I’m a 28 year old female who lost her dad about 5 years ago. Father’s Day is coming up and this video helped so much instead of paying someone or buying a new dryer. Wish my dad was here to help, but I know he’d be proud of me doing this by myself. Thanks for all the help from a 90s baby who desperately needed this!

Thank you!! It has been about 20 years since I replaced the belt on my 45 year old Kenmore dryer and watching your video (I needed to refresh my elderly memory) made the job relatively easy. I am a 70+ year old woman who has had back surgery and if I can do this anyone can.
I'm 176 years old and after the civil war i bought my first electric dryer, now 162 years later I'm happy i was able to use my cellphone to purchase this belt from the convenience of my log cabin.
Great clear instructions. Perhaps the most important real world part of this video was showing the hideous multi year lint accumulation that has to be cleaned before doing the belt replacement. I was horrified how much lint crap had accumulated inside my drier that posed a real fire hazard that i had never appreciated. It took me several hours to clean out the body in addition to the ~20 minute actual belt replacement. I diligently always cleared my lint screen after each use, but the lint piles I found inside shocked me. Thank goodness my belt broke and forced me to clean out this fire hazard lint that had accumulated after years of use. All other videos I watched showed well dressed salesmen replacing the belt of a new drier with ultra clean insides. This real world video is the best and serves as a wake up call to alert everyone of the need for yearly drier inside lint cleaning.

Thank you so much!!! My husband is out of town for the next two weeks and our dryer belt broke. I have seven kids, tons of laundry, and no money for a repair guy or laundromat and this saved me!! Thank you!!

This worked! I have an 80 series from 1999 that came with out house that we purchased two years ago. A $9 belt from Amazon and we were back in business thanks to this video. Thank you!!!

You're my hero today! I'm a senior gal and figured I'd give it a try, didn't have anyone to help me, followed your tutorial and VOILA! ,my old school Kenmore dryer is back in action. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
I love it! I hate paying for things we can do ourselves. Great job showing the details once again. That dryer is one of the earlier ones that were meant to last. The expensive shit they make today is set up to fall in 5 years. Definitely worth trying to fix these things.
Yes for sure! They don’t make things like they used to. I hope this video helps people save money! These things are pretty pricey for how simple they are! Thanks for watching as always, Sharon!!
Super demonstration. Very clear. I was shocked at how much lint and dust my dryer had. It was filthy. I found just over $12 in coins, seven guitar picks, a key, and two finishing nails!
Just want to say thank you! I'm a mom of 5 whose slightly handy, but not enough to ever think to fix a dryer myself. I followed your video and installed the new belt, alone, in 15 minutes. I watched it a few days ago and you made me feel like this was something we could handle at home so I ordered a new belt from amazon. My husband disassembled it last night but was stuck at work today when the belt came. I vacuumed it all out.....made almost $5 😆....and followed you step by step. I enlisted my 8 year old to hold the drum while I put the front back on and boom its done! After a week of not having a dryer I didn't have one more minute to spare lol Thank you so much for saving us a ton of money and sparing my husband another job to handle when he got home 🤗
I'm retired and live by myself. Your video walked me through the process and was easy to follow and saved me a lot of money. I have a Kenmore and ordered the belt from Sears parts. Thank you for the help!
I was a crane operator at a scrap yard. A customer came in with a stake body truck full of washers, dryers and dishwashers. His 13 year old son was unloading the truck by himself. When I went to talk to the driver, his son rocked the last dryer off. When it hit the ground, change fell out. After he picked up the change and was getting ready to leave, I told him, he wasn’t done yet, but to wait a second. I got in the crane and took the dryer apart. When I got back to him, he was still getting change from the dryer. The next day, I asked the driver how much did I his son get. $18.
Thank you so much for making this video. I am a woman and took my gas/electric dryer apart got a new belt and got it back together. My dryer is over 26 years old. Hope it last another 26 years. I saved so much $$$ by doing it my self. Thanks again.
I almost never comment on videos, but I am so grateful to you that I had no choice but to let you know that you ROCK!!! You explained each step - even getting the front panel off and on! - so clearly that I was entirely confident that I could perform this repair myself. A half-hour after I got the belt, I was doing laundry again. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Yas..The Perfect How-To Video! My old Kenmore just broke on me and I know its the belt. Cause of your precise instructions I think I can fix it myself! I'm scared, but not as scared as how much it'll cost me to have someone else come fix it! Thank you so much..🙏🏼
Thanks for the great tutorial. “We did it!” We grunted, we groaned and laughed a lot, especial when my husband @ “70” tomorrow had to use a ladder to climb up over the washer to get behind the dryer to reconnect it, then used a pack of paper towels to climb back. We were so happy when the tub turned. 🎉🎈 🎵💜 M & D
I am 66 year old female watched your video. My dryer was a different model but you gave me the concept. I replaced my dryer belt. I fell so proud! .Thank you so much! Your awesome!
I have a Whirlpool dryer that other than being a gas dryer is nearly identical to your Kenmore. Your instructions were spot on and I had the dryer fixed and running in a couple of hours. A local shop even had the correct belt in stock so same day service! Thank you and great job!
That dryer, in particular, is a fabulous LONG LASTING dryer. In 22 years, first time for a belt to break, & around 12 years, had to replace the heating element. LOVE this dryer!
Thank you for this video! My dryer belt broke and my husband told me I could fix it… to understand… I can do laundry but I am as useless as they come fixing any kind of equipment or machines. It’s people like me who are especially grateful to those who take time to make videos like this!!
I love these videos. DIY is the way to go, if you can. Saves a lot of money. It's also satisfying knowing you can fix it yourself. Thank you for all of your DIY videos! 😀
It was going to cost $200 just for repair guy to come out! So said forget that! and just fixed my sons dryer myself with the help of my grandson it took me a little longer about 40 min trying to put the front panel back was the hardest! I had to have him help hold the other side., but the rest was easy!! I couldn’t have done it without your video it sure helped this 61 yr old nana! Thank you so much!!! Aloha from Kauai!
Mr Fixer, thanks very much for the informative video. I appreciate your input and guidance. My dryer (in a rental unit) must be 30+ years old, and after replacing the belt it's working like a champ again, good for another 30 years. Thanks!
Wow this guy is good in every way. And I'm so glad I have older washer & dryer like his, because they are so very basic and easy to fix (and then they run for another 30 years). Unlike ALL the new crap today. {Liked and Subscribed}
I gotta give you a huge shout out for this DYOR tutorial just saved me $700 bucks on a new dryer man thanks a million may God Bless you a hundred fold!
Awesome video; real simple breakdown of the mechanics and repair instructions. After waiting over a week for a handyman to fix the dryer in the house that I rent, I decided to order an $8 belt and repair it myself with the information from this video!
Best video I've seen on how to do this. You showed exactly how things are supposed to be without any guesswork from the viewer. Easy to follow. Thank you
I watch a lot of these how to videos, and this is hands down one of the most solid I’ve ever viewed. Made a slightly complicated job much simpler. Now sitting back drinking a beer while my clothes are drying. Thank you and nice work!
This video may be 3 yrs old, but you helped me help myself. I’m still waiting for the replacement belt to arrive, but the instructions are so easy to comprehend and follow along. As a divorced lady, I don’t have the help and rely on other peoples videos to help me to at least try to do it myself first before hiring out the work. Can’t wait to get the belt and finish the repair. You made it seem easy enough and thank you for all you do. My dryer only had .76¢ a few washers and not as much lint.
Your video was the best. I fixed my mom's dryer thanks to your very simple to understand and clear to see video. Repairman never showed up so I ordered the belt and attempted it myself. I am a woman with some mechanical ability when I set my mind to it. I so appreciate the self help you provided. Cost my time and $8.00. Also gave me a lot of confidence when successfully repaired by me. Thanks again. Look forward to view your other videos.
Earlier today I was able to finally get the belt and idler pulley set with the motor thanks to this! I couldn't figure out how to run the belt though, many thanks! This was my first time doing this, far better buying a belt vs buying a new machine.
Thank you for this amazing how-to!! Because of your easy to follow video, I was able to fix my own dryer for only the cost of the belt. Thank you so, so much!!!
Nicely done! Good information clearly presented in a manner that gives a do it yourselfer the confidence to give it a shot. Having the same model dryer was icing on the cake!
Today I successfully replaced the belt on my dryer and it's literally thanks to this video. Appreciate it so much. Cost me $21!!! Between the belt and getting a nut driver that I apparently never knew existed, my dryer was just like yours step by step...Perfect!
I haven't tried it yet, but I appreciate the unbelievably clear video showing how easy it might be. I'm hoping my worst problem will be doing the work in a very confined space. I've watched many how-to videos on various topics, but this has to be one of the best as far as having clear lighting and everything in focus. Thank you! I hope to add this to things-I-figured-out-how-to-do-on-my-own list shortly.
i know others have commented, but that shot you got installing the belt to the motor was well done. good lighting, room for hands to repair and a great instructional shot.
Hey Fixer! This was a great video for people trying to repair an older dryer. I looked at a bunch of videos before I came upon yours.I really like the way you went through the steps of figuring out how to open up the dryer and evaluating the problem. I also liked the way you showed how to thread the belt through the tensioner pulley for the belt configuration. Very informative video. Keep up the great work, my friend. Awesome video!!
I have virtually the same dryer as you, so your video couldn't have been any better, or come at a better time! Absolutely wonderful how you had great lighting and was able to show pretty much everything we would need to see. Thank you so much for your help.......and oh yeah, saving me a bundle!!
Your video saved me hundreds of dollars! My dryer is over 9 years old. I either would have paid a repairman over 200.00 to fix it or would have spent over 600.00 for a new one. I watched your video, opened the dryer, saw the belt had snapped, bought replacement belt off Amazon for 8 BUCKS and it's working again! THANK YOU!!! 😎
Yay!! I have essentially zero mechanical knowledge or skills but was so frustrated with my broken dryer ... This video explained exactly what to do. less than an hour of effort which included searching my messy house for tools and the dryer is up and running. Thank you!!❤️❤️
My husband followed your instructions. Our dryer's components were exactly the same--odd since the dryer in the video looked old. A piece of cording that was in the dryer somehow got fouled in the motor and stopped the motor from working. Really bizarre. Your disassembly / assembly instructions were spot on. Great video of the tensioner. Saved us a service call. Thank you!
This video just saved me so much money! My fiance was dead set on calling a repairman to fix this, but I convinced him we should at least try. Belt wasn’t even broken, the tension piece just popped off. Made my whole day being able to do this!!
Appreciate the vid, me and my lady just fixed ours. When I searched how to replace a dryer belt, yours was the 1st video to pop up and you did not disappoint. Our dryer looks similar to yours, and the only hard part imo, was getting the tension from the pulley to the motor. Once we got that and the front plate back on, she ran good as new!
Great video! I was going to go into the back. Saved me a lot of time trying to do it wrong. I watched four videos. This was the first video I watched and was the best.
Sorry, got click happy. Only two things missing here. One is to check the wheels and belt tensioner before you order parts. The other is to test run before you lock the top down. Other than that, A+
Mr. Fixer- After watching many other videos I found this video and after watching it a few times I was able to situate the tensioner around the small end of the motor and buttoned up the rest and my dryer has been running like a champ.
Hey, wanted to thankyou so much for your straight forward video on dryer belt replacement. I just now finished up installing my new dryer belt. It truly was an easy job, and I am truly greatful for your help!! Oh, and by the way, I have the same exact dryer, so it felt like the video was posted just for me!
Great DIY video! Just in time for my broken clothes dryer. I followed the instruction from this video and found the broken belt and fell-off pulley. I'll order the belt and are condifent that the broken dryer will be fixed. Thank you very much for posting this video, it saved me a ton of money!
Thank you so much for this! I was able to take my entire dryer apart and find the problem (the belt, as I suspected) in under 30 minutes including digging out my tools 😂. Your instructions are clear, concise and easy to understand! Maybe you can show us how to diagnose issues in chest freezers next 😭.
My Kenmore dryer seems to be even older than yours, but it's put together nearly the same and the motor still works fine. I spent $9 on a new belt and I followed your excellent step-by-step instructions. You gave me confidence to do it myself -- it was a lot easier to replace than I thought. Thanks a lot!
The video I wish I had found first! The point of view, sound quality, etc all so much better than what I first found - made it easy to understand and follow. I only wish I had found as much money as you in mine! 😂😂
Thanks! My dryer is a Kenmore, and over 20 years old, so I thought my tensioner would be similar… it wasn’t (no wheel.. just a half loop) but watching you fox yours helped me see the mechanics of it and I figured out how mine worked because I saw how yours did. Thanks for the tips. Honestly the way you balanced the drum with the bounty box was crucial to seeing how I could do it myself without having someone else hold it up( I used an old detergent bottle).
Dude. Our dryer broke and wife said we needed to call someone. Quote was $175, new dryer $600. With your video I spent $14 and it’s as good as new! Thank you so much! Liked and subscribed, hope that helps
$400 dollars or more saved!🤑 My inherited old ass dryer is a whirlpool but it looks EXACTLY like this one inside/out. Yesterday I noticed the clothes I put in were still not dry after 2 full cycles. that's when I realized the drum was not spinning. My first thought was ugh.... I gotta go to the laundrymat in the morning and finish the laundry and then gotta see how to scrounge up $400 to $600 for a new dryer. I have never done anything like this before. I watched this video... picked up a $14 dryer belt and a $3 ratchet from harbor freight. he even tells you in the video what size! I just finished the repair this morning and my clothes are drying as I type this. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Thank you for this video. I never thought I could do something like this, and thought I would have to buy a new dryer to replace this 20 year old model. But I gave it a try. You made it so easy. My tensioner didn't have a wheel, but it was so smooth I figured the belt just rubs along it smoothly. It did and all is good.
Very informative, good narrative, and gets to the point. He has very good camera work, where we can see actual work being done. Has very good tips for the everyday person. 👌
Thanks dude! Im a single mom and you def saved me time and money! Well...I hope...still gotta order belt and give it a try🤣 but thank you for taking your time to do this video, it is very much appreciated!!
Outstanding tutorial! Thank you for explaining everything in clear, concise, step by step instructions. I was intimidated by the idea of doing this myself, but your video made me feel like I wasn’t doing it alone.
My daughter and I just replaced my Roper dyer belt( 4-2-22) while watching your video going step by step. WE DID IT🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌Thank you for posting this very helpful!!!!
Thanks to you, I was able to get our dryer up and running! I watched your video as I was doing it so i could rewind as needed. I really can't believe it was that easy to fix. Thank you for sharing!!!
Great information! I have replaced my dryer belt two times in the last three years thanks to this video. Saved so much in repairmen charges.. Thank you!!!!
So grateful for clear how-to videos like this. It turns out our dryer is nearly 22 years old (had to look up the serial number to find a compatible belt). We hate to scrap an appliance just because one part fails. Thanks to this video, our old dryer can live on a little longer until we pull the trigger on a new heat pump model!
Thank you. You saved me about $250! Easy as pie to fix. My tensionor was a little different design, but the principle was the same. I had a friend hold up the drum, and that helped as I attached the belt to the motor. Flashlight comes in handy.
Thank you! I replaced my belt with the aid of your video! 8 bucks and my same 70 series was back up and running. Never done this before and this was great how to video.
Thank You i'm 60 years old and watch and helped my dad doing one of these but it's been a long time thank u for refreshing good memories your video was very understandable clear and it took me 20 minutes i've always been jack of all trades thank u again 🤩😁

It was definitely the top result for me 🎉
Same here. My dumbass would've removed that little wheel on the tensioner to put the belt on. 😏

I have a Whirlpool dryer that other than being a gas dryer is nearly identical to your Kenmore. Your instructions were spot on and I had the dryer fixed and running in a couple of hours. A local shop even had the correct belt in stock so same day service! Thank you and great job!
Your explanation is as valuable as the video. You are unusually gifted in anticipating what the viewer needs to know.
Yes! That is my goal, to help people save money and give them a little confidence to DIY. Thanks so much for your support, Peach!!
Thanks!
That is awesome to hear! Thank you for letting me know. Happy to help!
Thank you sooo much I have the same dryer I’m 63 years old and because of your video I replaced my belt all by myself you are a life saver😊
That is amazing to hear. Happy to help, Cheri!
Wow this guy is good in every way. And I'm so glad I have older washer & dryer like his, because they are so very basic and easy to fix (and then they run for another 30 years). Unlike ALL the new crap today.

Thank you
Glad it helped and thanks for watching! 😁
I watch a lot of these how to videos, and this is hands down one of the most solid I’ve ever viewed. Made a slightly complicated job much simpler. Now sitting back drinking a beer while my clothes are drying. Thank you and nice work!
You just gave this 30 year-old gal the confidence to tackle this job by herself! Thank you!!!!
I just fixed my dryer. .for $16. Thanks you did a great job. Period
Thank you for the thorough instructions! I was able to replace my dryer belt all on my own and that saved me so much.
Earlier today I was able to finally get the belt and idler pulley set with the motor thanks to this! I couldn't figure out how to run the belt though, many thanks! This was my first time doing this, far better buying a belt vs buying a new machine.
Glad the video helped!
Very calm and collected to the point. Thank you for sharing your knowledge on this. Looking forward to working on mine this week. Thank you again.
Keep these videos coming. Your helping me more than you know.
That is awesome to hear, Cheryl. I will keep making them if you keep watching!!
Thank you for motivating me to fix me dryer and saving me money
It just so happens that I have the EXACT same dryer. Very helpful!
Lol me too
Me too but I have a hunch like 50% of the dryers sold have a very similar design
Nice video, Fixer! That was so easy
Thanks, Dana! And thanks for checking it out!
i know others have commented, but that shot you got installing the belt to the motor was well done. good lighting, room for hands to repair and a great instructional shot.
Idk why I'm watching this my washer and dryer are in perfect condition
That's hilarious you've completely sidetracked me from fixing my dryer to comment this 😂
Awesome! I wish my washing machine was that easy to fix. 🤪
Haha yeah washing machines are a whole other animal! Thanks for checking out the video buddy! 👍
I have virtually the same dryer as you, so your video couldn't have been any better, or come at a better time! Absolutely wonderful how you had great lighting and was able to show pretty much everything we would need to see. Thank you so much for your help.......and oh yeah, saving me a bundle!!
Thanks for this tutorial!
And thank YOU for checking it out!
Awesome, glad the video could help you! 😀
That's awesome! Good to know, simple fix!
Thanks for checking it out, Auto Fix!
Yay!! I have essentially zero mechanical knowledge or skills but was so frustrated with my broken dryer ... This video explained exactly what to do. less than an hour of effort which included searching my messy house for tools and the dryer is up and running. Thank you!!❤️❤️
Hardest part was putting the front back on, that and dropping screws lol. Thanks
Thank you!
Glad the video could help!
YOU are AWESOME!
Could you come live with us 😉!
😁😂 Thanks for checking out the video, Melinda!
This video just saved me so much money! My fiance was dead set on calling a repairman to fix this, but I convinced him we should at least try. Belt wasn’t even broken, the tension piece just popped off. Made my whole day being able to do this!!
That is so great to hear! Happy the video could help you out!
I've never worked on dryers before, but ours broke & I decided to fix it. Thanks to you, we saved $400! Peace be with you, bro
Single 53 yr old mom going to fix my broken dryer belt! Thanks so much! Very concise and easy to understand!
Thank you Thank you Thank you from a 72 year old woman. I did it all by myself! So proud!
So informative!!! Thank you so much!! I did this with absolutely NO help from my husband and I feel like a badass because of you! Lol
Hey Tamara, this is awesome to hear! And thank you for watching 😄
You have no idea how helpful this was. Thank you very much. Great video man
This saved me from having to spend hundreds to buy a new one thank you thank you!! Your steps made it so easy to get it done!
Great video about belt replacement. It made the job rather easy and quick. My wife is a happy camper. Thanks again!
My daughter and I just replaced my Roper dyer belt( 4-2-22) while watching your video going step by step. WE DID IT🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌Thank you for posting this very helpful!!!!
Love the video! Great step by step instructions. I actually have the 80 series. Same part but I didnt find any change in mine. Thank you for the video
Thanks to you, I was able to get our dryer up and running! I watched your video as I was doing it so i could rewind as needed. I really can't believe it was that easy to fix. Thank you for sharing!!!
Glad it helped! 😃
Glad it could help!
