    Great video. Follow what this says exactly. I opened my pool twice the last 2 years and only thing I did differently was tapping the metal band on the filter with a rubber mallet repeatedly all around as I tightened the nut and then brought spring to near touching as recommended by Pentair. I was leaking water twice from filter gap when I didn’t follow these 2 simple steps. Make sure to clean and grease any rubber gaskets lightly as recommended in this video! That includes the drain plug at bottom of filter. That one always seems to leak on me if I don’t grease it. Again, thanks for a great video!

    Thanks for this video , just finished. You weren't kidding about putting the clamp back on, mine kept slipping off completely. One thing I would add to this video is when starting your jets your filter should already be open from earlier when you let the air out. @@domgarcia5705 Debris is getting to the filter some how. Look at anyother suction from the pool to the pump. Eg: main drain or side suctions. Look at the basket at the pool pump. How is the debris getting past that? Should never have heavy debris in the Cartridge Filter if you have a skimmer sock or your basket in the pool pump is not broken. Have to figure out how it's getting to the filters. Cartridge Filters are crap when your pool goes green. Shut the pump off, balance the water, remove all debris with the net and brush, brush and brush some more. You want to kill everything and make it go to the bottom. Might go cloudy like mike or might go clear. The clear part all depends on the temp outside. Could also pull the filters out and run it that way when testing and adding chemicals. It all depends on the amount of debris in the pool and if it goes green. For a cartridge filter, there's a few things to look for when a cleaning is needed. 1. Bubbles coming out of returns. 2. Low flow. 3. High pressure on filters. If you have pine needles use a "filter saver sock" on the skimmer basket. And, have a second set of filters.

    Do you know what the spring is for that sits on top of the black plastic that holds down the filters. I watched your video has a reference and the pvc that runs up the center just has duct tape on my filter 🥴

    • @VIPPoolsandSpas
      @VIPPoolsandSpas  Рік тому +2

      That spring in the video is to keep everything down when the top goes on. The top compresses it down. Not sure about the duck tape on yours. Send a picture of that to info@vippools.ca

    How often do you buy new cartridges?

    • @VIPPoolsandSpas
      @VIPPoolsandSpas  Рік тому +1

      All depends on how dirty the filters get over time. Have backup filters so when you clean one set, then you can put the other set in. Its normally every 2 years, but could be longer.

    How often do you have to clean these cartridge filters?

    • @VIPPoolsandSpas
      @VIPPoolsandSpas  2 роки тому +3

      All depends on whats in your pool (amount of debris). If it goes green and time of season (pollen ). If you close your pool for the winter you will clean your filters way more at the start of the season. As the summer goes on you will clean them less and less. Keep an eye on the pressure gauge also. Or the lack of water flow coming out the jets.

    so is it just me or shouldn't someone talk about the lid being made of fiberglass and that you need to use gloves and don't rest your arm on it whild you are loosening the clamp... I would have liked to know this before I did mine.

    • @VIPPoolsandSpas
      @VIPPoolsandSpas  Рік тому +1

      Its not fiberglass and if you watch the video, we release the valve at the top, wait till you don't hear "air" coming out, then loosen up the ring.

    Even after cleaning the four filters, they still very dirty to me.

    • @VIPPoolsandSpas
      @VIPPoolsandSpas  2 роки тому

      Yes, they will still look dirty. The trick is to have backup filters just for the times it's super clear and the dirty looking ones for the opening. Also, to prolong your filters and do less cleaning, have filter savers at all times in the skimmer basket. Have a robot to clean your pool and if you clean your pool yourself out filter saver in the pump basket when vacuuming. See video "5 ways to vaccum a pool".
