    You should do the Icon Suspension leveling kit. Raise the front an inch or two. It'll be 👌

    Been enjoying your LC videos. We run a Tundra/200 garage. Surprised how tight a fit with the KO2s it is. Seems piles of folks went 285/70/18 RGswith a suspension upgrade. I was running 285/70/17 Duratracs in CO before I did the suspension on my 15 with no rub. Now it’s same size Exo Grapplers and they just catch the flaps at full lock.

    • @UntamedMotors
      @UntamedMotors  4 роки тому

      Dean Matula Thanks bud! Appreciate that. ...and yeah I honestly thought this was going to be a more comfortable fitment but it was much tighter than I thought. What suspension setup did you go with on your 15?

    • @deanmatula5914

      Untamed Motors I went BP51s with SPC UCAs and ARB 2721 springs in the rear 2 years ago. tldr no regrets. No complaints and they’ve held up over 30k with no issue with rust or anything (I do hit them with Fluid Film occasionally). Had to zip tie one of the rear shock protectors but that was my fault (adjusting compression and rebound on them is trickier than the fronts). Was torn between those or Kings. I didn’t want digressive shocks with all the gravel and washboard roads in rural Colorado so Icons were out. I’m torn on my Tundra for what we’ll do as they’d be easier to adjust than the 200. Doing the 200 I’d consider Kings for ease of adjustment if you play with settings a lot, but they seem to needy if you’re obsessive about pitting (so more Fluid Film and home made shock boots maybe). Otherwise the BP51s are fine, work great on the roads and trails, and are pretty low maintenance. Other popular way of going seems to be Tough Dog. Seems like the Aussies just about have Land Cruiser suspensions cornered.

      One more thing if you do any shop work, I know Golden is a hike from southern WY and they run a full book, but Slee Offroad really is awesome. They did my suspension as I didn’t want to invest in the tools. Best alignment I’ve had on any car. Day/night difference. It isn’t a 991 (what I had before the LC) but I’ve never had steering track so well in a truck or SUV and that includes the German SUVs.

    • @UntamedMotors
      @UntamedMotors  4 роки тому

      Dean Matula I appreciate the tips man, thank you. I’d love to get this thing on some different suspension. Did you ever notice a heavy steering feel on your LC? Compared to the Tundra, it’s substantially heavier. I chalked it up to the full time 4wd... but idk. Thoughts? Maybe lifting up the front helps that?

    • @deanmatula5914
      @deanmatula5914 4 роки тому +1

      Untamed Motors It does feel different. Stock for stock, I preferred the 15 to 16 for steering and throttle response but everywhere else the refresh is better. A good alignment and UCAs will really improve the steering, especially with heavier tires on there. Throttle response can be improved with something like a Pedal Commander. ECT helps too and you already have it. I use it pretty much all the time. Especially since I went to even heavier tires in the Exos (wouldn’t do those again). MPGs isn’t a concern with it, your driving and tires are. Stock was 16-20, Duratracs even after the lift were 15-19, and the Exos are 12-16. Even after mods, it still won’t feel like the Tundra for steering. The Tundra with a lift-level and stock size but LT Ridge Grapplers feels more fun to potter around in. Lighter steering and faster throttle response is probably why. You can throw a bunch of money at changing that with gears and a different suspension setup, or you can embrace the difference I character. For a road trip, family haul, or anything off road I prefer the LC without question and a 16+ would be even nicer. That said the chill box, which is deleted on the Heritage, is one of my family’s favorite features.

  • @firemedic5170
    @firemedic5170 4 роки тому +1

    Had the same issue on my 4runner with Ridge Grapplers. To hold you over (and keep you from feeling rushed to decide on suspension work) you can try to push your fender liners forward. It costs ya nothing and takes about 15 min 👍

    Just bought a 2021 TLC HE, trying to pick the right KO2s. I assume your 65s have an E load range? Any issues with stiffness? I’m told a D load range is more appropriate for this vehicle but can’t find 65s with that range.

    • @andyham6094

      If you take it off roading a lot and need more clearance I would definitely lift it. But if your using it as specifically a daily driver and just stay on dirt roads and don’t really go off roading you will be good. I have a lift and bigger tires on my 4runner because I need the extra clearance on more technical trails but I wouldn’t do all that just for looks. Takes too big of a hit on the mpg and not worth it just for looks imo.

      @UntamedMotors  4 роки тому +1

      xzer baluyot nice! How do you like it? Did you notice any difference in steering feel? The stock steering seems heavy to me (compared to the tundra at least).

    • @xzerbaluyot9994
      @xzerbaluyot9994 4 роки тому +2

      @@UntamedMotors I love it! It looks a lot tougher. The steering still feels the same, still heavy. At least I'm able to fit larger tires with no rubbing. I've taken it offroad a few times and the OME BP-51 just feels better than stock. You can adjust the height from 1" to 3" if I remember correctly and dampening/ rebound in case you install a heavy ARB bumper. The best part for me was that the LC no longer dives forward/down when I apply the brakes.

    • @UntamedMotors

      xzer baluyot that’s good info, thank you. I think I’ll keep mine stock for a bit longer... besides, the wifey isn’t thrilled about my constant upgrading and modding... haha I’ll give it a couple months. =] Grats on the setup though, I’m jealous!
