I have a close friend who lived abroad for years, then came back to India because he was homesick even after so many years. Now, here's the twist, after living in India for 2 years he realised that his life abroad was better and wants to go back. Moral of the story: insaan kahin khush nahi rehta, grass is always greener on the other side. So jahan ho khush raho, move kar rahe ho toh wahan khush rehne ki koshish karo. Baaki life is all about struggles. You'll struggle in India, you'll struggle abroad as well. Embrace it and change your mindset first. Life is not gonna be all hunky dory all the time🤝

Doesn’t matter what anyone says, but studying and living abroad has been the best part of my life. Working part-time is part of the process and teaches you so much. What a lot of students don’t realise is that part-time jobs teach you soft skills that are valued highly by many companies. And it also helps in getting full-time jobs, unbelievable?

If we can provide good hospitals, good connectivity with nearby city, uninterrupted electricity, good education... then maybe the pressure of population on cities may decrease.

I have studied in India but I have worked in couple of Gulf countries and now in Ireland. One important thing what you missed is the attitude of the youngsters. We had been driven in our society that do the work what you have studied so and so. I work as lead engineer and I interview student engineers who come for internship, graduate engineers, mid level and senior engineer as well. You can see these students start working when they are 15 and they never have a feeling that I need to do 'this' job only. Even if they are well educated they take breaks, do any jobs like bartender, mechanic, waiters and they are happy with it. But Indians never work until they finish graduation and depend on parents. Even parents don't allow them to work if they wanted to because of emotional and "what ppl will say' issues.Basically no life skills are there. This is the root cause for all depression and problems.
Dude, I did my BE from a very good college in India, worked a really high paying job for 3 and a half years and now I wanted to study psychology so I could transition to cognitive neuropsychology and get opportunities to leverage my skills from my other career. I came to the UK coz the path in India for the same was too long. I understand that India has extremely good colleges but the traditional way of providing education that a lot of time suppresses interdisciplinary development is a reason for some people if not everyone to move to another country.

When you earn hefty living abroad a year for your family and providing them every support to live their dreams providing them every facility is actually the purest bliss .
This is exactly what Dr. Amartya Sen, honourable Nobel Laureate in Economics had told about India. He spoke of the lack of primary education and the lack of quality education in formative years. While the no of colleges may be stupendous, it's important to understand that a building cannot stand on weak foundations or no foundations at all.
You and your honourable nobel laureate economist are wrong on so many ways. But let me not clutter you with all those facts at once and just mention one. Govt spends more money to educate poor students in govt schools than what CBSE school charges. So it's not like govt isn't prioritising improvement of govt schools.
@@AbhiPatel-pb9ppWhat does spending money have to do with quality of education? Quality doesn't come from throwing money. It comes from knowing what quality education is. Our government departments responsible for education are run by outdated uncles and aunties. They learnt some old-fashioned methods and can't see what's wrong with them. How will quality improve? A very good education can be given at a very low cost, but only when you know what a good education is.

Just telling my thoughts: If you're thinking about studying abroad, it's important to have a good reason for it. First, consider if your goals could be achieved in India instead. For many middle-class people, it's very difficult to afford studying abroad. From what I know, it can cost around 40-50 lakhs for a master's degree abroad, which is not feasible for most middle-class families. Before deciding to go abroad, think about whether your reasons for going can be met in India. Some people talk about the lifestyle abroad, but India also has modern cities that offer a similar lifestyle. Personally, I find joy in being connected to my Indian culture rather than living a modern life abroad. If you still want to study abroad, that's okay, but you need to plan carefully. Make sure you have proper guidance and knowledge about where you're going, where you'll live, and how much you'll spend. Consider if your education abroad will truly benefit your future. In short, it's important to have a clear understanding of everything before deciding to study abroad. Thank you.

I can speak to my own experiences in the United States. While incidents like the one mentioned do occur, it's crucial to understand that many students, myself included, have had positive experiences here. I've been in the US for five years now. Regarding crime, certain areas in the US have higher crime rates, and unfortunately, some Indian students may fall victim to it. It's essential to understand that they aren't necessarily targeted due to their nationality. The Indian students I know are doing well and have landed great jobs, and they're pretty content. This can be attributed to the effort we put into qualifying for reputable universities and being aware of the potential drawbacks of lower-tier institutions. When applying to the US universities, I really dug into the details. I looked at small details, like which state the university is in, where exactly it is in that state, the crime rate around, and the diversity of the people there, and what not. I actually turned down offers from three good universities because of higher crime rates and less diversity in the area. I ended up choosing one that matched my preferences better. Making impulsive decisions to leave the country without thoughtful consideration can lead to negative outcomes. Definitely I miss my country, no doubt about it. If I feel like I've gathered enough experience someday, I might just head back home.
Situation in US is not the same while you arrived. Lot of layoffs in US and people are migrating in record levels. Western countries cannot cater to everyone. They have their own people to take care of
Came to the US Aug 2001 as a student. Been reading a lot of comments about this topic. I feel being mentally prepared is more important. Life is good when you are young. After 50 your soul will long for India. Loneliness and depression hits you like a ton of bricks. Children who are born abroad will never relate to first generation parents who immigrated. The struggle is real. Wishing this young generation all the best. Things are a lot different and harder, no kindness…

It depends on your career choice though. If you’re going to move to a different country as a resident, you’d still have to clear the entrance exam for that country and probably start at an intern level. That’s how it works. Do what works for you, though.

Loved the video. A very balanced perspective that highlights almost everything that one needs to know about this topic. I especially agree with all the reasons you shared about why Indians feel the need to study abroad. Our education system needs an overhaul but for a country like India it's extremely complicated. I can't comment about other countries but Immigration in the US is extremely complex and I think it's by design. As far as finding a job is in US or Canada is concerned I will once again like to blame our education system. We're always taught to put our head down and work. We're taught that if you work hard enough, people will notice you. However, the western world requires you to sell yourself and your skills. And while Indians are probably extremely hardworking and smart, most of us just don't know how to articulate or speak well during interviews (this is also the reason why there's a growth in career coaches in US and Canada). That again, isn't our fault completely. Public speaking is not a part of our education system. We're never taught how to sell ourselves and our skills. And until we're able to fix that, this vicious cycle will continue.
I think it is important to focus on the type of students coming here too. Most Masters and Undergraduate students going abroad will face harsh situations and challenges, while PhD students deal with non-financial stress So it is important to distinguish.

@@jestinmathew4503 That too. But I am trying to make a distinction between the type of students going abroad. It is incorrect to club all students in the same bucket. For example, the largest immigration of PhD students in the US are from Bengal, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The largest in Masters is Andhra, Telangana and Punjab where you rarely see any Bengalis. So almost all the Indian Masters students go for industry jobs immediately. There just isn't enough jobs for int'l students considering such a high demand.

I follow subreddits in Canada and Indian students are being used as scapegoats so I think there will be laws regulating how many Indian students can enter Canada. There is also resentment growing among Canadians when Indian students use food banks because it is believed that you should have money to fund your life during your studies.

As a Ph.D. student in Canada, I can say that moving here for studies was worth it. I am from IIT, the premier most institute and doing a PhD even in IITs was a nightmare given the pay, the struggle to get data for research, the lack of collegiality between supervisors and students and what not! Life may not be as luxurious as someone imagine living in Canada would be like but the pay is good enough to have a decent life as a student.
*Stanford, but yes. Surprising he didn't talk about that and his decision to return to India. It's a part he doesn't talk about in his channel, is that because he wants to be more relatable to the average user?
The tough competition is the reason IITians are so valued. They are indeed very smart and hardworking people. Tough competition is the reason an Olympic gold medal is valued. There is nothing wrong with competition as long as it tests the skills that are required for excellence in the area. IITs definitely do justice to it.
Well done Mohak! I like the research you have done on this topic and the simplicity in the delivery of content. A very intelligent and informative video. Congratulations for being a brave beacon of light!! God bless you in all your endeavours. May you always shine the light of truth. Well done.

I was once like that I wanted to study abroad very desperately because I didn't see any scope here. But, I was wrong. It's all thanks to you for helping me get this perspective in life.
That is true but if you cannot earn enough to sustain this then how will you manage. I had worked in design field but with no saving and I don't spend a lot because the salary was so less. So you need to do something to take care of it
Another perspective: I actually took a job in Japan. Good money but I felt so claustrophobic living in their matchbox homes that I wraped up in a year and came back. Life there is excruciatingly boring. While i got an amazing package and ended up saving most of it, the scope of growth is non-existent cz nepotism is big there. People in high positions, even in a mod sized company, almost certainly have strings in the gvt. So these oldies don't leave their position. If you dare to qualify they'll simply try to spoil your life and get you out of their way. In japan young people's backs are broken cz they are pulling ALL the weight of institutions. Their work ethic however is commendable and that is something to retain.

Just telling my thoughts:
If you're thinking about studying abroad, it's important to have a good reason for it.
Thank you.
A nice way to put it forward. I've noticed a good chunk of people defending going abroad to study/settle also overlap with the same group of people involved in any sort of political outcry. It always seems like a convenient coverup for their ulterior motives.
They always seem to conciously ignore equally bad things happening in their ideal destinations. The crisis tories is going through in the UK? Ignored. The absolute state of those lunatics known as Republicans in the US? Ignored.

Which university did u end up applying?? And can you tell us further of the process and finance?

Partner as in consulting?
I believe in this too!
It depends on your career choice though. If you’re going to move to a different country as a resident, you’d still have to clear the entrance exam for that country and probably start at an intern level. That’s how it works. Do what works for you, though.

Such a great video! Very detailed and accurate analysis.
Most Masters and Undergraduate students going abroad will face harsh situations and challenges, while PhD students deal with non-financial stress
So it is important to distinguish.
This is why it's important that India becomes a developed country. For how long will Indians keep depending on other countries for better jobs and better standard of living. If India becomes a developed country, Indians will not have the need to migrate to other countries and live like 2nd class citizens.
Dollar/Euro conversion rate is biggest reason why people go abroad. @

Doing a PhD is not at all easy, I'm not even contesting that. I'm just saying it isn't a terrible financial decision like Masters and undergrad as an Indian student in the US. And just saying "Indian students" in the video doesn't do justice because there's more nuance to it

@@noisnecsa995 i live in the middle of the Appalachian mountains which is a huge factor in the way I’m treated. If I lived in New York or something it probably would be better 😅
Beautiful concept 📈, thank you for sharing....🙏
Being an international student i can feel every thing u said. But as a firm believer of destiny, we have to try make things happen wherever we are and dont get depressed. In order to reduce depression i would say to form more communities to discuss ones issues and get it resolved. Rest is all destiny.
I follow subreddits in Canada and Indian students are being used as scapegoats so I think there will be laws regulating how many Indian students can enter Canada. There is also resentment growing among Canadians when Indian students use food banks because it is believed that you should have money to fund your life during your studies.
Basically Canada doesn’t have the resources to accommodate the high number of immigrants Trudeau is letting in. Once resources are enough, people will be okay with immigration again.
do you mind sharing names of these sub reddits. PLEASSE

Mohak, you're one of those youtubers who's promotions I never skip.
Because I know if you are promoting, then it must be something useful and beneficial.
Not necessary, masterclass is started someone whose Father started lovely university. (they have their own business game)

As a Ph.D. student in Canada, I can say that moving here for studies was worth it.
Lol 99% students are not IIT passouts
You are creating fake hopes for many students with this comment 😂.
@@sankkham99.9% of students are not IIT
I'm sorry you do not represent most students, with a profile like that.
100% Agree. PhD student in USA. IIT Delhi grad.
I would've liked it if Mohak spoke about his personal experience as well, as he's a Harvard graduate
Agree with ya
Dude, he's been to Harvard. That should tell you everything that you need to know about his experience

Going aboard is good .My life is changed totally and moving aboard it was good decision of life .
Another great video! from Mohak. Thanks bro!!❤❤❤❤
Very simple and useful conclusion. Indians understand equations well 🙂
Being it SST and interacting with different creators and CXOs of different has truly made me optimistic about India. I was once like that I wanted to study abroad very desperately because I didn't see any scope here. But, I was wrong. It's all thanks to you for helping me get this perspective in life.
This video was much helpful and informative
thankyou sir ❤
maturity is when we all realise that,
family and your real home is the true love of your life.
No , that is subjective. Mohak also said at last that it depends
@@prasoonjoshi6738Nope it's not subjective. Rectify things that are incorrect at home.

A great message at the end, regarding individuality of people. Each person is different, everyone has their own way of life.
