One of the most versatile aircraft ever built in my opinion and with a really comfortable cabin layout to match. Hoping for more success for the A330neo
Yes definitely... 2-4-2 is so much mroe comfortable than 3-3-3 in my opinion... for wider aircraft like the 777 i prefer the 3-4-2 konfiguration... Sadly, it's very rare and i've only seen it on japan airlines so far...
This may be an unpopular opinion but while you say there's nothing flashy about it, personally for me it's the best looking plane, and so elegant. Another very unpopular opinion, i don't find the a350 that good looking. I feel like the shape of it makes it look smaller than it is
16.5 inches wide seats are too narrow, if the fuselage of A330 is 6 inches wider, it would be able to accommodate 9 abreast 17 inches seats with slightly wider aisles.
The A330 basically had no competitor from the early 90s to the late 20s until the 787 was introduced. The closest Boeing offering during this period was the 767 but it is technically miles behind the A330. The 777 is considerably bigger than the A330 so it was not a direct competitor.

As a Turkish citizen there is a reason why A330's are so popular in Turkey. TK uses their A330's in Europe based flights mostly (around 2000 km). Also in summer seasons demand for domestic flights skyrockets! Even the longest domestic flight is around 900 km's , A330 is very useful. They also operate A330's to Western Asia and Africa flights too. I had a chance to fly with a (ceased operations in 2021) Onur Air's A332 in 2017. For a 650 km flight it was very good. @@risannd That doesn't stop A380 being one of the quietest airliners. 777, espcailly GE90-115 powered 77W/77L, come with some of the largest and most powerful engines available at the time, and that comes with a price - noiser. In contrast, A340 is powered by CFM56, similar to those fitted on 737NGs and A320CEO. That comes with the price of rather pale performance, but also gives the frame lower noise level and comparable fuel burn against 772, despite being a quad.
I've only flown on the A330 once...an Air Canada flight from LHR to YYC in 2015. It was a comfortable aircraft, nothing flashy just safe and reliable....which is exactly what an airline needs.
The A330 does throw me back to my good old childhood days, brings back memories as a kid frequently flying on Gulf Air, Emirates, and MEA, and Saudi Airlines, I used to fly on them since 1998/99ish.
As a passenger and a flight simmer from Asia-Pacific region. The Airbus A330 is the my second favorite aircraft after the Queen. Easy to fly, advance technology and comfortable experience. I personally flew the A330 on Cathay Pacific, Cathay Dragon, Eva Air, China Airlines and Qantas. I enjoy all of the flight mentioned above.
You miss a few points: 1. Inherting the structures built for A340, Airbus succeeded to make a once regional machine into sth much more capable. They did that to all their frames, but A330 is dramatic. 2. Many Asian countries are either isolated by waters, lacked of reliable infrastructures, or being a major manufacturer hub. Demands for air freights are thus significantly higher than their Western counterpart, and 757 or 767 simply can't carry containers in a way A330 or A300/A310 do. (Same reason why ovoid/double-bubble NMA lacked enthuasis here. If airlines go Boeing likely would be 787) 3. There's an A330 finishing line in China, so Chinese buying A330 is sort of supporting local employment.
Usually overshadowed by other aircraft types in Singapore Airlines' line up, I've always enjoyed flying on SQ's A330 to secondary cities like Hanoi and Surabaya. Though it's not the newest, its was amongst the most comfortable to fly in especially for regional flights.
Definitely a fan, super safe aircraft and nice to fly with. I flew it once with Air China from Shanghai to Beijing and it was a comfortable experience. Only negative is the small windows.

I have flown on Fiji Airways A330-200s and A330-300 and they are all super comfortable aircraft. I even flew the A330s which they leased from the middle east. Albeit old but still does the job.
I love the A330. I have been into A330-300 many times on domestic flights here in the Philippines. Very quiet cabin and comfortable even in ultra dense setting. It also has a great landing, most of the time, it is butter. Now, I am looking forward for the new A330-900 on my future flights.
This is one of my favorite planes... I've flown it with different airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Avianca, Delta, Cathay Pacific, Singapore Airlines, and AirAsia... The A330 its very comfortable, if this plane would have an upgraded air filtering system would be perfect
In fact, when the A330-200 became available in 1998, it actually became the plane that quickly replaced all the DC-10's and L1011's out there, more or less. The A330-300 became popular in eastern Asia because it could fly longer routes in eastern Asia, for example, Tokyo to Manila, Singapore and Jakarta. Indeed, when the A330 (then called the *TA9* during development in the 1980's), it was intended for routes up to just under 6,000 nautical miles in range, something perfect for transatlantic routes between Europe and North America and longer intra-Asian routes.
I flew on an a 330 from Taipei to Singapore with China Airlines. It felt quite out of date compared to the a350 I had just taken from Vancouver to Taipei. Was glad the a350 was on the one I took on the 12 hour flight and the a330 flight was "only" 4.5 hours
Flown on the A330 with SriLankan, Singapore, Delta, Qatar, Turkish, Cathay, Thai. The most lovable thing is the 2-4-2 configuration, you are never more than a seat away from the aisle.
A330: Might not be the newest plane but it does the job for airlines. It’s cheaper than B777 and they can do short/medium/long haul routes easily. It can be trusted. It’s safe like the B777. Oh and don’t forget the seat layout. I love it.
One of my favorite planes is the A330ceo! It looks waaay more awesome than the neo! I wish if they just changed the engines for the plane, not the winglets!
my first wide-body aircraft I've ever flown with is A330 with Garuda Indonesia on domestic route, sure the cabin is not fancy and as quiet as 787/A350, but the cabin quite spacious I can say I love and would fly with A330 again in domestic route.
A330 for example in Aerolineas Argentinas, is used in domestic flights (Buenos Aires-Ushuaia) and also in transatlantic flights like Buenos Aires-Madrid and Buenos Aires-Rome. It is such an versatile airplane!
I prefer the the older A330 over the newer 787 or A350 in economy. The 2 4 2 is way better than the 3 3 3 seat arrangement. Saying that in Perth, Western Australia most airline pre covid either used an A330 or 737 for both domestic or international. I always prefer the A330 wide body over the 737 narrow body. Also its a pleasant surprise when you upgraded with points.
That's true in the Philippines, as Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific Air use the A330 for short haul high-density routes such as Manila-Cebu and Manila-Davao, while they also use the aircraft for longer routes, mainly inside South-East and East Asia, as well as Middle-Eastern routes and Oceania routes, especially with Manila-Dubai being the most populous Philippine-operated A330 route.
Flown on A330 several times, both short and medium haul, and mostly have pleasant experience. One thing that I hate though is that the aft passenger section have a slight angle to it compared to the rest of the cabin (as can be seen from the windows that isn't in a straight line from front to back) and this creates an ever so slight forward tilt on the seat and this is such a pain for my back problems. Other than that, it's all good. One point of curiosity though, I think Japan has none of them even though their airports receive dozens from their Asia-Pacific carrier counterparts; maybe that's because their airlines have much closer relation to Boeing than Airbus?
Skymark Airlines (Japan LCC) had a brief relationship with the A330 back in 2014, but hit financial trouble so retired all of them and never took their A380s. But I do agree that Japanese carriers have a deeper relationship with Boeing. JAL’s A350 order could very well change that.
A330 is definitely a workhorse. Not the sleakest, most modern aircraft but the one that reliably does its job.

Amazing plane. Flew on a Lufthansa A330 from KWI to FRA, easily the best landing I have ever experienced.
The A330 is a great jet. The 2-4-2 configuration is very efficient as no one has to climb over any more than one seat to get to there seat.
A330: Might not be the newest plane but it does the job for airlines. It’s cheaper than B777 and they can do short/medium/long haul routes easily. It can be trusted. It’s safe like the B777. Oh and don’t forget the seat layout. I love it.
I am a fan of the Airbus A330-200 and 300 and I’m happy it’s still flying
One of my favorite planes is the A330ceo! It looks waaay more awesome than the neo! I wish if they just changed the engines for the plane, not the winglets!
1 of the greatest aircrafts ever built! Deffenitely a top 3 for me!
my first wide-body aircraft I've ever flown with is A330 with Garuda Indonesia on domestic route, sure the cabin is not fancy and as quiet as 787/A350, but the cabin quite spacious I can say I love and would fly with A330 again in domestic route.
A330 for example in Aerolineas Argentinas, is used in domestic flights (Buenos Aires-Ushuaia) and also in transatlantic flights like Buenos Aires-Madrid and Buenos Aires-Rome. It is such an versatile airplane!
A330 is actually very sexy looking, especially with its RR engines.
0:56 Cebu pacific air also has a Airbus A330-300 And Airbus A330-900Neo (Delivered in dec 2021)
I like the A330/A340 siblings. I was fortunate enough to cross the Atlantic in an A340 in the early 2000s.
I like it cause it always butters the landing. Never seen an a330 landing hard tho.
Like it. Its pretty quiet.
