It seems like this issue has affected way too many people; just last year alone, I have seen at least a dozen cases. From time to time, someone from Instagram will direct message me regarding their new Omega watch purchase, and I have to be the bad guy to tell him the truth that his $500 or $1000 watch is fake. So at this point, I had enough, and it only makes sense for me to create this video which hopefully will help ease this problem.

It's a shame greedy criminals have to ruin everything! Keep up the good work, thank you 👍🏻👍🏻
Especially after I informed these sellers, and they just ignored me.
Hey! I congratulate you for showing raw details of Fake Omega, which many Omega beginners are unaware of. Thank you very much. Gratitude, Brazil.
My pleasure. Glad it was helpful!
The "Costelletion" model (with 25 rubis) is a rare one!
So Is not bcs it’s write "constellEtion" that’s is fake ??
Insightful as usual! Great information, but sad to see such deceit in so many sellers.
That’s why you cannot always trust the seller but self knowledge is vital.
Thanks as always for another excellent video, as well as a public service!
You're very welcome. That's one of the purposes of having this channel. :-)
Excellent video!!! Thanks for doing this.. So many ppl do not do there research and think there getting a fabulous deal and get screwed ..
Have A great weekend, can't wait to see your new website releases this month!!!
I can't wait either! Expect to see around 30-40 new pieces! hahaha
Thanks for the info.
Any time! This video may seem useless to some people, but I am sure it will help many as well.
Thanks for the video
My pleasure! Thank you for watching!
erstmal vielen Dank für das Video!
Zum Glück ist meine Seamaster cosmic 2000 zu sinnlos zu faken mit dem merkwürdigen Gehäuse
Hahaha
Definitely a true public service announcement. The brazen willingness to cheat their customers is saddening and frustrating.
Problem is you will find many on eBay and Chrono24 platforms.
Thanks for another great video! What’s the most trusted site to buy a new Moonswatch?
You're welcome. If you want a Moonswatch, better to visit a Swatch store, they are still selling them. If you are looking to spend more than retail, there are a ton on eBay and Chrono24. But honestly, if you are willing to pay more than retail for a Moonswatch, I suggest you to buy something else.
@@TimelessHistoryChannel Thanks for the great advice!
I think I inherited one of these fake watches. Such a shame. It looks really nice and is from the 1960s. I want to get it tested to be sure its a replica or just get it working and wear it around.
Sorry to hear that
Thank you. I have been tempted to look at these on ebay, but never bought one. Love scanning your collection.
If you're uncertain about something then it's a sign to stay away from it.
Old fakes are pretty easy to spot. But new ones that is a lot more difficult. You should never buy a modern omega from anyone other than a reputable seller.
There are two kinds of new fakes. The low quality and the high quality. Sometime you need to open up the watch on a good quality fake to realize that it is a fake watch! Scary stuff.
Old fakes are easy to spot because me and you have knowledge about vintage watches. However, old fakes are similar to old redials (done decades ago) commonly fool those who are new in the hobby.
OK the second piece. They can't even spell Constellation on the dial correctly lol. Green fuzz on gold, eh that's a giveaway, plated at best, as you say gold does not react at all. The first one, I had one, bought with some other watches at auction, I didn't pay a lot, the watch is very similar but the movement has been stamped omega and has a movement number, same if not identical movement as the one shown by you. I just couldn't believe they made fakes that far back as the sixties, but they do folks they really did !! I heard of the phrase autobahn gold for these watches which I think meant folks were selling these pieces near the German motorways to tourists, basically scamming them knowing they would never see them again probably for what sounded like a good price. Very little info is out there with regards omega fakes from the 60s and 70s but the movements are such a giveaway even if the dial case and hands are decent. They are all typically handwinding only, no stamped omega crowns usually, they look inside like the cheapest movement imaginable. I know there are much better fakes now ie new modern Seamaster often known as super clones. A lot of people just don't know its not just rolex that have their watches faked. I know there must be a lot of new and old collectors here but if you are buying online ie ebay once received best practise is to take it to your local watchmaker to authenticate, I think you have 14 days to report an issue from when the watch is received. If fake, ebay covers the purchase cost. No one is allowed to sell counterfeit knowingly or not. They do guarantee against this so if you don't take the opportunity to check when you have spent a lot of money you only have yourself to blame. If it sounds too good to be true it probably is 😉👍😂
Thanks for the deep dive on this topic. But I have to correct you on one thing and that is the second piece is a Seamaster. haha
I have a fake like the second ‘Seamaster’ you mention. I bought it out of somebody’s watch junk drawer (in excellent shape, by the way) for iirc $10 because it amused me and I wanted to know more about it. It was clearly fake; Omega never made something that felt so junky. I was surprised to discover it used a 17 jewel AS movement. I think it was worth the $10 for the amusement factor, so I lightly counter your insistence it’s not even worth $5, although most of its value is indeed the vintage, decent Swiss movement fake nature amusement of it.
I am an extensive collector of real Omegas, by the way. Different things are worth different amounts to different people. In my collection, it wears a string tag that says “Fake Omega” on it. I would never sell it to somebody without that being clear.
I have to exaggerate that it is worth no more than $5 so that people don't mistakenly feel like they just found gold for almost nothing. If you pay $10 for one and it's in decent shape, I have no issue with that as long as you enjoy it. But if you are going to pay so much for a fake watch, please don't do that. Instead, spend your hard-earned money on something better and genuine. There are many nice genuine vintage watches in working order for under $100 all the time. So don't let the brand tricks you and end up buying a fake watch.
Thank you for informing your client that the watch is fake when you are offering one.
@@TimelessHistoryChannel I am not really a seller, but I wouldn’t want my wife or estate agent to unwittingly sell it as real. I think it is a historic curiosity, and thus not something for the rubbish heap. There are loads of lovely vintage watches in decent running as-is condition for well under $100 that are more worthy of consideration for regular wear, I agree completely. I remember when real running decent condition Omegas, particularly 1020s, were all over the place. I bought one I wore for years for $37.
I remember a nice Constellation Dog Let reference only cost me around $250 back in the early 2000s. Most Seamaster didn't cost more than $150. But those days are long gone. Only time you might find another Omega for under $100 today is by luck or maybe hidden in some estate lot sales.
It's a _genuine_ vintage fake Omega!
Case material and phoney brand stamps aside, the dials on all of those are so off, and so obviously wrong. You could do a similar tutorial on how genuine dials should look. (e.g. the Constellation MOY test, show good/fake examples, etc.) I've read serious articles that showcase watches with redials. It's a curse.
You can't apply the MOY test on all vintage Omega Constellation watches. That's why I can't make a video about dials, as it will take forever to create. Studying a watch dial takes years to understand.
Do you think they Rolex be fake too
I would say there are more Rolex fakes than any other watch brand
Those watches come from china nearly got caught a couple of years ago
Not all. Like the De Ville piece, I can believe it came from China. Swiss brand, Japanese movement, and Made in China. haha, that's a good sign that the watch is definitely not a genuine Omega.
The first and second pieces are vintage fakes from 50-60 years or possibly longer ago. Those are not from China, that's for sure. 😁
When you told the fake sellers to take down their sales post 😂 did you show 'em your deputy sheriff's badge 🤣
Good point. I should do that next time!
@@TimelessHistoryChannel But make sure it's a real badge and not a FAKE! 😄
@@DarthPlaya lol, trust me, people that sell fake will not be able to tell it apart.
