking loose.......Do you have an old mobile? And why would someone unknowingly unplug your cigarette socket? You will notice if it was....as there is no connection to the camera. There is a lock mechanism on the cigarette socket that comes with the camera. It goes ALL the way in. It doesn't sit loose. Do you have any knowledge about what you post or did you just copy some text`? About the A-pilar. I don't think the wire will be a problem.....what about all the other wires in the A pilar.....are they danger too? NO!
@@eriksrensen6369 the wires in a pillar are behind the airbag. stop acting like you know everything. dont follow the advice in this video it blocks the curtain airbag! and then you might have a liability issue. dashcam manufacturers have serious warnings about tucking wires near airbag panels.
@@vxlvo7274 Where in the video do you see the wire behind the airbag? It goes BESIDE THE AIRBAG ALL THE TIME- At no point the wire is behind anytrhing.. Are you watching the same video or do you need some education and/or glasses? I have installed 10 dashcams for my friends and family this way, and at no time they had have any problem with the airbag. So yes, I know more than you do
And please post which manufacturers have warned about doing this?....If you cross the airbag with a wire and block the airbag....you are right. But it doesn't.
@@eriksrensen6369 it doesnt go beside the airbag. it goes infront of it. the oem wires go behind the airbag, the method shown in this video wouldnt block the airbag from deploying, but it would be enough to throw the dash camera into a passengers/drivers face. are you dumb?
wow it is absolutely changed all my mind about how to install it. I thought we need to cut some wires going though rear mirror light , the video is absolutely great. Thank you for that
Thanks for you comment!
Most excellent presentation, very easy to follow. I am waiting for some warm weather and then I will install my dash cam into a 2016 Chrysler 300c.
great video, super easy to follow and a great result!
Thanks for taking the time to teach, you are appreciated!!! "W.W."
Thanks for your comment!
This was a life saver for trying to install my dash cam - thank you!
Life saver is your side curtain air bag, which he blocked by doing that.
Thanks for the guide it was helpful getting my dash cam cable hidden.
Super clear and straightforward video
Very informative, thank you. Also, I now know what the little pry bar that came with my camera is for.
Quick and easy. Good job.
Thank you, I have the 2014 Civic same color like the one you worked on. Spot on the wire installation.
I'm glad I saw this video.
Thanks

Very good & clear instructions.Thanks
Thanks for the video. It really helped. And straight to the point. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Thanks for your comment!
Perfect. Thank you so much.
Thank you so much for this vid, it really helped me do a neat job on my car's dashcam
fast and useful video! :)
Great video. Thank
Excellent Job!!!!
Thank you sir.i just installed mines, its very easy and also nice and clean.👍
Very useful and neat.
Perfect guide, thank you.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
"Next remove the weather stripping" O.O no ty...
Clean and easy thanks.
Can you post one of the rear camera installation??
Thank you so much!
This video explains all I need. I have the exact same model and the instructions are pretty clear. Great work!
Very helpful video. Thank you.
Excellent video. Thanks.
Excellent overview, thank you. Me, I put a tiny smear of silicone spray on the suction cup to make a permanent seal and mount.
Thanks for sharing you tip!!
Do you happen to have a picture or a brand and where to buy them silicone spray? I googled it and there is a lot of information but nothing about windshield/suction use. Thanks.
I have been researching dash cam installs. Did you cross over the airbag? Will it still deploy without the cable becoming a whip hazard and decapitating someone?
Excellent video.
I appreciate you time and sharing knowledge 🤝
Thanks for your comment!
Thank you very much.
Very informative video! Thank you
Thanks for your comment!
I did the same on my Accord but I go left (driver side) instead of right side. I removed the A pillar cover entirely to make sure the cable does not block the airbag. I zip tied it to the electrical wires inside the A pillar. Finally, I plug it in to cigarette light socket in the center box / arm rest.
Cheers mate
Very nice. Good job
Will the dash cam wire overlaps the airbag and cause it not to deploy in an accident?
For airbags you will have to take that trim panel off and thread the wire behind the airbag.
@@notmenotme614 easier said then done, when I do mine just going to keep wire to the very edge of the A pillar piece not pushing it down much at all so there is no interference of wire restricting the air bag from deploying in any accident therefore I won't need to remove the A pillar less work save time.
good technique. A rear camera wire install would be great but I get the idea.
Thanks for your comment. I have several videos on installing front/ rear dashcam. Here is one: ua-cam.com/video/XvhaZxD8B_k/v-deo.html
I'm a 62 yr old female and your tutorial was super helpful. Thank you.
Wunderbar
Should you worry about the cable going against the curtain airbag?
Yes.
If you cannot run the wire above the side airbags, route the wire beside the windshield
The a pillar has a 2 stage clip, you can pull it to loosen it enough to run wire, you need to pull harder to actually remove the a pillar cover. I used a 8in wire tie to run the wire behind the airbag. You don’t want to run the wire over it as it will interfere if the airbag ever deployed. Happy installing.
Totally. This guy's an idiot, if involved in an accident, that airbag will definitely encounter issues when deploying.
@@feistyfinn9365 Yes, it's the simplest solution. not too elegant, but I mean... its just a cable. Better to see some of it than fuck with a device that could save your life
nice and simple. i like it.
Thanks for your comment!
The whole point of concealing the wiring is to hardwire the camera. This can be easily done with a piggyback or add-a-fuse. The fuses will most likely be behind the dash end panel and easy to do. This will leave the power socket free as well.
Great video! do you have any video to install dash cam for Mazda 3 2014?
This procedure is similar for all cars, and I have installed these things in everything from Honda to Volvo.
As someone who knows next to nothing about cars... Would tugging the wire into the A-pillar interfere with the airbag inside of it? Seems a bit sketchy placing anything inside the same area as an airbag?
Tegnet don’t
A wire won’t stop the air bag
O jesus
There are wires in the A pillar....so 1 more wire will not do anything. And the wire goes along the side of the pillar not in the middle. So far i have not heard of any aibag on the a pillar having problem with one more wire. If that was the case we would have heard about it. There are no official warnings about injuries or death placing a wire in the a pillar. If you don't feel it's a good idea.....don't. But don't scare people with your nightmares......
This was helpful thanks. If you use tools, it's good to mention the mfg. and model in case people want to pick one up. I'm sure car manufacturers are offering these as part of a package and having them built into the rearview mirror, but I hope they will put at least one power port into the mirror so that people can more easily hook up their own cams. Am I being too optimistic there? ;-)
Thanks for your comment. I have added pry tools you can buy in the description. As for manufacturer adding aux power port by the mirror, not going to happen anytime soon (never). If it serves a purpose for OEM add on, they might do it, but they are not going to spend money to support aftermarket stuff.
Wow...installation made easy...removing the weather stripping...cant do that...too nervous....
What about extreme heat in the summer. Could it cause any damage to the camera? Thanks,
That depends on which dashcam you install. The one shown is installed in hit Georgia weather and works fine.
How to the wires hide the wires in a 2016 pathfinder?
Hi... just started watching the video... Noticed your watch... looks really nice... what brand and model is it?
loganx77 It’s the «subtly-look-at-my-shiny-metallic-bracelet-that-is-also-a-timekeeper» watch brand.
It's a Casio Edifice BT solar watch. I did a review here ua-cam.com/video/AAZxhVG7cJw/v-deo.html
Hi there. Good video.
Thanks.
Have you perhaps made a video to show how to install a rear cam?
I am assuming you mean a dashcam with rear camera. If so, then here is the video ua-cam.com/video/PyUUuE9r2Pc/v-deo.html
That's a nice clean install. Now I just need to pic a decent to good dash cam. Anyone got a suggestion?
This is a very good front/rear dashcam new for this year. Review video: ua-cam.com/video/6ngBfjd_oM4/v-deo.html
Awesome..
I have this thinkware cam that has a second cam for the back..any tips of how I can run that wire to the back...is it easy like this?
I have several videos install dual camera dashcam. Here is one to give you an idea. Install is later in the video. ua-cam.com/video/Ertwi5Ci4v0/v-deo.html
What time can you come over and install mine?
you obstruct the side curtain airbag. In case of deployment, airbag would tangle to the cable.
Darn my dash cam specifically says to not hide the cables like this if there are airbags in the side like this vehicle has.
are u blocking the airbag?
How long is the cable?
Long enough.....didn't you watch the vido?
You hide the wire beside a air bag is that safe.
I dont understand why a power socket is not standard behind the rear mirror on vehicles
Can I just run it over the B pillar and NOT tuck it in? Dont wanna mess with the airbags lol.
Everything was right except from the way you ran the wire down the "A PIllar". I can see in the video that you have a Side curtain A PIllar. So what will happen in the case when Airbag blows during an accident it will also blow up the wiring as it is obstructing the Airbag and the dashcam can hit someone's head and cause a serious injury or it can also prevent the airbag from opening fully. Instead you should open the A Pillar covering and run the wires along side the existing wires and not obstruct the Airbag
That wont happen as its nowhere near the airbag
Chuck it oot the windae and be done wi it
Great video, but why do you need 30 pens in your car? 2:28
Cause the owner of the car is a teacher....lol
Is the watch company sponsoring the video
MrRangerZr1 Who cares?
Whats wrong to care?
This makes your car less safe. The airbags deploy from that exact point in the trim. You are essentially putting a seat-belt around it's deployment. If you want to do it right the wire has to go underneath the airbag. I hope you update/edit this video, this could hurt someone.
You're blocking the airbag curtain with the wire.
DO A VIDEO ON HIDING THE REAR DASH CAM WIRES.
WITH FRONT & REAR CAMS WILL U HAVE 2 WIRES HANGING FROM DASH CAM?
I have done many videos on installing front / rear dashcam. Here is a recent one: ua-cam.com/video/1TMep8ArZRo/v-deo.html
Why not just hardwire it at this point?
This is to show people how to install a typical dashcam with cigarette lighter power plug. Here is the video for hardwire install ua-cam.com/video/Pj_5QqlrO9w/v-deo.html
That’s too much of a hassle. I want my wires to show what kind of shit are you showing?
