New World First Impressions "Is It Worth Playing?"
• New World First Impres... - Ігри
just take what Runescape did for questing.. and honestly everything about OSRS.. and then add these visuals with this combat polished. BOOM. It’ll be grindy, rewarding, and there will be wayyyy more variety on things to do and places to go.
A mixture between WoW/Runescape/ESO would be literal perfection for a long lasting MMO. (ESO mainly for the quests because they all feel different).. (Runescape for the variety of skills and items and levelling).. and (WOW just for the immense size of world where factions actually matter and PVP is fun and rewarding)... that, and a good main story line like WoW to captivate you to get to endgame content.
You have enough influence to talk to the right people to make it happen. Do the world a favor. lol
I would agree very much based on the stuff i've seen so far.
Problem with the ESO Quests would be that those take talented people and time to write and implement.
And it seems like they have neither.
For a pure PvP sandbox, they clearly failed with every relevant aspect - and turning it into a theme park would require so much effort that they would need to start over with 50% of the game.
Adding the technical issues with all the desync makes it hard to justify it as a marketing tool to 'sell' their engine.
This.

as always, great info!
congratulations man , i cant imagine how much time you put on this review , that was the most complete review that every game shoud have , thank you
Great summary and impressions. Thanks! Now I feel like I've got a pretty good picture of the state of this game.
It came out like 3 days ago it's much better now.
@@dddesync what about now
Game looks beautiful but honestly that is where the praise stops. Lets hope all the feedback submitted nets some actual change.
Questing are ALL fetch quests and kill X amount of enemy, leveling is garbage and can get max level in less than a week, its classless system is broken and everyone will end up looking and playing the same (lack of specialisation armour/roles), combat is super casual and clunky that adds to the everyone playing the same, balancing is terrible, weapon selection is horrible, crafting looks like the only fun part, PvP is broken due to unbalancing and clunky combat, end game is non existent for PvE players, no mounts means walking simulator, AI is horrible sometimes especially bosses that reset randomly.
I'm most excited about the action combat. I couldn't care less about the graphics, I just wanna fire arrows like that.
@@querywizard wtf but the combat sucks tho?
@@0Sweetsugar0 I mean the only part that sucks is the stun locking and beserk
@@eebrohim7001 Cool essay bro but that doesn't build on what he says at all other than inane whining.
So basically: The game being delayed almost a year was the right call.
Probably needs to be pushed back even further.
that depends if they're gonna work on fixing these feedbacks during the delay.
Can I play the beta version somewhere?
@@chadlouk66 there was a preorder preview back in late August but it only lasted for a few days.
@@jamiehoekstra11677 Yep. I laughed my ass off when I heard they were going to release it right after dumping everything the game was, then they delayed it a year right before release, and all I could think was "only a year?" before I lost my shit again.
This game is just Cruicible all over again. Pretty graphics is literally all the game has going for it now, so they have a TON of work to do to get things interesting. The story, PvP, basic combat stuff, etc, are all pretty bad, though I guess not Crowfall/Camelot Unchained Bad.
Hey mate just wanted to say great review, I love how you call it as it is pointing out the negative and positive, and the slow-mo to show things. Great work, thank you.
Really enjoy how you edit your reviews! Thank you :-)
Peon nailed the CONS perfectly. Honestly agree with every single one of those.
Agreed so much potential but with very little end game and no reason to gear for it why play after level cap
Lack of a mount needed to be added to cons. So there, I'm adding it.
Undertow not every game needs it. I haven’t played new world yet so I don’t want to speak on it quite yet but I personally prefer games that don’t make huge vast zones with a whole lot of nothing in it and they just throw you a flying mount or w/e.
I’m sure some slow ground mounts wouldn’t be a big deal in new world but I can see why they just want you to walk.
I agree with his list, but I feel he missed the opportunity to touch on the subject of playing with your friends. My group of friends tried to play together, but we all spawned at different locations of the map. We tried to reroll and get lucky RNG to finally be able to spawn together, but we just got tired of recreating and played in our own spots. Eventually when we were all able to join the same faction, we hoped there would be more opportunities to work towards the same quests to actually cooperatively play with each other, but we were greeted with "PvP" missions that lack any type of actual PvP'ing. Not to mention, that these are RNG quests and we rarely ever had the same 6 quests as each other. I feel they need to make a big adjustment in this department.

19:49-20:00 Bad Faction Missions? Accept, Abandon, wait for quests to refresh.
20:07-20:52 More comments about how he enjoys the way the game world looks, which were interspersed a little bit throughout the video previously. A bit more resource farming.
20:52-21:08 No swimming. Pretty much no jumping, a janky Dark Souls leap.
21:09-21:20 Player collision and griefing.
21:23-21:52 More jank combat, more repetitive quests.

22:10-22:20 Copy & Pasted Assets For Towns.
22:29-23:00 Actual Boss Fight. A little jank and basic.
23:00-23:10 The quests, and pretty much therefore the game, do not feel rewarding.
23:10-23:33 Mob farming, player clusterfrick, performance, enemy aggro and player baiting.
23:33-23:55 The relief of being done with the kill enemies and loot chests quests. "That was the worst questline I've ever experienced in an MMORPG. The quest is worse now than it was in alpha."
23:55-27:49 Endgame PvP Combat Gamemode.
25:35-25:41, 26:40-26:50, 27:21-27:36 Jank combat.
27:05-27:21 Projectiles disappearing on contact, even against allies.
27:49- His own thoughts and summary after trying out the preview.
27:49-29:27 - Pros: Looks good, has scale, sounds good. Idea of combat good, execution bad. Exploring unique landmarks is nice, but there is no achievements or rewards for doing so. Crafting and Gathering is there for people who enjoy it, and it does its job. Leveling up different weapon types and their different movesets was perceived as neat. He thought the reputation system was cool. He thought the user interface was good.
29:27-34:11 - Cons: Combat clunky (jank combat, animation locks, ability cool downs, projectiles disappearing). Shallow weapon trees and choices. Very repetitive and boring quests (point A, point B, kill mobs, loot chests, back to point A, back to point B). Enemy variety very lacking. Copy & Pasting of all assets, enemies, buildings, etc. No Swimming. Character creation and cosmetics (and just weapon and armor variety, generally) are lacking, people tend to look alike. Sound Levels are weird. Player Collision, bad. Vaulting, Climbing, Jumping, bad. Quest UI, limited and bad. Endgame PvP Gamemode, not great. Factions? No consequence other than an icon. Normal PvP? No incentives, few consequences, easily avoided unless you stumble upon a clusterfrick all alone. Lack of content and/or endgame content.
34:11-35:20 - Overall: Looks good, cool world, has some promise, but it needs a lot of work. No challenge or incentive to do much grinding or crafting or anything due to lack of content and fun.
35:20-35:45 The End.
MVP
I seriously hope Amazon takes these notes into account, I want this game to succeed so badly. As of right now, I'm so demoralized as the game as a MMO seems so shallow and a RPG you can hardly call it such. It's like the saddest survival game with some pvp.
Me: when this coming out?
Game devs: spring
Me: when in spring?
Game devs: spring
now its august
try august
Games devs: after you finally go back to school and you no longer have free time
which spring
It doesnt matter. Cons list is endless. Combat system looks horrible. Watch a video of for example black desert online combat and compare it to this...
I really want to play this game, but there is a voice inside of me that says " You need to get real resources in the real world ". Dam voice of adult logic.
This is exactly how I feel every time I see a game that looks interesting.
SCREW THAT VOICE!!
so im not the only one
You're not alone. I get that voice literally everytime I find an interesting game. But it's also true. You cannot have an amazing in game and social life together.
Being an adult and not a streamer/youtuber makes it really hard to play MMOs.
I’m gonna hear him saying “Big damage” in my dreams
Not biggus dickus? 😅🤣😂
I miss, "Jumpayyyyyy!!!!" 😂
Great video and great points. The idea about getting rid of the factions and just letting everything be guild vs guild is very interesting and seems like it would make for a more enjoyable game since it would basically let players form their own factions with their own ideas instead of being shoehorned into one of three categories, which would be much more complex and interesting. Also, excellent point about the pvp. If people can just run away when they start losing, then what’s the point of even trying to pvp people.
"It gets boring very quicky" -- "kill mobs, loot crates, that's every mission"
So basically it's silkroad made pretty?

This mmo looks like it might actually be fun. Also, I am probably going to always call it Mythic Quest to my friends if I play it.
Just got done with playing the beta a few days ago, and it seems a lot of the issues mentioned in this video has been addressed. I think the de-sync where sometimes you can't hit the target is the only one that was a remaining issue and only happened a few times. I can also second the part where more types of quests would be good. I think the game has a lot of potential and hopefully it'll pan out when they release in September.
They've gotten a ton of feedback from this preview event so lets hope they use these extra 9 months to get everything fixed! Also if you put your weapon away people don't body block you anymore, you can walk right through them.
Well they already been banning feedback since alpha, anyone who compares the game to rebuild states or gives feedback with that in mind will be banned. and people who are giving feedback on current systems having issues are being ignored or banned. Even if they are well done constructive posts so yeah i hope that approach of devs also changes.
There probably isn't even enough time left between now and launch to get it all designed, approved, created, put in the game, tested AND balanced. Plus, they don't seem to have listened to much of the feedback provided over the last 2 years of alpha testing.
@@porcu12345 that's not true at all. Some things they have ignored that's true but they have 9 months to change it. Also I'm pretty sure Amazon said this beta is out dated compared to what they have now so again it has yet to be seen to what has been changed. Also you have to take into account there was a massive beta where the people who has bought it played and will leave feedback. So maybe before making a massive decision to change wait for your majority player base then implement it.
"it's just beta bro, they'll fix it by live!" a rationalization as old as time.
You can move through players when you sheath your weapon with X. Not many Players know this.
yep.
Not that hard to figure out. They don't want player collision outside of combat for obvious troll reasons and they want to have player collision when in combat stance also for obvious reasons. It's pretty funny how some professional game reviewers can't figure out small things like this.
TRON wtf is wrong with you lol
@@Drothen- We got an edgy boi here seeking attention...
@@emilfilipov169 cause it's stupid. He's obviously not in combat, so why does having your sword out matter? Have you ever played an RPG in your life? Since when does having a weapon out mean you must be in combat? Nor is it explained that just by having your weapon out, collision is enabled. It's pretty funny how braindead irrational players defend poor design decisions for no discernable reason.

Ah yes, so all thats left is to make a game out of tech demo. Indeed.
@@ShadowOfHistory-wn1xh If you think this is a tech demo, you must be out of your mind.

Having played Runescape/Osrs for so many years gives you a totally different definition of what QUESTING actually is.
RPGs without quests that feel like stories, are not
real role-playing games.
Imagine this game having lore quests that actually work towards progressing your character and gear in New World, just like in Runescape.. this game would be an absolute banger
questing on other games is basically the slayer skill on runescape.
Wait people don't space bar quests in osrs?

Hey Peon. Do you plan to do another video about how the game has progressed the last year up to the release of the game? I think a lot of what you experienced in your first impression has been fixed and deserves a review?
I just left that same comment before seeing yours. I'm genuinely curious if any of it has been fixed.
@@KingLucky556 The game, in my opinion, still feels very incomplete, especially when you compare it to other MMO's already out. Gamers: We want an enjoyable game, something that we'd actually find fun and spend time with some friends, but not too reliant on too much co-op, we still want to be able to have some alone time.
Developers: Very good graphics it is.
"not too much co-op"? Do players really want that in an MMO? I'm asking because if I wanted to play alone I would't play multiplayer games.
@@TheDukeCTL Now that we know what your preferences are, I guess we can cater specifically for your needs and not worry about the rest of the gamers who enjoys being able to play with both other players ,and do their own activities as well.

Graphics are important too.
@@TheDukeCTL co-op isn't the same as multiplayer, ya know....
@@TheDukeCTL I think it more stems from people not wanting to have to rely always to play in parties or groups to get everything done.
Sometimes players just want to hop on for an evening to play and not have to worry about finding parties or organizing a group together just to do basic things like quests, smaller dungeons, or grinding.
For bigger things like raids I can understand why a group would be necessary. Just that for smaller things, players don't want to feel gated or restricted by always needing a group.
Is that the actual game music during the epic pvp battle @24:55? Cause if so, it sounds dope af
Is this game similar to ESO where it's megaservers and instanced to allow-50-80 people per instance? Or closer to WoW where it's separate servers without instancing and phasing?

Wow, such a great, entertaining, and complete review! Thank you for that!! Loved the bit where the other player surprised you when you were on a supply run and when you the croc almost got ya! :D
So basically what I got from this is:
PvE is overall in a good position, while PvP could use a lot of work. The concepts of combat overall are really good, but it's hard to enjoy said combat concepts when you're spending most of the time running to get to the area or rubberbanding while in combat. There's a lack of diversity in both the character creation and the armor sets you can acquire. Game takes little time to complete, and there isn't much to do after completion.
Overall, looks good for a recent release, but could definitely use some tweaks and server improvements if it wants to retain its audience
The endgame content: "Desync wars"
The “quest line” for the corrupted staff truly felt like a fever nightmare. Extremely long, boring, repetitive, walking simulator, is this bugged?? do i have to be higher level to finish? holy shit its FINALLY OVER! I can now run around the map for hours trying to reach invasions in time for grind bc nothing else feels rewarding.
i mean the game is shit but why did u quest for that item lol? just farm faction tokens and buy it.

The BDO analogy was perfect. It's looks like such a beautiful immersive world - now we just need substantial and meaningful things to DO in it. There has to be some sort of aspirational gameplay or else the journey just feels pointless. I'm also skeptical that New World can turn into an MMO with depth and lasting power in 9 months. However, I've got my fingers crossed because I'd love to see it succeed.
Yeah I really hope they listen to the feedback from this beta, game has potential , but currently it's pretty bland.

Thanks for this review, because I can actually take some ideas from this video and put it on my mmo game that I'm making!

"de-sync"
Pros: The game looks nice.
Cons: The game is Bad.
Expected the same thing when I saw the graphics same as BDO (maybe its the same engine).
@@cryonim Amazon is making its own engine.
Who knows, maybe they'll be able to clean it up before launch
Why exactly is it bad tho? I did enjoy all the quests I did, I enjoyed the sieges, invasions, bosses and all the corruption portals and stuff, there is just not enough of quests in the whole game. I believe that they´ll make the game right to be honest..
@@caydern9140 its ok if you liked bdo's questing but not many actually like it .
For me, the UI and the style of communication was a huge turn off. And I am someone who like FFXIV's text based communication.
I truly believe, that by 2030... MMO two handed weapons will not just be magically floating on your back.
Yea instead you will run slower than others and run out of stamina faster.
hoping for VR MMOS by that time

@@venomdank965 Sliding locomotion MMO's? No thank you.
Didn't expect you to to be sponsored by Guardian Tales! I REALLY LOVE that game.
Wow dude thank you for the time you took to make that, I wish they stuck with more of their original vision of what the game would be, with resources that needed to be moved from town to town, open world pvp and player governments of the towns. From your video it looks like they completely abandoned all that, but it does look great, I'm not surprised you said it feels like they don't know what type of player they are gearing for, because halfway through production they changed their mind and tried to compromise, and in my opinion, pleased no one and hamstrung all the interesting concepts they were going for.
You can see the budget went to environments, which look nice. However, the world seems empty & there needs to be more NPCs & monsters. There should be lore & changes in aesthetics among areas. I wish it'd be like WoW: The Next Generation, with a beautiful world & rewarding grindiness of vanilla WoW + more modern combat. Action combat in a MMORPG must be implemented in a way that won't lock out everyone who's not a 14y/o boy with reflexes capable of 400 actions per minute
this game to me felt like an action mmo with a decent sprinkle of crafting. it didnt have any RPG elements in there and the skill tree feels bland. It needs a story to compel you into the game for the first 30-40 levels and to make the settlements worth fighting over with some sort of meaning that affects the world in some way. But feels like I was getting the same fetch quests at each town you get to. New world needs direction and a purpose as of right now it feels missing
scarlet, if you wanna play wow stay with wow. I hope this is nothing like that trash mmo "wow". Im glad its not. This is beta anyways, so im not sure why its to critical to be judged. Thats why they held off for another year to make sure they make zero mistakes. But as for wow, it needs to go honestly .
I hate WOW with a passion. My boss wont stop talking about It and Its driving me insane. The game Is 50 years old and we all need to let It burn.
Thats because this wasnt meant to be a question, NPC and mob killing MMO. It was a 3rd person EVE online style game that got scrapped. It was supposed to be about battling over forts with huge guilds. Now its being retofitted with a genric wow clone gameplay loop.
Cons: I ran out of room on my paper when trying to add more Cons:
Can you block with the shield? Is there auch thing as dodge or counter?
Thanks again man for an awesome overview! I'm sold! haha :)
2020 and equipment pieces still clipping through each other...
New world definitely has the best Artstyle for an MMO. Basically looks like Greedfall if it had way more money
they have zero actual variety tho
People wont keep playing just because of graphics, if the game isnt good. WoW is the most played, and it looks like crap.
@@thomasreed2427 yea but wow has more than 7 types of mobs and the towns arent all copy pasted
Never said it was going to be the best MMO ever nor does it have to be to have a good playerbase. They have work to do but it's by no means a bad game. They can make it great and it's most likely not even up to the developers but the actually bankrollers of the project. The developers probably would have made a great game if they were left to their own devices
@@ryanglacier30 yes i agree. Idk how much you played, but would you agree it needs more variety in Towns and Mobs atleast?
You are the go to guy when i need to find new mmo's. You are the most credible guy in youtube for me!

They could add pvp battle tournaments for the end game where you can join in as a group of 4-5 and battle againt other group (one group vs another, matchmaking kind of thing) ..the one who loses gets eliminated. The top remaining groups gets the goodies based on the final ranking.
I play old school RuneScape on mobile and am thinking of getting a laptop soon I really fancy trying this game how does it compare to old school grind wise like is it a long grind or not ?

just glad the desync is fixed live is gonna be fun thanks for the video loved the war
I guess they have hired some of the best environmental designers and some pretty inexperienced/uninspired game designers.
They didn't have much time because they did a 180 on the game about a year ago after years of development. It was a PvP focused game and they turned it into PvE... That's why the quests suck and there isn't any real endgame content. Oh and the combat is terrible. Another thing that sucks is everyone looks pretty much the exact same. I hope the game will be fun on release. Honestly it'll probably be more like 2 years from now
@@PineappleBaconPizza thats the thing though. they spent years developing it as a pvp game and the combat still sucks. if there was 1 thing you'd expect them to have gotten right after years making a pvp game i'd be the combat.
Another dodge roll action combat project with very little thinking about buffs/debuffs, and more about twitch reaction and gear. I worry Ashes of Creation will be slightly better but still suck combat wise. MMO's of old are dead.
@@tevlar If you are okay with older graphics, guild wars 1 may suit you. Its alt tab and no jumping, but you bring 8 skills, can pick from several hundreds, and if you want to can bring ai partners whose skills and armor/weps can be fully customised as well ( so potentially build teams around 8x8 = 64 skills).
@@erbz I havnt played ffxiv this expansion. But i know in the previous one, you had 2 buttons + a CD, doesn't sound any better in pvp.
You had rotations but when i played, they made 1 entire rotation into 1 button. So 2 button for 2 rotations and then a cooldown.
if the quests are mainly kill and search crates this is gonna be a boring as hell lvling experience
they are lol
@@user-lz9cs9jc8s if the game release like that its gonna be another bless game. Big hype, bigger fall
It looked really promissing tho but the more videos i watch the more boring it looks, guess im gonna stick to wow for now. Ashes of creation on the other hand looks like much deeper game.
They're not all like that at all, have you even done any exploring in this game, I can tell you there is a lot to do, if you're not sticking to the paths set by the game, go explore into woods, and off beaten tracks, you'll find a lot to interact with.
Seriously this seems like a downgrade of WoW's basic go X and kill Y quests ...... at least WoW might distract you with some humor in it's text or NPC actions.
It's nice to see how much the game has improved over the last year
This is exactly all I needed/wanted to know, all in depth. I gotta say, your review is awesome, you show all we need to see, from the best to the worst, you don't manage it, yet you also bring relevant possible adjustments that would ultimately enhance the game experience and possibly push the game's life to a World of Warcraft 'standard', maybe, if Amazon bothers to consider some ameliorations. I do like the looks, but as you mentioned, the diversity in many aspect of the game makes it seem quite generic and 'unremarkable' despite all the trouble they went through to make the open world look kewl for example.
I am still debating with myself if I really want to drain my lifetime in this game as I once did in so many RPGs before, I'm mostly being convinced by my friends and might be the sole reason that will keep me in this game for... maybe 3-4 weeks :!
But again, thank you for the review, it is tremendously helpful, I now have a much clearer idea of what is ahead of me. Good luck !

Best game review I’ve ever watched! Literally had my attention the entire length of the this video! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👏👏👏👏👋
I feel like Fables Planned MMO got scraped and made into this, the art style, the theme, it just kinda fits.
Not even remotely the same vibe.
Do another impressions of new world for the july beta man cause so many things you mentioned like shared weapon cooldowns have been changed.
Hey peon you are awesome on your review as always. I saw today this game for first time on twitch. One month before release. I would say the visuals are not that good imo. World is great but model textures and render lighting is not good looking. Just my opinion. Any thoughts?
