    I know this video was made 6 years ago, but it helped me today! I'm determined to get another 20 years out of the Maytag but its very loud, squeaky wheel had us shopping for a new one. Have you seen the price of new ones?!! Turns out, they're not made as well as the "ole girl" so I replaced the rollers, idler pulley and belt (and did some cleaning while I was in there) and quiet as a church mouse now. I've never done this before and for those wondering, it's pretty easy. Be patient and follow the steps. Thanks!

    Steve. Very nice instructional video that makes it easy for anyone to follow if they are ONLY to replace the multi-rib belt. I'd like to point out one discrepancy for the viewers if they intend to replace the white, plastic tensioner roller, located right next to the motor. In your video this roller is installed backwards. Only one side of the roller is collard (shouldered). The shouldered side should face the rear of the dryer to prevent the belt from more easily slipping off. Your video clearly shows the shouldered side facing front. I found that in all other similar model videos and more importantly Maytag's parts schematic clearly shows the shouldered side facing the rear. You even have a side bar closeup video that shows the incorrect position. In my case, I didn't take note of it's position when I replaced mine so I did refer to your video. Each time after assembly, I rotated the tub a time or two to confirm position of the belt and within one half of a turn the belt would slip off. This occurred a 2nd time so I checked your video again. Then I checked other similar videos as well as Maytag's parts schematic to confirm the incorrect position in the video. Once I reversed its position it now stays in place and my dryer works well.

    My 30 year old maytag stopped spinng last weekend and found this video had almost the same model. Other than one stripped screw on the door retainer and a broken plastic retainer piece I was able to folllow the exact trick to get the new belt on and it works like new again. Thank you for the video!

    This was great & very helpful. I was able to follow your video on changing the belt as well as replace a worn out blower which was the cause of the grinding noise. While I was doing that I also serviced the rollers and the idler pulley. Unfortunately the belt from Amazon was the wrong size from a third party vendor. So I put the old belt back for now. Suggestion: Before disassembly take a photograph of the the belt around the idler pulley to make sure it snakes in the correct order. After struggling for a while to get it on the pulley I watched your video again and realized that the correct way was to mount the front bulkhead after the belt is on the pulley & not before. My admiration for you goes up 100% when I saw your do it all from the front sight unseen while your camera was filming from the back panel opening. You made it look that easy! Thank you again. I will be buying the belt directly from you when this old one breaks instead of through Amazon.

    I just replaced both roller wheels and shafts. I got the dryer back together and turned it on. It was very quiet. Too quiet. Then I heard a bang. Apparently I didn't get the belt installed correctly. It was a very old belt. Now I am studying this video to install the new belt that I just ordered online. This video offers a trick that I didn't know about, partially putting the drum in place in order to better route the belt around the pully and motor drive. I wish I had found this video earlier 🤪

    Thank you for this video. I removed and installed a new belt in Maytag dryer. Total time 1 hours including vacuuming entire inside of the dryer, as well as duct work around the dryer. This video may it easy. your expertise with your special attention areas was very helpful. (One of any hints: if the belt is on correctly tuning the drum will also turn the blower) You saved my Saturday.

    Thank You For Such A Great and Informative Video. I have a Maytag MED6000XW0 and this video was perfect help. I had many issues with lint too so I took everything off and took outside and cleaned them like new. I bought a full kit so all 4 rollers , Idler Pulley and Belt. Didn't want to take it all apart and not do it all at one time. 3 Hours from start to finish with a good hour of cleaning included. A pro can do this job in 30-45 minutes.
    Thank You For Your Belt Attaching Advice. It Came In handy.
    Sincerely, David, Folsom CA.

    Very easy to follow! I took mine apart to vacuum out 10 years of dust ball accumulation, not because of a bad belt. it was pretty loaded! but I did purchase a parts kit on Amazon just in case I found worn parts. I removed the drum to make it easier to vacuum including the dust buildup on the motor. Since I had the drum out I elected to change the belt. Both drum rollers were in good shape, so I took them off and cleaned them. I went so far as to unscrew the cover off the blower to clean out inside. So if you're replacing a belt or other parts, take the time to clean and vacuum!

    Your instructions were really a great help. I was trying to put one of the drum fins back on and of course the only way is to have access to the outside of the drum. I started going in from the back but quickly realized that was not going to work. Going in from the front was good however, after completing the job I realized that I really should have simply opened the top to gain access to the outside of the drum... next time! As it was, I had to put washers under the new screws and as Murphy would have it, my blind tightening caught the belt. When I hand rotated the drum , the belt popped off the idler, so I had to follow your instructions to reattach. Thanks!

    Thank you soooo much...\o/...just as you said, great concept on the belt, I did however get a flashlight in there after exposing the pulleys to see how it was done, and had no problem understanding how to get it on. Couple of hints: once you get the top loose, stick a small block up under the top, near the back to hold the top up a little so you don't have to fight the top - drum - and bulkhead all at once, my bulkhead went on so easy. Hint #2 : take note of the wires to the light, sensor, and door switch and write down where they go, so you can get them back exactly where they go. Hint #3 : check the roller wheels that they spin freely, you may need a drop of light machine oil to lubercate them, clean up any drips! This video saved me $$$, the belt cost $15.00, a service company would cost $100 or more...love it...got it done for $15. Happy drying...\o/....Thank you

    The basics were the same, but on my older dryer the hinge doesn't affect the front panel. The front panel is held on by two screws at the bottom, and two clips at the top. The instruction on mounting the belt was very good. I had some difficulty with the belt falling off the drum when i was trying to put the belt on the pulleys. I used some tape to temporarily hold the belt in place on top of the drum and that resolved the issue.

    The best method is to put the belt on the drum the correct position, put the drum in the correct position, reach underneath the drum with both hands and pull the belt onto the pulleys. You want the belt to taut on the pulleys or it will fall off when making big adjustments on the drum. Then make sure you rotate the drum in the correct direction to check the belt position (counter clockwise). Doing anything other than these steps very easily leads to the belt popping off before it's all together.

    At 6:48 and at least one other place he says that the rib side of the belt will face the drum. After wasting much time I discovered this is impossible.. Other sources show the rib side facing away from the drum but with the ribs fitting into the grooves on the motor pulley. This is possible and seems to work.

    • @rockinggator969
      @rockinggator969 Рік тому +1

      I have a 30-year-old Maytag and noticed the same thing. I noted the orientation of the belt when removing it, and it definitely had the ribs slotting into the motor pulley (which has grooves). This way the flat side of the belt is making contact with the drum and the ribs are facing out, not in toward the drum. Mine is model LDE7304ACE.

    Great video and very timely. I have the same dryer and one of the drum baffles is about ready to fall off.
    Should I be able to use your process and lift the top up and tighten the screws? Or is this a common problem and it will need to be replaced? Keep up the great videos!

    • @FixDotCom
      @FixDotCom  7 років тому +2

      You can access the baffles by just removing the front panel. Rotate the drum until the loose baffle is in the 5 o’clock position and then tighten the screws. If they won’t tighten, you will need to replace the baffle. These usually only come loose when drying sneakers or like items.

      For years I could hear a coin clanging around inside my Maytag Atlantis dryer. It sounded like it was flopping inside the drum but I could not find it. When I used the Fix It video to make a repair on the dryer. I pulled the drum, I heard the coin inside one of the baffles. When I unscrewed the baffle to look inside, I found a beat up dime and a 4 perfectly formed 3/4 inch lint balls.

    You didn’t show taking out the hooks that hold the top down, but showed putting them back on at 11:50.

    I would have probably liked it if I could see exactly what you're doing when it came to the motor and pully in relation too the belt.

    I don't think my has broken yet, but while drying clothes, it sure squeals a lot. I do believe belt will need replacing soon. Because it is squealing. Could it be the belt isn't in the groove is why it's noisy?

    I have the same question as Louis C. Can't it be done (more easily) from behind?

    I have this dryer but a different problem. It stoped working. Belt is still on. I can hear the timer ticking but the motor doesn't even come on to spin the drum. Any advise will help.

    Got my belt replaced, but now I can't get the front bulkhead to line up with the screw holes

    Where were the hook clips that hold the top down. Those are missing from this discussion.
