You played a Model T through an Orange full stack at full volume? You can probably single-highhandedly create fault lines in the earth's crust with that.
I had one in the 70's . I also had a couple of Beta leads , a 2x12 combo and a head w/ a 6x10. With an MXR dist.+ they would blow up a room. My model T had a volume warning on the back. It would kill a deer at 25 ft away. It had the tall 4x12 sunn silver faced 4 ohm cab of those transducer speakers which I took out and replaced with 4 fender speakers out of 2 Super Twins. Those were the days. Also the line booster pedal was great with the T.
This was the sweetest tone I have ever heard! It‘s the perfect amount of fuzz, heavy, sludge and clarity! Now I understand why the Model T is highly sought after.
Yea, the reissues aren’t quite as "Throaty" as the originals but in my opinion they are more a bit more flexible. Better high gain tones and tighter all around. also, loud af.
really anything seems to work well with this amp. For converge stuff I'd check out the Stampede SDT-1 over drive. I think that's what Kurt Ballou uses.. Russian Circles uses the BB and AC pres from Xotic. i like the EQD Palisades and the Horizon Devices Precision drive
precision drive has really caught my attention (much like most people), I am wondering about running that over-drive(STD-1) with my twin reverb seeing if I'll get good results. Russian circles tone is amazing, I think hes using bogner drive pedals now?
I'd like them to HEAR anything they're actually playing thru..maybe,- and I still doubt it,- but MAYBE someday they will be able to simulate tubes.Solid state can be cool, - like the Beatles VOX Conquerer stuff, - but is just a totally different thing . Clearly, they took the "fake it 'till you make it " shit to heart.I suppose it is a good way to learn the basics.
amp simulators are great too. as good as it will sound, carrying a sunn head and a 4x10 on tour is a huge pain in the ass, and maintenance is another issue.
Kemper is 99% there. I was stressing about that 1% when profiling my own amps, but then I forced myself to keep trying and realized the studio profiles countless producers were making sound better than my own mic'd sound through their expertise and gear. Then, I have also adjusted the profiles in ways that are impossible with amps. My profiles don't sound 3xactky like my real amps, but I have adjusted them into abilities the amp's can't attain. Also, let's say you like a 5150, Orange, Mesa or whatever.. You get 50 profiles of your favorite amp from different sources, and then scroll through them really quickly, and find your perfect "mic'd" tone. All amps have been maintained differently have different bias settings, tubes, and all sorts of stuff. Combined with the studio gear and expertise used to make the profiles, you could end up with something better than you could on your own, without spending about the same value as an amp (or more Inin case of studio gear) on just the amp's tubes, adjustments, cabs etc and TIME. Plus you can duplicate the sound every single day of the year, without shenanigans. With that said, I love the sound of an amp in the room, but it's also been a big pain in the arse working so hard on my sound, to realize it sounds so different with a mic in front. With the Kemper, what you hear is what you get through the end speaker. I still have 3x 100 watt amps and a 50watt, but my daily driver is a Kemper, and I keep spending a lot of money to keep my amps tuned. Had to get rid of some because it was a money pit. By Kemper 2.0 or 3.0, o expect even less of a difference. The Kemper converters are kinda meh, so I run it via sodiff to the AxeFx at 48k which makes it sound better. Another thing is.. I wouldn't go other modeler route unless you want to spend a lot of time fidgeting. Like I said with the Kemper, load up a butt load of profiles and just scroll till you find the right one. Then make some adjustments. That's the best way. With a modeler, you will fidget forever and keep changing IR's until you turn blue or green, infinitely adjust and orobay end up with a worse sound. It took me 2 years to master an AxeFxII. With the Kemper as soon as I ammased a bunch of quality profiles, it was almost instant to get a good sound. The effects took longer, but a great tone came pretty quick. I also runn fuzz and OD pedals in front which help a bit to get a more 3d sound by adding some analogue flavor and randomness to the sound. In fact, I use 4 different OD's to change the characteristics of my tone rather than adjusting the Kemper too much other than the gain knob to play nice. Fuzz totally sucks in digital world. It's just too chaotic to reproduce and ends up sounding pretty 2d in most situations. If you are missing some ambience and can't life without it, mic the studio monitor, room, or a wedge and most it in super slightly. You can even do that during playback on a separate track.. If you want string noise in the room, mic the guitar or whatever. Some people miss the love string noise of they tracked in the same room as the amp, even if it's ever so slight, at 1%. If you can't get the right feedback as you would through a real tube amp, get a practice tube amp and have that pumping out the signal while tracking with headphones, just to use it for feedback. A lot of people do this already, when tracking with the main amp in 10 in an Isp room. Oh yeah, when you hear demos comparing the Kemper to real amps, usually the player is jn the same room, and the mic is spicking up the natural, acoustic string noise and sound of the guitar in the room. Even if it's 1%-5%, it adds some dimension tok the sound.
With all that said we still need the real amps to even make profiles! I'm trying to work on one that hasn't been done before. However, I bought two vintage amps that are the same model, and having a hell of time getting them back to stock. It's a money pit.
I have been dying for an amp sim of an original Sunn Model T. I for my Drone Metal stuff all I do is max out a big muff into my bias FX 5150 sim and it sounds okay, but not truly awesome. Doom and Drone for bedroom musicians don't go together at all.
The Reissue definitely has more gain. I think this version is a bit more flexible musically speaking but the original has more Mojo. A little meaner, and gnarlier, It has a really throaty sound and isn't quite as bright
Shred Shed No I did not. But thanks for suggestion. I will definitely try that when I go back to the jam space tomorrow. I had it running in the chain. I did run into some technical issues though. Originally I had it placed right after my Big Saucy Box and OCD but it made my overall signal super quiet. Even with the pedal on, I was just getting crazy hissing sound and no tone. I decided to change its placement to see if it’ll make any difference and put it right after my tuner but before my OD pedals. It works fine now. I find it really strange how it happened. I thought it would work just fine when placed after my drives. For the record I run my amp on clean channel and add everything on top.
My uncle gifted to me a sunn alpha eight from the early 70’s. Here in Mexico the alpha series are beta leads with more channels, and the only way to achieve that sound :v

We we're just messing around. We happened to have an Acapulco gold lyin' around so we thought, why not do a little comparison between the 2? Our intention originally was just to do a Play through of the model t though. Glad you dig it!
Was the Rockerverb also dimed? The Acapulco Gold + Rockerverb setup sounds like a good way to get close to the Sunn Model T tone without spending thousands of bucks on an overpriced amp.

Black Sheep Wall does it slightly but they really remain on full throttle most of the time, but they have their post hardcore mixed with dronedoom cleanish sections and chord progressions (check no matter where it ends)
I get the feeling it’s called the Shred Shed because noone in their right mind would play through an amp like this inside a house with other people around. 🤣 Edit: No disrespect meant, obviously - I can only dream of owning a Model T, though I’d surely get evicted from my apartment within a few hours.
My first thought was: "Huh, that doesn't sound like a model T", then I read the description and noticed that it's the "reissue". So I was right, would've been nice if you'd have put that in the title. The comparison doesn't make a lot of sense though, you might as well have compared the acapulco to a modded marshall, or the model T reissue to a protube twin. In case you didn't know, the reissue is a completely different amp, it's more of a modern/high gain sound. The orginal was much closer to a plexi with more power.
This amp does sound good. That's why we made the video and that's all we care about. it was fun and it sounds good. If you want to purchase an original model t for a crazy inflated price and and make a video about it your welcome to do so.
I do not understand this comparison. The Acapulco gold is based on the 1st gen Model T and the reissue is a completely different amp. They have very little in common.
if i thought that the world is revolving around me i would have say "this comparison does not make sense" i just said that I PERSONALLY don't understant it. :D cool down bro @@ShredShed
@@ShredShed The reissue has a completely different architecture and is made by different people (fender). No matter how good it sounds, it's not a model T.
@@eternalvoid2678 I'd say you are right but the reissue are great with the right pedal. I have been comparing my vintage's sound with people's on UA-cam and even though I play faster than most they still don't have the sound I get.

check my channel dude, u might like
DOOM ON
эх, вот бы di акупульки :( хотя проще наверное самому спаять, чем людей доставать.
Did your parents pay for the amp?
Wo Fat tones.
If God's Balls had a sound
I get the feeling it’s called the Shred Shed because noone in their right mind would play through an amp like this inside a house with other people around. 🤣
Edit: No disrespect meant, obviously - I can only dream of owning a Model T, though I’d surely get evicted from my apartment within a few hours.
They would have to get to you first.
@@MrScrofulous underrated comment
tfw the "clean" channel is more dirty and burned out than most "dirty" channels
I thought the amp was smoking at first
My first thought was: "Huh, that doesn't sound like a model T", then I read the description and noticed that it's the "reissue".
Damn that Sunn is an evil son of a bitch.
My phone speakers are ded
I own one of these. Had it for many years and I will never part with this amp.
SLEEP!!!!!!!!!
If you liked this video make sure to show some love and HIT DAT subscribe button ; )
Dude put a saucer under those plants what are you high
nothing quite like the model t's unfortunately.
I do not understand this comparison.
The Acapulco gold is based on the 1st gen Model T and the reissue is a completely different amp.
They have very little in common.
I felt like making a video, so I did. You don't need to understand it, right? the world doesnt revolve around you my friend.
if i thought that the world is revolving around me i would have say "this comparison does not make sense"
i just said that I PERSONALLY don't understant it. :D cool down bro @@ShredShed
this aint no model t
Says "model t" on the front and it FUCKING RIPS...
@@ShredShed The reissue has a completely different architecture and is made by different people (fender). No matter how good it sounds, it's not a model T.
@@eternalvoid2678
I'd say you are right but the reissue are great with the right pedal.
I have been comparing my vintage's sound with people's on UA-cam and even though I play faster than most they still don't have the sound I get.
No thank you lol
Sounds glorious, at least what I can hear on my phone speaker!
