Awesome! Love it.
You guys rock! #MCM
Moog! Please, release the music used!!! I need this in my life!
Just got my signed poster and air fresheners here in the US, both are fantastic!
Not even a side shot pic π
MCM doesn't get enough credit for how good their audio is. I just love that aspect
Thanks James!
are you talking about the quality of the audio or moogs elektrofunky beats? sometimes it doesn't go well if there is a voice singing
You would kind of expect that from these guys. Moog being a Pro musician/composer, and Marty is actually a sound engineer by trade. IronGav has also been around from the beginning, his graphics always making the show look cool and professional.
Totaly agree, great job MOOG!!
It's way too loud though
I love how the media blaster has a windscreen wiper on it.
I think he is blasting with high pressure water not conventional like crushed glass, walnut shells etc.
Cause he was using pressured water and either beed or sand
That's vapour blasting. It uses water and a solid blasting media to create a smoother finish on the part and also closes the pores of the metal, whereas dry blasting leaves them open. The wiper is there so the operator can see what they're doing.
@@unicorn7337 yep, water, medium, and compressed air.
@@unicorn7337 does it key up as good as dry blasting?
You've clearly got European spec springs mate. If you'd bought Australian spec springs the writing would be the other way round!
Underrated.

@@craigsummerville8823 Hi Craig, one Somerville to another Summerville - from Winnipeg Man. Canada, G'Day!
@@robertsomerville320 Back at ya! Our last name was originally like yours when we emigrated from St. Omer, Normandy to Scotland in 1066 with William the Conqueror. Sometime in history from then it was anglicized to Summerville.
This STI is easily one of my favourite MCM cars.
I am waiting for the Gemini, myself.
I like this car as well but not so keen on the motors although I owne an air cooled VW π€
Same
Its so beautiful
especially after the paintjob jeebus so nice!
Benny has forgotten more car stuff than I'll ever learn in a lifetime. Legend.
These new shocks won't work but we'll just tear them both apart and swap these parts and machine a quick spacer and we'll be golden. :-p
If Benny goes on holiday, most of the Aussie UA-cam channels will have to stop work as well.
Gold/Bronze is always the right color choice for a World Rally Blue car. The SSR Type C's look fantastic on it!
Love how excited Trung looks @19:37 - dude fits right in with the other MCM experts.
I've only seen Trung in a couple videos and he's quickly turning out to be another legend! He's good on camera too, speaks quickly and easily and concisely on camera.
Honestly, every single time I watch one of your videos I am overwhelmed with the feeling of positivity. Even when things go wrong, I'm smiling the whole time. No hate, just two buddies/mates having a good time doing what they love. Keep on keepin' on fellas and appreciate the positivity.
Thanks Cory!
"you might be shocked to notice the strut is missing" good one Dad πππ
You know I'm excited about this car when I verbally said "wtf" when they didn't give us one last 360 of the car after taking it off the lift. I think they understand how much we r loving this car and wanna wait for it to be perfect to show all it's beauty.
They're just teasing us now! I'm sure we'll get some lovely shots of it once it's on the track.
For anyone wondering the wheel colour it's Fiat 750 Marron Volciano, I did it on my 350z Rays wheels 3 years ago and they still look great.
Yep. I've had it on the R32 GT-R wheels on my MR2 turbo for years, too.
Hey! I also have a 350z with rays that need painting, do you have any pictures of yours? Thanks!
@@gigabot183 yes some pictures on my Instagram speedobsession_
I want to get my rims done in that color now. They are long overdue for freshening up and my car is a similar color blue and that bronze color should look really good with it.
Nice, I have Rays CE28s on my black 350z in their factory bronze, and they look great. Will one day powder coat them along with the factory Brembos for a refresh
Been enjoying this series so much. Cheers for all the hard work boys!
Edit: so hype at the wheel colour - was worried you might not do it!
thanks Kev
yeah my ocd and me are sending a thank you to marty and his color choice
@@mightycarmods I just had a set of original OZ Chronos painted in a 'Volk Gold' for my Celica GT-Four, and whilst I'm delighted with how they turned out, they don't look anywhere near as good as these. Feeling like I need to get them re- done in that Fiat colour now. π€

I really love when Benny is around. I love this project so much.

Just wow. When I first saw this car I thought to myself, "there can't be so much to do on a car already so perfect" but you guys did it anyways.
I swear I got goosebumps, when the colour for the wheels was revealed. Great stuff man! This is exactly the 90s STI i've always visioned in my mind!
Hats off to Moog. I always enjoy the music in the episodes and I know he does all of the songs. Awesome work mate!!!!!πππππ
This is my favorite project you guys have done since Moog's Fairlady Z.
Mechanical Stig, plus the car, plus the wheels, it's just :: chef's kiss ::
7:27 "They've also been the hardest hit when it comes to fakes".......ebay plastic brembos come to mind
have a look at brembo's website!
@@mightycarmods www.brembo.com/en/company/news/brembo-brakes-guide-to-recognizing-fakes
Right..I bet lol hahahaha
The Civic :D
True however you can buy genuine brembo discs (rotors) but don't because they are awful every set I've seen have warped in a year or less and that's on variety of different cars so its not the car.
It's really cool to see Benny become much more comfortable on camera over the years, it's so good to hear him speak more and learn from his massive knowledge of cars!
"While the car is up in the air, I'm gonna change the diff oil. While the oil that's in it may be fine..."
That oil that came out was pristine. Not criticizing the decision to change it, that's just good sense but I've never seen oil come out of any car part looking that good.
Gotta say, kudos to your cameraman guys! Some quality slow pan and slide shots!
Music is always amazing.
Love the colour on the wheels, big fan of gold/bronze wheels and the thickness of the tyre fits so well.
This is the exact 2 door shell Impreza I would love, with those wheels, that drive system and the colour. Well done. You've nailed this for me π
I love the color of the rims man, that's exactly what I picture on an STI
A madman use a racing suit to time his attack on spraying the rims
I mourn for the day when MCM will give us the news they will no longer make these videos. The adventures you guys have taken us all with you on during all these years are truly something special.
Always so informative, passionate and homely. You inspire so many and give us so much.
Love the early versions of the STI, feels like high school when I see one..
Beautiful job on those wheels, props to the painter. Wheels are always tough to keep everything thin and tight.
10:15 fank of the week
BENNY!!! It is so good to see you working with him on this car. He has so much knowledge, it is always a pleasure to see him doing some mad mods with you legends. Happy Subaru days lie ahead
I would pay money to spend a day working for mechanical stig. The guy is a genius and we can all learn from him.
Rock on Benny!
My favorite series! The 2-door STI is a dream car of mine, keep up the great work guys!
Same
That Subie looks good, sounds awesome and is tastefully modded in my opinion. I think Marty did an excellent job with making it his own. As always, love this series and all the content.
Exactly how I'd mod an old STI Marty! She's gonna be bloody near perfect!
6 speed is a must mod for any Subaru person who wants more performance!
Marty my man, any mod to a car that makes it better AND safer to drive is totally worth it, don't let anyone tell you different.
I've never seen so many clean fluids come out of an old car,the engine oil was the only necessary change.
Whenever Iβve bought a new car, Iβve changed all the fluids no matter what. Probably unnecessary but at least you know exactly how fresh your fluids are and when they were done last.
Gearbox / differential oil doesn't usually get dirty like engine oil does. I just changed the gearbox oil in my car at 107k miles (172k km) and the oil that drained out was still obviously a translucent cherry red. FWD gearbox so it is gearbox and differential oil at the same time.
I watch these videos and smile. They remind me of my friends and I, working on our cars on the weekends when we were young. Cheers!
Trung is a natural on camera and His work is fantastic!
I always thought the classic STi was missing a few trick bits... mainly the 6 speed and Brembos. I own an 05 widetrack STi but a v5/v6 STi Type R is still my dream car. A classic STi with newage bits is on another level.
Thank you, MCM, for making my life complete!
the colour of those wheels is amazing!
I know, this is turning into my fav MCM build.
The wheels were the straw that broke the camels back to turn me into team STI. And I own a BRZ. Moog is gonna need to bring his A game with that thing, because the STI is SLICK

Trung's voiceover part was great, it's really reassuring hearing a pro put 2+2 together for you, like I'm sure we all have had those painting problems like blistering and crow's feet while trying to colour match a part and I feel like my inituiton is always 'just add a bit more paint!'
I am so glad you went with bronze wheels. Simple perfection.
This series is amazing! I canβt wait for the Nissan to make her appearance. Nice work lads, love from Vic
βYou may be shocked to find out there is a strut missingβ .... nice dad
I owned a this car but had to sell it 3 years ago. I had a smile ear to ear the whole time watching this video and past videos of this build. I'm excited for more! This makes me want to import another jdm and do a proper build.
Goosebumps when the actual paint hit those wheels ... this looks superb

Glad I wasn't the only one that noticed the switch from RE003's
Yep saw that too. Much better tyre than the RE003's so its a win win all round for MCM.
Came to comment the same observation
My tyre change is comming up soon and I've been weighing up what to use... my car came with R003's but so many people have reccomended I switch to the PS4s... kinda funny it looks like I am following MCMs lead ππ Also good to know Im not going crazy noticing the tyre change in MCM π
@ChrisHallett83 Indeed, I have Pilot Sports PS2 and they are amazing in dry and wet. And comfortable as well. Like you can have your cake and eat it.
Exhaust System: Funny how many times my friends end up on their site when I tell them to download a driver or check the forums for diver issues for their Nvidia GPU. Almost everyone thinks there is a "I" in front of their name. And yeah sure, I've done it when I first got into PC gaming.
I have the q300 on my car and I love the exhaust, a lot of people complain that itβs not loud enough but itβs perfect, you can hear the rumble and it sounds deep and just perfect for a street car.
Blimey, I let out a very audible gasp when I saw the colour Trung was putting on those SSRs.
The sample was okay, but the finished product was jaw dropping!
Absolutely the right choice on both wheel and the paint colour, it looks mad!
"It's not even meant for this car and it's bolted on". That's the trick, buy your bolt on parts for the wrong car. Somewhere out there is a WRX owner with the right car and an identical exhaust kit cursing how all the brackets except one line up on their 'bolt on' exhaust.
Love barrel bros such a cool aussie shop and they had triple j playing in the background heard a song by Matt Corby i believe βππ₯
Everyone just take a second to appreciate the heart and soul Moog puts into his music alone.
Seriously, you guys are more talented than most "professionals" on TV and the production value is just through the roof the past few seasons. Here's to another decade of MCM (I know, 12 seasons but whatever I'm tired)

THANK YOU for showing that you took a wire brush to clean the hub faces so the new rotors would sit flush on them. This small but necessary step keeps new rotors from shaking the car apart when brakes are applied.

18:46 that little windscreen wiper is adorable!
You have definitely done very well to keep the Purity of this beauty. Even the non-standard parts you've selected are either STI or honestly meant to be on this blue wonder. Yes, bronze wheels started here, so it's completely right.
LoL "just enough to keep the internet happy"
Literally impossible
I said to myself "If he doesn't paint those wheels bronze I'm unsubscribing."
Guess I'm not unsubscribing.
All the people you are working with seem to be very nice and loving there job, that's just awesome. Most of the time I need to get something done on my car, people try to rip me off or are just unfriendly...
Words can't describe how much joy this show has brought me over the years.
16:35 Seven speed?! Incl reverse?!
Yes
Nah including race gear mate ;)
Recheck your nuts after its first heat cycle. The paint melt coursing the nuts to loosen.

@@afoolandhismoneychannel hum, negative speed ? :)
The 'R' stands for race right? ;)
this video not only is fascinating but also the suspension work makes a lot of sense. While for a WRX STI you can buy coil overs not every car has a set made for them and so this mix and match is a good way to experiment and build a set if you need some
Disc Brakes Australia are the best Aftermarket Rotors you can get. They are Good Enough to Stop on the German High Speed Autobahn again and again and again.
Gotta say those wheels look amazing, Trung did an amazing job! The height on the car is spot on, my jaw dropped when it came off the lift and I saw the stance. Everything about the car is absolutely sick.

You have convinced me. My car is similar in color and the rims are looking rough these days. I love that color that you chose with the blue. Time to go and get mine redone!
The money that goes into your cars is astounding. I wish I could throw cash at my skyline like you guys, it would thanks me years to do stuff you guys get accomplished in a month.
Probably the best car you guys have done! Itβs stunning! One of my favourite all time cars
I feel so lucky that I can watch your great shows, thanks for all of the years so far.
I could watch ya just putting new wheels on cars all day.
Crazy! Marty I have the same car with that identical wheel and tire package on STI struts. My tip for you is to get camber bolts for the rear struts and adjust the camber to 4mm clearance between the back of the tire and the strut. If you get it spot on you won't need to roll the fenders! Also, the tires will pick up road sand and sandblast the paint right off your freshly painted side skirts so cover the leading edges with mud flaps or clear bra ASAP!
Congratulations. You deserve a car like this Marty. All the best dude.
I loved this video. Got those same breaks on my WRX and I'm planning on replacing the rotors myself. I hope everything goes well.
