My Initial thoughts and unboxing video of the G2C here: • Taurus G2C New Warrant...

Like you said in your other video, this weapon is great for anyone but more especially those people that are on a tight budget and need a firearm for home defense or a carry gun for personal protection. A person could purchase one of these and a hundred rounds of ammo and get some good practice in and not break the bank. Let's be real, the g2c is more than adequate for any reason anyone would need a weapon. Thanks for the update!
Yes. It gives poor or people on a budget a viable option. Certainly a lot better than a Hipoint, in my opinion. In most everyday situations a handgun like the G2C would be adequate, but a rifle is also an important tool that is needed for many things too. Thanks for watching.
You compared it to a hi-point, when you should be comparing it to a Glock. I own both and prefer the G2c to my 26. Absolutely nothing like a pos hi-point.
I have a Taurus G2c and I absolutely love it!
Cool man. Me too. Thanks for watching.
Really fair and comprehensive video. I agree that the problem probably is what you think concerning the perfect storm of steel case, finish, and spring tension. With the two stock mags the gun comes with, I’ve shot at least 500 rounds of brass through them without a single failure. I really like this gun. Thanks for the cover.
Thank you, I'm glad you liked the video. Yeah I think that is what is going on with the 20 round Mec-Gar. The OEM mags seem really good. I like the G2C a lot so far too.
Thanks for watching.
Got one last week and fired it today. Works great,I love it. It makes a great little carry gun.
Cool. I'm glad you like it. Thanks for watching.
I’m glad the trigger smoothed out.
Yes I'm glad too. Its not a bad trigger after all.
Of the 20+ reviews I have watched in the last 8 months of this gun, you sir have sold me. July 6th my birthday. I will let you know what I find.
Happy Birthday. Thanks for watching.
What yu find?
Taurus now has reinstated the lifetime warranty
Yes. I did a video this spring talking about that. Thanks for watching.
Your videos are great! It’s a refreshing change from everyone else that’s an arm chair operative and knows everything about every firearm ever made. Keep up the great work!
Thank you very much. I appreciate it.
Taurus g2c is the best gun i got ✊
Dude! You have a great style, enjoyable energy, nice voice, and such a fair measure in your observations! Glad I came across your channel. Thanks for the over all mag education. Now I need to find a mag extension for a G2S!!
Thank you so much for the kind words. I'm glad you like the channel. More videos coming soon.
You probably already know this, but I'll state it for those who don't already know it. Using the slide release to let the slide slam forward with no round being loaded into the chamber from the magazine is a bad practice and will damage the firearm. You did this several times in this video without mentioning the fact that it is a mistake, and you didn't advise your viewers not to do it, so at the risk of being redundant, I thought I would bring it up. Also, on the g2c, that little trigger glitch that feels like the dingus is "hanging up" a little is actually from your pull on the trigger being slightly off to the left or the right and not "straight back". The g2c is a good little gun and I hope yours proves to be an asset to you.
Good video.Im thinking of getting the G2C in .40 caliber.I do think that the G2C will be the gun that gives Taurus a chance to really establish their name in the handgun world.
Got my Taurus G2C coming soon; thanks for your 2 reviews.
Cool. I hope you like it. No prob. Thanks for watching.
You Sir, have the gift of gab. Like your videos
Thank you. I appreciate it.
Rio da yung Og gift of gab go listen to it
@@sbjb810 exactly what this comment made me think of 😂
My wife and I just got one and shot it for the first time. We shot 2 different types of FMJ ammo and at least 6 types of hp ammo. We used the 2 factory mags that came with the pistol. No malfunctions what so ever and accuracy was good. Your problem is absolutely with the mag spring. I would never consider a plus 2 extension, especially without a stronger spring. If you want or need more ammo, carry more mags or a different handgun.
Yes, I agree. I did a follow up video showing me changing the spring to a Wolff extra power. I also agree the 12 round are the way to go. And now with the G3, those OEM mags have worked great. I have videos using those in the G2C too.
I purchased the same mag extenders from ebay. 2 for 9 bucks. I then put them on my Sig 226 40 S&W mags from Mec Gar. Took it to the range & loaded em up with Fiochi 115 grains. Ran 4 mags woth, 17 rounds each mag. It worked flawlessly in my G2c!
Cool, good to hear. thanks for watching.
Nice gun. I have the PT111 and the G2C versions. I replaced the plastic striker guide in the PT111 with a Lakeline steel striker guide. Smoothed out the trigger nicely. Also no longer concerns with the "key" lock as it no longer engages. I got Xgrip spacers for my Sig 18 rd mags (fairly cheap off FleaBay). Now it's my "truck gun" and the G2C is my back up and for fun off the cabin deck.
Those sound like good upgrades. I'm sure glad the G2C doesn't have that lock. I'm using the spacers by Blood wheels on ebay. His products are great also.
Tanks for watching.
So did some more testing on my G2C and all 100% feeds and good groups. The issues was the tight tolerance of the slide and frame. Working it dry and then with oil did the trick . This is a massively high production firearm and at roughly $200 it’s not a S&W , Glock, or Sig. it’s a fantastic budget 9mm that I chose because I could not justify over $500 for the new Hellcat. I mean , my total out of pocket with IWB is less than $240. That’s true budget CC.👍
I just bought my wife this same pistol. I’ve got the G2C Millennium. My Millennium has that little burr with the trigger and I took the slide off it and set and pulled the trigger bout a thousand times it’s smooth now. I like these pistols. They can’t be beat for the price in my opinion.
I did the same thing to smooth mine out. These are great guns for the money. Thanks for watching.
Glockshooter79 thank you for sharing GOD BLESS.
@@randlerichardson5826 No prob. God bless you too.
Great reviews for someone who is new to gun ownership. Much appreciated.
Thank you. I like helping new gun owners. Lots of stuff that might be helpful in my Taurus playlist. You are welcome.
Enjoyed your G2C reviews. Liked and subscribed. I agree with the assumption that the problem is with the Mec-Gar 20 round mag. Glad you were fair on the assessment. Fyi, I had the same experience contacting Taurus support yesterday. They are still having problems recognizing serial numbers. Did you notice on the website that Taurus moved the Taurus US HQ to southwest Georgia? The rep I talked with was very helpful, taking my info for registration and the Cash & Carry rebate.
I've been a Taurus owner for about 25 years, first with a PT 99 and later a PT92. Since then I have purchased an M85 revolver, a Millennium PT111 G2, a Tracker 627 357 magnum and now the new G2C. In 25 years I've had zero problems. The PT99 was made in 1986 and was one of the early pistols made on Beretta machines and with former Beretta workers.
Thanks again for your review and keeping an open mind.
I'm glad you liked the videos. I appreciate it. I always try to keep an open mind. I'm just doing these videos for fun, and nobody is paying me or sponsoring me to tell me what to say. I will have more G2C videos soon. I am testing other mags and ammo as well. Sounds like you have been into Taurus for a long time. Thanks for your comment.
Great review and thanks for sharing your thoughts. You're right about the slide release being hard to disengage with the original mags. Encountered same issue with my G2C. It's a charm to handle and shoot and honestly for EDC definitely prefer this over my Glock 19.
Thank you. Yes it does shoot great and comfortable.
I think your spot on about the 20rd mag. I have shot 147gr that have huge hollow points with no problems, they actually seem to have less felt recoil (not as snappy) than 115gr. go figure... only change i made was replacement of the striker sleeve which made no difference in function. I think highly of the g2c and would recommend it, considering i'm no fan of the wonder 9s that's saying something.
I have never been a Taurus fan, but I'm giving this one a shot, and liking it so far. I will figure out the Mec-Gar mag situation and continue to shoot the G2C. Thanks for watching.
Got mine few days ago. Very happy with it. Great content! 👍
Cool man. That's good to hear. Thanks for watching.
Man I learn alot from you! Again a very thorough review. Very kool.
Cool. I'm glad you like my videos. I enjoy doing them. Thanks for watching.
You talk like your a toolmaker or machinist cause not everyone knows what “stacking tolerances” even is.
Good Video!
Thank you. I am a landscaper. lol But I do have good friends who own a metal fabricating company. I have spent a lot of time around their shop.
I enjoyed your G2C vids. I've got both a PT111 G2 and and just rec'd G2C (for $175 shipped after rebate, it was a no brainier). I haven't had a chance to shoot the G2C yet but I kinda love the PT111. Like you, I find the ergos terrific and the 12 round capacity in a small package is very nice. I ended up replacing the trigger with an SAO trigger from keep tinkering and also replaced the striker guide with a stainless steel version. Those changes really helped the trigger situation. With the new G2C I might just leave it stock for a while and see how it breaks in. The PT111 has over 1000 rounds of everything but Tula thru it. Lots of aluminum, lots of brass, 115gr, 124gr, 147gr, mostly FMP but enough JHP to feel good that eats everything I'll throw at it. I believe I've had one FTF/FTE in all those rounds and I was practicing shooting left handed and may have limp wristed it or dragged the slide. I certainly hope the newer G2C runs as well. As for accuracy, for me it's fine out to 30ft which is all I'm expecting out of it. On the PT111 I did need to tighten the front and rear sights after a little shooting so that may need some attention... Anyway keep reporting back on the your G2C experience. For the money I really think Taurus hit a home run. I guess one open question is durability but hell, for less than $200 shipped, I'm not expect a lifetime of problem free use but who knows? Oh and one disappointment with the G2C compared to the PT111 is that the barrel of the PT111 is polished while the G2C is more dull. Just cosmetic but hey, the PT111 does look a little more classy/expensive with the polished barrel. Cheers!
Thank you. I'm glad you like the videos. The little gun does feel great in the hand when shooting. I'm going to keep mine stock for now. Maybe upgrade it later. Thanks for the feedback on your PT 111.
I was interested in this gun also, and like tinkering. Just curious... how much do you have in the gun at this point after those mods? Thanks.
@@jtzx32024 Hi, I bought the iron sights, SS striker guide and recoil spring/guide rod assembly from Lakeline LLC. Recoil assembly was $28, iron sights $30, striker guide $17. Of those the only one I think is a must is the striker guide to smooth out the action a bit. The iron sights were just for fun and durability - the stock sights work just fine and the rear is easily adjustable. The stock recoil assembly is fine too. I just bought the SS version to see if it made any difference (no, not really in shooting but I did just experience a handful of FTEs for the first time - could be the mag or ammo or could be the new SS recoil assembly - need to figure that out). The trigger from keeptinkering - $25 or $35 I think - is great. A must have for sure. I bought one of his SA triggers. It helps the gun shoot like it's much more expensive. I was blown away. A note on the trigger tho - the one I installed on my PT111 went on easily with zero issues. Just yesterday I tried to install the same type trigger on my newer G2C and ran into fit problems which I think will require some sanding of the trigger. In the meantime I just removed the safety dingus from the original trigger and reinstalled it for a smoother action. And I noticed the G2Cs internals don't look as smooth/polished or well fitting as the PT111 so I might at least take some pieces and polish them a bit. Nothing I can do about the fit really. Oh, I did email the keeptinkering guy and he promptly replied and has offered some trigger fitting suggestions and further help if needed. Very cool of him. These guns are so inexpensive it's just fun to learn some basic gunsmithing and get used to messing around with a gun's internals. Hope that helps! And PS: I'm not really much of a tinkerer so if I can take this gun apart, install a trigger, and get it back together anybody can 😁
I got a G3 and G3C. Replaced the firing pin spring on both. Replaced the front sight on the G3 with a fiber optic. Replaced the sights on the G3C with tritiums. Replaced the trigger on the G3C with a Galloway. Not a huge improvement but it is better. Did polish the trigger bar with some 1000 grit valve grinding compound when I was in there. Both are decent guns. Been carrying the G3C to town and the G3around the farm. I have confidence in both.
I've purchased two G2C's. Both shoot flawlessly. BUT, the second one had that little tiny tick in the trigger pull. But it was worked away in about 500 pulls. Also, as you point out, the finish is not ultra durable. I believe it is where Taurus saves manufacturing costs. But I don't know if a perp would know that the hole in them were made by a gun with a worn slide. The gun is very accurate. Your review was too. Word to the wise. Sig 226 standard capacity mags run perfect in both of my G2C's. I have to hold the 30-rounder a certain way or I get a no feed. Great review!!!
Thanks. I'm glad you liked the video. Yeah, I've had mixed results with the Promag 32 as well. I'm sure ( unless it rusted really bad or something lol) The perp wouldn't care at all. Good one.
Taurus g2c and g3c trully are great reliable quality guns great job taurus
I agree! 👍
About the slide release. What locks the slide back, is the magazine follower when it runs out of ammo. The follower "pushes" the slide catch up. This locks the slide in the rear position. So... when you still have rounds in the magazine, the follower obviously has no contact with the slide catch. In this case. When you try to push the slide release, it is fairly easy, because you are only releasing the slide. But if you push the slide release when the magazine is empty, then you are pushing against the magazine spring that is pushing the follower up, plus the normal friction you have to release the slide. That is why its harder when you have an empty magazine inserted. If you have no magazine inserted, then you are not pushing the slide release against anything but the slide. I hope this helps.
Yes I agree. Good info. Thanks for watching.
Taurus is correct calling it a single action with restrike. You'll never have a round in the chamber on Double action unless you misfired a round.
I know what you mean, but I think calling it a SA/DA is also correct. But in the end, the trigger pull is always pretty good, unless re-striking, which makes it a heavy double action. Its all a matter of wording, but I think we both know what the other one means. lol. Thanks for watching.
There is a way to do it dee nell...not that i recommend doing it lol
17 bucks for 100 rounds god I miss those days now ur lucky to see 50 rounds of 9mm for 17 a box
Right on brother. Now I have another one on the list !
lol. You better slow down man. Focus....focus....
LOL! True.
@@jeerrrrrrryyyyy haha, I know how it is. Trust me. :)
Great video bro! Keep me coming. I love my G2c
Thank you. I appreciate you watching.
In reference to the slide release being really stiff, mine was as still as yours. I got my G2C almost a year ago, almost 1.5k rounds through it. But the past month or so, it has loosened up a lot. Even without the mag. Very manageable and I'm left handed (really only use the release when cleaning/inspecting the gun).
Yeah the slide release has already loosened up for me. The spring is so strong on the OEM 12 rd mags, it is still hard to release on an empty mag. The spring on the Mec-Gar has far less tension.
Thanks for watching.
Mine wouldnt release with a clip in it (hit it with a dremel and rounded the slide release and now works perfectly) it is a stamped part to i can see how a burred edge can be on it.
@@firedawg7495 Good idea. Makes sense. Thanks for watching.
I got 2 of the 18 round Mec Gar p226 magazines that work perfectly in my Taurus G2 after shooting 50 rounds or so.
Thanks alot for your feedback.
No prob. Thanks for watching.
thank you, I got a Taurus G2s 9mm on 2-1-2021 as my first gun, and yes I am on a fixed income , I remember the name brand, but I was looking for a 380 but there were none, and when you think about it like 22 and 22lr in some arms they will load and fire and others not at all. most 9mm will not take 380 or cycle it.
Hey bro I'm loving your G2C videos, keep up the good work.... Oh yeah I think you should cerakote your slide! I haven't seen anybody do anything cool with their G2 or G2C like that
Thanks. I'm glad you like the videos. I might get a brown frame G2C and cerakote the slide brown. I think that would look cool. I haven't seen anything like that either.
Thanks for watching.
@@2aEdu that would be a cool looking gun.... I think you should do it for sure.
@@NeoBrown2k11 I just might :)
Gonna try the Mag upgrade next . I think 1 extra 18 or 20 round mag is perfect for the glovebox. Thx again for your (seems like) one take information videos.
No prob. Yeah, these mags have worked good with brass case. This video was one take, and many/most are.
Just received Mec gar 18rd magazine,I went straight to the range I shot 14 full metal jackets out it the first time after I reloaded with 18rd full metal jackets shot it again no problem into I got to the last bullets an it failure to feed the last bullet after I fixed that I then reloaded with brass ammo at least 100 rounds no failure to feed or nothing the 18rd did great for me only that one problem so I agree the steal cases might mess up on you but that brass I shot all day
Cool. Good to hear yours ran good. My mec gar mags have worked great with brass case too. The steel gave me some probs. I have done some followup vids showing it run good with brass. 👍 Thanks for the feedback.
Good video thanks for info. I love my Taurus G2c. It was my first gun and my favorite. You love your first lol.
Thank you. They are nice little guns. Yes....You always love yours first. I hear you there!
My son has one of these and on his BD I bought him the brand name Sig226 20 rd. mag. Expensive but, he has had no issues with it shooting steal or brass.,.
Cool. Good to hear. Thanks for watching.
@@2aEdu exactly because I just brought one
Watch using Tulammo, it has the chance to heat up and reform over time while in storage during hotter months and become completely useless after it bleeds. Might be a cheap alternative if your only buying a couple boxes at a time, but if your buying in bulk buyer beware, just invest in brass.
I have had no problems with that when I store it in the house in ammo cans with silica packs. But I know what you mean. Thanks for watching.
Just got my G2C recently. Went out yesterday and put 150 rounds of steel case ammo through it without a hitch. I guarantee it’s a magazine issue.
Cool. That's good to hear. I agree with you. The steel case has been great in the OEM 12 rd mags for me too. I'm def thinking its an issue with the 20 rd Mec-Gar and the steel case. I will continue to shoot it with the 12 rd mags and get a Wolff spring for the Mec-Gar mag.
Thanks for watching.
You can buy a 32 round magazine for the Taurus G2C directly from the Taurus website.
Yes. Its actually Pro Mag, being sold by Taurus. Not a big Pro Mag fan. But let me know how they run if you have one. I'm curious.
@@2aEdu my buddy bought one, seems to run fine even when rapidly firing.
@@brandonnecessary Cool good to know. I have never bought a Promag steel mag before. I did not have good luck with their Polymer AK mags.
Glockshooter79 I have one only thing I see wrong with it is , it will let you load 34 rounds but I only loaded 31 round in it & it ran perfectly for 120 rounds but then I ran out off bullets
@@recklezzrecklezz9536 Cool. I may have to get one to try it out. I appreciate the info and thanks for watching.
WOW OCD at it's best. gets good results though. But I knew before he went thru the whole explanation that the problem was the steel casings. but he finally got there. Taking the long way around.
I have found that there are a lot of new or first time gun owners buying these guns and mags. I am trying to start from very basics and explain thoroughly. Its easy as a long time gun owner to take these things for granted since we start with a much higher baseline knowledge than a new gun person. I think its great how many people are getting into guns with these budget offerings.
The pistol is a great little pistol well designed and most likely one of the best pistols Taurus has ever built. Personally you should just buy bulk brass cased ammo by the 1,000 from Federal, Fiocchi, or Remington it can be had for about 16 cents a round. I don't ever intentionally buy steel because it has been known to break extractors. I did by mistake buy a box of 50 Winchesters at Walmart and shot those but I won't be buying anymore steel. Others have had problems with steel feeding properly because it is not as smooth a case as brass. I doubt it's the mag. A cheap fix would be to stretch the mag spring. Of course that could cause a malfunction as well, but even if it did you could buy another spring anyway. I am glad you and others find a need for a 20 round mag but not me. I don't even like 30 round mags in AR's. A mag protruding way under a firearm makes it awkward to fire in certain positions or circumstances. I use 20 round mags in AR's. It doesn't hurt to have an extended mag to give you a full grip which I like with my pocket pistol as well as the G2C. Very nice video. The G2C is a fine pistol. I have one and am considering buying another. I also have a Spectrum .380 for a pocket pistol. It has worked flawlessly with factory ammo. One other thing. Some semi autos just don't like some ammo. Just because it does not like a specific ammo does not mean it is a bad pistol. So long as it is reliable with what you are shooting. Personally I hate steel, it's cheap and it can ruin an extractor even on expensive firearms.
You're lucky. I can't fire steel case at any ranges around here. Any problem with an aftermarket mag, not specifically designed for the pistol you're using it in should not be blamed on the gun. Hopefully the Wolff spring resolves the problem for you.
Well is the spring replaceable in the Mec Gar?
Yes it is. I did a video about it here:ua-cam.com/video/57IEaP-8_fo/v-deo.html
Thanks for watching.
Glockshooter79 try the Proro Mag PT 111 G2 for us will ya?
@@Jerusalemmade I recently got one of the Promag 32 round mags. I will do a video about it soon.
No don’t. Blame it on the gun have the same problem is the spring already bought me a different spring for the 20rds magazine.
Cool. I'm not going to blame the gun with no good reason. I will either get a non +2 base plate or get a Wolff spring for the 20 rounder.
Thanks for watching.
No problem.
I have two mec p226 18 Rd mags for my g2c and both do the same thing. I'm going to buy the wolf springs too. Let us know if the spring works for you.
some polishing of rear top of transfer bar helped mine lots!
Good. Thanks for the info and thanks for watching.
Had the same issues today with my mec gar mags in my g2c. Ran flawless at first but then started acting up, also like you said the spring is very weak ( I have the 18 without the plus 2 ) and it still feels very soft. I'm working on a fix for the spring.
I did another video of me installing the Wolff extra power spring. I have also done videos of me shooting different types of ammo in these mags. Check out m G2C playlist. I hope it helps.
👍Thx for the vid. I never wanted a budget gun. I have CZ’s, SW’s, Walther’s, Ed Browns. Not being pretentious at all....just never wished to trust inexpensive weapons.
I now own this Taurus G2C but was very hesitant to buy however with the rebate I paid 126 so I bought it.
I couldn’t be happier the gun runs flawless no matter what I put thru it. Grip is sweet! Runs great. I was shocked. The trigger take some getting used to and front sight sucks but KUDOS to Taurus. Nice weapon for the dollar. 👍
Nice hand gun, I own a couple of them, no issues so far.
Yes it is. Glad yours are working good. Thanks for watching.
You answered your own question. Dump the aftermarket mag and steel case ammo and it should be fine. Mine has no issues whatsoever. Paint the sights and call it good. Enjoy.
I agree. My G2C has had no issues with the 12 round OEM mags ( even with steel case.). I did this video and others on the P226 mags, because so many people are asking about them and if they work. A lot of people say they work great. I'm actually doing this to show people that they don't always work great. My conclusion is that the Gun with the 12 round mags has been great. A lot of people want to use these Sig mags, and I am trying to help by showing how they are (or are not working).
Thanks for watching.
I agree. The steel ammo, with non taurus mag with improper spring size/tension adds up for cause of your issues. NOT the gun
I think it could also have something to do with the angle of the magazine noticing that it was a little loose in there it could be how you're holding your pinky on the magazine changing the angle even just a little bit with the other conditions could be a fourth variable
The mag catch notch is s little wider on the Sig mag. This makes it a little loose.
Thanks for a great video. I'd really appreciate a link for that spacer for the 20 round Sig Sauer 226 mag. Thanks!
No prob. I'm glad you liked the video. Here is a video where I discuss these spacers. There is a link in the desc of this video: ua-cam.com/video/nx8KRChviPc/v-deo.html

@@edwardmarcot464 No prob. I have a lot of vids in my Taurus playlist if you are interested. Thank you, and Merry Christmas to you!
A fine gun for the price, well worth the money, my only problem with it so far is the magazine is too short for my handloads. The overall length of my 9mm handloads is just right for all my 9mm guns.....except this one. So now I need to change the overall length of all my 9mm. It did ftf the same way with mine, check your overall length of your steel case ammo, see if they are exactly the same.
Yes, this gun is great for the money. I will measure my steel case. I never thought of that. The steel case does run great in my 12 rd OEM G2C mags though....Thanks for the idea.
I had mine last March 18. As soon as I arrived home stripped the gun and to may dismay the rail at the end part was cracked and one magazine is not working well. Not a single round was fired. I send it back to Taurus and need to wait for 12 weeks.
That really sucks. I hope they get it fixed quickly for you. Thanks for letting us know and Thanks for watching.
It is true that MecGar uses the 18 round spring in that magazine. However, they work just fine in my Sig P226.
Cool. Thats good to know. I don't have a 226. I have noticed that the mag catch notches are a little different in the G2C mags than the Mecgar 226 mags. I think there is a stacking of tolerances. I have done a few other videos on these mags since with steel and brass ammo.
Thanks for the info.
You will find tolerance stacking just about everywhere. Try Wolff gun springs for a 20 round spring.
@@x-calibearusallc Yes. I have another video where I installed the Wolff spring. It has a lot more tension.
I got me a mag loader the spring in the mags are hard to reload when 4-5 get put in. I can get 32 round mag for the G2’s. They’re great pistols in my opinion. My G2 Millennium likes the 124gr FMJ’s.
Yes mag loaders are nice. I did another G2C video where I showed a mag loader and grip spacers made by Bloody Wheels on ebay. Thanks for watching.
Taurus makes good guns man gotta love em 👍🏻👍🏻
Congrats on your shiny new PT 92 man.
Glockshooter79 thanks man I'll be doing a video of her someday
OG PT111 (Gen 1) and p226 18 round Mec-Gar worked for me, so far. Caveats: I didn't try to limp wrist it, only shot less than a full mag (you know why), I put aluminum 115g, brass 115g and brass 124g all in at the same time trying to make it maybe FTF or FTE. I thought I had a primer not go off... but nope I simply forgot I was out of rounds and the slide does not lock on empty on the Gen1s.
Another excellent video 👌 peaceluv
Thank you sir. 👍
@@2aEdu u welcome brother
I ran my G2C with brass fine, then brass and after the 2nd mag started to failure to feeds. Cleaned the barrel out with the wire brush and haven’t had a problem since
Cool. I'm glad it straightened out for you. Thanks for watching.
My G2C would not run Monarch ammo from academy. Would not fully feed the round into battery. Had to push on the back of the slide to get it to go fully forward. Switched ammo runs fine.
Interesting....That isnt good. I generally only like guns that will feed steel as well as brass. (I mean modern guns)
Thanks for watching.
I just got a g2c yesterday. At the range, it wasn't very accurate. I don't know if it was the ammo I used or the sights. Maybe I'm using the sights wrong? Idk, but it wasn't very good even at 10 feet. At 21 feet, I aimed at the top of the target and it hit the bottom. I need to adjust the sights I guess. I've only shot about 36 rounds through it.
There was a youtuber that made a video back on 2018. He was showing how his magazine works well and its because you need leave a full mag for at least an hour before you shoot a new mag. My my p226 18 round on my g2c runs well. Im suspecting its because I had the mag loaded and ready for anything a few days before I went to the range. ..He proved it with 32 round promag that is known for jamming in g2c.
Aye bud, sorry for the dumb question but,I was wondering if you had a chance to upgrade your trigger on your G2C? I was thinking about a trigger from "keep tinkering". I am a little confused but they offer a trigger and trigger w/assembly. Which would you recommend, with it without assembly. Which would be best?
that's an after market mag for a sig what u can do is get the Taurus G3 I believe they make 15 and 18 round mags that fit the g2c perfectly
Yes very true. I have done several videos on this. The G3 comes with a 15 and 17 round magazine. I recorded this video before the G3 came out. Check my Taurus playlist if you are interested in newer Taurus videos. G2C, G3, etc.
Slide release on mine is the same. Empty mag slide locked open? Hard to operate release. Also, pulling back on the slide only releases the slide when ammo is in the mag, or when the mag is out. I think that this "feature" might be great in the heat of the moment if you need to change out mags, you can't accidentally go back to battery with the empty mag if you knock the release. Maybe it's just a flaw. But honestly I don't care much, once you have a fresh mag in the mag well the release positively goes right to battery with authority.
Yeah I hear you. Its not too much of a bad thing. I was just pointing it out. Some pistols do release with ease on an empty mag. I think it is because the Taurus mags have a very strong spring too. Which that is def a good thing.
I see you cleaned up from the previous warranty video. LOL.
I will have to try steel case in G2C mags and my TP9SA 18 rd mags now? I've got several hundred rounds through the G2C with both mags with no issues. But I have not tried the steel.
Steel has run great through my OEM Taurus mags, just a little trouble with the P226 mags.
If you use the g3 15round mags and order the +5 extension from strike industries. You can have the oem magazine and have a 20 rd instead of using mecgar or an aftermarket magazine
Sure. You could do that.
No one likes a hitch in there Dingus!!!! Lol just got a G3 any problem dry firing that much? Do you use snap caps at all?? JW thanks for the info you’ve been a big help sence I’ve got the gun👍🏿👍🏿
lol. I did a whole video on snap caps. Search my channel and you will find it. You are welcome. I have a whole Taurus playlist which you might like.
Nice update
Thanks.
Another issue I had this is my 3rd taurus g2c and when I leave it loaded and sit and carry it for a few weeks and go to shoot it first round fires 2nd or 3rd round has failure. Nvr had this issues with my other 2 just my new g2c does this. Think I'm going sell it and get the g2c. 40. The failures left a bad taste in my mouth. I know the g2c is a good gun.
That is interesting. It sounds like it might be a mag issue. I would have a hard time trusting it after that too. I have wondered about the .40, so if you get one let me know how it does. Thanks for watching.
@@2aEdu will do buddy thanks for the reply
I just got the 18rd MecGar mag and I’m having the same problem in my G2c. I’m positive it’s the mag. While using the stock mags I have yet to produce a failure in over 1200 rounds. The spring in the 18 is really weak as well. It’s wayyy easier to load than the stock mags and seems to have a different amount of hold in the release, where it lets a bullet out with very little force and less distance of push. Using the Mec Gar, I’ve gotten repeated nosedives. I think the mag works, but just isn’t an exact (enough) fit, or that spring just doesn’t provide enough “Umph”. I’m getting a stronger spring as well in hopes that it helps the feed process. Mec Gar’s site does list that this mag doesn’t work in the P111 G2’s so it was a gamble anyway, but who knows, with a little tinkering, might be able to get it to feed consistently. Hope it eventually worked for you too.
Maybe a 20 or 33 round spring will clear up all your issues ?
I ordered a 32 round magazine for my g3 from Taurus for 26 dollars its listed in g2c magazines.
Cool. Yes Taurus sells the 32 round made by Promag. I have one as well.
Promag is not a reliable
Mag
@@kingabid6745 I generally agree.
Haven't had any problems with mine yet
I'm close to buying G2C. I'm semi disabled and no way can I shoot it 400 rounds for the recommended break-in period. Maybe 1 box 50 rounds or 100 on 2 trips to range. Is this enough ? I'm retired LE and know glock is good to go out of the box. Have model 26 and issued GAP 45. Your video is the best I've seen. I'm just older not good health ( heart) so do you think the G2C is for me? Also have problems racking slide (weak hands) so did get a Ruger 38 LCR for nightstand. Thanks man- blu duc
Stand by. I am going to do a video about this topic soon. Thanks for the question.
I've got two of these, never an issue with either one. I never use steel case ammo anyway because a lot of people say it's hard on the extracter. Forget about the 400 round break- in period, They just say that so people won't send them back after ANY type of Bobble at all. These guns shoot well and are accurate and even have adjustable sights for Windage and Elevation, Thank you.....
I am uploading a video answering your question right now. It should be live in the next 30 minutes. Thanks for your question.
I've heard that the Walther Creed is very easy to rack the slide.
@@deasttn I've heard the same thing. Good suggestion.
Definitely not the Tula I run it in 2 handguns and 8 rifles. No issues. Usually always the mags
I tried the sig mag, lots of misfeeds etc. Didn't work worth a crap for my pt111 g2
I was using brass case ball ammo, the gun has had no issues except with the 226 mag
I really wanted it to work and tried 2 different mags. Problems with both. Returned them 8 more rounds doesn't help if they wont feed😀 id be interested to see if the spring helps👍
My sig mags have worked fine with brass case ammo, but not very well with steel. Just remember that these sig mags have the mag catch notches cut in a very slightly different spot than the G2C. Not all pistols are exactly within the same spec. If your mag catch is in a very slightly dif position, combined with the very slight dif slot locations of the sig mags, this could combine to make them not work well in your pistol. Many people say the p226 mec gar mags run perfectly in their G2C. A few have said they dont. Mine works with brass, but not steel.
I will say that the G3 mags have run 100% and lock in perfectly in both of my G2Cs. With both brass and steel case.
I have had FTF and FTE with all casing types from various brands with the stock mags.
Curious, have you considered sending the gun in for repair?
Am considering purchasing G2C while the $30 rebate is still going on but am worried about reliability issues such as you have mentioned.
Sounds like you need to send it in for warranty service. Thanks for watching.
@@ovans Most of the people who have left me comments on the G2C have been very positive. With that said, there can be a bad one here and there. Thanks for watching.
Nice review man
Thank you , and thanks for watching.
Not sure why I have a brand new Mec Gar p226 20 round mag. I took it to the range last week I get failure to feed every 2-3 bullets fired. Not sure why it does that my gun is cleaned and lubricated 3 weeks before I took it out to the range. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks.
From your local Walmart back when Walmart used to sell handgun ammo 😂
Hello good morning I would like to know which pistol is this 20 ammunition loader you were using in the video. In the 9m G2C pistol. And I would also like to know the name of the piece you used in the coating charger.
You can actually slam mags in the well and the slide will chamber one.
I have noticed this with the Mecgar 18 and 20 rd mags. Thanks for watching.
I just bought a 32 round mag for my Taurus and when it’s not loaded it clicks and stays in but when I load my bullets it doesn’t click and stay in my gun can anyway help me out ? Thanks and God bless
Hey bro quick question can the Taurus g2c shoot +p ammo? Haven't seen any videos of nobody shooting a Taurus g2c 9mm with jhp +p ammo
Yes. the owners manual says all Taurus firearms in 9mm can shoot +p
@@2aEdu thanks bro
@@charleswilliams5668 No prob
I'm going to buy one in afew weeks for my first pistol well 2nd but my extar ep9 it to big to carry but this will be my daily carrying gun
Cool. Good luck. I sure like mine.
I still like my g2c. The sites still suck but my girl has some neon pink nail polish and I painted the front post. No more site problem.
Yeah, I have used nail polish on sights too. Works great.
The mags I got with the G2C were extremely stiff(2 dbl stack 12rds). I got it brand new. For the first 150 rounds I couldn't fill one of them all way and the other one was easy for a while. Mainly bc I didn't have a speed loader.
Yeah, I noticed both of my factory mags have very stiff springs. This is probably a good thing for reliable feeding. Thanks for watching.
@@2aEdu thank you for responding to your viewers. I love the videos man, complete feel of just every day dude talking about guns.
@@theguy9791 No prob. I'm glad you like my channel. I'm just a regular guy, like you and everyone else. I like doing these videos.
Does the fifteen rd mags need a break in for the g2c cause when my fifteen rd was new it didn't pick up a round when I was firing it so I had to rack it again so it would chamber a rd cause it didn't pick one up is this because it was new or what you think
That may be the case. All mags should be broken in. They have a spring in them, and a follower than rides against steel. So needing broken in is somewhat normal.
I just got mine yesterday. Haven’t shot it yet. It’s my first hand gun. It’s ok to dry fire these that much or should i get a dummy round?
I got the g2s btw. Only complaint is that the black powder coating on the slide scratches easily. It’s going to look really distressed in no time which I’m ok with I guess
Look at my Taurus playlist. I have discussed many things about these guns. I also have a review on the G2S, with more vids on it coming soon. Here is a vid that might interest you, but also look at my Taurus play list. ua-cam.com/video/OYD0qeN018g/v-deo.html
@@factorybear5264 Yep the finish does wear easy on these slides. I have covered this in videos as well. I have a lot of info on the G2C/G2S/G3 in my videos
I prefer the mag coating because it does not attract finger print smudges. The shiny mag look tacky after you touch the surface...
Yeah good point. I like the look of the blued finish, but it does get pretty messy with finger prints etc. Thanks for watching.
Mec Gar mag problems
I think the problem you are having is related to the steel ammo. It lacks the lubricity of the brass ammo, causing it to drag on the inside of the magazine tube.
You can still use your steel ammo but only in the factory mags that have a stronger spring pressure/lift.
Yes, I think you summed it up pretty well. I agree. Thanks for watching.
No I used American eagle and sig elite hollows with this mag plus federal full metal jacket same issues it's not the ammo
