    We are now doing weekly aerial flyovers depending on the support that we get. Our cost range from pilot fees to rental fees of the Cessna 172 that is used for the flyovers over the sites.

    The tanks aren't "armored", it's soft metal, Aluminum Roll Jacketing, that fitted around the insulation for the tanks to protect against UV, water, corrosive environments, etc. I've seen this type of insulation in the construction of the tanks at the new Vogtle nuke plants.

    As long as those older Raptor engines still functional, why not use them for some other rocket (if they could be retro-fitted)? Surely they could be used for research purposes. 🤔

    You know that big, tall, long hallway on the outside of the starfactory next to the road? What if it became an indoor rocket garden displaying some of the old SpaceX builds? I'm thinking Hoppy may end up in an atrium in the new office building.

    I think that was an interesting meeting when somebody floated the crazy idea of a flame trench
    'A WHAT?'
    ' a a a flame trench'
    'that's how everybody else is doing it, what are you talking about?!'
    'I just don't believe it is conductive to our test campaign if the blast fires away in all directions.'
    'I find your lack of faith disturbing'

      I asked where does flame trench exhaust go... across river .... and someone replied ..."into the air". But the flame trench exhaust is more horizontal !

    • @dancingdog2790
      @dancingdog2790 3 дні тому

      Toward the river, upwards at an angle. The bottom of the trench is deepest under the ship, then it ramps back up to the surface. Hot gasses will continue to move upward as they move away from the exit of the trench. So, into the air, toward the river.

    If they can build a flame trench for the test stand ? Why didn't they do it for the OLM ?

    • @geoffallan
      @geoffallan 21 день тому

      The flame trench at Massey's will only handle ships. But I agree, it seems obvious a flame trench should be used at the launch site and has been a topic of conversation for many years.

      Because rather than dig, they went high, gives them a LOT more clearance and allows them to more easily work on the booster while it's on the table rather than lifting if off and on constantly. The only thing they don't have is a traditional deflector which is what usually sits in a trench. I suspect they keep it flat to make it easier to get their dance floor under there, again to make access to the engines easier while ON the stand. The belief they 'need' a trench is and always has been nonsense.

    • @Bryan-Hensley
      @Bryan-Hensley 18 днів тому

      @@geoffallanmight be because it's not needed. Flame trenches were originally created so the shockwaves wouldn't destroy the engines. The raptors are strong enough and have enough nozzle pressure that the shockwaves don't damage them. The vacuum engines might not be and is most likely why it's being added to the starship testing.

    Emergency!!! THE ONLY SOTUTION!
    Baffles will not work to prevent the fuel slushing problem, because the tanks of the starship system are too large. That is the only reason why the starship engines have been exploding every time.
    The solution:
    The tanks of Starship and Superheavy need 2 disk valves, expanding the diameter of each tank. One of the disks, the one on top, rotates above the contiguous disk to close the overlaping holes on the surface of the disks; to reduce the Size of the tank by dividing it, before any rotation or acceleration of the rocket. This will prevent slushings and protect the plumbing, if located 10% above the bottom section of each tank. Large telescopic pistons can be attached below the bottom of disk valves to control the fuel pressure as the piston expands into the fuel tank.
    I have built a model that works perfectly. The second disk valve can be located 10% below the front of the tank, to also protect the front of the tanks from the slushing forces.
    The gridfins are too flat and too small to be effective enough and will not be able to control the booster.
    Why is Elon not using four pins instead of three to secure each heat shield tyle? Four anchor points provide far more stability to secure a tyle, not three. Also, each type should be constructed with the bottom half of the brick consisting of an interwoven latice of steal mixed into the silicon, to provide a foundation of strength and durability to each tyle. What is more important than securing the heat shield by providing the maximum stability and strength to each tyle? The interwoven steal mesh lattice mixed into the bottom half of the bricks, and the four anchor points would eliminate the problems of tyles falling off the ship every time there is an engine ignition event. Please get this message to Elon. Thank you.
    Also, Spacex needs 3 actuators to move the payload bay doors correctly, not two. They have only two now, one at each end of the payload bay. They need one at the center position. Three will guarantee that there will always be enough support to open and close the doors, even if one of the three fails.
    I know the spacex engineers can see these problems. It is like ignoring the elephant in the room. The solutions should be a no-brainer. Musk needs to hire people who can be trusted and who will not continue accepting bribes from Jeff Bozo to sabotage and cause unnecessary delays to the Spacex Statship program.
