I come back to this recipe almost every week. Such a comforting yet simple recipe perfect for when you feel sick or sleepy!! I don't eat meat and don't always have the same ingredients so I replace the meat with meat substitute and use whatever spices I have on hand but the stew tastes great regardless.

You guys!!! I just made this for dinner. And no exaggeration this was epic! I can't wait to take this to potluck! This was better then restaurant (I live in Adelaide SA not Korea so don't judge lol) I made the first one but I made a few changes. I didn't have clams so I just used mushrooms and added a left over potato I diced it really tiny and microwaved it to cook faster and I couldn't find the right tofu so I used silken tofu. It was so so so good! Best thing I've ever made. Also so quick and easy.

Today I have both the platter that the stone pot sits on, and some hot finger peppers (green). I also replaced my chili flakes with chili powder from my local Korean source. I did not have the Korean beef bullion powder, so I replaced that with hondashi. I heated my hot pot in the oven at 350 for about 25 minutes and the Sundubu bubbled like it did in the restaurant when I poured it in. I cracked and egg and carefully dropped it in and then garnished with a generous topping of green onions. When I sat down with my large bowl of rice I was excited and when I took my first spoonful it was though I was back in my favorite Korean restaurant in Manhattan again. It was delicious. Hot, spicy and I had added a 1/2 cup of mixed seafood. It was like coming home again. Thank you so much for enabling this old man to recreate his favorite Korean dish in his own kitchen. Warmest regards to you both !!

I recently came across your channel. Aaron OMG you are a champ and Ms Claire is a lucky lady. How is she still so slim? This recipe is just out of this world. SUPER YUMMY on a dreary rainy day in Austin, Tx. This recipe is not complex. The manager at Hannah’s World Market (local Korean supermarket) tried to get me to buy a prepared mix😮! I turned her down and am very glad I did. This will be a definite repeat when it gets cooler again. Thank you my dear man. Philip

I just finished eating this. I do have a hot stone pot, but I wasn't sure how to heat it, so I put it in the oven at 200F, obviously not hot enough. That said, except for the Korean soup bouillon or chicken bouillon I was true to the ingredients and proportions. At first I thought it didn't taste right, so I added a little salt. I cooked it in my wok and let it finish there for 2 minutes with an egg on top and then poured it into my hotpot, which was larger than necessary. I served myself a full bowl of rice and sat down. I wasn't certain at first, it's been a couple of years since I've eaten at my favorite restaurant in NYC, but after I got into the rhythm with the rice and a scoop of sundubu, I realized it was every bit as tasty as what I've had in the past, though not as spicy. I am very pleased with your recipe. Now I need to find instructions on heating the stone pot properly. Sadly I am forced to cook on an electric range, but I will find some help online without the pressure of actually cooking so I'll be ready to finish in the stone pot next time. Now I have an excuse to buy that stone pot wooden base next time I'm at Super G Mart in Greensboro. Thank you both for improving my cooking and for being so completely entertaining while you do it. Cheers !!

ohhh yeah, do try this one folks, very quick, easy and packed with flavour. Had to subsitute butter for lard, (canned) smoked mussels in oil for clams, paprika and a little cayenne for K chilli pwder, but it worked fine. I added a little sugar as it's a slightly sour soup, (not super necessary tho) and added some cubed zuccini. Tasted the broth first, it was fine, then broke open the poached egg and it went super rich.

I think I like the second method better because I really love dumplings but this looks really good!

This is our staple meal. It's so easy when you pre-make the tofu soup base and keep it in the freezer! It's our go to meal when we want soup. 남편이촣아해요! I'm 요리 초보! ㅋㅋ
