i think i know what the one piece is based on today's chapter that showedgold d roger and his crew laughing apon discovering the one piece.
i think THE ONE PIECE is a joke about imu and how the ruler of the world(imu) is/has a __ which should be funny for readers to internalize.(remember that imu is shaped different)
For people to even laugh at the joke they 1st have to understand it which is done by 1st knowing about the void century and how imu rose to power which is told in the laughtale island. In marine ford white beard talked about the immense battle that will engulf the whole word when the one piece is found. If the one piece is a joke about imu then imu would likely want to kill those who encounter the one piece because he is insecure just like most celestial dragons who care about their self respect over other peoples lives. Imu hates this joke of himself that is told in the one piece. Imu is the ruler of the world so when it is announced that some1 found this joke about him he will use all his power(marines) to kill them.

I think is the one piece was a joke about imu that the fan base would not be upset. I think the fan base would be more upset if it was actual treasure.
Also notice how oda has only showed the outline of imu and not imu himself. I think he is saving that for when the joke(one piece) is told. its likely a joke about how he looks since he is shaped different. imu probably doesn't want to be made fun of like he was 800 years ago.

plz remember that oda is CLEARLY TRYING TO TELL US THAT ROGERS TREASURE IS NOT GOLD AS SHOWN BY HIM BEING WILLING TO GIVE ALL HIS GOLD TO WHITE BEARD. the treasure of one piece has to be something a dying man (roger) values. And that to me seems like a good story(as told in the ponogryph in laughtale) that ends with some humour(ponogryph ends with joke about imu(ruler of the world he just found out about though the story in the ponoglyph in laughtale))
This history and knowledge can be used as a weapon, blackbeard can use it to know who to kill(imu) to become the ruler of the world.

What if the D clan really were villains of the past, and this whole journey is their path of redemption and in doing so, will help inspire the Celestial Dragons (whom used to be the good guys) to redeem themselves in the same way?
My theory is that Joy Boy pulled some grand prank on the enemies of the old kingdom which still lasts to this very day. The irony of the prank is so much that Roger and the others lost their shit.
It's probably a joke that the Celestial Dragons or Im Sama took completely the wrong way (or overreacted to) and probably has something to do with their clothing/hairstyle

Yeah we saw Rogers crew at raftel, or should I say laugh tale now. That's a big deal, we are getting close to the endgame, I think some other big names are going to be showing up at wano. Marines, Blackbeard.
I’m sure we have some time left- I may be just talking out of my ass but I think the story is about 70% done- we still have to see the crew traverse the rest of new world, get stronger, find one piece and then the war or something so there’s still quite a bit left, maybe 4-5 years. But yeah I agree ever since Zou arc I was like “damn, I can finally see the light at the end of the tunnel now”
@Luffy’s right hand I think wano is going to be a major upgrade in power for luffy similar to how he vastly improved in strength during the upgrade to gear 2nd and 3rd. I think the arc after wano is essentially going to be luffy closing his divide in strength to the og yonko, basically big mom, and Kaido are going to go down in influence while blackbeard becomes the world's greatest threat, luffy will be around equal to them and below blackbeard for now (i think this is when luffy and shanks are finally going to link up) while blackbeard makes another huge stride ahead of everyone. I personally think wano is ending with Kaido's death, Black beard getting Kaido's fruit somehow and us learning blackbeard's full backstory, not just basics. Like I think we are getting everything there is to blackbeard's backstory soon after the whole rox's, oden, Kaido story is told. Bc I don't think they are giving luffy Kaido, he's going to fight him again but I think blackbeard is the one taking out kaido to build his resume even further and really legitimize him

Here’s the explanation for the buggy fever scene: Buggy came down with a super high fever. But he still wants to go laugh tale. He is begging them to take him with them. But he is so sick that Crocus suggests him not going on the trip. But buggy won’t listen so apparently Crocus made up the name “You’ll die if you go to that island disease” to convince buggy to rest.
But Oden is the narrator. So apparently, Oden believed this disease was real because he thinks this is a disease he doesn’t know about 😂

I agree with you when you say that the One Piece that Roger found was early and incomplete. And I believe Roger laughed out of tragic irony because he knows he would die in less than a year, and that there was nothing he could do with the knowledge he had obtained. If he had had more time, his journey would not have been in vain, and since the D guys are famous for smiling in the face of crisis, he laughed too. That's why he started the Age of Pirates too. So that someone could do what he had no time to.
Rayleigh also told Robin that he could tell her everything, but there was no much she could do with that information at that point. So it gets me thinking...
One piece is NOT the final step in the journey.
Joy Boy created the weapons for a reason, apologised for a reason (maybe the same one) and left the one piece there for a reason.
Whatever that reason is, it will lead Luffy's crew to a new journey to fulfill something that Roger couldn't. How this ties in with Ym, is something I can't wait to see.

Yeah after you put it that way, it does seem like one piece was 20 years early for roger. Thats why Toki sent them 20 years into future and if I remember correctly, Oden wanted to open up Wano and prepare for what is to come, 20 years later.
That scene confused me at first but now it makes perfect sense.
How fucking epic would it be if Roger started the new pirate era for this and to top it all off, what if this was the reason Shanks bet on Luffy "for the new era" , betting on luffy to fulfill the prophecy from the start.

I found his bit about the WG actually being responsible for closing Wano's borders quite fascinating. They basically wanted to shush other islands in the world on the contents of the poneglyphs cause the Kozuki clan would inform them of the truth. In that case, the WG(Imu) must have been very okay with the road poneglyphs being with Kaido and Big mom before this alliance which certainly threw them off.Suddenly there are sequence of events foreshadowing their removal hint hint Luffy and Co actions so far ;). This also probably plays well into the theory that Big Mom is gonna be an ally. We've seen her dream to be actually quite beautiful almost like one piece ancient kingdom vibes obviously without the soul sucky sucky batshit crazy, Chopper can have a great role helping rid Big mom of her illness. Probably why that whole bromance thing with Katakuri might happen as mama will be you know a good ol mom? Them eating donuts and laughing would certainly be dope. Marco and Blackbeard also probably fought for the island they had gone to hide the road poneglyph when WB was still alive. This is why BB was interested in getting Whiteboard's territories and Marco went on to fight him but sadly lost.

they were forreal wrong, without the flashback this joint was hype but the flashback just took the entire story to another level.
Everything good in this Arc happened outside of Wano, that includes this Flashback and the Reverie.

What if you get the end of the Grand Line and have a devil fruit the sea poisons you that's why Buggy couln't go. Which would explain why Roger gets sick and is dying from getting close to Raftel.
Also that would explain why Whitebeard with his Earthquake fruit (Gura Gura no mi) didn't go to Raftel.
And thats the thing Chopper is going to cure to become the doctor that can cure everything.

I've been watching Sawyer for over 7 years now, back then when he was still reviewing One Piece and Naruto (both Manga and Anime) at the same time. Since then, there have always been rougher times for us, in terms of One Piece AND reallife. But all this time, every week, I come back to this channel to see Sawyer talking some One Piece. Weirdly, he was there through all my personal milestones in this past 7 years without even knowing I exist. Ever since the Oden Flashback started, it felt like - parallel to the flashback and Roger's journey - the final round has officially started. It might take another 5 years (or even 10), but One Piece is ending. And just now, I have realised that I wouldn't enjoy the end of the series as much if it wasn't for Sawyer and all the other reviewers. I have reached a point where experiencing the end of One Piece together is more important to me then the actual story.
I am grateful for you and your work Sawyer! Keep it up just the way you feel like doing it - I am sure it will end up perfect!

My heart sank when he started laughing. For some reason I expected him to be utterly disappointed or like he saw a crude joke.
I also wanted to say that 2019 was a nightmare for me, and one piece has literally been the one thing that made me smile at times when I almost did something stupid. You’re not alone buddy, Thank you for this and I hope your 2020 is WAY better.
I'm pretty sure Toki knew Joyboy, so IMAGINE if she had gone to "Laugh Tale" as well and saw the treasure that Joyboy left. The possibilities, the conversations and the insight Roger's crew might have gotten from it.
It also may have affected how Rayleigh said that they were too early to find the truth. Maybe if Toki was with them, the situation might have been different.
I imagine that the final panel before we get to see One Piece, will be Luffy laughing the same way, just with a missing tooth. It will be glorious.

I could totally see Shanks being the one to have the road poneglyph, I mean he was basically raised by Roger, he entrusted his hat to him and everything, it makes sense that after meeting Luffy and hearing him say the same things Roger said he gave him the Strawhat because he can see Luffy being the one to do what Roger wanted to do, so he took the poneglyph so no one else would get it, when you said Shanks might have it that reminded me of the scene where he reacts to what Luffy did in Whole Cake saying they would be able to meet soon

The difference is that Roger went to every island on the Grand line and probably went through the Grand Line multiple times. His last voyage however only took 3 years to do according to Rayleigh.
However the last year his of voyage he basically speed-ran everything the Strawhats did from Skypia to Water 7 to Fishman to Zou and Wano to Raftel.

Sawyer, you're the best one piece reviewer in YT, that final thought about Roger's laugh at One Piece makes total sense.
Roger and his crew couldn't believe they've made that far, they've achieved the impossible just to know it wasn't just the time for the One Piece to be discovered. So all that's left is to laugh to tears.
Then, he spread the word that someone from a future generation is going to carry on his will and arrive at Raftel and discover the One Piece when the time is meant to be.

Just finished reading it. That was beautiful. I've followed the series since 04 when I was 7 years old, and this chapter just warmed my heart with a smile on my face. The nostalgia and passion for adventure most men at some point in their lives was lit in me. I deployed to a combat zone, joining the army straight after high school and man that was a fun time. You had to be there. I hope the rest of you enjoyed it the way I did.

It's not a change. It was always Laugh Tale. We just didn't know because it had only been written in Japanese as ラフテル (rafuteru), and the translators didn't know what to make of it. They never realized it was just a Japanese transliteration of Laugh Tale, but that's always what it was.

I had my phase long time ago with manga and anime when I used to watch many reviews, still reading some mangas, but basically One Piece is the only manga I still read on a regular basis, and your reviews are the only ones I still watch.

Oda has said many times that the One Piece will not be "friendship" or anything conceptual like that.
I think it will gold, you know, typical pirate treasure, then some other stuff. But there definitely should be some gold, it's a huge part of the series. Oda won't detch that concept.
