This is definitely one of the accessories I want to add to my brand new Si I just picked up on Friday. The salesman Trevor at Faulkner told me about you :)

The record quality is actualy really good!! Compared to that crappy mirror cam they used to sell on TV (I bought it) I think I would have been better off using a Camera off Wish to record on that one
This accessory is generally good but has a couple of drawbacks. The built-in battery life is short at best and replacing it is a bit tricky. Ambient light impacts the display quality. On a dark road with no ambient light, snow is what appears from the rear display. On a sunny day, the glare makes the display nearly useless even with a glare filter.
@JG I used a similar mirror/dashcam for about 3 years. The recording feature is ok, and the display is good in the early morning and dusk-night as long as the ambient light is adequate. The built-in battery went dead after 4 months. Finding quality accessories is almost impossible.
@@robbyroopan9339 It may be, but my car is not a daily driver, it is garaged all the time and still lost the battery after a few months. It is just questinable quality cheaply made.

Looks like a spin off of the Akaso DL12. Got the Akaso in 2020 I like it better than the one in the video. The Akaso is full rectangle as the one in the video tappers on both sides.
My car turns off the cigarette outlets when off, as I think most cars do today, so I will assume I should use a fuse block tap to get constant power to the unit, for the impact trip (night time bumps/theft attempt).
Great video. I love your attention to details. I gave you a like and will be watching more videos from you. Also, I purchased the dashcam based on your video.
Nice features, but I wish they’d make one with auto dimming at night for when a bro in truck with aftermarket HID headlights come up on your back bumper.

This way, I can use my dimmable factory mirror and use the camera mirror, but tilt it slightly so that the glare doesn’t reach my face when driving at night with people shining headlights behind me.
Awesome video, Miller. Clean install, and that unit looks pretty good, and probably fit just as good on the HR-V, since it uses lots of Civic parts, EXCEPT the power hookup, since the only 12volt outlet is in the right rear hatch area. I may have to get one of those dual or triple 12volt outlet accessories and hardwire it, maybe mount it under the dashboard, out of site, to the right of the center console. I think I still have one a friend gave my years ago, that I never used in my storage. Or might even be in one of my boxes or bags at here at home. The video didn't show it but I got the impression that, having stowed the excess wire down the A-pillar, you may have then routed it across the top of the pillar under the headlining to the mirror. My advice is to always route the wire down the door side of the A-pillar and then up again on the windshield side in order to avoid the curtain airbag, which on many cars has an anchor point half-way up the A-pillar. If you take the A-pillar trim off, you may find airbag behind the wire's route and its proximity may be reason enough for self-installers to also choose somewhere else to store any excess.
On the Type R the bag is stuffed up the a pillar. Pretty far. I've had it off before. Thats why I went that route. Would have preferred to put it all in the headliner tho.
@@717PROJECT Okay, that makes sense and thanks for the video about what looks like a good choice, especially if it's available here in the UK where conspicuous dashcams are targeted by thieves. Does the main camera attached to the mirror allow for angle adjustment to ensure the lens faces forward compensating for the natural angle of the mirror facing the driver?
I’ve installed two different models of this style dash cam mirror and I’ve found that you will suffer at night. The smallest amount of light is too much to give a usable view. The actual footage looks great but using it as a rear view mirror at night isn’t a good experience. Would be nice to see what the driver is going to see and not just footage.

Going to have a possible water leak from running the wire under the hatch seal. Coming from a Honda Associate that has made these repairs at the factory.
Wondering, usually have the mirror angled and tilted a bit. How it affects the recording angle, can I adjust the camera itself enough to see it straight?
I didn't hardwire it. It is plugged into the accessory. You need to find a fuse that isn't constant power if you hardwired it. That's where your issue is.

is it possible to show your driving speed in the recording?
I'm pretty sure. Will need to have the GPS plug in.
Going to have a possible water leak from running the wire under the hatch seal. Coming from a Honda Associate that has made these repairs at the factory.
No problem so far. Been in many, many heavy rain & snowstorms.
@@717PROJECT If it leaks it will just show up in your spare tire well. So it can go unnoticed if you haven't pulled your spare tire. Just a heads up.
@@tweekr21 for sure. Used to check leaks when I first started in the body shop years and years ago. A lot of corvettes...lol!
Good information 👍
Thank you 🙏 😊
My work van does not have a back window, is the camera waterproof?
I believe so
Are there any options for one that just records the front and inside the car
None record inside the car other than audio, at least that I know of. Just don't plug the back one in if you don't want to use it.
Pretty neat 👌
Thanks!
Wondering, usually have the mirror angled and tilted a bit. How it affects the recording angle, can I adjust the camera itself enough to see it straight?
Can u show how u wired the 11th gen. Assuming u hard wired it. Mine is constantly on causing it to overheat and kill the battery
I didn't hardwire it. It is plugged into the accessory. You need to find a fuse that isn't constant power if you hardwired it. That's where your issue is.
Awesome inform
Thank you 😊 🙏
What wax re you using for the windows? My 72 Blazer needs this.
I use Tech shine. Great stuff!
I have a 2020 Honda Ridgeline RTL-E ….. How or where would I mount the rear camera ???
I'm not sure. Let me think about that.
@@717PROJECT OKAY .... I'll wait for your reply. I have a power slide window in the back that I always use.
the foam tape is for rear camera
Yep
Love the Video play back right on the mirror...show the cop what happened..
Thank you 🙏
Question, did the rear camera work without you attaching it to the reverse light?
Yep
Awesome!
Is it possible to hide the light cable so it's just not hanging
