And her voice is not a studio production, she sings just like she does live, fantastic.
The lead singer (Linda Perry) is a prolific songwriter & music producer who has worked with some of the greats. She is also good friends with Dolly Parton & the 2 of them just released a new version of this song just about a month ago. You can find it on Dolly's official UA-cam channel. Linda plays guitar & Dolly sings. They tweaked the lyrics a little & Dolly puts her own touch on the song--but it's basically the same.
Linda Perry, has one of the most powerful voices in my opinion. She is a prolific songwriter, and a great vocalist. The 90's were so awesome!
I’m 67 and I love this song . Never played it for my daughter but I found it on her playlist ! So cool !
4 Non Blondes was an American rock band from San Francisco, led by writer singer Linda Perry, active from 1989 to 1994. Their only album, Bigger, Better, Faster, More!, spent 59 weeks on the Billboard 200 and sold 1.5 million copies between 1992 and 1994. They hit the charts in 1993 with the release of the album's second single, "What's Up?"
Linda Perry (vocals) is a Legend, not only for her singing she is a Stellar song writer, Shes written songs for Jewel, Britney Spears, Courtney Love, Gwen Stefani, Alicia Keys, Celine Dion, Pink, Melissa Etheridge and more! And shes Married to Sara Gilbert from TV show Roseanne and the Connors!
I have always loved this song! It makes me happy! Glad to see you enjoyed it. ☮️❤️😎
What a fantastic artist... She has a way of pulling one into and being empathetic to her struggle... Thats powerful!
What an awesome song. Definitely one of the greats of the 1990s, which had a lot of great music.
This song is nothing but FUN. Everything about it is too cool. Thanks again.
i was a rock vocalist in my distant past, and i fell in love with this song the first time i heard it. great reaction.
You just added another seriously cool band to your seriously cool Playlist. I'm happy to add this damn nice song to your JMBOY TV Reactions Folder on my desk top and memory sticks. #76
Obviously, from the comments many people love this song. For me it’s like nails on a chalkboard. That just shows that music is such a personal art. Whether it’s the listener, artist, record company, etc. Our ears, mind, and heart will tell us what we will love
Just a big FYI- This entire album is a complete gem. One of the finest blues-rock albums I have ever heard. There isn't a weak song on the whole brilliant thing.
One of my all-time favorite songs! Thanks once again, JM, for an amazing song choice and reaction! ✌💙✌
For some of us Gen-Xers, singing this song out loud is cathartic as we scream out to the universe of our memories.
The ladies of the Eighties and Nineties had something to say and they were assertive about their Feelz.
This isn’t necessarily a playlist song but it is a song I stop to fully listen to if I run across it (fogged in nostalgia).
*First All Female Rock Group formed in early 70's called "Fanny"*

I love this song, so fun to sing along while driving.
Fantastic song and great reaction.
4-21-2024.... I wanted to Spark Up my Pipe so.... This is the Perfect song for such a thing.... Smiles, Thanks again.
Thanks for your reaction. BTW, It's all women. First few times I heard this was on the radio (I saw no videos), I thought the lead singer was a dude. 🤣Then I bought the CD.
"What's Up?"
25 years and my life is still
Tryin' to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination
I realized quickly when I knew I should
That the world was made up of this brotherhood of man
For whatever that means
And so I cry sometimes when I'm lying in bed
Just to get it all out what's in my head
And I, I am feeling a little peculiar
And so I wake in the morning and I step outside
And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream from the top of my lungs
"What's going on?"
And I say, hey-ey-ey
Hey-ey-ey
I said "Hey, a-what's going on?"
And I say, hey-ey-ey
Hey-ey-ey
I said "Hey, a-what's going on?"
Ooh, ooh
Ooh
Ooh, uh huh
Ooh, ooh
Ooh
Ooh, uh huh
And I try
Oh my God, do I try
I try all the time
In this institution
And I pray
Oh my God, do I pray
I pray every single day
For revolution
And so I cry sometimes when I'm lying in bed
Just to get it all out, what's in my head
And I, I am feeling a little peculiar
And so I wake in the morning and I step outside
And I take a deep breath and I get real high
And I scream from the top of my lungs
"What's going on?"
And I say, hey-ey-ey
Hey-ey-ey
I said "Hey, what's going on?"
And I say, hey-ey-ey
Hey-ey-ey
I said "Hey, a-what's going on?"
And I say, hey-ey-ey
(Wake in the morning and step outside)
Hey-ey-ey
(Take a deep breath and I get real high)
(And I scream)
I said "Hey, a-what's going on?"
And I say, hey-ey-ey
(Wake in the morning and step outside)
Hey-ey, yeah yeah yeah
(Take a deep breath and I get real high)
(And I scream)
I said "Hey, a-what's going on?"
Ooh, ooh
Ooh
Ooh, uh huh
25 years and my life is still
Tryin' to get up that great big hill of hope
For a destination, mmm
"And I Get Real HIGH"... so do I.. about 3 or 4 times per day, for the past 57 years of happiness.
Happy Halloween JM. I'm going out with my son and grand kids and in the main street parade. Ill be in my wicked looking WIZARD outfit casting my spells on people with Black Sabbath - "The Wizard" playing.
'One hit wonders' Good song from the good '
ol' 90's
Linda Perry is an enshrinee in The Songwriters Hall of Fame
Oh, it would be beyond amazing if you would react to Bette Midler and Stay With Me Baby, vintage video!
Linda Perry is awesome ...just saying':)
It's Halloween... Do this one.... Cream - "Born Under A Bad Sign"
they were all women the woman on the right just had her hair in braids unlike the others.
linda perry co- wrote songs for and helped pink with her first 2 albums when her record company wanted her to be more r & b
❤
The first time I heard this I thought it was Axl Rose singing.
Check out the Cleverlys bluegrass version of this song it's very entertaining and funny!
A great trick or trick musical masterpiece.
Well JM, you had that look on your face again.... I just smile again.
Good reaction.
No that was scary.
CRANK IT UP!... Spark Up my Pipe for this one and hit the drums. Thanks.
Play thriving ivory (angles on the moon)
Check out PINK and maybe some Avril Lavigne 🤘❤️
This is a little embarrassing, but I always thought the singer was a guy with really good pipes like Geddy Lee, Geoff Tate, Robin Zander ish.
I had only heard them on radio, so I had no idea who they were.
It's better to know she's a hot broad.😍
The most reacted to band on UA-cam performs the most reacted to song on UA-cam. Nightwish is the band. The unmatched Valkyrie is Floor Jansen. The song is "Ghost Love Score" performed live in front of 82,000 fans. Professionally shot. This group has a huge following and it's possible that you will get more views on this song than any other. 😊 🤘 ua-cam.com/video/JYjIlHWBAVo/v-deo.htmlsi=vj6B3bu8cJ0y5B3j
Linda Perry is not only one of the greatest female vocalists of her era, despite that she actually didn't care much for fame, so she wrote more hits for other artists (she admired) than she did for herself.
If you haven't heard it, it's worth checking out her collab with Grace Slick called Knock Me Out. Peace.
