    Thanks for adding the text info! I have a question maybe you could help me with. In Germany the professionals in the online forums always recommend to epoxy any bare metal, then do the body work on the epoxy followed by another coat of epoxy to seal in the bondo/filler before using a high build primer for blocking. What do you think about this approach, compared what you demonstrate here. Thanks for the video, really enjoyed it!

      No problem. Thanks for watching! While there are a number of ways to treat bare metal I wouldn’t disagree with their teachings. However that process is not quite necessary. The Materials that we use today is a lot better than back in the days. The 2k high build primer is good enough for bare metal. And two different factors that can play a role in different types of treatment is while you are in Germany where it snows I’m in south Florida where it doesn’t. In conclusion tho I would have used an epoxy primer if the entire car was bare metal.

    Looking good Mario! Question, you are keeping the original color correct? Why prime all surfaces? Better substrate results and less color matching?

    • @mariopaintclass6091
      @mariopaintclass6091  Рік тому +1

      Thanks! I am keeping the original color. All panel surfaces had bad clear and paint. Which means primer was necessary.

    do you always use sealant and primer?Whether it is just some minor repair like spot repair or some deep scratches; all the way up to repairing and painting a damaged panel or in this car a whole vehicle?

    • @mariopaintclass6091
      @mariopaintclass6091  Рік тому +1

      I prime depending on how rough of a sand paper grit I use. Or where I do body work. And then I seal when I have new parts.

      okay so only you use sealer when you are using new parts/panels.
      The soft pad that you mentioned and used is an interface pad correct?
      Thank you!👍

    • @mariopaintclass6091
      @mariopaintclass6091  Рік тому

      @@btbd2785 I do use sealer sometimes to fill any imperfections that I missed with the primer such as visible sand scratches. Or if I’m trying to save on paint. Which means I would seal with a color closer to the color paint I’m spraying.

    Is there any clear coat left just before you spray primer (did you take it to the base coast) or is it just sanded?

    • @mariopaintclass6091
      @mariopaintclass6091  Рік тому +1

      All the way to base

    • @joshuaphelps322
      @joshuaphelps322 Рік тому

      Okay!
      Did you use sealer for a particular reason here? Just curious of if I should use it in my project or not… my starting paint was in better condition as I still had oem clear on all my panels. I sanded prematurely so some panels are to the base and some still have some clear.
