I've been a fan ever since I found your in-depth analysis of Fez last summer (2013). I'd just finished the game and, having been deeply moved by it, was looking for something that discussed it in more depth than the typical "product reviews" you'll find elsewhere. I found that depth in your vid, something that talked about not just the "what", but the how and the why. I appreciate your work. Thank you for taking games seriously while keeping it fun.
Ryan Gatts Yeah, I saw the support button overlaying the video (upper left) so I clicked it and made a donation to George (or whoever runs the channel). It's the first time I've seen such a button, so maybe it's a new thing.
usquared Oh, so they're finally rolling those out :D I didn't have annotations turned on so I'd never seen that icon. They announced they'd have "tip jars" for youtube channels at the same time they announced 48 and 60fps support on youtube videos. Good to know, thanks!
usquared He is exactly what I wish these professionals and journalist were. Giving an in depth look into the product whole still remembering that the product is meant to entertain and you can take your job seriously like you said and still have fun.
Yes, an actual review of a game and not some hour long play-through. Thanks, bought the game and subscribed. Now I just have to catch up on the reviews
Super Bunnyhop I think I actually gifted you a spare copy of that game I got from a humble bundle a couple months ago. It really is a solid game, similar in style Door Kickers and classic Tom Clancy games, and I'm almost certain you'd enjoy it :D
***** While I see where you are coming from, one fundamental difference between FS and Xcom is the tile-based layout. Movement feels completely different in each game, and in the tactics genre, that is quite important. However, your point is still valid :D
I absolutely worship all your videos man. In fact, anything you are featured on, I have listened to, like ancient podcasts you have been on. I've also gone back and listened to the entire TOVG podcast backlog, for instance (miraculously I didn't discover it till recently). Never stop being amazing!! If I ever meet you IRL I would shake your hand, because you really are the best. Thank you so so much for illuminating my gaming experience, and so much more.
I'm so happy to see this game turn out this well. I've backed this thing very early on and its just so nice to see its potential realized. Now, I only hope it gets the popularity it deserves and the community runs with it.
I actualy love tactical games. But, you didnt mention frozen synapse. Have you played it? Frozen synapse not only give you the opportunity to do your own tactical meneuver, but also simulate the enemies meneuvers so that you can spend HOURS just perfecting one simulation and then going with it. Oh and its Multiplayer.
Yea, the amount of fine-tuning you can do in Frozen Synapse is just ridiculous. One of my favourite manouvres was when I made one of my units pop up from behind cover to draw an enemy units attention and right after that another of my dudes stands up and takes aim. The first guy then hides again just before getting shot and my other guy guns down the enemy. It felt so good to pull that off :D
@@emowookie9337 SWAT 3 is more for people who are really into Tactical First-Person Shooters, so it's not really for beginners. I usually recommend newcomers play 3 after 4 so they can get used to how the gameplay works.
As a Door Kickers dev, I have to say this: Frozen Synapse is awesome, and its got Multiplayer, which we don't - for now. Its not for those with little patience, think of it as a chess game with guns :)
Just found your channel and I really enjoy you reviews. Very in-depth and your editing shows you put a lot of work into each one. You got yourself a new fan/sub :)
Stephanos Rex is a voice actor and he does alot of impersonations, he was probably the one doing the snake voice. He has stuff on youtube if you're curious about him.
This game kind of reminds me of an action version of Spacechem. Spending hours and hours on something that, once finally solved, lasts mere seconds but is more satisfying than anything.
I didn't so much mind the comparisons to Rainbow Six, as the utter *lack* of comparisons to Frozen Synapse. After all, that game has probably influenced Doorkickers, since I definitely felt familiar with the gameplay seen here. It's also been around for three years, and is kind of half-price compared to this (you get two copies for a little over 20 bucks) and has (online) multiplayer which Doorkickers apparently lacks. I'd have really liked to know how the two compare, and if there's additional value to be received by purchasing Doorkickers, since I already own Frozen Synapse.

The really important thing this game does is allow you to plan on the fly. There's tremendous satisfaction in laying out one plan up front and letting it play through, but most of the time you'll be planning a room or two at a time. If Rainbow Six had offered this, it would have been perfect.
Oh my god. Stephanos Rex voice acted this? Holy crap, Bunnyhop you have to look him up on youtube, he is an amazing dude with an amazing voice and talent. I'm definitely buying this just for that, wait what? It has great gameplay too? Take my money and copulate with it!

Maybe the reason they kept the stealth class locked away for so long is because if you got it earlier on, those satisfying feelings of multiple stealth kills would become dull towards the end.

This game's slow unlock system makes perfect sense if you factor in an attempt at maximizing ad revenue and/or buying upgrades in-game for money, both commonly used to monetize mobile games.
Door Kickers sounds like the name of a game parodying the tactical shooter. Such things like "i'll only use a sniper rifle in these tight corridors" or "Stick a silencer onto EVERYTHING!" Anyway, looks sweet, if only the £15 price tag wasn't so scary.

pttoau Weldezion No problem, also don't tell anyone but, you can get a free version on ACmarket (If you have a android that is). Just go to Google and to their website then there will be a link.
i unlocked the stealth class within 1 to 2 hours you gotta choose the mission generator and put it on light and small then keep on doing it till you level up to 16
God i remember my first rainbow six game, i tried it after playing games like Halo and damn it was hard to get used to, but it made you feel so much smarter afterwards. I might have to pick up the new one.
6:05 Why do you not have the M4 unlocked? that thing's very good in any close to mid-range levels, to which most of the early levels are mainly short range.
Maybe the state of the upgrade system is the result of the dev's attempt to compliment the potentially massive amount of content you described. It could also be a remnant of the game being for mobile platforms with the absence of micro transactions. Really like your vids. Just bought Gone Home.
At 1:34, I believe you meant "strategy and tactics," and not "logistics." Logistics would have had more to do with supplying your team and getting them to the scene in the first place.
The one shot is not how most things go. In a traffic stop a man who shot at the police was shot 17 times while the officer was once. In the hospital room the officer could hear a nurse asking who shot the guy so many damn times. Apparently he lived
David Hayter? OMG Must buy! I do love optional stealth games, but the grind required to unlock it puts me off a bit. Seems like it could be my sort of game anyway though.
Seems you don't like unlock systems that lock out some of the content, but I find that a good upgrade system will increase my overall investment (basically I'll be more willing to persevere through less interesting content). Unless your required to complete given busy work to unlock the new features, nobody wants a game to feel like work. Door kickers looks like it has the right idea though, 1; make the upgrades difficult to get, if their too easy then it will make the whole upgrade system feel tacked on. (You say time consuming but I bet the time you consumed trying to get them was full of challenging game play.) 2; Make the upgrades interesting and something that expands on the game's major elements. I'd say it only fails with one, 3; Make the upgrades feel worth the time and effort. (Not 100% on this atm, thoughts anyone?)
I agree with almost everything but complaining about having to spend some time just to unlock stealth class which is not even needed to complete levels while the game provides countless hours of experience is just dumb. Especially that unlocking all of it is one of the most fun aspects of the game, I had my squad leveled up to the highest level after 2 days of playing it, and so many stars it basically meant it was the end of upgrades, which were extremely fun. I actually wish the time that takes to level up the squad was at least doubled or tripled and prices of equipment elevated. It would keep the upgrade system going for longer.
One important question: Is this a puzzle or strategy game? meaning is there only 1 way to beat each level, or do you have room for different approaches and several choices ?!
You got the point, I really tired of game that locks its mechanics then requires you to unlock them through boring grinding. For example like Dead Cells, really like the game but the unlocking was frustrating. A good example was Monster Hunter games, Although they require you to grind for materials to unlock weapons, but the new weapons only provide you more damage, you can use all the weapon types in the get-go.
The Hayter voice you're hearing is Stephanos Rex. He's a big fan of MGS and a pretty decent Hayter impersonator.
I think summoning StephanosRex is in order :)
Dan Dimitrescu EYO.
Now. We just need him to do a Old Man Henderson voice pack for the game... to stop the gnome stealing bastards of course!
@@StephanosRex he actually did it the absolute mad man

David Hayter? OMG Must buy! I do love optional stealth games, but the grind required to unlock it puts me off a bit. Seems like it could be my sort of game anyway though.
idea was about selling stuff to customers through istore
Thanks for the review. This looked a lot like frozen synapse to me so I haven't pulled the trigger on it yet. I appreciate the analysis though.
Looks great. Might try it, specially for David Hayter lol
How the hell do you make a single plan for a mission or something?! I can't seem to figure it out!
I recommend SiC´s sound mod for this game.
I assume Frozen synapse isn't mentioned because Super Bunnyhop isn't aware of it.
Now it's 3 bucks, go get it!!!!!!!
Have you played Frozen Synapse, Super Bunnyhop
Nice to hear about your thoughts on the game, but I wonder why nobody ever see the similarities to this and the early SWAT titles.
It's a great game highly recommened
Seems you don't like unlock systems that lock out some of the content, but I find that a good upgrade system will increase my overall investment (basically I'll be more willing to persevere through less interesting content).
Unless your required to complete given busy work to unlock the new features, nobody wants a game to feel like work.
Door kickers looks like it has the right idea though,
1; make the upgrades difficult to get, if their too easy then it will make the whole upgrade system feel tacked on.
(You say time consuming but I bet the time you consumed trying to get them was full of challenging game play.)
2; Make the upgrades interesting and something that expands on the game's major elements.
I'd say it only fails with one,
3; Make the upgrades feel worth the time and effort. (Not 100% on this atm, thoughts anyone?)
Curious about that myself :)
How does the steam version compare with the android version?
pc version is best
it took me 4 hours to get the breacher class
I agree with almost everything but complaining about having to spend some time just to unlock stealth class which is not even needed to complete levels while the game provides countless hours of experience is just dumb. Especially that unlocking all of it is one of the most fun aspects of the game, I had my squad leveled up to the highest level after 2 days of playing it, and so many stars it basically meant it was the end of upgrades, which were extremely fun. I actually wish the time that takes to level up the squad was at least doubled or tripled and prices of equipment elevated. It would keep the upgrade system going for longer.
You could restart your progress and do it again
I love the name. Door Kickers! XD
If anything, this is the leigimate follower of the Police Quest series back in the 90's.
One important question: Is this a puzzle or strategy game? meaning is there only 1 way to beat each level, or do you have room for different approaches and several choices ?!
He said that each level had infinite solutions (Possibly an exaggeration) at 5:35. You Is welcome
Frozen synapse?
You got the point, I really tired of game that locks its mechanics then requires you to unlock them through boring grinding.
For example like Dead Cells, really like the game but the unlocking was frustrating.
A good example was Monster Hunter games, Although they require you to grind for materials to unlock weapons, but the new weapons only provide you more damage, you can use all the weapon types in the get-go.
