My every day smoothie: Fill half of container with greens [usually spinach] and tamp down a little. Then add a cored apple, one peeled banana, 4-6 strawberries, 4-6 chunks of pineapple, and about a cup of frozen blueberries. Add store bought probiotic blueberry kefir for liquid. Mix. Drink. The amounts of fruit varies by what I have but I always use all of the fruits listed, with one of the fruits [usually blueberries], frozen. [I use a NutriBullet. If using a blender, put the fruit in first and top off with the greens.]
Your basic formula makes making smoothie so easy and delicious.
Dani, I love your videos. You are so organized and informative. Thanks!
As a dietitian, I must say, Dani I LOVE your videos. They inspire me to help my clients with easy-to-digest tips! Basic cooking skills are lost these days, so thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. X
Love to hear that! Thanks:)
As a thickner and nutrients I grind raw oats into flour and keep in a mason jar. I also use a coffee grinder to grind chia and flax seed into a flour texture and store in a mason jar in fridge. You can also use your over night oats in smoothie as well
Love this idea thank you.
This was by far the most useful video on smoothie making. Thank you!
Wow, thanks for the feedback! Glad it was helpful :)
I have been drinking juices and smoothies for years. You have given me a new spark! Thank you!
Hey Dani your channel is really inspiring me to change my nutritional habits. Straightforward videos, complete and clear information, keep up with the good work!
If you wanna sneak in protein sources in your smoothie, i recommend hemp seeds! They are a great source of plant protein.
You're awesome! I've been looking for a detailed video like this!
Thank you for the video. I've totally been putting the ingredients in the blender in the wrong order.... super helpful. My smoothie was much better today.
My son became a vegan awhile ago and just purchased a "super" blender and has started making his own smoothies. I sent him this video as it will be a great reference to help him produce some delicious drinks. It will also help me as I am his tester, He believes if I can drink it and not get sick it is a winner. I do hope he follows your tips and methods. :)
I love smoothies! This was an awesome video to show me how to switch up the way I normally make them. Thanks!
This video has given me so many great ideas, thanks Dani!

Lauren Conklin I

Awe, so happy you appreciate it!
Thank you so much for passing along theses valuable information. I will be eating/drinking more smoothies.
awesome! enjoy them:)
I love your videos Dani. My favourite smoothie combination in the morning is 1/4 of an avocado, a good handful of spinach , cucumber , chia and hemp seeds , some nice cold coconut milk or almond milk . This keeps me going almost all morning . I am going to have to get some Jay Robb whey protein . I didn't realize it was lactose free . When I need something just to cool me down , I just throw a frozen banana in my nutribullet along with some coconut milk , some cinnamon and blend it and it really tastes like I am drinking a milkshake . :)
Just went plant based 9 days ago so I'm still in the learning and recipe gathering stages. Thanks for breaking down smoothies like this.
A tablespoon or two of rolled oats in a smoothie adds a delicious, satisfying texture. The added whole grains help keep you full, too!
Love it!! Awesome tip:) Thanks for sharing!!
Papaya can use to thicken
I love making smoothies with milk, strawberries, peanut butter, and chocolate protein powder. It's like a PB&J smoothy! So good!
Thanks so much for this basic info. Just what I needed. I am a perfectionist and tend to think that I need to learn everything and get it just right. That leads to "analysis paralysis". I also want it to taste good!! Also love all the suggestions from other comments!
Lemon zest, lemon juice, orange zest, fresh oranges or orange juice for flavor variety, vanilla essence, cinnamon, all spice, cloves, honey, dates, raisins, hemp seeds, moringa powder coconut milk, frozen papaya, bee pollen, nutritional yeast, pumpkin seeds, vanilla essence, sun flower seeds, almonds, black seeds( anti inflammatory, very pungent, tiny amount or else you will ruin your smoothie) sesame seeds or tahini, flax seeds are some of the ingredients I add in different amounts and combinations. Thank you Dani for sharing your great smoothie ideas.
I use agave nectar as a sweetener in my smoothies. Taste great!
Thanks a lot Dani.
Though it's 9 yrs ago, this video is on time!
You have really encouraged me to get back to making and drinking smoothies!
Thanks a lot!
I love your channel...thank you. I take a couple of avocados...peel and put them in my small processor with a bit of fresh lemon juice...(to prevent browning) and process until smooth...then spoon dollops of creamed mixture onto parchment lined tray or cookie sheet and freeze. Place in zip lock bag or airtight container to pop into your smoothies whenever you wish. I enjoy the creaminess it lends to a smoothie better than banana. I am diabetic and watch the sweetness factor closely. The healthy fat is a great addition!
Dani! This is one of your bests!
You've change my way to drink smoothies, thanks a lot 😁✨❤️
Josue Andree Ramirez Hernandez love it
Tnx for sharing keep it up it looks delicious and tasty
This was super helpful! Thank you!
Inspired, I just had one made of -
Skim milk, Almond Dutch Chocolate Milk, an inch length of banana, an inch of avocado, strawberry, small handful of blueberries, baby kale leaves and baby spinach leaves.
I'll be doing this after gym workouts.
Greek yogurt I always put that in my smoothies to thicken it.hope this helped
I'll definitely try this one 👌
Amazing video! What a great, easy to remember formula for a quick meal. Thanks!

You’re great! Thank you! 👍
I just stumbled onto coconut yogurt (actual coconut made with probiotics). I was never into a green smoothie but once I tried it with the coconut yogurt and cinnamon, I'm never looking back! Add some flaxseeds and it's my fave.
Love your guidelines!!
:)
Thank you for sharing this!
:)
Very Original, and love the blooper section!
I just came across your UA-cam channel! I love your videos so much! You should be a teacher..you make everything so simple. I'm currently cooking garlic cloves thanks to the first video I ever watched! :) I use yogurt in my smoothies, flaxseeds,& spanich :)
I use greek yogurt, either plain or vanilla, for thickening and protein. Thank you for sharing and all the great information.
I love your videos! They look really professional. You definitely deserve more subscribers, I'm telling my friends!
thank you! yes… spread the word!
Other's may have mentioned it but you can add a teaspoon or 2 of chia seeds as a thickener. I use banana and add fat free plain greek yogurt and a tablespoon or 2 of hemp seeds for some extra body and nutrition. Some people add a small amount of agave syrup too as a natural sweetener. I stick with a single date.
for thickeners i find that greek yogurt works well! although i typically use bananas as well- so sweet and delicious!
This the helpful video I ever seen thank you so much.
:)
loving this
:)
Great smoothie guide ! I love it.

Dani you're always so much fun to watch and learn from! i had some fresh kiwi that i needed to use,, so added 1 whole gala apple,, 1 whole orange, 1T flax, almond milk and water, and viola, a delish smoothie! my fridge/freezer isnt working correctly, so can freeze anything but small bags of mango, b'berries that i'll add 2 smoothies! cant eat any dark green products, so try to use cucumbers, roman, and or avocado, and frozen bananas when i can! thx:): kelli
absolutely helpful video..thanks for sharing..you are wonderful :)
Awesome..,always trying to figure out what to put in my smoothies.
enjoy!
Thank you so much! This is really informative! You are amazing, Dani. I love watching your videos and feed my family healthy food :) I have one thing that always confuse me. I've always been told that only cutting veggies before you eat/cook, so the nutrition remain. But I've seen so many people prepare their greens/salad beforehand and store them in plastic bags or glass jars. Do we still get all the nutrition by doing so? What's your opinion and suggestion?
Thanks for the tips, I've been working-out a lot more often these past few months & I've been looking to add protein to my diet that's healthier then most now u have provided that than u
Oatmeal helps to thicken smoothies too! (:
It's a very good guide! Greek style, natural, full fat yogurt (low fat if you prefer; can be used as a thickener/liquid) and flax seeds (grind into flax meal in a processor and keep it in the freezer) are the only things I would add to this list. Yogurt will give you the added benefits of good bacteria, and flax seeds for all the good fats.
Hi Dani, thanks for the video! I'm def a smoothie lover. I always add chia seeds and flax seeds to my smoothie on top of some of the great things you mentioned in the video. The chia seeds really help to thicken up my drink.
Before I was introduced to chia seeds I used oats, that also gave me a really filling breakfast drink. I would soak the oats in the milk while I prepped all of the other ingredients then I would blend away.
Hope this helps :)
thank you so much it really helps!
Erica Montesano aweosme!
I just bought a mixer... Cannot wait to start making healthy smoothies 😀♥️ Do you know which ingredients would be best for my arthritis? Inflammation? Thanks for your help!! Love your channel!!!
Pretty formula chart Dani!
thanks!
I love your channel and you’ve got great presentation skills.
Frozen cubed avocado is another thing you can use to thicken the smoothie. Just in case fresh avocado is too expensive or not around. Frozen cubed avocado is easy to find next to frozen fruit at the store :)
Being new to smoothies I'm happy to say after watching this, I'm doing pretty good :) my favorite is, chilled black coffee with frozen raspberries homemade peanut butter cinnamon honey and protein powder. Taste like a peanut butter and jelly sandwich.
Wow, that sounds great! Thanks for sharing!!
I think that sounds good to me.
I just subscribed to your channel Dani!!! Great recipe on making smoothies. I will be making this soon. Thanks for sharing. :)
+AlisonNicoleToday Welcome AlisonNicole! So glad to have you here:) I hope you enjoy the smoothie!!
Mmmm😋...that looked GREAT! THANK YOU for the EXTRAS...tips to make a CLEANER rich Smoothie! I learn every time from your tips!😉👏
I do prepare the rolled oats then add a tablespoon too.🌸
Hi , thanks for a wonderful master receipe . I have a question can this be made n consumed in couple of hours 2 - 3 Hours?
What a WONDERFUL AND HELPFUL VIDEO! THANK YOU! I have never considered using frozen greens in a smoothie before, so I am super grateful for that tip.
As an option to thicken a smoothie, I put almond milk in a blender on high, then drizzle in a tablespoon or two of coconut oil. Thank you again for imparting such excellent information! Cheers!
sounds delicious - thanks for sharing!
Awesome! I've made thousands of fresh juices & smoothies and I still learned something. I wonder though if choosing 'frozen' vs. 'fresh' doesn't miss out on some healthy life energies (usually gained by 'raw' diets). Love ya!
Hey dani i have been using aloe vera juice as my liquid in my smoothies any thoughts on this? I only use about a cup because i find the flavor is really strong.
You are truly my new favorite "vlogger" ! Thank you soooo much for this and your other videos! My absolute favorite smoothie is my pineapple carrot spice smoothie...I use 1/2-3/4 cup almond milk (just eyeball it, depends on end result), 1/2 cup chobani plain nonfat greek yogurt (a good thickener in place of banana), 1/4 cup shredded carrots (or I just throw in a few sticks from my crudite), 1/2 cup frozen pineapple, a pinch of ground ginger, pinch of cinnamon (both spices to personal taste of course) and finish with a squeeze of honey for extra sweetener then blend. It's sooooooo yummy and tastes like a pineapple carrot cake! Try it out! :) Thanks again Dani! I've learned so much!
Awe, thank you, Ashley! And thank you for sharing that delicious recipe!! I will definitely give it a try :)
I like your positive and flexible approach to healthy eating. I've tried a few of your recipes and they always get rave reviews :)
Krista Crosby Thanks Krista! So glad to hear that.
thanks for the guide...do you have any other smoothie recipe to share?
I'd be interested to see you do a "what I ate in a day" video and your "formula" for what you eat in a day. I'm a new subscriber and I love your videos!
Ok, I will add those to the list.. And thanks for subscribing! :)
Love!!!!
This smoothie looks absolutely delicious. I'm a diabetic can I utilize all of these ingredients?
Thanks for the great video! Just a thought to share. I recently found a way to get some protein into my smoothies without using protein powder. Try adding tofu or black beans. They are good sources of protein but do not add much flavor, which makes them perfect to sneak in some protein.
Mmm..... Delicious Dani's thanks
Gifty Rocka You are very welcome!
Bananas avocado pineapple and mango is like heaven. Avocado adds a creamy dreamy texture.
ah! Pineapple… good tip:) Thanks for sharing:)
