    I've been using this saw for 15 years for ship model work and it is the best. I removed the hold down piece as it just gets in the way for smaller pieces. Choice of blade is very important and I found the Saw Bird #1 double tooth reverse (.030"w x .011 tk) TPI 20 teeth to be the best for hardwoods like box and pear and for intricate cuts.

    You are too funny - just took delivery of a DeWalt portable bandsaw yesterday! I bought it this last week, took delivery yesterday. Managed to snare some 18 and 24 tpi bi-metallic blades also, as the stuff I use most on the guns and knives is fairly thin. I also have, from a friend, the plans for making it semi-permanently into a solid mounted tool. I was going to suggest to you to use a jeweler's saw - I use mine all the time. Those 5.5" blades come in some mighty handy cutting thin sheets of steel or brass. I used the jeweler's saw blades on my scroll saw for many years, mostly #2-0, 5-0, and #3, #5, and #8.😁

    La marca Proxxon es supeior a todo este tipo de caladoras.

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  3 роки тому

      Proxxon no es tan potente y tiene una superficie de trabajo pequeña; si necesita cortar algo más grande que el marco, ¡es mejor tomar una sierra de calar completa como esta!

    Hi Olha, nice product. I have a Proxxon DSH 230. What do you think?

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  Рік тому +1

      I did not try this particular model, but for modeling it is better to have a full-sized tool like this. In order to cut large thickness and long parts without problems, metal and wood - without any questions either...

    I know its a couple of years later but do you still use and recommend the DW788 or do you still use the Proxxon scroll saw? I am in the market to replace my Proxxon and value your opinion. Thank you, Richard

    • @OlhaBatchvarov
      @OlhaBatchvarov  8 місяців тому

      Proxxon is too small. For modeling you sometimes need to cut thick wooden boards, brass for anchors and sometimes very long parts that cannot be turned on a tiny proxxon table (even on its largest version). Therefore, if you have extra space and a Dewalt will fit there, I would recommend getting a full-size scroll saw...
