      K A T H Y S M I L E Z I am assuming this could be happening from mechanical damage, like 1. combing or brushing top to bottom, when the correct way is bottom to top little sections at a time, 2. Rough hair ties with metallic pieces that rip and break the hair, no metal ouch less ties would work well. 3. Not being careful with the bag strap can also catch hair and rough it up between your shoulder and the strap. Also, the easiest best advice I can give is 1. coconut milk on dry hair, 2. Put a bag over your head, and leave for 1h to 4h. If sensitive to protein, just use coconut oil 🥥 ON DRY CLEAN HAIR. Be persistent, good luck 👍🕉

      well that kinda depends on what you get. I stopped using drugstore shampoo and conditioners and started using shampoos and conditioners salons use.
      yes, when I have to buy new stuff its over 30 euro. but it lasts me over 1,5 year. with drugstore products I spend a least the amount in that time and I get less quality.

    • @crimeslime5419
      @crimeslime5419 7 років тому +10

      +Krysta Pendleton I just squeeze a couple table spoons of lemon juice or a whole lemon and mix it with like 2 cups of water. Lemons are anti bacterial and have nutrients that are good for your hair, plus they balance the ph levels. I've heard you can even rub the inside of the lemon peel on your scalp. Don't leave it in for more than like 2-3 minutes and massage your scalp well.
      It's just something new I've been trying. You can also use soap nuts and a couple other things. I wanna try soap nuts but they're kind of expensive. Apparently they're cheaper and for sure less harsh than other detergents but sometimes you're just to broke even for good deals. Anyways stay away from baking soda if you plan on using simpler alternatives. I wouldn't recommend completely replacing your haircare routine with lemon juice or anything if you don't already have somewhat healthy hair- if your hair is basically like how fried her hair then you should keep conditioner.

There are also tons of DIY shampoo recipes online that are made with things like honey, coconut milk, and a gentle soap base (Dr. Bronners). It's definitely worth looking into - these natural alternatives are also better for the environment!

    Is it just me or is dying your hair almost like an addictive process. During the times I’ve dyed my hair it seems to be when I’m in a mental break down type of state and the constant bleaching is striping away the mess along with my hair color, it’s all a constant cycle that can’t stop. Before I dyed my hair it was so nice, I had chestnut brown hair with natural red highlights and was quite thick, it’s been almost 4 years since I’ve started bleaching my hair and it’s so thin compared to before and fried, I want to cry but I don’t think I’ll stop bleaching my hair and it fucking sucks
    Okay sorry if you read to here it’s a late night ramble I suppose

    In case anyone needs tips as a wavy girl
    I've tried the curly girl method and my hair was fine at the beginning (I had to wash it every other day because my hair loses definition easily)
    The CGM didn't work for me except for the deep conditioning part my hair started to dry out and any strand that loses definition turns frizzy right away not just loose.
    I deep condition once a week (coconut oil is perfect) I wash my hair twice a week, brush it in the shower and never when it's dry. I put it in two braids before going to sleep. My hair seems satisfied being just wavy and the hair texture is a lot better, I rarely spot a frizzy strand and it's bouncy and soft.
    DONT FORCE YOUR HAIR TO BE A TEXTURE IT DOESNT BELONG TO. Keep your hair wavy as it is and don't force it to be curly

      We all have unique hair for sure, no technique will be one size fits all. I have wavy 2b/c hair and tweaked the CGM to suit me, it changed m hair completely. I didn’t even know I had parts of my hair that could actually get ringlets here and there. But I had to play around, drop some stuff from it, do some things that are “no no’s”, and figure out what suited my hair - rather than forcing it to be something it wasn’t. You’re completely right and we should all embrace our hair no matter what it’s like!

    tip: put coconut oil on the very ends of your hair BEFORE you shampoo. just the ends though, and focus shampooing the base of your head and running the shampoo through your strands. prevents the shampoo from further damaging your already porous ends, the oil comes off when you lightly lather your strands no worries..and the heat helps soak the oil into your ends ;-) it's about taking away old product not stripping oils...

      Coconut oil does not work for me before I wash it. Oil can’t actually moisturize your hair; it can only seal in moisture and keep it from getting too dry. But if your hair is already super dry/damaged, it probably won’t work for you.

    Use less shampoo and more conditioner, leave the conditioner in for a longer period of time. Use hair oils and DO NOT use the hair oil before you apply heat, id put it in after you condition your hair and leave it in, towel/air dry or let it sit and absorb for a little bit

    I always thought that the hair is made from keratin which is a dead material and because its a nonliving material it cannot regenerate it self. These products put a thin layer over you hair to make it look healthy, this is not a permanent solution. The only thing what helps to get rid of split ends is cutting it off. These products usually contain
    a lot of silicons which wear the hair down and form a film on the scalp. Expensive shampoo does not mean it is better, it is about the ingredients in it which can be researched on the internet.

    • @pops24x7
      @pops24x7 8 років тому +16

      Yeah it is dead once it's grown out of your scalp there's not much you can do, same goes with split ends you can't heal them they have to be cut away, any product that makes your hair better just coats the strand to smooth it out... well atleast this is what I've found through reading about it :)

      So I tried it and my hair is still damaged but it got a whole lot better !!! My hair isn’t stringy no more and I can finally straighten my hair and my hair didn’t fall off because I used the heat very low! Make sure it’s LOW!!! This happened once in my life where I got my hair done in Mexico and I used a straightener with very high heat and it burned off my hair so that was a life lesson lol but other than that I was scared my hair would fall off and it didn’t because I was very careful with it and used these tips from the video and I also didn’t straighten my hair a lot I just use it whenever I go out also let your hair air dry don’t use a blow dryer ! I totally understand. last year I completely fried my hair going blonde. I had to chop off 3 inches and I still had split ends. What helped me was applying coconut oil once a week and leaving it on overnight (if you do this you need to shampoo at least twice to get all the oil out 😄) now I'll put coconut oil on first then mix olive oil and an egg yolk and leave it to soak overnight. When washing out don't use hot water or you'll cook the egg 😆 once a week I'll do the coconut oil by itself and once a month do the coconut + egg yolk and my blonde journey this time around has been so healthy. I hope this helps someone!

      Some people have oily hair, their roots get pretty greasy after a day or two. But if they dye their hair it can dry it out, and then they keep washing it the same amount because they don't realize, so it gets more damaged

      @aalw918 7 років тому +27

      +lollopisemis i have fine hair too and I used to wash my hair as much as you do. When you wash away the oils the hair start to produce more and more, I trained my hair not to produce as much oil by not washing it as much.
      I reduced it by one wash every other week. Now my hair doesn't produce hardly any oil. I only wash it when I absolutely have to and I wash it with a coconut cowash that gives it the oils it needs so it won't produce as much after washing.

      I wash my hair with Wen cleansing conditioner (the one for oily hair, which has tea tree oil I believe) & wash it once a week max. I've always had oily hair & had to wash it every other day when using regular shampoo & conditioner. I've been using Wen for a while now & it doesn't get as oily anymore, just like the other commenter stated. However, I could wash my hair daily with Wen & not damage my hair since it's a cleansing conditioner. I'm just too lazy & still have the idea of "washing less is best" ingrained in my head.

    @somegirljess my hairdresser(, who's amazingly skilled but still too expensive for regular visits) told me that actually no one can "repair" hair. The only thing you (and even the best hairdresser on this planet) can do, is make it look and feel healthier.
    Be "nice" to your hair and scalp (with good products) so it grows faster and healthy, cut it regularly and make sure you don't damage it/the damaged parts further.
    FYI: I went from long, dark brown, semi-dyed, really healthy hair to now damaged silver-blue, shoulder length hair, so I know the situation far too well ;)

    Getting a wide tooth comb really helps your hair, especially if your hair is damaged. It removes tangles and doesn’t cause split ends like a regular brush would. It also doesn’t cause a lot of frizz when brushing dry.

    Also stop using a towel to dry your hair , the little string bits catch on to hair and pull out strangs. Instead use an old t-shirt or something of siimilar material as your hair will slide right though without creating friction or tugging

      Another tip is that rubbing the hair with either a towel or t-shirt is in both cases unnecessary friction that damages the hair. Lightly squeezing it instead (with a t-shirt or microfiber towel) and then letting it air dry or dry in a turban is a much better alternative.

      She is wasting her money on all these products, and doing what I did. I have way light bleached hair from a level 5 to platinum, and you don't need to buy the products she is talking about. The best fix after 10 years experience is to mix 1/2 jojoba oil with 1/2 fractionated coconut oil. Put a tiny amount in the palm of your hands and rub them together (not too much or your hair will look greasy). Cup your palms together and slide 2 inch strands through this, and your hair will look and feel perfect. Plus, it's chemical free so it actually good for your hair and it replenishes the moisture back into the hair. I just discovered Biosilk, and that is just wow!! You can add a bit in at the end if you even need to. If your hair is dry enough like mine, the oil soaks in overnight and is gone. Then I use the Biosilk for amazing shine. One bottle will last years!

    My hair used to be so bad and dry because I straighten it weekly and it just wasn't getting the moisture it needed. So I did some research and found this home made hair mask and all it is is two egg yolks, two tablespoons of olive oil, and half a cup of water.
    I put that all through my hair mainly focusing on the ends and left it for about an hour and then washed it out and conditioned my hair.
    The results were amazing! The protein from the egg helps strengthen your hair so much. And because I literally have to straighten my hair otherwise it turns into a frizz ball I use the Davroe straightening balm and leave that in overnight. And then just straighten it.
    I do this twice a week and it's completely transformed my hair I highly recommend doing this if you like using heat on your hair :)

      +bands & wifi Definitely gonna try this out! It's not like my hair is super damaged, i mean i never use heat and i've never dyed it, but somehow it just feels reaaaally dry. It doesn't feel soft at all, it makes me stop wanting to touch it. Just one question though, isn't it hard to remove the eggs and oil? It sounds like it is something extremely hard to get out of my hair

      I shaved my head to my scalp and haven't cut or dyed it since. I've been only washing once a week (shampoo and condition once works for my short hair). I used to wash my hair daily and it'd be oily within 24 hours and barely grew. Since I shaved it off I've grown 2 inches in about 2 months which is a lot for me and it's so healthy. It takes about 3 days to be oily now which is sooo nice and I can't believe how nice my hair is. I've started using a leave in mask now and I'm seeing such a difference.

    Well, may I suggest you a thing...? I believe that the effect of those tons of products will only be a total build up. No help at all.
    If I were you, I would cut my supa-dupa-damaged hair in a cute pixie cut and I would start a more natural routine, with organic shampooing max 2 times a week (it takes time to your hair but they'll thank you really!), a silicones-sulfates-free conditioner, once the pixie will grow to a bob and a pure organic oil, such as Argan, Coconut or jojoba oil, for a weekly gentle scalp massage some hours before shampooing. No hair-dryer (only if and when really necessary) and absolutely... No dye! No bleach! BUT, at this point, I suppose you already got that :D... Sorry, joking...
    Well, this is only an advice from a healty long-haired girl ;)
    Good luck for all!

    Use coconut oil all over your hair and let it infuse for a few hours before washing it out.
    Coconut oil is one of the few oils that can penetrate the hair and not just coat it in a film.
    I just did this yesterday and my hair is definitely softer and less frizzy.

      Honey is also incredibly beneficial for your hair since it helps the hair retain moisture and heals wounds on your scalp. It's also self preserving, antimicrobial and makes the hair shiny and soft but at the same time stronger and more durable. Lush has a great honey-based shampoo, if it feels a bit tedious to emerge your hair in only honey haha, but you'd still like to try something environmentally friendly and safe for your health. I'm currently using it (It's called Fairly Traded Honey) and it's the best investment i've ever done for my hair.

      Sadly honey is too sticky and uncomfortable to use on the hair on its own, whereas oil is very easy to apply, you can do it before every wash. Looking for shampoo with honey is a good idea though.

    • @AlvaEdentorpSandin
      @AlvaEdentorpSandin 7 років тому +4

      +Quixotic +Quixotic Yeah, that's true, although I was really referring to mixing it with coconut oil as you mentioned, to make the application process easier. I never apply it all on it's own of course. After that, rinsing it out with warm water is no trouble at all, but I guess coconut oil alone takes less time either way! I have it in my hair right now actually👌👌 Yeah there's probably other brands that uses honey as well, but you should definitely try Lush's one if you have a shop in your vicinity. You get a free sample that lasts 1-3 washes or longer, if you just ask for it, at least here in Sweden. I definitely recommend it!:)

    It's so much more important what you put into your body than what you put on your hair and skin.
    Carrots, Spinach, blueberries, mushrooms, citrus, melon, foods rich in vitamins C, D3, B12. And get good fats like avocado, coconut oil, olive oil, and fish oil.
    Try to cut out sugar unless it's from fruit and dark chocolate. You'll stop craving it! The same goes for wheat products (pasta, breads, cereals, etc.) It's not just about the gluten, the carbs turn into sugar and matabolize into "bad fat" very quickly.
    Dairy and red meat have wonderful health benefits in moderation, but too much of either can cause inflammation, skin conditions, stomach issues, etc.
    Try to look at your face and hair as your information resource telling you what you need to eat more of, or less of, if you need to get more sleep, and respond to what your body is crying out for.
    Instead of using a mask to reduce puffiness, drink more water that morning and reduce your salt intake that day.
    Your face is telling you what your body needs to be healthier- don't just add more products on top and ignore everything staring you in the face. Become more beautiful, and more healthy.

      Yeah but if you bleach it to all buggery, it won't help what grows out if you're not treating it right. Its kinda like a burn. Eating well helps your skin and healing but not moisturising/using creams to help wouldn't be the smartest

      I know your comment is a year old but I'll reply to anyone who has the same problem and is wondering about a solution.
      The thing really comes down to trying out what works best for you. People are very different and while some things work for some people, they might not work for you. So if you can, try to find testers for products, or buy those super small shampoo and conditioner, etc. bottles and see if it works for your hair or not. One thing I would recommend though, is to try to find affordable organic/bio products with little to no chemicals (or at least with no sulfates such as SLS and no alcohol).
      I think that helped both my hair and my skin most and I hope it works for anyone else reading this. :)

    2 years ago I didn't know anything about hair. I got a hair straightener for Christmas and I was so excited. Remember I knew NOTHING about hair and all I did everyday was straighten it. My hair was a bit past my shoulders. I never thought anything of it and continued on like this for a year. I never got my hair cut through this year and my hair wouldn't even look straight. It was damaged beyond repair. I finally realized this after my freshman year and decided I needed to do something. That summer I stopped using any heat completely and started to look on UA-cam for overnight curls and waves. Sophomore year my hair was still really damaged and couldn't wear it natural because it was so frizzy and just looked bad. This continued on for a year and it was looking really better. I got trims every couple of months. Junior year began and I started to use hair products to help my hair. I used coconut oil, Pantene 3 minute miracle repair and protect deep conditioner, Suave biotin infusion anti-breaking serum, garnier fructis sleek and shine leave in conditioner, suave moisture mask, and many other DIY ones I could find. Junior year is almost over for me and my hair is 27 inches long. Almost to my waist. My hair looks and feels so much better after those two years of repair. I still to this day do not use heat on my hair. I can finally wear my hair natural. For anyone out there saying that your hair can never get better. It can! I've done it and you can too! Don't give up and don't take your hair for granted!

    Your eyes are gorgeous!! I really think you should try out the Wet Brush, it's seriously freaking amazing! I have very fine, blonde hair and I can not get a brush or comb through it when it is wet but once I bought the wet brush I could not believe how freaking well it worked! I'm seriously obsessed with it.. But I also use It's A Ten which is a leave in conditioner and it works amazingly for detangling, smoothing, and repairing as well as preventing future damage! It's definitely a little on the pricey side but it's totally worth it in my opinion.
