Last Epoch is an isometric indie ARPG that came to Steam Early Access on May 1st 2019, This game combines time travel, dungeon crawling and deep character build optons from multiple skill trees, If you're a fan of Path Of Exile or Diablo 3 then stick around because this game doesn't have a whole lot of recognition right now and it's still what I'd consider a bit of a hidden gem that might explode in popularity once it's out of early access.

Smashable furniture is an idea for an adult game.
I have to smash every table and barrel in every game in my steam library. I love in diablo 3 how it gives you a speed boost based on how many barrels you smash, its cool

Respeccing your character is extremely easy in this game and not gated at all. To respec your passives it costs a small amount of gold, to respec your skillpoints your minimum skill level goes up as your character level goes up, in addition the skills gain accelerated XP to catch up in levels very quickly.
You seem to be a veteran so I just gotta ask before I make a purchase; is the end game time based like rifts in d3? I'm not looking for anything stressful.
@@kindnessofwooedandwooer2494 There currently is no end game mode like that. Monoliths are basically Maps from POE and then there is Arena which is horde mode.
The devs are adding 3 more end game modes before release, we just don't know what they are yet.

i think most people who like the mmo content will be just fine with single player rpg content.

I love MMO's but MMO's have become stagnant, even slowly degrading, it's a sad reality on a genre I put most time gaming and I'm in my mid 30's.

And honestly the only thing "low" about gear is the values of the implicits. I mean if you get purple drops that are on low level items, the T6 or T7 roll can outweigh the weaker implicits easily. For instance, I have a hammer throw/smite void night using a low level sceptre that dropped with T7 spell damage. I popped void damage, chance to slow/frailty on it and my smite crits hit for about 20k.

Something that helps a lot with getting undesirable loot is the in game loot filter. It is a more recent addition, so there aren't any tips directing you to it.

This is the perfect balance between Poe and D3, he also stopped right before you get to choose you secondary passive tree. Also, the crafting in this game is chef's kiss

I was interested in Last Epoch and watch lots of videos from other content creators, but you were the first to really capture the enjoyment of a new player. The devs are big POE players which is automatically a good thing. Zizaran had a interview with one if i recall.
Just a small correction, items do change how your character looks but you need to find higher level base types.

Happy to see you cover this. I actually bought this game about a year ago instead of Wolcen because..well because Wolcen. It was good even back then but I put it down to let it develop further. I just picked it up again recently and it seems to be making good progress. Looking forward to this when it finally releases but even now it's looking pretty polished.

Last Epoch just got caught banning people in game and on the steam forums because they didnt like all the covid fear propaganda being spread in their in game global chat. Fk this game. One of the biggest red flags you could ever have in a game is when they start randomly muting people like this.

As someone who has played Path of Exile for over 10,000 hours, I recently picked up Last Epoch and I've been impressed with the game so far. For an indie product in beta the gameplay is extremely smooth and low medium or high settings the graphics look great. The game is definitely unfinished but it has a ton of potential and I'm greatly looking forward to seeing the developers continue to expand on the game.
It looks good, plays well, and has fun engaging and innovative systems.
To address your 2 complaints:
1) If you hit Shift + F you can bring up the "Loot Filter" which is a stable of ARPGs and used to show/hide items you want, because sometimes a low level base could be more useful to you than a high level one (a good example of this is silver rings) but if you don't want to see certain items you'd hide them on your filter.
2) It is fairly punishing early on but as you level up you gain "minimum specialization levels" up to 10, so when you completely respecialize a skill it will start at level 10, your skills will also gain exp faster up to level 20 when you respecialize later in the game so completely switching builds (assuming you have the gear) is fairly quick and easy at endgame.

I'm really glad you covered this game! I stumbled across it a couple months ago and bought it. In the span of about 2 weeks I finished the game like 4 times and did some endgame content too. I feel like it's one of the better ARPGs out right now and the development team really listens to player feedback and cares about their game. This review will likely help grow the game and I think this game genuinely deserves that. Thank you!

The low quality gear drops can all be upgraded to the highest gear level. Using the shards you pickup. You craft it and put the stats on the gear that you want

Grim Dawn is another really good action RPG, but it takes a while to get rolling. Once you get the skill system and unlock some fun abilities though, it's super great! The atmosphere is also pretty grim, as the name implies.
Grim Dawn is imo King of arpg,but he just do first impression and the excellency of Grim Dawn comes with a lot of time spent, GD is rather mediocre before you get class tree and gear synergies
GD is hands down best Arpg i ever played, even if it requires some time to kick off properly (good 20/30 levels before you can make really fun builds) BUT the story is actually good (for arpgs standard) and it's super easy to respec and try different builds
@@Necromorphicon I don't understand why people say GD is so good? I have it and could never bare the garbage character design and the boring story. I just finished the first act and said eff this, this is boring and a waste of time. Would love to understand the opinion why GD is better than for example PoE, Wolcen or even Sacred where I had no problem putting in over 50 hours. Maybe it really boils down to personal taste at this point since most ARPGs are more of the same really. Have to say Last Epoch doesn't look that appealing to me. Choppy animations, lack of character customization and the character looking out of place in contrast to the environment are a major turn off to me.

@@slapdisgaem6601 If you're comparing Wolcen to Grim Dawn, you don't even deserve an explanation, lmao. Grim Dawn has one of the best storytelling and lore in this genre, you just don't like it personally. I'll take a guess and say that you got turned off by the visuals alone, so you didn't really dive any deeper into the game, at least not deep enough to make a comparison to the games you've mentioned in terms of mechanics. One of the best character development systems and great itemization, allowing for a lot of possibilities, and combinations you can't really pull off in any other game in this genre (thanks to dual class system, devotions and free weapon choice).
Yes, it definitely boils down to personal taste, but GD has over 90% positive reviews and is considered one of the best ARPGs ever created, and a game like Wolcen has been at around 50%, and only recently got to around 60%, because the game crashes less, not because it's good mechanically, quite the opposite, people play it for visuals, because the mechanics (including endgame) are subpar.
Last Epoch will be on PoE's level though. I'm happy it finally gets the recognition it deserves from the ARPG community (content creators) instead of that dumpster fire called Wolcen, that no one wants to play anymore. Let's also not forget, that Last Epoch is a beta, so let's compare it to beta PoE instead of today's PoE that has been in development for like 10 years :)

It doesn't look bad but just very unrefined. The animations of Last Epoch look very choppy to me. There is no character customization and the character looks kinda off in contrast to the environment. I think I prefer WOLCEN which was the most recent ARPG that dropped. May look into Last Epoch when it is more refined.

@derp derpin idk bro the first 2 bosses T-Posed at me the whole fight (which is posted on my channel), I was able to dupe an unnecessary amount of gold through duping gems. On top of multiplayer not working at all seemed like a decent refund.

Last Epoch? Time traveling? My brain automatically plays the Epoch theme from Chrono Trigger.
The time tunnel is pretty much exactly the same, plus there is an 'End of Time' area with dude named Gaspard tells me this was heavily inspired by Chrono Trigger
The devs have confirmed they are very inspired by CT, even as much as looking favourably on people familiar with the game when hiring.

I recently picked up LE after trying to wait for it to come out of early access for years. I was pleased to spend 90 hours in the game as it stands today and am eager for the full release!

I was JUST thinking about buying this game. You tipped me over the finish line here.
The game becomes very centered around crafting your own stuff later on. It's not about an uber drop persay, it's about finding the drops with the affixs you want to have or break down to use later on. This becomes your driving focus. There is an ingame loot filter also to enable refine your loot search. That being said there are some nice unique item drops that can really change the direction of your builds.
Really glad this game is getting so much attention recently!! Fully deserved
