I used to work with a painter when I was a young man, he could fix a wrecked car an put a beautiful paint job on it .He didn't have a nice paint booth. Just an old metal building and we had just finished painting a car one day and someone came by and banged on the door. Dust just filtered down all over our pretty paint job. As far as taping a car up,I've done that too. Watching your videos brings back memories. Thanks Chad!!

Just know what the Bible says about truth.
It says know the truth and tell the truth and the
    truth shall set you free.
And I think that you Chad is a extremely
honest person and tells the truth in everything
    That you do.
And your work is some of the best work on
    You tube.
Or as good or better than the other car vehicle

Hi Chad, necromancing here. I heard your name mentioned in a less than favorable way, so I had to check you out 🤣🤣
First, people want to be told what they want to hear, not the truth. All reality shows are scripted, even the Automotive shows. Anyway, well done, seeing as you don't have a multimillion dollar facility, you contend with the reality of this, and as far as I am concerned, you are doing a great job. Don't worry about the haters, as the song says, "it's your thing, do what you want to do". Also I could actually see the color of the paint going to red in the cup, so I knew you would be OK, your video's will help a lot of DIYers. Oh and thanks for keeping it PG13, and not every third word a bomb.

I am older. I work and learn - pride that I do my best. Watching you for my first time, you bring my memories of my time prior to my now 17 surgeries (most big ones happened to my spine). But watching you reminded me of working hard on repairing and painting my mom's car so many years ago. Today I remember my mom's pride in her son and several body/painters complimenting me on a fantastic job well done under the conditions I faced. To you I complement you on the work you have done with the results you have achieved throughout your shop..... Fantastic to an older fellow who prides myself in doing the best job I was able and truthfully you do the same!!!

I'm amazed at all the different trades chad has, then he combines them all for a finished costum project. There are only a few of us that are that talented. He reminds me of myself when painting, always checking and very impatient for the final finished product. People have no idea how much work there is to get to the actual stage of painting. The easy part is the spraying. Great job Chad.

    • @thetriggerman954
      @thetriggerman954 Рік тому +3

The easy part is spraying? Yeah ok 👌🏼 painting an even film, even texture, no dry spots, no runs, while keeping overlap even, keeping paint to a desired and consistent peel throughout the entire job. All while not spraying to heavy to prevent solvent pop but also not to light. Then keeping in mind to give proper flash time so that the paint doesn't dieback on you. And while doing all of that still making sure to not get to much dirt into your paint. I could keep going but I think you get my drift. Mr. BODYMAN 😂😅

Friendly advice from a retired paint sprayer clean gun before spraying colour coats correct spraying technique start from the edge of the panel and work to the middle then go round and spray from the middle to the outside edge then across the front taking in all edges that way you have a continual wet edge try it confidence and practice oh and put all colour into one container stir well can't go wrong

Chad, I've been following you for a while and have great respect for what you do in your workshop. What I love is that you do all this without very expensive equipment. But sometimes I ask myself some questions about the tittles that you put in your videos. For example, Spraying with a very cheap paint gun without having orange peel. If your parts are sprayed in this video, you do not show that you do not have an orange peel. I certainly expected you to want to prove this, for example by putting a light on it or zooming in with the camera. We have not been able to see this at all.

I have no experience painting cars but I’ve got an ass of experience painting cabinets . Always used oil based products. I’ve found that if you have two separate containers of paint it’s best to “box” (mix) them together to assure color consistency. After boxing is the time to separate. I also use a product called Bloxygen to extend the shelf life and prevent skin over. It’s an inert gas that settles on top of the paint and pushes the air aside or if you use enough completely out of the can. If you have leftover paint from a job it’s great for long time storage.
I really enjoy your videos and someone else commented that they liked that there was no raucous music to drown the speaking, I concur.
One last comment. The worst part of spraying is the gun cleaning. I always tried to capture as much of the cleaner solvent as possible and let it “settle out” for a day or two and poured it into a container to be re-used as a gun cleaner again. After spraying used solvent through a few times I’d then switch to new for a couple of cleanings. Solvent costs more than gasoline so it deserves to be used as much as you can.

    Awesome instruction
Back in the 80s. We used to mist our paint room with water to keep the dust down prior to painting. It was difficult for a kid to understand "mist" vs "drench".

Just discovered Chad. One of a kind. (aren't we all?) I like the way he paints. Clean sweeps-perfect overlapping/ Gonna have to find some of his finished work. He is obviously an old school hot-rodder from the glory days automobiles.

I’m in the middle of my dodge truck right now..
My bed had holes in it from the outside too the inside, I could put my arm all the way through the side of my bed, 2003 Dodge Ram, so that’s enough said right there.. They don’t make them, like they used to..
But I bought new panels and I already have one side almost done.. This is the first time I ever did something like this.. I done bodywork before this, but never cutting anything out and welding new panels in.. So I’m looking things up all the time on how to do certain things, and I was super happy when I came across your videos.. I watched you on your tv show and I fell in love, with the car’s that you build.. So I hope your show is going to be back on again.. But I’m having problems with my welding, I don’t have a big welder or even a good name brand, maybe that’s part of my problem lol.. But my welds look like crap, I thought I was doing a good job, till I looked at it. I was using a 0.35 wire for welding, but the other night I was using it and doing other things as well, but I heard my welder making a strange noise and I couldn’t figure out what it was, till I looked at the end of my tip, I had the trigger sitting in a hole on a milk crate and somehow pushed it down and it fed all my wire out of it lol.. SMH 🤦‍♂️.. So I had to go buy more wire and I looked up what is better for welding panels on, a video I watched said to use .023 or 25, around that, they didn’t have anything like that where I bought it from, so I got.030 and it’s like a copper looking wire this time, because it said it worked well for panels, so I got it, but when I weld with it, it’s like I’m popping popcorn 🍿 way worse than the wire I was using, and it seems like it comes out slow, even if I keep adjusting the settings on it.. Do you know what I’m doing wrong or why it’s acting like that??
I’ll be really surprised if I even get a message back from you.. I see this video is about 8 months old already.. But I’m hoping that you still get notifications with this video and you take the time to read all of it lol..
Again I love your work and you being real and always saying the truth.. So I hope too hear back from you..
    Thank you

The problem is, it's gotten me in so much trouble in the past/next time will happen. The sad thing is, pretentious people hate the truth. Stay strong bro, good people can stand tall. This dude is likeable. I've been around body shops quite a bit, although I'm no pro. I'm an electrician, that's my profession. I do know enough that I can tell this cat is just really good at his job. He lets those judgmental keyboard warriors bother him too much. They're just more vocal, that's all. Don't sweat them, my guy. I appreciate the lessons, and that's the truth. 😄

It's up to you and her to be honest. I've been married to the same woman come Nov., it will be 40 years. It was hard in the beginning, but a person has to decide whether he or she is going to be honest to their selves. You or her has the chose to make the marriage work or not. I believe people forget that, that it really is up to him or her. We all have that chose. Thank you for what you bring to the table. Ronnie.
