  • I've been waiting for a regular person to make logical smoothies with frozen fruit for months now. A simple UA-cam search always led me to the cutest buff 20-something people in their workout gear and good abs talking to me about kale and chia seeds.
And I like kale and chia seeds. And I like buff 20-somethings.
But this 42 year old busy mother of 2 needs logical, nourishing recipes my family will enjoy and I won't have to fuss too hard to make. Healthy smoothies are the key to transitioning your family away from breakfasts of pancakes, muffins, and cereal and on to fats that keep their blood sugar stable all day!
Here are the ingredients for the three we're making today and the links to the products I recommend. **Remember collagen, dairy free yogurt, dairy free milk, orange juice, and natural sweeteners can all be used in any of these recipes.
    1. Till lunch
    - 1 egg yolk* or the whole egg from a pastured egg ONLY
    - 1/2 c coconut water or unsweetened kefir
    - 1/2 c. whole milk yogurt (I love Fage 5%)
    - 1 scoop Thrive Market collagen thrv.me/VeE8xR
    - 1 cup frozen berries of your choice
    - 1 teaspoon raw honey thrv.me/VeE8xR
    2. Almond butter and banana
    - 2 cups frozen sliced bananas
    - 1/2 cup full fat yogurt
    - 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    - 2 tablespoons all-natural peanut butter
    - Kefir or coconut water to thin, maybe 1/2 cup or so
    - 1 teaspoon honey
    3. Immunity Booster
    - 1/2 cup full fat yogurt
    - 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
    - 1 cup packed spinach
    - 1/2 cup 100% orange juice
    - 1/2 teaspoon fresh ginger, peeled and grated
    - squeeze lemon
    - Vitamin c powder amzn.to/397Ykyz
    Vitamin C powder: amzn.to/397Ykyz
    Super Greens Drink: amzn.to/2YUgWjv
    Vitamix: amzn.to/3hD0dYB
    Thrive Market Collagen Powder: thrv.me/VeE8xR
    Thrive Market Raw Honey: thrv.me/VeE8xR

You are so REAL and so INFORMATIVE. I love your cheery attitude and awesome recipes. I’ve been making protein shakes for quite a while. Even though they have some healthy ingredients, I have learned SO MUCH from watching this. I’ll be changing my daily routine as soon as I get some of the basic ingredients. God bless you and prayers for your continued health recovery.

Just have to be mindful of their estrogenic properties and the fact that they are unsprouted can be depleting to minerals in the body but when used very occasionally and sparingly I think they are okay.

I use chia seeds a lot in my yogurt and smoothies. Maybe you should research them because they have amazing health benefits sprouted or not.

I love the wild blueberries too...when we lived in NC we'd make an annual trip in the fall to Craggy Gardens and up toward Mt. Mitchell and pick as many as we could...Harvesting the fruit was permitted...We'd go home and make pancakes with them for supper. It was so delicious when those berries would pop open in your mouth.. .regular blueberries pale in taste compared to wild blueberries which we call huckleberries. The annual trek became an event b/c sometimes friends would go too..we'd make a day of it, taking a picnic lunch. The wild blueberries freeze very nicely. What a treat they were.

Oh how wonderful! We grew blueberries all my life. Not wild ones of course but they are amazing compared to store bought. Wild have so many great health properties.

Loved this! Thank you for no chia seeds - neither The Hubs or I like them, and all the recipes we find seem to have them! Greatly appreciate you not having them!

Do you let the fruits thaw a little bit before blending? I heard that, over time, blending rock hard frozen fruits is bad for the blender and can void the warranty.

Not if you have a Vitamix....

I agree. I have some very high machinery and I still don’t put rock solid frozen foods in it. Even in my vitamix

    What blender model is that?

    • @FeastandFarmCooks
      @FeastandFarmCooks  Рік тому

It's a lower end Vitamix. I don't even know what the model is but they make some that are much better than mine now.

Walmart brand of plain Greek yogurt is half the price of Fage and their ingredients are 2% difference.

Oh good! I don't shop at Walmart but if they have a brand that's full fat (5%) and has the strains of probiotics listed on the label that's great!

Heathly ? Not! Greens missing and honey is sugar.

    • @FeastandFarmCooks
      @FeastandFarmCooks  4 місяці тому +2

Now now let's be fair. Greens have their place and there is a smoothie here with them. That said I don't eat a lot of raw greens because of how hard they are to digest. Cooked ones are great. And not all sugar is equal plus we aren't having a gallon and it's balanced with fat for slower absorption. Balance in all things.

The fat from the dairy acts as a stopper. The body won’t absorb all the nutrients from the smoothie. Use fat free or stay away from dairy when making smoothies
