Triplets. Start slow, then gradually speed up until you are tripletting as fast as you possibly can. Then jump up like you just scored a touchdown and hit a gong. You're welcome. :D

lol Pretty much EVERY rock drummer in the 70's - 90's. I dunno if it's weird for a drummer to hate drum solos, but I HAAAATE drum solos. Drums without musical accompaniment is just noise as far as I'm concerned. Audiences seem to like them, so I understand why they're done, but personally I have no use for them.
I started playing in the late 60's when I was 12. I never felt creative but can play along with almost anything very accurately. Never did a solo lol. This is going to help me try to get a creative feeling. Very good video!
you are such a gifted teacher and incredibly genuine thanks so much for opening my mind about the possibilities
this is absolutely great!
Yes! You've done it again. Non-glamours, but immensely helpful!
Thank You Sir for i learned a lot on how to play drums. I am a member of a local group here in our place playing on drums for how many years, but still my kind of drumming is not good, i feel always a beginner yes and that is true. Even those kids that i've meet they played on drums much better than me because they were learned it on a musical school and that is why i considered them comparing to myself that they were good in playing drums, whew. In my time way back then no internet yet, i just listen to the cartridges how to play drums using my ears to play it to and fro, hehe. But now i've found your channel and try to listen to you and watching your hands how to play it. I dont know on my age now if i can play it a little good hehe, but i learned some simple scales here Sir, thank you.. (Subscribed) "Island of Mindanao Here, Philippines" ❤❤❤
thank you, Stephen, for your videos! I am 36 and started drumming six months ago, fulfilling my long lasting dream to play drums...It is not that easy at any point I should say... you just cannot imagine how your videos are helping me! Drums are such an addictive thing ! :)
Keep it up! I am 37 and just started for 3 months~ We can do it!
thank you! wish you all the best in your drumming journey too!😀
I'll be 56 in a couple of days--just started drumming a couple of months ago--it's never too late!
You guys are an encouragement to me. I'm 31 and drumming is still a big dream for me, but until now I only play some cajon...
@@AMaupin2 wow, what an awesome encouragement! wish you all the best in this wonderful path...

Yes! 100% yes!!!
This is amazing, Stephen. Ty for the advice. I do say I’m an intermediate drummer and your tips will help improve my “drumming vocabulary” in solos, you could say it in that way. I appreciate it, I’ve been subbed to your channel for a while and I enjoy your content and learn from them too. Thank you 👍🏼🥁
Thanks . Some great ideas for improvement!
Great videao,excelente advices.Thanks Stephen.
Bellson is one of my favorite solos! Peart. Bonzo. Danny Carey.

Brother u r a great teach esp. your heavy attention to details and pitfalls.
Spectacular Video! Just what I needed. Thanks so much, sir! Oh, and those drums sound absolutely amazing, by the way. Are you using Ambassadors on them? :D

"...formula for Beginners" is a great video. However, Comma, it should be Noted that "Beginners" ENDS @12:30 and Intermediate & Advanced Begins @13:28.
🥁 As always, TY Stephen! 😎
no need for a comma after comma though
@@Suceni Made u Look! 😄😄
Ringo-The End
Jesus man 10 mins in just to finally get going?
Prett much any Neil Peart solo
Here's another good technique/strategy:
Playing jazz? Get a trumpet player with you and practice "trading 4's or 8's.
Playing Rock or country? same thing with a guitar player.
On a lighter note - Compliment for you - If we apply Anime/Cartoon filter on your face, it would change much. Your face is picture perfect 😂
All Steve Gadd solos
Do audiences really want a five minute drum solo?
Yes we do
Better than a five minute bass solo
The audience was crying at the end of 30 minutes because nobody wants to hear a 30 min drum solo
Some good stuff, but an awful lotta talking….
Good fundament for playing but indeed to much talk, anyway Stephen: good job
Despite growing up in the Ginger Baker, John Bonham era, I personally have never been a fan of drum solos. Generally speaking I’ve looked at drum solos as “filler” material or as just a chance for the drummer to show off. Most of the time the solos are much too long and unless everyone in the crowd is “stoned as a chicken” they just wish it was over. I tend to feel the same way about extended guitar solos.
Why can’t i see what you’re trying to tell us to down load ?????
?????
Why are your logos on the drum heads crooked ??? That would drive me crazy…
When you play well you’re only focusing on playing
My opinion only
Few things I enjoy less than watching long drum solos.
Drums minus music does nothing much for me.
Does talking too much mean its a good lesson..
Another video from the fake confidence, self help guru disguised as a drummer. It's all just fluff and stretching out wordage, for time ($), without really providing much. It just mostly air inside the proverbial bag
Nit, if you don't like, bug off.
Couldn’t disagree more. But it is non-glamorous.
talk less teach more. Respectfully.
