I have question for you omega enthusiast.I took my watch to omega to have it serviced it is a 1962 seamaster .it took 9 months to get it back when I got it back they polished the case and changed the hands on it does this hurt the value of the watch?

Unfortunately, the answer is YES. Many people believe that sending their watch back to Omega will get the proper restoration job done. Unfortunately, that is not the case. If anyone decides to send their watches to Omega for restoration, make sure to provide your requirement of what not to do during the process. Polishing and replacing parts not only devalue the watch but it takes away its originality of the watch. Not to mention that it takes over 6 months to have your done service, and it will cost a lot. Basically, many people are paying more to devalue their watch. 😞
Well it looks good I wanted to verify the year of the watch and movement And I did not even get that.I learned my lesson from this do not take any vintage to omega.

You can let them restore your watch, but just make sure you inform them before hand what not to do. Most watchmakers nowadays do not respect the history and value of a vintage watch. They just know that if I polish the case and replace some parts I can make more money. Sad but true.
