ITA and me too! Except I buy the cubes, and just chop up as needed lol. I'm a pretty good cook, and I think the flavor is great. Heck, even if I'm making homemade onion soup, I usually use a base of Knorr's for fuller flavor (both Beef or Veggie work great). I find some of the allegedly "better" bouillons have an overpowering flavor. I'd rather build mine up myself, regardless of the dish. The only thing I think is actually better are some of the boxed stocks, but I usually end up throwing most of them away, and I don't think they make that noticeable a difference!! With the cubes (or powder) you just make what you need!!

When we went camping my mom would take a couple boxes of Rice a Roni (6 people) and chicken thighs cut in thin strips. She’d start cooking the chicken in the skillet for a couple minutes to get some browning and fond before adding the pasta/rice to brown. When it’s good and brown she’d add the water and seasoning and cook til done. One of my favorite meals that she unfortunately usually kept as a camping meal.

Great idea, but ..... there's no pepper in Rice-A-Roni. 🤷🏻‍♀️
    I had a box, I checked.
Maybe add some turmeric for the "yellow"...its in Rice-A-Roni anyway.
I think I'd package in pint jars, single servings..& $1.25 tree (Dollar tree 😉) has these great little 1oz containers in the craft section that would be perfect for the spices.
That way everything is washable and reusable.
I like the orzo idea..."near east" rice mixes use it.

Farmed rice from delta regions in US (not California grown) and from certain countries has high arsenic. There is a lot of research on it, including as presented on YT. To reduce this arsenic from the rice by about 80%, from the package, wash it, cook it in a big pot of water like the traditional way of cooking pasta, until au gratin, and drain. Then season as desired. This removes the majority of the arsenic.

I managed to cook until retirement age without ever having rice-a-Ronni either served to me or cooked by me. I learned something new today. Thank you very much. I will incorporate this meal and also adapt for flavoured rice which is a favourite meal in this house. Making flavoured rice at home from pantry staples will be much more economical than even purchasing the remeasured packages on sale. Also I did not know that tomato bullion existed thus I will look for that product at a larger grocery store in my region. Every shopping trip requires vehicle travel and several hours which necessitates buying in bulk.

When is time to add it. One
Or two teaspoons. It is a lot lower in sodium and has a lot more flavor from real stock. Once you try it. You are sold. From adding.
It to roast and our soups. To putting it in some hot water when you are feeling ill. Winner winner........😊 Thank you for the rice a roni Recipe cause I do like Them.😊
